The Compact Direct Drive contains the tones of the previous incarnation of the DD, high & low gain plus switchable harmonics, for an extremely wide range of British inspired overdrive & distortion. Sounds more like a cranked up amp than a distortion or overdrive pedal. It seems to be the closest I have heard to the tone of the amp but at sane volume levels. Many pedals claim to be able to deliver this but the Direct Drive demo here shows that Barber really knows how to get it done right.

The direct drive nails that Marshall stack sound. I have an actual Marshall combo. The direct drive into its clean Channel sounds more Marshall than the actual Marshall gain channel.

Great demo man! I own two direct drives. I've had the older one in the larger black housing and eventually broke down and got the green one since fit perfectly on my metro 16 board. It amazes me how many guitarists that are gear freaks and don't know about the Direct Drive. One of the best kept secrets in the pedal world IMO.

great demo, great playing. I've got both the CDD and the Gain Changer. The CDD sounds great through ANY amp, solid state, whatever. I sold off a lot of my dirt pedals after realizing I couldn't beat the Barber duo. I use the GC for lower gain and the CDD for Marshally thunder. Bargain priced compared to other boutique manufacturers.
