How is someone labled "very cooperative" when all they did was lie everytime they spoke? There are some sick monsters in this world.

    • @Katz_Pajamas

In hindsight. Like at the time he was thought to be cooperative because they didn't know the lies yet. And although he was lying he was cooperating in the sense that he was answering questions, wasn't resisting, and was seeming to be very helpful even though it turned out it was all BS...he is a monster.

I covered her story as a reporter. I accidentally stepped on part of the charred ground where she had been and started crying. Her story was one of the few that really broke me. The amount of police/ems workers who quit after experiencing this was breathtaking. They just couldn’t do it anymore.

I live about 10 miles from where this happened. My husband went to school with her. So many questions still in the opinions of alot of locals. What he did to her was beyond barbaric. She suffered so much. I pray she found peace. Annie if you read this please look into another case that happened not fat from here. Jessica Johnson hotn lake Mississippi. She was found tied to a 36 inch high mailbox by one shoe string and local police despite many experts saying it impossible have ruled it suicide. Her kids deserve justice for their mom. She would never willingly leave them. Ever. Please look into it. Please.

Hearing Cole get choked up talking about how Jessica looked when he found her basically naked and burned alive; his testimony really got to me. Although I’m glad that it was him to show up and treat her with respect and dignity in the last few moments of her life, I know how traumatizing that was for him and I hope he has gotten the help he needs to heal from that horrifying experience

That's a Mother's LOVE for her child! She put her feelings aside knowing how much pain her sweet baby was in. I would rather go through a life of pain than to see my child go through a MINUTE of the absolutely horrific pain that child was experiencing! My heart just breaks over this whole story, IMO I think the mother probably committed suicide...Seriously though, I believe that he was GUILTY of this monstrous crime, he LIED continuously, his phone proved that he was in the area and more than likely he had raped her, then smothered her until she was unconscious. His own friend testified that he had went back and got the gasoline can at some point...Then this MONSTER callously poured the gas ON HER AND THEN SET HER ALIGHT! 😢! He was trying to get rid of all the evidence and he did because there was NO evidence at all. I wish I had been on that jury because he would never have walked free again!
(Sorry this is so long) Peace and love to all ❤

Same. That made me bawl. My dog was having seizure after seizure when I took him to the vet they let me back there when they couldn’t stop the seizures without him being unconscious I leaned in and said “it’s ok, I love you, you can go” he stopped seizing looked into my eyes, made a heavy sigh and died. Your child would be a million times harder I know but one thing that’s good is that she had her mom there and she got some relief before releasing the pain and moving on. 🙏 hug your babies tight and enjoy your life.

Her mother and I were close friends, and she often told me that story over and over...It took her forever to get to see her, of course. She finally made it into her room and then gave her permission to go..right after she said that, God took her home. Mom passed 2 years ago and the only comfort I find is that they are now reunited once again. It's a shame she never got justice!

Small town rural America is a terrifying place. So much meth, so many guns, a lot of unreported domestic violence, a lot of poverty. Everyone’s always like “Things like this just don’t happen here.” Like no duh, only 12 people live in your town. That means a murder rate of 8%. Cities have crime but the likelihood of you being a victim of a violent crime is so much lower.

I believe the defendant did it and was able to get away from the scene without any detection. He was athletic and knew the area. The police did a good job ruling out other suspects. I think asking her who did this to you was the confusion because anyone in that condition could not talk properly. So sad this case was never resolved. It’s truly heartbreaking and such a tragedy.

@@Lucy-mf5gk According to a statement Jerry King gave to the police, King found the keys in a small ditch off the side of the road while walking down Main Street with his daughter in a stroller in Courtland, Mississippi. This was about a quarter mile from the crime scene where Jessica Chambers was found, barely alive, blackened by soot with burns on more than 90 percent of her body.
King told the police he noticed a pink rope with a set of keys attached and picked them up, also noting a keychain that read “Ben’s Auto & Diesel Repair” attached to it, connecting the keys to Jessica’s father Ben Chambers.
The keys in evidence had multiple keychains, including the “Ben’s Auto & Diesel Repair” tag. Other key fobs included a die, a pink hand sanitizer bottle, a footprint with embossed words of religious sentiment - and of course, the keys to Jessica’s Kia Rio that was shown to jurors in its burned, rusty condition at the Panola County impound lot in the first trial in 2017.
King, who has multiple priors including a DUI, resisting/obstructing arrest and grand larceny, told the police he put the keys at the bottom of the stroller and went home. In his dictated statement to the police, King said Mary Turner - his girlfriend - called an agent to turn over the keys.
In his testimony, King said he found the keys two days after Jessica Chambers died, and that his girlfriend noticed the auto repair key fob. He also testified that he gave them to his toddler daughter to play with as they headed home, a statement that differed from the written police statement.
According to King’s testimony, he thought the keys might be valuable because of their “shiney-ness,” and decided to pick them up and take them home.
Deputy Tyler Mills, who collected the keys as evidence, was also called to the stand, saying that King’s girlfriend called him after King found the keys. He testified that he went to King’s home then returned to the scene with King. King placed the keys approximately where he found them. Mills then photographed them on the ground. Those photos were shown to the jury.
On cross-examination, the defense pointed out that Mills was part of the Sheriff Department’s narcotics team and had never collected evidence in a homicide. The defense challenged how Mills handled the keys and his reliance on King’s recollection of when and where they were found.
Major Barry Thompson, the lead investigator for the Panola County Sheriff's Department, also testified just prior to a field trip jurors took to the relevant locations.
Thompson told jurors that King had mentioned the keys were found off the road in a gully, or a ditch, pointing out to the jury where King lived at the time on a map of the town.
In the cross-examination, defense attorney Alton Peterson asked Thompson how he knew the keys were found in that gully - and Thompson admitted that they only knew where they were based on King’s word. He also conceded that they took photographs of where King indicated he found the keys even though King admitted he moved them before calling the Sheriff’s Department.
The real kicker about Jessica’s keychain? The prosecution alleges that they have evidence of suspect Quinton Tellis’ DNA on the car keys.
Although there was a mixture of four male DNA profiles on the keys, three unidentified and the fourth that cannot exclude Tellis, Tellis does admit that there were he drove Jessica’s car some days prior to her death when he drove her to the doctor.
In this retrial, perhaps we’ll learn more about the keys and why they were found two days after the murder on the side of a street.

