Love the video! Seems like some of us know the secret of these little gems. Love how they take on the flavor of whatever you add but just bring that here I am flavor.
i love the accessibility of this video, the temp is listed in both normal and fahrenheit, and there’s an emphasis on the options!! you can customise your seasoning, and my man even gives options for the baking paper or not! i dislike videos that follow a strict “you need to do this” type thing, and this is the opposite and again, i love it!
I actually like these completely toasted as well as the way you make them toasted outside kind of softer on the inside. I love the fully toasted style on top of salads.
@@cyrusatkinson3307 I like that idea. I'll have to give it a try next time i make a small batch. most times i am doing at least 2 cans to make it worth my while and my air fryer can't handle that much. at least not in a single layer. I might end up with a chickpea brick if i added 2-3 cans in it haha.
In India it’s a street snack.. Called Chana Jor garam.. they are served by street hawkers in newspaper cones. You get spiced roasted peanuts the same way too.
I just made roasted chick peas the other night.. olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper and some steak seasoning. After baking until crisp, I drain them on paper towels SO GOOD!!
@@phaedrussocrates7636 They're the canned ones, just drain them. The dried "raw" ones that you'd find in bags are hard as rocks and would need to be cooked in water first. Canned are much easier.
I bet an air fryer would work well. I’m glad he made the point of crispy on outside and soft in the middle. I would have thought the whole thing is supposed to be crispy. I imagine it would be too hard to bite if the whole bean is crunchy.
Love it. Super simple. I like that you don't overcomplicate things. I'm going to make these and use my Trader Joe's Ranch seasoning on them. I use it on popcorn already.
I would recommend having the oven up to temp before you start mixing the oil and seasoning. I did it with Tajin and ate way too many before they even made it to the oven. LOL
Bummer. I've developed a couple of allergies as time went on. I know what it's like to not be able to eat what everyone else is having...& how nice it is to be able to say, "Nope! These are Mine!...Ok, you can have some
I have been doing something very similar but I first microwave the chickpeas for 8min while the oven is preheating, then oil/seasoning, then bake at 400F for 30min.
Love crunchy chickpeas but it's been years since I last made them. I used to pop them in the Traeger on smoke setting for like 10-15 minutes and then into the oven. Gave a nice subtle smoke flavor.
Thanks for the recipe! I don't really care for popcorn so this would make for a great alternative. Also, you should try baby chickpeas(chickpeas that are still inside the pod). Really simple recipe, you just toast them and season with only salt(or tajin), adding a little bit of water at the beginning to get the inside chickpea nice and soft. Once the pod is slightly toasted on the outside, you take them out, wait a few minutes to cool and enjoy.
Sounds awesome .. will try. Also, another video showed you could very easily de-shell these by soaking in water for a minute and gently squeezing them. The shells float to the surface and you just skim. Might be a good step.
Love them! I use the convection setting on my oven because I likethem crunchy! Also use a trick from Cook's country where you place them on a paper towel lined plate(spread out), cover with another paper towel and nuke on high for 5-7mins. Helps to start the drying method and cuts down on oven time. Getting the skins off is the worst part of the process but worth it.
Something some people might not know about chickpeas- aka garbanzo beans- is they are chock full of protein, along with several other important nutrients.
Oh wow, Autocorrect can sure cause confusion. Took me a minute to figure that one out...I'm a bit dyslexic, lol :) What's funny is that a friend of mine who can't eat popcorn was just asking me if that popcorn hull problem is real. It sure is! Cheers!
Considering we rarely use our garbanzo besides in chili and the water in the can for some egg-free merengue, I might be able to swing this by my mother for movie night, since she hates popcorn for getting stuck in her bridge.
I'll definitely try it, i love chickpeas boiled also pop-corn is far better when you make it in a stockpot and you can add the seasoning in the oil before you put the pop-corn in...
Thanks for sharing that easy recipe. I love my popcorn, but will give that a try. Cheese flavored garbanzo beans might taste really good. God bless!!!!!!!!!!
Oh man! I think that for my particular lifestyle these will be best for dungeons and dragons night to put a couple of these snack bowls around the table. I’m SO going to try this!
For me those are not a substitution for poporn but for nuts instead. They are both legumes so it makes sense at least for me. But I will definitly try them since I expect some more exotic flavours will go way better with this.
Love the video! Seems like some of us know the secret of these little gems. Love how they take on the flavor of whatever you add but just bring that here I am flavor.
I've been making these for a year in the air-fryer 300F for 20-25 minutes
Thanks! I wanted to try this in my air fryer but was not looking forward to figuring out the times and temps.
Are these completely raw prior to roasting or were they already precooked when canned?
@@latriciacagle4873 I got the time from the Americas Test Kitchen air fryer book

Toasted chickpeas are amazing, not enough people know about their Snack potential
For sure. In Trinidad and Tobago, we fry them then season with salt and other local seasonings. Its crunchy and better than chips.

Search Turkish “leblebi”. Its a traditional snack here, we love it.

Yeah, I love roasted chickpeas. My biggest problem is lack of self control when it comes to eating them.
I'm trying this for sure! I love roasted wasabi chickpeas, and I swear I think I am addicted to Tajin.
Yessiree wasabi peas are so moorish

Wow definitely making this thanks dude
I'd bet that Tajin would be great on roasted hominy, also.
I worked at a place that fried them for salad toppings. I snacked on them all day...
you could make these Hummus-seasoned, then grind them up, and make instant hummus mix - just add water.
I concur, and nothing gets stuck in your teeth. We like them with garlic butter and parmesan.
I have been making these for a while in he airfryer for years, really is fantastic, black beans also turn out pretty well.
A great healthy snack to start my new years resolution!
Simple, yet thorough explanation. Thank you!
Really good video. Short, precise, simple and delicious.

Tajín is made in Mexico and yes we eat it with many things, my favorite way is with fruit like mango or watermelon
Interesting. These look really good. Would have never thought of this.
