- Chickpeas (garbanzo beans) can be transformed from soft and mushy to crispy and crunchy. It's quick, easy and inexpensive in an air fryer.
Note: For Celsius cooking temperature, it should be 199, not 9, lol. - Навчання та стиль
I just made these they make a good 12 AM snack
Right on!
Where they crispy all the way?
Haha. I’m eating these right now and it’s literally 12:00 am on the dot.
Not me reading this comment at 11:30pm thinking up quick air fryer snacks
Ohhh yes for those midnight munchies 😋 😁
This guy is great! He is very thorough and I appreciate the fact that he said Garbanzo beans and Chickpeas are really the same thing. Big help, as I did not know that. I also like that he takes his time and really shares so much about what he is doing and why. For example, he went over the oil he was using, but he made sure to mention the other oils you could use. Very helpful. I'm subscribing. Thumbs up!! ❤❤❤
Thanks ever so much! Glad you found it helpful. Happy cooking 🙏
I just ordered an air fryer and I am DEFINITELY trying these! Great snack alternative to other less healthy things. THANKS!
Thanks for watching! Enjoy that new air fryer; I think you’ll love it 😄
I just bought 2 cans of garbanzo beans and can’t wait to try this recipe. Thanks.
You’re very welcome. Enjoy!!
Just found this and gave it a try. The suggestions to try different spieces is solid. I threw some savory spices in and added a bit of powdered chili for a kick. Delicious! Definitely need to fine tune my air frying technique as they did not cook evenly. It actually helped me to identify the weaker and stronger points of my air fryer since some weren't quite done and others were a little more than I would have liked despite shaking them around at the half point. Still turned out delicious, though, and a relatively cheap snack! Thanks for the guide!
Thanks for watching, and enjoy that snack! 🙏
Thank you so much Matt, I really really enjoyed watching you create these brilliant crunchy chickpeas and I absolutely adore chickpeas anyway, so a request for more recipes containing them would be greatly appreciated. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too.
Thank you so much 🙏 Happy cooking!
Looking forward to making these in my air fryer. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy 😋
Mate thank you so much, I tried them tonight (the savoury ones) and they were absolutely amazing! Next time I'll try the sweet ones 😋
Fantastic! So glad to hear. Cheers!
I bought my first can of chickpeas a couple months ago and they were just sitting in the cabinet, but now they're in the air fryer. Looking for healthy snack ideas. Thank you
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy the results 😀
I cannot wait to do these tomorrow! I’m gonna do both savory and sweet batches, hehehe

@@IWantToCook No, thankyou. My kids fight over them.
love this becuz I've never made these and want to try so thanks for the video
You’re very welcome. Enjoy!!
Best flavor for these is both savory and sweet, like how you would flavor jicama. Chili powder, salt, honey and lime.
Thank you so much. Tried it out and man were you right. Keep up the good work.
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching :-)
I can't wait to make these. Thank you
Thanks for watching! Hope you like them. 😋
Thanks for this video. I needed the right temp to cook them on. Going to air fry some today.
Awesome -- i hope you enjoy them!
Thanks for a great addition to me menu.
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Thank you so much for this recipe. New to trying out Chickpeas and was looking everywhere how to roast dried chickpeas with an airfryer and I stumbled on your channel! Thanks a lot, gonna give this a go.

Brilliant healthy snack… 👍🏾

Then you've got snacks now! Thanks for watching and enjoy :)
Thank you for the tip, I must try it soon.
You’re welcome! Enjoy 😊
This looks great and healthy! I 'm going to try coating/seasoning them with wasabi powder. I love the wasabi peas sold in cans. Thank you for the video.
That sounds delicious! Thanks for watching 🙏
Rockin it

Great video!
Thank you!
Thank you! I am going to try this today.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy 👍
The John Wick music was a great touch.
Mmmm... so good! And mouse approved too! Air fried some last night, chowed down, then left the remainder on the kitchen counter in a glass dish. This morning the crunchy garbanzos were gone, but not without a fair trade of a tiny deposit. 😃 (Little fella' will be kindly moved soon to a new country location)
That is too funny! Well I’m glad that all manner of creatures enjoyed the recipe. Thanks for making my day 😀
wow! Thank you. I'll try these later :)
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoy 😀
Ty! Gonna try this today!
