I think the Isley Bros would approve of this version. Played with skill and passion!
Don't you just love it when you find an unexpected gem 💎 like this on YT ?
I had No idea!
True story
absolutly love it
WTF!... My Mind Is Blown! @ 63. So Glad I Found This!
This is the best of the best!
Jon Herington is the real star of this video. Superb guitar work.
I agree man, he is awesome !
He is so amazing playing the guitar the way he does, "terrific" 😊
He's a superb guitarist, along with "Ready Freddie Washington" on bass. He handled Ernie Isley's guitar lines with the same attention that he handles all the other guitar work that he did at this concert.🙌🙌🌎
AMEN TO THAT JUST KILLED IT!
That horn player ain’t bad either.
Sweet.... I was right back there for a moment in the day. Oh how i miss it. 70s music always!
I am so glad that ii grew up in the 60's and 70's to hear the all time greatness of the musicians wow just awesome.
Ernie Isley must be smiling ...the lead guitar is killing it!
Heck yeah!
yeah, the is pretty good but not "isley good"
@@dmmusicmusic Yep, missing some of that extra fuzz effect !
@@donguiddodilozzo1906
affirmative!
@@markrobinson8254 I just "relistened" and agree it's good; but I think cause early to mid-80's my best friend looked exactly like Ron Isley it just hits me flat to see white guys doing it; it's a personal thing I guess.
Just another lady that loves your music.
All of the musicians are legends. You will never see this again if you grew up in the 70s . They were icons. Music has changed. To all of those who never saw these guys in there prime
Will they tour uk
Steely was my favorite band when I was a little shaver circa the late 70s! And Lido Shuffle was one of my favorite songs when it came out! I'd tell my dad to turn it up when it came on the radio. Sometimes wouldn't need to tell him, he'd already cranked it up! Old man had most of the Doobies & Steely records from the 70s! That's a good start when you're a kid.💯🔥
I remember when he got Baker Street on cassette? That song almost got ruined. Thankfully, I didn't hear Baker Street for about a decade or so & I could like it again!
Yea it’s sad
To be honest with you my name, living in today is, I am going to try my hardest to not swear. Living in today is really something else, the people are out of their mind, the current music made is absolutely fucking terrible, there goes one. The cars, the cars back then were pieces of art that nobody knew about, well very few dead. Nowadays they are built like shit. There goes two.
I’m 28 years old living 7 miles away from Boston, I’ve lived here my whole life. The people are out of their fucking mind, I’m in Italian boy, and Canadian, and I can tell you these people are miserable, they have the best work ethic and they are very honest so I gave them credit, I wish I could grow up in the same place but 40 years ago. Life is what you make it, it’s hard to make it in this world
Guitars doing Ernie Isley proud!!!!
Jon Herrington-the dude can play that guitar
Totally nails the solo!
Is he the same guitarist who played with The Eagles in their Last Farewell Tour? Excellent guitar player, indeed!
Totally agree, and sooo tasteful!! So many hidden prodigies out there.....
@@tonimoren5905 i don't believe so.....if it's the same guitarist i'm thinking of (his name escapes me at the moment) he looks like a 20 year old kid with dark shorter curly hair, almost like Jimmy Page's back in the 80's. Didn't wear glasses like Jon here. Another Stellar guitarist :)
The incredible Shannon Forrest on the drums!
The glue Man..!
Still listening in 2023
2024
The boys simply tore this one UP! Great to see master musicians like this on stage.
Boz's voice got a lot better in his old age.
Most guys loose certain aspects of their voice as they age, but he certainly hasnt. The dude is only spot on & has soul.
Seen him many times over the years , starting with the Steve Miller band, his voice HAS ALWAYS been greart
Ernie Isley set the bar pretty high with his unique guitar work on the original. You can always recognize his playing, it's so unique. Jon really tears it up here, doubling the complexity without losing the feel of the original. Man. He makes that SG sing. I'm so jealous.
Yep tearin' the ass out of it but I think it's an S.G Junior !
I remember this being one of the hottest tunes of the mid 70s. Everyone got up and hit the dance floor.
