This is my favorite game you play! It's a shame the Union playthrough won't be able to be finished, but I'm excited to get started with this one! Sidenote: they should really add a feature allowing you to ask your commander for reinforcements.
Man we love anything you do on here. And we’ll always support you. This is my favorite game you play on this channel by far. I hope they can make a revolutionary war game with this style of game. It’s class 👌
So happy to see that this new career mode is being turned into another series, personally i like watching the failures more then the victories because its very intresting for the story but i think that this campaign is going to be great!
I was reading about Longstreet's Gettysburg Artillery barrage and by sheer numbers it was massive, the guy did everything for Pickett's charge to have lesser recoil, it was a colossal mistake in the hindsight
The Battle of Fairfax, Virginia was the first major battle between Union Forces and the Confederacy after the taking of Fort Sumter. The first day of the battle was inconclusive but edging towards a union victory as they had routed the Confederacy over the small river in the area. The second day saw the Confederacy make gains back and beat the union back to their positions they had on the 1st day. The stand out commander was most certainly Lt. Col Mowery, a West Point graduate from Kentucky from a wealthy family of horse farmers who took command of the 18th Mississippi in the first days of the war who one the first day of the battle also took command of the 7th Louisiana from Harry Hayes who with these two brigades he held the left flank but at the end of the 2nd day saw the Union forces route the Confederacy after Lt. Col Mowery brigades broke. Had the Confederacy better supported their lines and kept Lt. Col Mowery better supported we may have seen Confederate forces march to the border of Maryland.
Yeah that readiness system can be quite frustrating. I once had two supercharged divisions, 36000 men marching on Winchester only to stumble upon Jackson and his... 917 soldiers. Had to trample them but that shot down my readiness to 0, and i couldn't even walk the last 10 miles to the undefended town and its two supply depots... 😢
Great start to the campaign! It looks like you have learned some new tricks and are being less aggressive during the battles (to your benefit). I look forward to watching the rest of this series. Happy holidays! 🙂
I am happy to say I bought Grand Tactician The Civil War thanks to watching Chris doing it & showing it.. now I only need to buy Whiskey & Lemon Dlc for christmas then ^^ Though on Hard dif as the US in 1862 camp, had Grants old "Army or Corp Command" given to Sherman, and Promoted Grant to Hallick's old Command, now I had huge Major Vic over the Southerns in Tennesse they lost 9k in loss, mine were okay but Sherman got WIA & few others too..They came in from two sides..wasnt easy to mirco to pronged attacks though by the Cornfeds.
Great video. I saw that all the commands had your battle Flag. The updates seemed to have made it so much nicer to play. I love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
career was abit of a buggy mess and still kinda is, and they have fixed many of them. waiting for them to fix a few more bugs because i LOVE career mode.
Thank you very much for the really interesting videos about this game. Unfortunately my English isn't the best, but I'll use your explanation to improve it
Readiness isnt the biggest issue, its the replenishmet of the troops. Youll have to sit and wait anyways waiting troops to refit and youll get rediness same time. Im fighting as union at -64 and my army is roughly 40-50% of its max troops.
Glory hallelujah, I always like strategy games but hate when I start to control more units than I can micro effectively, eg im a better brigade commander over division. This is the exact game I’ve been wanting for years! Tepid warm on the fact that it’s civil war themed, would have loved ww2 but still I will be getting this on my next paycheque
If you don't mind the non-western setting, Nobunaga's Ambition: sphere of influence - ascension is a similar game, you can choose a historical officer to play as or customize your own.
They just posted patch 1.13 is coming out sometime in the next week (end Nov/early Dec)-- hope it doesn't break your save! (see dev post in steam discussions for the fixes)
I like the idea of the readiness system it's realistic but at the same time the game takes it too far. In my experience once you get to divisional command you can fight 1 maybe 2 major battles a year and the rest is just sitting around waiting for your readiness to go back up so you can move again. It does make the game very frustrating in this career mode since you are limited to only your command so theres a lot of sitting around and doing nothing while the AI fights itself. They really need to go through and adjust the settings to better fit this style of gameplay instead of the normal campaign because it just doesn't work very well right now and leads to boredom very quickly. The other major issue I've seen is individual regiments getting their perks. It's basically busted right now and almost impossible to get any before the career campaign is over. Why can I get my regiments up to 5 star "crack" troops according to the game yet none of them are due any perks yet. It makes no sense and really needs to be adjusted.
"Not sure why this unit here has my flag." Well, that is because it is standing near one of the corners of the geographical ara objective you have been given, which is denoted at that zoom level with those corner flags in addition to the colored area.
I've always been extremely in favor of robust and detailed difficulty options that let you tailor the game to what you want to play! Accessibility is important.
I'm intrigued, everyone thought it was perfectly normal, suddenly 22k of prestige appeared for a companion? i've had to grind tons of battles for 1k prestige. But yeah, maybe as intended. lol
Finally bought the dlc three weeks ago and it was still terrible and unplayable. The ai is miserably bad and there were so many bugs affecting my troops it was almost unplayable.
It’s rough in the UI but it’s playable in my opinion. You have to have patience though. There is a lot that is poorly explained too but you will figure it out.
"Look, there stands Mowery like a wooden fence.. Come on boys. Rally behind the Mississippians"

