    I've always know my arms were long but didn't realize how stark the difference was until I just measured: 5'10" with a 6'6" wingspan. I'm swinging WAY too flat. Might explain my struggles. Even air swinging in my living room feels so much more comfortable and natural. Can't wait to get in the lab with this. Thank you.
    UPDATE: Had the best range session of my life after watching this. Like remarkably better ball striking and overall comfort in the swing. This info is for real!!

    Very helpful. Thanks. Not a lot of coaches approach the swing/player this way.

    Thank you for the boost of confidence. Being 5'9 with a 6'3 Wing span, golf coaches have always pushed the outer vs upright swing

    These are my bioswing measurements:
    Wingspan v Height - 180 v 185
    Forearm v Upper alarm - 37 v 31
    Trail hand grip - Side on
    Pivot post - Center
    Please could you give me advice on what my backswing should look like. As well as my lower body movement?

    • @MattWalterGolf
      @MattWalterGolf  2 роки тому

      I’m assuming that’s cm. But with your arms shorter you’ll be flatter back and steeper down with the longer forearm. Pelvis shouldn’t sway much in the swing. And make sure your trail arm has the palm facing the target when you grip it

    Hey Matt! Love when you collaborate with Zac Radford. The banter you two have is great!
    I am currently trying to figure out this issue in my golf swing. I am really struggling with poor contact. I would say my swing right now is pretty neutral for arm position at the top. Here are my measurements below. Any guidance would be great! I am 5 ft 9 and roughly 220 lbs. Broad shoulders and am barrel chested.
    Wingspan 6 ft
    Height 5 ft 9
    Forearm length 9”
    Upper arm length 8”

    • @MattWalterGolf
      @MattWalterGolf  Рік тому

      Yea if you got a large chest that wingspan measurement might make it more difficult because it would depend on your shoulders range of motion. Typically in your scenario I would have the play unload the club so more DJ wrist conditions than a Sergio Garcia overload wrist condition and that would help contact I would think

    This is such a great video. I’ve been looking for this for some time.
    My height is 177 cm and my wingspan 195cm. It’s not all bad as I’m good at throwing a javelin ! The feel I’ve been working on with my coach has been to create space and he first pointed out the issue I may have with longer arms. He consistently encouraged me to feel the club is moving outside the path on the way up so I don’t get too stuck. However I feel I lose my coil and don’t know how to initiate the downswing if I chomp on my bicep. I feel I can’t rotate and the club is coming straight down to the ground. Is it a case of getting used to this feel or should I be initiating the downswing in a different way?
    Thanks.

    • @MattWalterGolf
      @MattWalterGolf  2 роки тому +2

      Well just remember there's a difference between hand/arm path and club head path. So you can have the club head behind you and shallowed out without the arms/hands having to be super deep!

    I’m 186cm/200cm or 6’1/6-5 1/2 in americano, and always thought I was doing it wrong by having my arms go up instead of around. Do you think golfers that come more down in the takeaway are more prone to fat shots because of their angle of attack?

      most likely they can't load the ground well and apply ground forces that match their body type!

    Im 6ft and my wingspan is 6'4" and I've always sucked the club inside then raised it which causes the over the top downswing...so should I try to raise my arms more in my backswing perhaps? More of a 2 plane swing feel?

    • @MattWalterGolf
      @MattWalterGolf  2 роки тому

      Feel possibly. Your correct in thinking that your arms are going over the top because of the takeaway. It’ll feel like a Matt Wolff swing bc you will still struggle w the urge to lift the club over the plane even if your backswing goes up better. So it’ll feel more up and then under

      Dude that’s a crazy difference. I’d remeasure to be safe. But either way. Your gonna have to use your arms and let your body respond to that. It’ll feel like an armsy swing but with that spread you can make that work. Shorter arm dudes have to rotate hard
