They also mentioned in the 48 Hours episode that Yvonne’s sister was battling with an aggressive cancer while also fighting for Yvonne and held on long enough to provide her testimony that helped convict Brian. She wanted to do this last thing for her sister. She passed away days later.

This dude would absolutely re-offened if he feels the need to. I think the threshold for him committing the murder was so low, because he thought nobody in Panama would care, and he didn't think of, running into one of her relatives in California. And he was coked up the whole time, made him just more believe that he would get away with it. That wife of his, can be happy he is in jail/prison, because he would beat her and the kids up, too, if he was still out. That dude is so vile.
I guess he was afraid, that Yvonne (sorry don't know her correct spelling) would tell everyone how cruel he was to her and he probably told his ex not, that he was living in Panama with another woman. He didn't want to jeopardize the control of his ex (and kids), so Yvonne had to go. Would be one problem less for him. And it worked for a certain amount of time.
That was also no crime of passion, that was calculated. 26 years is a joke, but the prosecution probably took the safe route.

Yvonne was equally delusional and ignored all the red flags because she was desperate for a relationship... After a layoff and divorce, she needed time to regroup her life but instead she got a F- Boy to distract her from personal growth. She also stayed after his DV which shows her low self esteem. I want other women to learn from this- No Man is better than the Wrong Man ladies!!!!

Thank you for covering this case, Annie. Yvonne's story needed to be told because her life was cruelly ripped away from her after she sold everything she owned and moved to another country with who she thought was the love of her life. However, it is important to emphasize the military aspect of this case as well.
I know people who have served in the military and some of them are decent human beings. But there are some who use their deadly training to live a life of violence.
One ex-Marine I know went on to join a biker club and lived a life of violence and criminal activity, he hurt other people and has been to jail numerous times. It never ends well. He cannot get a decent job and has to work part-time minimum wage jobs to support his drinking and smoking habit. I tried to help at one point. I felt bad for him and bought him groceries because he claimed he didn't have food and told me his sob stories about how life was unfair because he is a disabled veteran. However, after using the last $40 from my paycheck that week and buying him groceries, he never ate them and let them rot in his fridge.
I started to witness things he said, did, and stories he told. Then I realized that had taken advantage of my kindness because he is just a user. His cost of drinking at a local private bar, which he was a paying member, was more important than food, rent, decent clothes, or a vehicle. Needless to say, I cut ties with him and when he realized this, he tried to gaslight me into thinking I was a terrible person for giving up on him.
In this case, Brian lied and manipulated Yvonne into moving to another country all the while cheating on her with his ex. He self-snitched by saying he could kill someone without remorse. He did everything in his power to make himself the prime suspect.
The fact that he only got 26 years for murdering Yvonne is absolutely horrifying to me especially after he used Yvonne's email to make her family think she was still alive.
He should be in prison for the rest of his life. His wife stands beside him but she is obviously not intelligent. He told Yvonne that he loved her and Yvonne believed his lies. She was stabbed and dismembered. What makes his wife think that he won't do the same to her if given half a chance? If he's done it to one woman he claimed to loved, he could do it again.
She is stupid for standing by him for the simple reason that he could kill again, without remorse. He is a monster. She thinks staying by his side will keep the family together but eventually, their daughters will learn that he went to prison because he is a monster.

I couldn’t imagine the instant fear and panic setting in hardcore from thinking the worst of the worst when someone goes missing. There’s a lot of sick people in this world who prey on people and if people can do just that by kidnapping a child, I’d imagine they’d do pretty much anything without thinking twice about it. Maybe I watch too many crime documentaries but it’s reality. You’d never know if you never learn about it I guess lol. Were you able to get your brother back? It angers me, it makes me literally sick to my stomach, and it hurts me to know that a so called brother in arms would do something so disgusting to not just a human being but a person that trusted him to protect her from the very things that he was supposed to protect her from. We took an oath to protect the innocent and even more so when it's someone that trusts us with their heart as well as their lives. We are supposed to be heroes and it's pos like Brian that tarnish everything we stand for. My heart goes out to the family. I'm from Panama and remember when this case happened. Murders of foreigners is very rare in the country so this was all over the news. I also remember this case because growing up, my grandparents lived near Dana Point in California and during my summer vacations in the US with them we would regularly go to the yacht club in Dana Point for lunch or dinner. So I'll never forget this case due to the Panama-Dana Point connection. So random and crazy!
Anyway, RIP Yvonne and her sweet pup. I'm so sorry you never got to explore more of the gems that Panama offers because that piece of sh*t took your life. You and your family deserved so much better!
Edited: I just reached the end of the episode and I need to you to do a video on "Wild Bill"!! No one ever talks about him yet that case was wild for Panama. Killing Foreigners is already so rare, so a serial killer is even rarer. I was glued to my computer eating up every single update on the "Wild Bill" case. I think it was an American ex pat journalist in Panama who blew the story wide open so I followed all his updates minute by minute as they were occuring. Wild to think that Yvonne had stayed at his home, but they were both in Bocas so I'm not totally shocked by this since it is a small community.
