So due to garbled orders, the 2 SC dismounted, advanced on foot under fire from enemy infantry, and then charged on foot with cavalry swords drawn. And won. I don't know if that's derp or impressive.
Great playthrough! One suggestion regarding when on defense: Seeking cover is great, but having your troops lie down behind cover is AWESOME!!! Additionally, keeping a couple of regiments in reserve, and using their skirmishers to counter enemy flanking actions allows you to delay the enemy with minimal casualties, and leaves those regiments free to use in a pinch.
@@FirstOfTheMagii agree, it makes it so much more sad that its practically unplayable and the devs announced recently they are no longer working on the game.
I work in Winchester, VA! Great little city with a lot of history. They have George Washington’s headquarters building right on the old town walking mall. You should come visit sometime!
One of the regiments that you mainly fought in this video (15th Massachusetts), was mustered from where I'm from. Central MA/Worcester County. Found that kinda cool. I live in a smaller city that has a monument dedicated to them downtown :D
Colonel Chris mowers commanding the army of northern Virginia. One of his brigade commanders is Brigadier General Samuel cooper. I got a laugh outta that one
I love the history inserts in your playthroughs, thank you for previewing a game I am very interested in grabbing. Hope you and the fam are doing well!!
Close scrape in that fight good job. I see you chose Breckinridge he was one of my ancestors.another was John Breckinridge Grayson, he was a brigade general but died only two or three months into the war. He fought in every battle in Mexico.
My dad grew up right on the top of Lee’s hill. Right next to where Lee said the quote, “it’s a shame war is terrible.” It’s just insane to think a place I’d been to so often is where one of my favorite historical quotes originated…
It's funny that you mentioned John C. Fremont. I'm actually watching this episode from Fremont County, Colorado, which is one of the areas he explored. 😆
Huger street in downtown Columbia, SC is named after him and I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve heard people province it “Hug-er” street. Interesting place to live as a civil war buff.
Close there were 8 The first 5 were Cooper, Pt Beauregard, Albert Johnston, Joe Johnston, Lee. then He added Smith for Trans Mississipi and Bragg. Hood was given temporary and Senate said nicely since he had lost command and not given another that they that he lost the rank of general and reverted back to rank of Lt General.
I see that you aren’t using the bugle commands. Hover over the yellow hourglass after giving an order and you should be able to get them to advance while in contact to get them to that fence early on.
I got hooked on your first attempt on this game also my girlfriend a while a ago had a free trial to a ancestry site and found out im related to 4 lieutenants out of missouri and my great great grandpa fought for the union out of D.C.
Is pat cleburne not in this game as one of the confederate generals?? Just curious. Haven’t seen him on any play through yet and that would be a strange omission
to get higher command than Corp's you will need like I think 5K Prestige or more & also to have used to same to get promotion from Lt col or Col were ur path ine Lemon & Whiskey DLC beguns at. I have done some testing on it, though AI is still a Mess on whatever side u pick & Try to use some Prestige to make other Armys to move or engage the Hostile side..is painful to watch..
Cool Game, but why do you seem to ignore most map features? Why stop at the bottom of a hill with a stream to cross instead of stopping on top of the hills?
Take initiative off from all your commanders and they stop doing stupid stunts, like that extra regiment that you took. Initiative allow its commander to choose best action it sees fit and not follow your orders

This is exactly the game I have always wanted. I love your videos and look forward to seeing this games progression. Looks great so far!
Felt the same way when I discovered it through him a year or so ago. It was the game I hadn't realized I'd always wanted

@@Bear-88 Wow big shame that they released the DLC as a cash grab to then quit working on the game

Already know it's gonna be great!
Loving these daily videos! I was actually looking forward to this video all day at work.
It would be cool if you could give out medals and reprimand based on commanders performance

I live in Winchester. Seeing this old map is really cool. Now Mount Hebron Cemetery is right in the middle of town instead of on the outskirts

Nice, new episode!

Hey VTH, I’D really reccommend the game The last train home to you. It is a historical game regarding the Czech legionares in the times of ww1!
you can get wounded i know that for sure, haven taken a bullet too the arm, you can see it in the character menu
Just noticed the thumbnail is an antiquated picture of you lmaoo

Bravo good show chap
God I love watching you play this game 😂

Love your general picture.
Great win
the other 2 were Braxton Bragg and Edmund Kirby Smith
It is well aware that war is so terrible or we should grow to fond of it Chris mowery 1862
First Calvary charge killed their battery in the beginning, nice AI error that turned out better.

I find the weapon bit the most frustrating in career mode
mr sam nixon I'm jonesing for the next episode

Wrong name for the video? Guess we're starting on number one!!
"I think Things are going to be pretty Quiet now."
An air traffic controller's famous last words. And a Confederate general's.
How do you move your army as one unit?
Why didn't you fall back to the right of that army that wouldn't come to help you? Would you lose prestigie?
Cool Game, but why do you seem to ignore most map features? Why stop at the bottom of a hill with a stream to cross instead of stopping on top of the hills?
Because the stream provides cover in the game that the hill does not.
Aquia is pronounced A Kwhy A
Both long As
Of course your general can get killed . It happened to you in the union play remember. :) (Until you reset the save of course)
I don’t remember that. I was killed in Ultimate General American Revolution but I don’t remember being killed in this game.
@@TheHistoryGuy Ohh, you are probably correct. I am probably misremembering. (Too many good videos in short order. :D)

use your cannon too counterbattery it next time
Those are 24 pounder howitzers. Not really designed for counter battery fire. Smoothbores that are much more effective at anti-personnel.