Oh Yeah…. I’m Trying it! ☺️ …. Just gotta get Some of those Beans.👍. I’m trying the Sweet then Salty. I luv Quick healthy snacks like this. 😁 I’m excited ! 😊
Excellent! Enjoy 😀
Thank you, excellent video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks I’m gonna give them a try
Thank you so much they came out absolutely delicious however there were too many so some were not as crunchy as others but I enjoyed all of them
Glad to hear! Sound like a little experimenting with amount will make the next batches even better.
Don't have a air fryer 😢 but these look delicious ❤ but with your directions ill try in my oven. Im always looking for a good healthy snack 😊
I hope you enjoy them! 🙏
Yummy
I can’t wait to try this. I was going to buy a bag of these crispy chickpeas at the grocery store and they were $5.99! No way am I paying that much for chickpeas.
I thought the same when I saw those prices! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the results 😀
Ok I have a large Home Russo air fryer only 10 I put it on 15 minutes and slightly charged some but they were awesome to me kinda like camping thanks for the Idea. I used mesquite
Right on! Glad to hear they turned out well. 😀
Wow thanks we used popcorn seasoning and was wow thank you
Great to hear!
Thank you I am going to try this..
Hope you enjoy!
I made using the talian herbs powder. Omg delicious
Fantastic! Way to go 🙌
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome and thanks for watching 🙏
Ooh, I think the leftover seasoning I saved from almonds & pistachios will b great on these. Honey roasted, salted caramel churro, honey butter & bbq. Had rather excessive amts left & flavor was delicious so I saved for something exactly like this. Wee! Tried once in oven yrs ago but have been wanting to try in my air fryer.
Those seasonings sound great. I hope you enjoy the air fried chickpeas!
Nice
Thank youuu !
You’re so welcome! Thanks for watching 🙏
Made them Lemon & Chilli flavoured! 😍 Squeezed half a lemon, spray oil, chilli powder, chilli flakes, garlic granules and sea salt! 👌
Right on! 🙌
Will definitely give this a go. I see that 195c and 20 minutes is the way to go.
Great! Hope you enjoy 😀
I just did and they worked out pretty well. I used garam masala. Think I might have cooked them too long as they are slightly hollow. Less time I think. Nonetheless it was definitely worth a go and thanks to your video I did. Made it my own thing like you said.
A little over a week ago a friend got me an air fryer that's like an oven. I'm loving all it can do! I'll be making these garbanzo later tonight.
Fantastic! Hope you enjoy 😀
I think I cooked them a tad bit long. LOL!
Doh! We've all been there. Cooking is all about experimentation. I know your next batch will be better :)
It seems delicious 😍 I want to try it!
But 390 Fahrenheit is not equal to 9 celsius, though... 9 celsius is 48,2 F, very cold indeed
390 F = 198 C, but I just use 200 C
Yep, i meant to put "199" in that text, and rounding to 200 C should be perfect. Thanks for watching & enjoy!
I'm putting Mines in the Air Fryer Right Now. I hope it's super good 👍.
Great! I hope you enjoy.
thank you so much, i have seen other receipes for these but they sound complicated. i did get some seasons, just couldnt find any for bbq. if you have any recommendations please share. thank you
Thanks for watching! I recommend experimenting with seasonings. For example, you could try paprika, a bit of brown sugar, garlic salt, cayenne, etc. That is part of the fun. Enjoy! 😋
@@IWantToCook thank you, sounds good
I used chilli powder and taco seasoning:) thank you
Great combo! Glad you liked it 👍
making this tomorrow morning
Hope you enjoy! 👍
Wow
WoW 😲😲 Love this snack. I don't have an fry air, can you do this on the stove in a pot? They look very crispi. Love garbanzos. Well I am watching from Trinidad 🇹🇹
Hello from California! If you have a standard oven, you can use that. Cook at 425 F and shake every once in a while until crispy. As for the stove, yes, you can cook them in a pot by shallow frying them in some oil. They will be a bit fattier that way, but definitely delicious. Happy cooking! 🙏
@@IWantToCook thank you so much for the answer to my question. I'm going to try it. Pleasant evening blessings 🙏 take care God bless you richly 🙏😘🌹🌺🌹🥰🍎🍉🥝
Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Hey you might want to check your conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius, it’s not correct.