There is. Its called taking Controll of other commanders units by paying with Prestige.

that would be really cool. only game that's coming out like that is ultimate general american revolution. it actually looks pretty cool.
@@xpqzl2551 bro have you got the alpha? it's unbelievable

I was reading about Longstreet's Gettysburg Artillery barrage and by sheer numbers it was massive, the guy did everything for Pickett's charge to have lesser recoil, it was a colossal mistake in the hindsight
It was the largest artillery duel to date, almost 300 guns in total, evenly split on the two sides

Army of Northern VA right off the bat. I’m here for it.

really enjoy these videos. Keep em coming!
Very cool, I love your runs and the knowledge you share all throughout
So hyped for this new series!
Happy I found you site. Love your type of games and content. Keep it up!
Dang it Chris you got me addicted to this game watching your playthroughs. Got it on Steam Sale and i cant put it down now.
Keen to see more!!!

Pumped for the new Confederate playthrough! Off to a great start.
I haven’t even watched the video yet and you get a like just for that quality thumbnail
Excellent videos please keep them going
These are extremely enjoyable to watch
You can turn off that the units move on their own (for example pulling back) by disabling "own initative" in the same menu as "rally".
This DLC is amazing, i spent like 10h a day playing it last week.
I’m waiting for the new update will definitely be able to do more, with training building of units.

As a Devonian, I can't say I hold with you choosing the Cornish flag as your battle flag, but I do look forward to the series nonetheless.
Fair enough. My wife and kids are Devonian as well. Her great grandma was born in Tavistock.
This is game play with the DLC right? Just now buying the base game, but this does look pretty dang nice.

Very creative with the thumbnail 😂
I get a Mosby vibe from the thumbnail pic. Forward for our homes and liberty. Onward to victory!
It's my face on Mosby's body so that makes sense!
@@TheHistoryGuy I thought it was. I love Mosby. This DLC is perfect for those wanting to play as a Mosby or Quantrill.

This will be a quick war with you at the reins..

First time watching a playthrough of this game. Hopefully you'll get the federals next time

What would have happened had the confederates won Fairfax?
Will you play the series in a grey uniform?
Unfortunately I don't have one.
Alright@@TheHistoryGuy
i am playing this game ... love it ...
I believe this is gonna be a real JB Hood roleplay lmao
/jk

Absolutely. So much fun.
Hi i love your videos

VTH has got a Elvis haircut in this video
I'm intrigued, everyone thought it was perfectly normal, suddenly 22k of prestige appeared for a companion? i've had to grind tons of battles for 1k prestige. But yeah, maybe as intended. lol
I don’t see how you turned off readiness.
It was during the campaign set up so it wasn't shown on here.
Too bad about the Union campaign but i'm excited to watch this new campaign
Good guys campaign
I wish I had a good computer to get this game I got it in a old computer but it was unplayable with the lag and how old it was
That's a tough choice. An early army command or serving under the Great.
how do u even make cores?
I can't unless I'm an army commander.
I bought this day 1 The Ai killed it for me played 6 hrs not for me .. lets see .
Didn't fancy dressing up in a Confederate uniform then Chris? 😂
Not opposed to it, I just don't have one!
Finally bought the dlc three weeks ago and it was still terrible and unplayable. The ai is miserably bad and there were so many bugs affecting my troops it was almost unplayable.
Kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! was a Southern State.
DC tonight 235 am
Glad to see playing GTCW again. Sorry, it's rebell scum!
This game is impossible
Is this game still unplayable? It looks fantastic but the reviews are always the same . Keep waiting until ......
