    That bend at 4:27 was absolutely insane. Incredible playing and nice to get some verification from a top notch world class player that’s it’s cool with use compression with distortion. I’ve always found that it helps tighten up the sound and adds a nice amount of sustain as well.

    I have always loved using Compression pedals with not "distortion," but I certainly love running it into a overdrive and just to the point of break up, tube amp... and even a bit more (JCM, Jubilee tones).
    I've also got the EP Booster. I'm running default settings, which I don't believe is "dry?" I think default is with the -3db boost and mid/high boost/gain/shaping. Whatever is going on there, I love it. Its a bit thick for LPs and humbuckers, so I think I'm going to switch it to the dry setting.
    I just picked up this today, after years of tolerating a Boss, for the while-I'm-playing sound, but its just too damn noisy and I think sounds too nasally. I love this SP. It goes well with the EP, and I could very easily see running the 2. I tried just the EP with the Jubilee and 4x12, its pretty kick ass, imo. But, I'm just a bedroom player, so if it sounds good to me, that's good enough.

    Hi Michael..I am brand new to electric guitar and 41..I love the video on the SP COmpressor..I want tight distortion and round off the Harshness of playing chords on a Tele on back pickup..Does the COmpressor go after the Distortion pedal closest to input of amp..The only Pedal I currently have and love is the Wampler Hot Wired V2 Distrotion/Overdrive and I love it..I play mostly Modern Pop Country..Have a Great day and thank you for the Awesome video! Jim

    What I'd love to know is how he gets that thing to stay in tune so well. I can see that it's maybe a graphite nut, and locking machine heads, but surprisingly the other end looks like a pretty normal 6-screw "strat" style trem block! I guess the answer is "experience" :O)

    what is the signal path here? Are you recording direct in and using amp modeling or is an amp being mic'ed? this tone is incredible

    On my Boss ME-70 to the left of distortion there is a compression setting.. I use this intentionally to knock off gain for certain songs.. Im wondering is it possible to do the same with a pedal board with the comp pedal to the left of a distortion stomp box?. So it would be a Dyna comp pedal to the left of a Metal Muff.

  • @jamesclark131

    punch the compressor's volume up just a tad and it'll actually boost the drive signal. If you jack the compressors volume and use it as a booster it'll jack the driver even farther. put the compressor before your drive and hang on.

    I want to be able to play a note, hold it for 10 minutes if I choose, have it sustain practically indefinitely, then move onto the next note. I know that would most likely take a rack-mounted compressor but how long can the SP pedal hold a sustained note?

  • @RayCelona

    How do you have it set? I'm thinking of adding one to my pedal board to boost my signal overall and add sustain. Using a Les Paul into a Vox AC30 distorting the amp by cranking the volume on the top boost channel. Thoughts?

    • @HomeGuitarMods
      @HomeGuitarMods 10 років тому +3

      I do this with my amp. I set the volume to about 2 o'clock, blend to 11 o'clock, and the compression switch set to Medium. Gives a nice boost to quieter notes while keeping my louder dynamics to drive the amp. This is a great pedal. If you want I did a super in-depth review of this pedal on my channel gong over all the switches inside and out. Or just get one. You wont regret it and wont want to play without it!

      Most common method is to place your compressor at the from of your signal chain before your fuzz and od.

    Nice to hear you play, but that's all you really offer here.. Stick to one pedal, and perhaps- demonstrate some settings on that pedal that work well with that pedal and distortion. Hopefully no one paid you for this "instruction"?
