- I finally bought my dream amp and couldn't be happier. This is a raw/quick run through of this glorious amplifier. If you are searching for big clean, low gain tones you came to the right place!
Sounds killer!! Thanks for the great demo! Cheers, Eli
Why do TR amps sound amazing and everything else sounds like shit compared to them? What's the magic sauce?
@@tubingforever they sacrifice 3 virgins for every amp they make but forcing them to listen to the Slow Dancing in a Burning Room Intro on a Line 6 until they die.
Good on you bro! Owning a Two Rock is also my dream. Great tone and playing!
Nice demo and great playing. Thanks for sharing!
Congrats on the amp! I played a Studio Pro in NY and it was a very fun amp. Amazing cleans.
Thanks John! I can only describe it as an HD Amp. Like you said, lots of fun to play. Thanks for watching!
Sounds great, good job on the demo, I love my bloomfield drive.
That amp is something special man!
Sounds fantastic.
Why am I watching this video? I own this amp and I wanna listen while I’m at work. Haha cheers and congrats on your new amp, man. It’s a GREAT one!
It's like owning an HD guitar amplifier right? Such a great piece of gear.
Maybe my question in the post apply to you as well, since you own one :) I have one as well, and find out I have the 12AT7 in V2 position, but the booklet say the 12AT7 should be in V3 instead. Do you have the 12AT7 in V2 or V3 (V2 is the far back left corner tube if you look the amp from behind)... Thanks in advance!
Sounds killer and looks killer. One of my 2 favorite finish options. Also love the British racing green with tan (I forget what they call it) grill cloths.
🤘
Great demo
Great review , a lot of the other reviews only focus on the clean sounds or getting drive only from pedals, great to see the amp pushed a little . Sounds glorious. .
Thanks so much!!
Do you still have this amp? If it’s possible would massively appreciate a video showing what it sounds like with the gain at maximum on the various gain structures and the mid switch on and off - never seen that elsewhere .
@@neildenman1776 I do still have it, it’s my number one amp- even over top of the Bloomfield Drive. I’ll see what I can do with n the video for ya!
All of these guys that do demos play circles around me. They need a schlub like me on one of these.
haha - schlub or not everyone deserves to have a play on one of these - it's like HD guitar
A real amp!!! Real pedals too. The pedal addiction is in another video.
Haha 100% I just like exploring new sounds
Hey mark this is amp Sound sweet I was looking into getting a Car Mercury but I'm gonna have a look at this two rock :D
Can't go wrong with either!
Great demo! When you get Pro Tools to cooperate, I'd love to hear two things: 1) The differences in the gain switch on the back of the amp. 2) Some more drive pedals as I ordered this for a pedal platform amp. Thanks!
Thanks man! A Part Two will be on the way :-)
Cool sound
Great amp sound and demo. That stupid pro-tools, I ditched it years ago and use Acoustica Mixcraft pro studio and could not be happier. Give it a go, it is inexpensive and wonderful software🙂 They have a demo version to try first!
Thanks! Yeah PT can be a bare sometimes but knock on wood all is well with it now. I'll peep Mixcraft to see what it's all about too. I've been messing with Luna a bit too
Really nice demo and a beautiful amp ! You mention it is loud . Is it too loud or can you dial it down to get some home playing out of it ?
Kristofer Polak I can dial it down for home playing using the master volume. I also sometimes use my pedals as an attenuator. It’s not been a problem enjoying at home too :-)
Oh man it does have a gain channel! For some reason I looked at several amps similar to this on Reverb and I didn’t see a gain channel on them. Must of been older versions. I should of watched Part 1 first haha I left a comment of Part 2 basically saying I like to use amp gain along with pedals and wondering if I should continue to save for the Bloomfield or the Traditional Clean. Great to know. I love the tone of this amp. I went and listened to the Bloomfield and this sounds just as good to me. I’m sure the Bloomfield has some slight tonal differences in person and has more features and the brown suede looks super slick. But I would be super happy with this amp. Did you buy it from Two Rock directly or from a guitar/music shop? I’m looking to get one asap.
I actually got it from Humbucker Music. I love that retail store! Yeah, I feel like this amp holds its own in the lineup, but the Bloomfield’s second channel is pretty breath taking man.
@@markhopkinsmusic thanks man! Appreciate it!
@@jordandangelo180 anytime!
Hi Mark. Congrats for the video. Is the 1x12 cab open or close one? Cheers.
Thanks!! It’s an open back cab and it’s glorious
Wow great sound I love !! It s similar to traditional clean ? I would like approach John Mayer ´s sound in the spirit
I've never played the Traditional Clean, but I gather that has way more headroom from what I have heard. This Amp is wonderful in terms of a killer entry point for Two Rock - at least for my wallet haha - To me it's like playing in HD.
Mark...nice channel, I'll be spending some time perusing!
Have a Studio Signature Head on order and am waiting patiently...plan to run through a Barefaced Audio cab.
