I came here solely looking for this comment. I’ve never listened to Boz live, and did NOT expect this. My jaw literally dropped when he started signing. Sounds JUST like the recording. Un-freaking-believeable stuff.
Crying my eyes out here. Could be the whiskey. Could be the top quality musicianship. Could be Boz's amazing voice (loved the bass player's smile when Boz started to sing). Just walked my gorgeous springer spaniel up on the golf course here in South Wales. Feel so blessed right now despite all the crap in the world. Who says music has no power.
The music of my adolescence is probably the best era of music ever, when I revisit these classics I am reminded of what smoothness and groove are all about, this art is lost on the new generation, I spent most of my life performing as a singer and musician and later as a club and touring DJ, now at 53 years of age, sitting back today listening to this concert brings me full circle in my musical journey and opens my eyes even more to musicianship and the magic of a bunch of guys behind their instruments presenting their soul to the listeners and fans. Music is everything.
William "Boz" Scaggs American guitarist and singer/songwriter Former member of the Steve Miller band. Went solo and had a string of hits from the mid 70a into the 80s. Excellent performer live on stage. This song "Lodown" from 1976 is one of his biggest hits.
I agree, I was 16 when I first heard this song. Back then, the radio station I listened to played everyone from Isley Brothers, steely Dan, Boz to Dr. JOHN and Stevie Wonder
When Boz Scaggs started to sing, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, just wonderful to hear this track again performed so brilliantly by all the musicians, will be playing it loads from now on.
Boz and Steve Miller busked around Europe together. Boz and I lived in the same SFO neighborhood in the late 70s. When Silk Degrees was released, I put it in HEAVY rotation. "#Loan Me A Dime" is still a favorite. See Dukes of September Boz, Michael McDonald and a piano man from Steely Dan. UA-cam has a great concert.
I had dinner at Boz Scaggs house in San Francisco 1985 with 8 others . He was cooking chicken. I looked at a family album and discovered he has a twin !!! I asked him and he confirmed 😄. Boz is a real down to earth person. Very warm.

When the Girls started to go Uhh!! I got Goosebumps. simply fantastic and that flute. It goes to show what music can do when multiple instruments and people are involved. something the record companies have forgotten and doesn't support anymore and that's so sad.
Agree 100% !!! On bass Mr. "READY" Freddie Washington and drums Mr. Shannon Forrest. These two cats along most of the members of this performance have been on more recordings than you probably realized. And number one recordings at that. Super performance by all!
Boz absolutely still has the voice, in the original key, hitting all the high notes. And his ad lib note choices are second only to perhaps Daryl Hall. Legendary, classic, never to be repeated singer - that is Boz Scaggs.
I listen to this song 44 years after its release and it still sounds fresh. I prefer music videos that let us see the musicians in action heightening my appreciation for their talents. This video exemplifies that.
I saw the Dan outside of Scranton in the mid-2000's. Same perfection. The band was like one huge instrument in perfect tune. With Mike McDonald. After 3 sold-out shows in NYC, the scranton venue was half-full!
Brings me back to the late 70’s. I loved Boz’s work. Amazing singer, song writer. I have this video. Boz,Michael Macdonald,Donald Fagan. Couldn’t have put together 3 better musicians.
Brings me back to my teenage years, hanging out with friends and not a worry in the world. I wish I could go back again to those days and see all of my friends who have passed on and just listen to music and fire up a blunt 😊
Used to play Boz over and over again when Silk Degrees hit the charts way back when (??) Still got the vinyl - one of a few I kept. Always love it when the classic radio stations play him. Just stumbled onto this video and it has renewed my appreciation. What a band - what a voice - you haven't changed at all Boz! THE smoothest music ever!!! I'll be searching for more Boz videos!!
Thanks, you guys…I have all the nurses dancing and visiting….where is this wonderful sound is coming from….my tears are fresh and so sweet…..I needed this like you will never know how much!🙏🏼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼😻🙏🏼
I have been listening to Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and The Doobie Brothers since I was in high school in the late ‘70’s and I have most of their music on the original vinyl albums. These masters are true musicians and they bless us with their audio perfection. They will never be replaced!
Much the same. I'm from the Ferguson area in St. Louis (yeah, that Ferguson) where Michael McDonald was from. He was friends with my sister. Jammed in my basement at least once with his friends. I'll never forget the first time I heard "Takin' it to the Streets" and said, that's the same guy?
Out of this whole live concert set, I believe this is my favorite of all. HUGE nod to Jon Herington and drummer Shannon for their spectacular support performances.
I agree with alot of what you people have been saying. The musicianship is second to none and Boz Scaggs sounds like he is 33 and not 73. Terrific stuff.

Jeffrey Black, this marvelous performance was in ‘12. That’s 7 years ago. So he would have been 67 here. Still! The voice of one still in his prime. Must be taking great care of himself!
Giving props to the video production on this. Every camera shot has movement and you don't see the cameras operators in the video. Top notch video production!
I'd be honored if some late 70s/early 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES by Michael McDonald, JOSIE by Steely Dan, and WE'RE ALL ALONE by Boz Scaggs on my YT channel in tribute to the masters of groove. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and keep on grooving.
Boz’s Lowdown and Toto’s Georgy Porgy…. simply the best. No surprise that Toto’s David Paich co-wrote (and on synths and moog) on Lowdown along with Jeff Porcaro setting the groove on drums and Hungate on bass. This kind of musical group incest is awesome 😊
Best version of Lowdown ever! The guitar solos are marvelous. The keyboard lead ins immediately raise the expectation levels. Can’t even count the number of times I listened.
I am here as a 53 yr old black woman whose mom loved this song when I was 6 and also loves Mike McDonald and Steely Dan

