Facts
Love the barber tone press!!!! SP is a great compressor too but I love the barber !!!!
I´ve had both in my rig. The SP is unusable with humbuckers because it compresses too much, even in light settings. If you want to get squashy funky clean tones with single coils it might suit you well, but if you are looking for a more versatile and natural sounding compressor, the Barber is way more subtle, mostly if you use humbuckers. The SP sounded plasticy for me and was quite noisy compared to other compressors except de MXR Dyna Comp, which is the king of noisy compressors haha
Really nice comparison demo! Enjoyed your attention to different compressor
level settings, presence on/off, different attack settings, even comparative noise levels. Covered a lot in a concise but comprehensive manner! I’ve got a Barber Tone Press v2 on the way, and your video confirms my confidence that I made a good choice. Thanks!
You're a very good presenter! Keep up the good work!
This just makes me love my Tone Press all the more. Great video with great sound exactly showing the compressors behaviors. I got the brand new Boss CP-1X and wanted it to be awesome. It behaved too much like a volume maximizer, especially trying to fill in a lot of 100-300hz no matter how much I rolled it off. I unconsciously fought against it for a few months, trying to find just enough compression to do the job without adding too much low end. Couldn't get there. Put the Tone Press back in the circuit and just couldn't believe how clean and sparkly it sounded.
Great playing and great review!
I have the sp. Kinda wish I had the tone press.. Sounds clearer to me
Nice review. Thank you!
Great review. Thanks!
David Barber makes some Unbelievable Pedals. I just purchased his Updated Gain Changer SR = best low to med gain OD. Very well thought out & super versatile = " Fat & Flat for my Strat "
Hi, can you please tell me how you ordered Barber pedals? I can’t find much info online... Thanks
@@andreilesiuk9538 Go to their website and contact David Barber directly. He is a great guy. Very knowledgable and accommodating. Good luck (I am still in love with my gain changer sr) and I have tried alot of pedals . . . in many shops in NYC.
@@michael_caz_nyc thank you! I also found it on Facebook .
the SP is sweeter while the tone press has more brilliance. I think the Tone Press would be better for chord work while the SP is better for single note runs.
Excellent review btw!
Both are great...I'd go with the TP for a regular board or maybe the SP for a mini pedal board.
