In this video I talk about some common mistakes guitarist make when they use compressors as well as tips on dialing in great guitar tones using different compressor techniques. We are generally talking about gentle leveling types of compression that will help give you a more finished professional sound. I'll walk you through all this using the Empress Effects Compressor MKII. This compressor is feature packed and is in a small enclosure with top mounted jacks. I'll explain controls like attack, blend (or Mix), release, input gain (threshold), and the side chain.