OMG, you are so right. Good catch! That should be 199 Celsius. Thank you :)
I cooked it at 9 and it came out perfect
One little tip ❤if you smash them flat using a flat spoon or your fingers they ll get same crunch n look flat n tasty like they sell in Asian stores..❤add chopped cucumber and chopped onion squeeze of lemon n eat with tortella chips as a spoon...they taste fantastic 😍
Thanks for the tip!
Would sprinkling a tablespoon of corn starch in the bowl with the seasonings make them crispier?
I’ve actually never tried that, so…. Possibly. When I want them extra crispy, I just cook them longer. Because the cornstarch is a possible alternative.
I'll make sure to pick up some extra cans next time I go shopping
Good idea! They are now a staple in my pantry. Enjoy!
This looks so yummy! Can I use coconut oil?
I’d be wary of that. Though I use coconut oil for certain recipes, this would not be one of them. The reason: Coconut oil has a rather low smoke point of 350 degrees F, which is literally the temp it starts to smoke (and lower than the one called for here). I would stick to a vegetable oil for this. Thanks for watching and happy cooking. 🙏
Had to come back and say thank you. I just made some. I have to watch my sodium so I can no longer eat chips, sunflower seeds, and pork ribs and I miss the crunch. I can control my salt and have my crunch back.
Thrilled to hear you like it! Thank you for watching and commenting. All my best to you!
You can also crush them up and use them for breading on air fried Krispy chicken
Omg I love this idea! Thanks 👍
Do I need to dry them before air frying?
Just pat dry, then lightly coat in oil and seasonings. Enjoy!
Is it smart to dry them on a paper towel after they are wrinced?
Yes, that will help get the water off so they can be ready to be tossed in oil. I recommend that because water and oil don’t mix, and you want the oil to coat the chickpeas.
Most people don't realize Chick Peas are also very high in Iron. They have about 25% iron per serving.
That’s fantastic. Especially important for those on a plant-based diet. Cheers!
when only soaked same method? thank you!
Yes! I’ve found that method works just as well (if not better) with dried beans that have been soaked. After soaking just shake off excess water and proceed the same way with a toss in oil and seasonings. Happy cooking and I hope you enjoy. 😀
I would love to try these but I don’t own a air fryer. So how can I make them otherwise? Please tell.
You can also cook these in an oven, even a toaster oven. I would bake them at 425 F on an oven tray and shake every now and then. Start with 15-20 minutes and cook until they are crispy to your liking. Cheers!
Thank you so much I really appreciate you guys for all of your healthy food tips.
Can I make this with fresh chickpeas soaked overnight.
Absolutely. In fact, that’s how I do it these days. Enjoy!
You said. Your “mileage may vary” when talking about your temp on your air fryer lol 😂
I’m a car guy, so those turns of phrase naturally slip in, lol.
My air fryer has a grate for the bottem should i put tin foil in the bottem?
So does mine. I don't normally put foil in; I think the grate help with air movement.
Hello, can you do it without oil? Thank you!
I've honestly never tried. You can certainly give it a shot -- just keep a close eye on them in the cooking process. If they look like they are about to burn or seem unpleasant, then add a bit of oil if you can. A thin coat of oil helps protect food when it is air frying/roasting, and also helps facilitate the cooking process. Thanks for watching and happy cooking!
@@IWantToCook
Thank you very much!
Would avocado oil be okay?
Yes, that should be fine. Avocado oil has a high smoke point, which means it should do well coating the chickpeas in the heat of the air fryer. Enjoy! 😀
I made these. They were crispy and tasty. I adjusted time. But they were very dry, drying out my mouth. Any fix?
