Barber Electronics Tone Press Compressor Demo by Bryan Ewald

- Updated, compact version of Barber's unique approach to a guitar centric compressor. Parallel compression enables a wide array of textures, from totally squished / infinite sustain to big, clear & transparent "studio" style compression or even a gorgeous sounding clean boost. Without sacrificing total user friendliness. "Fast" attack and brilliance switches can add chime and articulation back into even extreme compression settings. I also go through and demo David's recommended setting from the manual so you can get a taste of what those are like.

The best in depth review of a compressor pedal hands down. A blend knob is a must. Awesome guitar work also.
Very underrated review for a very underrated pedal company.
When I grow up I wanna have a studio like Bryan's. Gotta have compression for Single coils. I have the Kneely that works for me but the Tone Press really sounds great.
Great Demo, now that is how a Compressor Should be, not so Squishy unless you want that Effect.
This is an above level review, great job
This might be the most revealing gear demo I've ever seen. Thanks especially for "keeping it clean", i.e. not loading the sound with distortion/overdrive. The boost capability is fine, but most any compressor will do that. The real test of a compressor is how it handles clean signals, and this demo covers that superbly. (Nice playing, by the way.) Now comes the real challenge: finding one of these babies; they're out of production.
I appreciate that. I always prefer to think of myself as “thorough” rather than “long winded” haha. Some may disagree.
I’ve always loved David’s creations. I hope production resumes. But yes, if you find one, snag it.
@@BryanEwald I have the original one for years. Never leaves my pedalboard. How does the Compact one compare? And I wish he would make the original Burn Unit again with the two channels. I have one of the prototypes but it is well aged. The BUSS is not quite the same thing.
That was thorough and fantastic. Thanks!
Love your demos Bryan...really considered and informative! Dave's pedals are an incredible bargain...Thanks!
cheers, thanks
Lowell George-y and Bonnie Raitt-y style slide too! some of the pickin' almost made your strat sound a bit like a tele there too. Nice demo of a great pedal.
excellent review!
Great review!
Nice demo! Didn't know much about the TP but is actually a finer device. The brilliant sw sounds beautiful!
woll, super sound man! great, great! subscrived!
One of the best gear demos I've watched!
Very useful and informative. Thanks!
Awesome pedal, my old TP died a few years ago :( due to an accident. Too bad it is too hard to get it new outside the US
Another great video from you thanks man. Question, on your board, are you running this before or after your drive pedals?
thanks. Before drive.
Can one of these also work on bass?
Definitely
What kind of settings would you use for bass?
Use my original Tone Press for bass all the time. Don't record bass without it.