SG Jr. only has one pickup (a P-90) That's a Standard with 2 humbuckers......I think, haha. Not a Jr. though.@@richardhughes9364
He really does it justice with adding a bit of his own flavour to it - lovely flow to it!
Some things never get old. Ever.
I absolutely love the beginning guitar duo by Boz Scaggs and Jon Herrington
70 and up, still sound amazing!!!
Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers and Boz all at once.
Great job! Jon Herrington is one great guitarist. All sounded great.
cuttingly accurate a joy to watch and study !
Thank you for naming him! I love his tone and ability!
jon is awesome
Love this! I’m a “member” of 1970s and experienced this great music “LIVE”!
Hearing this is just transcendent! Donald Fagen is just one in zillion 💕
NOW THAT IS A BAND
So grateful to have grown up in that era!! Music was original and diverse…stood the test of time as many songs are covered today.
First show I ever saw in 1965 at the Avalon ballroom in San Francisco, Steve Miller band was the headliner. Even then, I wondered why it wasn't called the Boz Scaggs band, since he seemed to be the star, and by far the best singer and player in the group. He's been a favorite ever since.... One of the most overlooked creative geniuses of all.
Except that Boz didn’t team up with Miller again until 1967?
the reason he left both became legends
Why is there not thousands of more likes?
Boz still killin’ it!
This is just another performance for all these guys. They don’t understand how everything they perform is genius.
One of the best concerts on you tube!! What a guitar Player..wow
The Dukes are at their best masterful musical performance here. Everything is hitting, the song choices, the rhythm section, drums, just everything. And they are totally in the groove taking us along with them.
Damm, Jon Herington can play!!! He makes Steely Dan better than ever.
Walter Becker played guitar effortlessly and will always be a legendary guitarist 😎👍
Now that’s a musician !
I don’t believe I’ve just found this SUPER group, all legends!
They're all so excellent!! They sound the same as yester years. To all of them BRAVO
My face hurts from smiling from beginning to end. First time I've heard this...perfect. Thanks for uploading this!! Boz, Michael McDonald, Donald Fagen, killer horn section, cool modulation pre lead guitar solo...this version has it *all*.
Herrington worked his ass off on this number and it sounds it.
The lead guitarist is phenomenal ! So glad we have this music at our fingertips to enjoy.
John Herington!!!
I've watched a bunch of videos from this show, and I'm so impressed with how Boz can be a star, but can also step back and be a great, humble ensemble player. His rhythm work here is perfect, and his dual lead with John on Reelin' in the Years is the other side of the coin. Then there's that voice. How cool!
Yes these are true artists. I am in awe just listening to them. And Michael McDonald's hair! A lot of men would kill for that
YES!
I can't believe I haven't stumbled across this before, it's truly amazing! It's hard to pick out a favourite!!
If this was on Trust Pilot I'd give it 27 stars out of 5!
Wow. Imagine having such a talented band that the overlooked bassist is the guy who co-wrote and played on Patrice Rushen's hit
'Forget Me Nots"! Ready Freddie Washington.
They really should have added "and Jon Herrington" - he's the bomb on that guitar!
YOU AIN'T KIDDING!!
Good enough for a Steely Dan solo.
bernie does just fine on this or anything else he plays on
Seen him with Steely Dan and Dukes of September several times, he always delivers a flawless performance.
What a band - ✌
Musicians. Period. Incredible talent, the lead guitar going killer on the Isley chops, and also realize that this is the equivalent of doing a studio recording in one effing take!!!
I love this old, wild rock-stars with their faces like landscapes more and more submerged in their instruments. Ideal.
Saw these boys at the Deacon in NYC a few years back... legends and pure musicians and songwriters showed the audience what real music is... fabulous show and fantastic musicians. All of them.
I watch this performance daily since I've discovered it. Can't get enough.
Michael McDonald has the best hair of all time!!!
I don't think he's lost one strand!!
It's from the Jay Leno collection.
His hair is quite amazing….
Wow!!!! That’s a lot of talent on one stage!!!
I love that no matter what it’s the same old steely Dan , just the tightest most syncopated band you’ll ever hear
I had the honour of seeing them live in 2014 - one of the most amazing concerts I've ever seen. Buy the DVD of them live at the Lincoln Centre, it's the BOMB!