When the Girls started to go Uhh!! I got Goosebumps. simply fantastic and that flute. It goes to show what music can do when multiple instruments and people are involved. something the record companies have forgotten and doesn't support anymore and that's so sad.
Yeah
Yeah...all good...old school 4 sure
Hoy las compañias aceptan solo lacra pues, le interesa solo el dinero no asi, la calidad.
Remembering when I listened to his music for the first time when I was 17, now 62 and still loving it!!! Love from Belgium!
The same here, about the same time and age. When I first heard the song I thought: Wow. Every time I watch this performance now, I still think: Wow
Absolutely divine, the whole band😎👌
I was the same age in Wales & still loving it too
62 here as well and still loving it from San Diego, CA!
63 here and played this Silk Degrees album til it wore out - Boz on the cover on a park bench - the epitome of cool
This is sublime! Everything is immaculate & Boz Scaggs? What a voice!
Shannon Forrest KILLING it on the drums! Sooo groovy!!
Never get tired of Boz
I'm 73 and I have been listening to him since silk degrees
They don't make music like this anymore....DAMN!
Amazing drummer and bass player, they both have a built in metronome! And of course Boz's vocals as smooth as ever!
Agree 100% !!! On bass Mr. "READY" Freddie Washington and drums Mr. Shannon Forrest. These two cats along most of the members of this performance have been on more recordings than you probably realized. And number one recordings at that. Super performance by all!
Totally agree
There is a reason that Shannon was chosen to play with Toto after Porcaro died.
Boz absolutely still has the voice, in the original key, hitting all the high notes. And his ad lib note choices are second only to perhaps Daryl Hall. Legendary, classic, never to be repeated singer - that is Boz Scaggs.
The drummer is perfect!!!!
Shannon Forrest, what a groove and a great compliment to the master JP.
I listen to this song 44 years after its release and it still sounds fresh. I prefer music videos that let us see the musicians in action heightening my appreciation for their talents. This video exemplifies that.
It's like an onslaught of amazingness
The musicianship, the timing, vocals, each one playing their part and it all coming together so beautifully...BRAVO!!!
I saw the Dan outside of Scranton in the mid-2000's. Same perfection. The band was like one huge instrument in perfect tune. With Mike McDonald. After 3 sold-out shows in NYC, the scranton venue was half-full!
Exatamente.
Smooth like butter. He still has the voice for sure. So 😎
And so much talent on that stage. Class, no jumping around like a clown and no dancers.
Yes! ❤

Exactamente 💞👍
Same !!! 💙💙💙
This recording is about as close to original studio quality as I can remember. Excellent
It's prolly better.
I think it is better... like good bourbon.
Out of this whole live concert set, I believe this is my favorite of all. HUGE nod to Jon Herington and drummer Shannon for their spectacular support performances.
As a guitar player, Jon is hands down the cleanest I’ve ever heard.
100% AGREE!!
True artist.
I agree with alot of what you people have been saying. The musicianship is second to none and Boz Scaggs sounds like he is 33 and not 73. Terrific stuff.
Age is not a limiting factor in music, on the contrary…
@@yvesdevriendt928 false...age does effect the quality of their work, most of it in a negative manner. Some of them can endure for a long time at a high level some cant...JMO, of course my friend.
Jeffrey Black, this marvelous performance was in ‘12. That’s 7 years ago. So he would have been 67 here. Still! The voice of one still in his prime. Must be taking great care of himself!
73.!! I'm having two of what he's having then.....looking and sounding brilliant
We're the same age,no wonder I love this!
The entire band is tight! Great music, great sounds, sending great vibes.
Scaggs cooler than the other side of the pillow!
I never heard that one before, Lol!!!
You said it Uncle.

Karen Williams Funny but when Lowdown first hit, I loved it and thought,
Oh this new guy Boz is cool.
Not knowing he’d already been around forever.
I hope your username is because of the great Frank Zappa
The bassist kills it! And Boz still has it!
Giving props to the video production on this. Every camera shot has movement and you don't see the cameras operators in the video. Top notch video production!
The drummer is killin' this...awesome !
Toto's now drummer! Shannon Forrest.
original drummer is jeff porcaro... ! listen the original version and you will see the huge difference
Real Musicians, Real Music, Really Cool and The Real Deal! Don"t Get no better than those three!!
We are in the Presence of Greatness
Ralph Viscus
I'd be honored if some late 70s/early 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES by Michael McDonald, JOSIE by Steely Dan, and WE'RE ALL ALONE by Boz Scaggs on my YT channel in tribute to the masters of groove. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and keep on grooving.
dont get realer than this bro
Great drums
Boz’s Lowdown and Toto’s Georgy Porgy…. simply the best. No surprise that Toto’s David Paich co-wrote (and on synths and moog) on Lowdown along with Jeff Porcaro setting the groove on drums and Hungate on bass. This kind of musical group incest is awesome 😊
If a drummer catch your eye and ear on such a terrific song, he is good.
If you were a kid hearing this for the first time in the 70's then you'd agree that this sounds as good as it did back then:)
Take me back to these times, I won't waste this time
Herrington is an absolute beast. His tone is incredible.
This is probably the nearest performance that you can get to perfection. If there is such a thing?
Yes. There is musical perfection. We are here....
It IS perfection.
Best version of Lowdown ever! The guitar solos are marvelous. The keyboard lead ins immediately raise the expectation levels. Can’t even count the number of times I listened.
boz is probably the most laid back man on the planet!
+m patrick He's beginning to look like Clapton. Great voice as always.
+m patrick I think Tom Petty could give him a run for that title
+mikeb
Lest we forget Gregg Allman.
Come to tulsa!where was i at???come to tulsa!!i sing this song!!!love the spening bass!!
so laid back he's not even playing his guitar