You can try adding a bit more oil for cooking and/or tossing with a bit of melted butter or olive oil when serving. It’s definitely an experiment, but I think you’ll find tasty results. Thanks for checking out the channel and trying a recipe. 🙏
@@IWantToCook I'll try that but they were dry inside. Hope it works. Thanks
Making this right now just rinsed them off I'll let you know ty for sharing!
I was thinking lemon and tajin would you still use oil?
Those would be great additions. But yes, using oil - even just a light coating - is important when air frying. It’s what helps food crisp. Cheers!
@@IWantToCook thank you 😊
I wonder if this will work with edamame beans? As they sell roasted ones in packs.
Great idea, and one I hadn’t thought of! The texture is similar, so it just might.
Yes it works.
Ramen noodle flavor pack. Your choice of shrimp, beef, chicken, or butter...
Gonna use avocado oil.
Curried chickpeas are great! Use curry seasoning.
Great idea! Love curry seasoning.
Did you bake or air fry?
These were made in an air fryer. Mine only has one setting, which is air fry. If yours has more functions, I'd still recommend a basic air fry. Cheers!
Thanks
Thank you so much!! 🙏🙏
Ive tried these in an oven and the chickpeas popped like popcorn all over the oven. How can i stop this from happening in the air fryer?
Interesting. I haven’t experienced that. Perhaps try lowering the heat? And if the chickpeas are still tasty, I say pop away in an air fryer!
Instant pot cooks dry chickpeas in about 40min. You can get dry ones for like a dollar a pound, dry!
They’re a regular in my Instant Pot. In fact, I just had hummus for lunch!
So my chick peas exploded in the air fryer. Is this par for the course?
Gads, that’s a new one on me. Occasionally I’ll have some open up with the heat, but not burst.
Thank u for that just to cheek that's 199 celeios yes
Correct. I messed up while editing that video ;)
Would canola oil be ok to use? It's the only type I have at home right now since I don't cook much
Yes. I use it in mine with fine results. Cheers!
@@IWantToCook thank you for the quick answer! I'm definetely gonna try this recipe tomorrow after work 😊
390 degrees F is 180 Celsius, not 9 Celsius as in the video :)
Indeed. Boneheaded mistake on my part when editing video. Cheers.
Caribbean ppl been doing this forever tho!
Right on! I bet they use delicious seasonings, too.
whats 9 celsuis, help, im lost
It’s a mistake. As mentioned in the other comments, that should be 199. Blame the video editor (me 🤣). Cheers!
Are they heard on the teeth or is it more like popcorn ?
Depends on how long you cook them. I like mine on the crunchy side, but I don’t think they are as hard on the teeth as something like Corn Nuts. Cheers!
@@IWantToCook cool. TY for the response. cant w8 to make some.
This should have been obvious but put the oil on them before you season and it will coat them evenly.
Yea, exactly this. Thank you.
literally have the same can.
Could I keep them for a month or two if I put them in a mason glass jar with an oxygen absorber & vacuum seal???? Ty.
That I don’t know. Mine are usually gone in a few days because they get gobbled so fast, lol. I’d take it day by day and see how they are; when quality or taste degrades, then it’s time to toss. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the recipe! 🙏
MY AIRFRYING OVEN ONLY GOES UP TO 220 C HOW LONG N WHAT TEMPRATURE SHOUL I COOK MY CHICK PEAS
I recommend 200 C. Start with 10-15 minutes and check from there. Cook to the crispness that you want. Cheers!
Dumping the Aquafaba down the drain is criminal. So much great stuff to do with it.
I must admit I’ve never heard this term. Thanks for the education. Liquid in which beans have cooked, especially canned beans, tends to make me feel - shall we say - bloated. But after some research on aquafaba, I may use this nutritional liquid in my homemade food for the pups. Thank you!
@@IWantToCookYou are welcome. Try it as the base for a mayonaise or a chocolate mouse. You can even bake merengue with it.
i air fried it on 9 celsius for like 15 days. still not done.
Lol. Patience, my friend. It’s like dry-aged beef. 🤣
