Nice job Dean. I've got 2 dealt 12v and 18v when they first came out, every day being used. Except 1, the 18 v chuck froze up. But I fixed that 2 weeks ago....... Thanks to you!!!
Funny, the grandson and I were using a scale to measure sliced meat and afterwards when he finally thought he understood we watched this video. He just asked me how a small ring (gear) could weigh six pounds?! Now I have to explain how different countries use different currencies. Ahhh, to be four years old again and let the world take care of us… 😉✌🏼
I think they strip out because people like to think faster = quicker job, and so use the drill in 2nd in applications that are better suited in 1st. The amount of fabricators I worked with that try to run the fastest drill to cut holes in Stainless was maddening (stainless work hardens very easily and especially hardens with heat, so cut slower and with more pressure iffin youbneed the tip).
Am I correct that it's Makita, Bosch and sometimes DeWalt that sells motor and electronics parts individually, that only Hikoki and DeWalt that sells gearbox parts individually, that Milwaukee is crap coz everything is bundled, and that Hilti, Festool and Mafell are super crap as they require dealer service alternatively their tools are overpriced? I myself have many of these brands at work, but some are also Triton routers and Würth drills. All works good. Would be nice if you made 1 reference video where you discuss your views on ALL the brands. If you have done it, pin it as a link in all your video descriptions. Thanks for a very good channel.
No, actually The Hitachi Power Tools division was sold to a Private Equity Fund and rebranded under the name Metabo HPT; not HTP. The sale was a specific type of divestiture which allowed the new owners access to the intellectual property, but not the trademark name "Hitachi". The Hitachi Group is still very much in business; focusing on their core competencies. While Metabo, and Hikoki, are an entirely separate company.
can say same is for a stihl corded chainsaw... got one from the dumpster.. where a tiny woodhip blocket the sprocketwheel and motor grinded down all but 10teeth why the chain spun like normal but nothing happend when put the chain on timber 50€ later like brand new ^_^ do like builders that throw away tools and go buy new one straight away :D
dean would you be able to change the sliding rams/arms on an old dewalt saw will have to get the model number to see if you would be able to do it thanks. sam
In your career, if you see an armature on a grinder that has a bulge and you polish it, would you bother throwing some brushes at it or just chunk it if it continues to arc? If I had a lathe, I'd just dress it down nice and even. But I don't. I think new brushes might make it better, but it would eventually get bad again. Idk I think the tool was just used and abused, and abrasive got jammed in there and caused the damage to it.
Cheap and easy repair are indeed good selling points, but when it takes two months to get the one part needed for the cheap and easy repair, that's a dealbreaker for me.
In fairness, it takes that time for me to get the part from my supplier. Loads of shops online also stock amd sell them. So it wouldn't take 2 months for someone at home. I have to use a wholesale supplier.
Glad to see Hikoki supplying individual parts….even if it took two months!

This happened to my old Makita NICD drill. #2 was garbage but #1 worked as it should

Can you imagine working in a hikoki warehouse where the parts are stored that has got to be a brain workout lol

My man, is that linoleum flooring on your workbench top? Pretty cool idea if it is.
I used to have the impact driver that matched that drill

Arre the Metabo ones similar in availibility of spare parts?
Can you get Milwaukee m12 gen 4 impact driver clamshells separately from Milwaukee
What can I say Dewalt cant always be PERFECT 😂😂. Thanks for the video from a sunny South Africa.😅
👍👍👍
This gearbox has only 3 planetary gears in every "level", others I've seen in your videos have 5. Are the ones with 5 stronger or somehow better?
No. No they are not. They're just stronger, and better, that's all.

That's the cheaper Hikoki drill. The proper model is the DV36DC
Hi
I literally fixed this same fault yesterday on a client's drill! 👍🏻
No. No you didn't. Dean is the main man, not you.