I never heard this version! Love it! Still get the chills from Michael McDonald. Love him so much!
Dynamic. All-Star ensemble ! Once-in-a-lifetime event ! A seat in Heaven ! for those that attended ! Masterpiece concert for sure ! They definitely hit the mark they had hoped for and then some
Blue Eyed Soul Legends !!
The isley brothers would be proud. What a great song
Bozz, Donald & Michäel 3 musicians/singers is a real treat 💕
Harrington kills it!!
The Bozz. Michael. And The Dan.
I've watched this legitimately 40 times in the past 72 hours.
understandable
3 great artists fitting together well............
Not enough dear - not enough....
Get a life and a job
Between this, Alanis and Swing Out Sister, spending all day on YT.
Harrington so great on the lead. He knows how to bend those strings.
Back up singerz are great. Could listen to them all day
Jon Herrington is simply amazing - wow !!!
Awesome rendition!
Just great to recollect my years...dancing...fun..and a great life...With no coronavirus...free and my triumph 500...
Thanks for the video...excellent group teamwork...such a great sound...👍👍👍👏👏👏
I haven't heard this tune in years. It brought me right back to my youth. Thank you.
Fagen does a great job on this one. Such a talent. All three are incredible.
Howwww did I end up HERE?! So glad I stumbled upon this GEM!!!! Guitar player…my my myyyyyy!!!! Damnnnnn!!!! 11/15/21 @ 7:33P.
Couldn't have a better group of awesome folks play this song just killed it!!!!
John Herrington is a brilliant guitarist...
So much talent on one stage, jeepers, awesome 👌
Shannon Forrest on drums is flawless.
OMG One of my all time favs. This was Fantastic! Love this band
I'm breathless !
I'm watching all these clips after finding one of this amazing group of immensely talented musicians and singers.
Top shelf ✌️🎹🎷🎼⭐️🙏🏻
Jon Herington plays that style you don’t hear very often in these days
Flashed me back to the 80s
Guitarist..absolute master, great lines...
The Whitesley Brothers. I LOVE IT>
Yes sir
Got free tickets in Atlantic City...Had no idea who was going to see. I was blown away!!!
Boz still has it!
Saw Steely Dan at Birmingham In 1996 and 2000. What superb performances. Michael McDonald Manchester 2000. Out of this world. Boz Scaggs next?
2009 actually . Wrong year. Sorry
You must have a lot of standing to listen a whole concert with Michael McDonald
Great version of a classic.Top musicians.
What happens when you get a bunch of world class musicians and vocalists on the stage at the same time. Please play this on my death bed at least I will get to heaven one way or another.
I simply love them. Boz, Michael Donald are just so good and the whole Band is amazing.
I WENT TO HEAR HIM IN Redondo Beach,CA. AT A RESTAURANT WHICH IS NO LONGER THERE. WOW !! ONE OF THE BEST & FAVORITE] OF MINE. BOZ SCRAGGS :)
I've seen all three of them in concert but all of them on one stage!!! Wow 👏
John Herrington has Ernies licks without all the fuzz and phase shifter sounds great
3 of the badest !!! Ron Isley said holy ---+- they did it better than us!!! 😂👍🎸♥️
What a great tune.
Amen....Thank You.....That was Fantastic......I stumbled on this at 5:30 am.......What a way to start my Day
On the original Isley Bros. track there is a long guitar solo to die for.
Ernie Isley's solo.
The only Dukes I was aware of it were the Dukes of the Stratsophere (XTC). These Dukes are terrific with an all-star ensemble.
Fabulous!
Not even a hige fan, but when McDonald sang, it came together.
Jon Herington. Jon Herington. Jon Herington. Can't say his name enough.
BOZ SCAGGS,WHAT A GREAT VOICE AND DONALD,MIKE, AND THAT SREAMING GUITAR!
This is beautiful.
Absolutely stunning! Some of the best songwriters and musical talents of our lifetime performing a beautiful tribute to the great Isley Brothers.
Jon Herrington deserves the ultimate respect for being able to honor all the great session guitarists that Steely Dan utilized, yet still add his own flavor to the music. That is some mad talent he has.
sometimes maybe, . just not here.
Music is medicine
AWESOME
S G sounds great+