      Nope, he's an innocent man.
Quinton Tellis lured Jessica there for Roger Hentz and Annette Hill, where Annette attacked Jessica with a hammer. When she finished beating Jessica, she and Roger doused Jessica with accelerant and set her alight.
It was over the $300 Jessica stole from Roger. She sold him Lortabs, which turned out to be acetaminophen. Most people know that you don't steal, or attempt to steal, from Roger and live to tell about it. Apparently Jessica didn't.
She was trying to say _Annette_ not Eric. That's why she kept shaking her head no, not Eric.
Tellis, Hentz, and Hill are solely responsible for Jessica's murder.

If I remember correctly her father said the 6 black members of the jury found him not guilty during the second trial, while the 6 white jurors found him guilty. At this point I’m not sure if justice will ever be brought, simply because the race stuff seems more prevalent than what actually happened to that poor girl. Which really sucks.

I believe Quintin definitely did it, especially after finding out he'd murdered the other girl for a debit card.

I've been seeing ALOT of that today more so than ever before and I'm 40yo.
I live in a predominantly black community and my 2 teens had to stay inside for the last month of the summer because the bullying and threats to hurt them had shaken all if us. And the "Go f yourself white h*e" written on our back door because my 12 wouldn't date some 14yo boy. She politely told him "Im not allowed to date anyone" that was another reason to torment her.
My lease is up in 4mo and I am outta here.

A young man here got caught up in running drugs. Apparently he owed money and he was severely beaten then set on fire. He survived but lost his arms and legs. Fast forward 10 or so years and he took his own life. Stay away from drugs, nothing good ever comes from that life.

Being a retired Correctional Officer, I've heard many stories told by inmates. They always have to tell on themselves somehow. And you said Quentin said the car seat was moved back, and he also showed a friend a gas can. But he did text her that a friend was coming instead and goodnight. So it is curious that he gives those tid bits. Just some thoughts from experience. Honestly, I can't say he really did it. It breaks my heart for her and her family. No matter what she was doing, she didn't deserve to die so horrifically. But the way she died tells me that someone was very angry with her. I hope the family has been able to find some peace. And Cole, the 1st responder, my God, he will never unsee any of that. I completely understand his situation, and I just pray that he is able to get help to cope with everything. Those situations are life changing. Prayers and love to all involved and Thsnk you Annie for the case coverage 💜💜💜

That first responder who testified was so sad. You can hear the trauma he went thru helping her. Fire and acid attacks are by far the worst cases ever. You have to be pretty evil individual to do that - you not only have to throw an accelerant but you also have to light a match. That’s a lot of time in between definitely premeditated- idc if that person doing that kind of act is in the heat of the moment (no pun intended) or not - you literally have to do a lot of action before lighting someone on fire.

  • @Middle-AgedWhiteGuy
    @Middle-AgedWhiteGuy 7 місяців тому +9

I spent some time in state prison when I was in my early twenties. Many people do not go by what they refer to as, their government name. They use street names. Like "perk" or "c-money", etc. So she could have been saying his street name. I'm willing to bet, if you talk to a bunch of people from around that time, Quentin's street name would sound like herc or Eric or something along those lines. People who are familiar with an individual, would use their street name because it is preferred by the individual. I believe that the jury should not have been chosen from that community. They should have gone to a larger venue with a larger jury pool. This would make sure that things are looked at in a very objective way, and it would eliminate the fear that a local person would fear of retaliation from friends of the accused.

  • @jas0206

I think the “ck” sound in “Eric/Derek” was her trying to say “Quentin.” And I think if a new jury knew of the second murder, they’d be convinced. It takes a special kind of evil to commit murder.