If you're not familiar with them, head to Rob Chapman's channel and check out "Well I Never Expected That..." published on July 3rd.
Based on the video I took a leap of faith and ordered their cheapest model to check out...also on order!
And the Duellist does RULE!
MrDreadeye Thanks!!! I’ve never heard of those cabs I’ll definitely check them out man. I have a bunch of cool gear videos coming stay tuned!
Is the amp only capable of break up at ear bleeding volumes or can it do it at low volume as well? I’m looking for edge of break up at decent volume as I will be getting my overdrive from pedals.
With the Master Volume you can definitely get edge of breakup. I use it just as you are describing so I think you'd love this amp!
What is the position of toggle mode gain structure in your video ?
Hi - great video, great amp. Curious, which gain stage are you in, and where do you have reverb send on the back set to? Thx in advance!
Hey Neal! Gain is around 1pm usually and the master is usually around 7 or 8. The Reverb send is at noon (i don't think I have messed with that too much to be honest). Just sounds so good right out of the box!
@@markhopkinsmusic Thanks much! I just got one of these and am still dialing in the sound I like. It is super lush - I did go with the 2x12. I like the TR gain the best so far, but it’s early. The one thing I am am noticing - which seems odd for TR - the reverb seems relatively faint. I have to pretty much set send on full and return at least to noon if not more to here the tank. Is that your experience? Maybe my ears are tuned to saturated reverb via my strymon flint - but I don’t think I really overdo it with the flint. Just curious as to your take.
Oh and by gain, I meant the gain stage switch on the back panel...
@@nealhartsell3880 I haven't experienced that with the reverb, but i am def not a drenched in verb kind of guy. Can't beat the flint for that though!!!
@@nealhartsell3880 oh yeah, duh, sorry - I keep it in the middle.
Hi there, killer sound! I bought that same amp new and I notice in the booklet it say the 12AT7 tube should be in V3, but in my amp it is placed in V2 instead (V2 is the far back left corner tube if you look the amp from behind). Not sure if the mistake is in the user manual or when they installed the tubes on the amp, I got the amp New in Box... Any chance for you total a look if you have the 12AT7 in the V2 position as well?
Nana
HI, I just swapped tubes in my Studio Signature combo and had the tubes in the same spots as you. After replacing all my tubes and using the locations form the manual, the reverb mostly disappears. I wrote TW about this and a couple other things, I'll come back and let you know what I find out.
@@tootiegrigio713 I’ve just found out they have updated the user manual on their website and now the chart show the tubes as the amp shipped.
I was coming back to tell you the same thing! :)) take care
So stuck. I have a tone king imperial mk2 head and cab due next month. Unsure whether to swap for the head as its the same value wise. Unsure of what amp I prefer as they both do different things I like?
both great amps - good news is, you can't go wrong!
the demo was detailed and awesome! not sure what the rattle is from though. May be its clipping???
I had Pro Tools up and running for the demo but had issues so it could be the camera clipping audio. Or, it could be my dog in the background haha
@@markhopkins2731 hahaha. Could be the camera audio. Thanks for the demo irrespective of that. I was wondering, if i have a studio pro 35 , is it worth upgrading?
@@jasonshrestha i never played the studio pro 35, but from what i understand it's a big upgrade. worth playing one if you can find a store locally that carries Two Rock. I went blind faith on it because i don't have any two rock dealers near me - i was so glad it worked out!
ps. it is great that you can actually play guitar and are demoing this amp haha. These amps will sound not so good with a bad player because they are high end, clear amps. A lot of people don't get that. If you are a good player these amps will help you sound at your best but if you aren't so great this amp is not going to magically make you sound amazing!
man, I appreciate the kind words. Guitar is a constant learning curve we're all trying to navigate! I can't wait to hear what you think - def reach out and let me know!
@@markhopkinsmusic Absolutely. I definitely sucked at guitar at one point for sure! and have still got a ridiculous amount to learn for an eternity. It is just refreshing to see a good sounding demo of these amps. It is really hard to do them justice in a video.
Great playing! Happy to hear you've went all the way and bought your dream amp. It took me a long time (and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent) before I realized I should just go after what I truly want. Better to fork out 3-4K on a killer amp than gradually spend it on pedals. I was fortunate enough to get a SP22 & 112 on a trade for an old Suhr S4.. And about 2 months ago I stumbled upon a crazy deal and ended up selling the SP22 to a friend, and snagging a CRS v2. The SP (and I assume SS) are as much of a Two Rock as the CRS. An absolutely killer platform..
BTW, I stumbled upon your channel after watching your King Tone Mini Fuzz SI demo. Do you still own that pedal? How does it stack with the Jan Ray ?
So great to meet you man! THis is where UA-cam shines when two random people can connect over something they love! Man, I do still have that pedal... in fact both of them are on my board and I use them together all the time! It def helps smooth things out although the Si Mini Fuzz is ok on its own as well. I have the Third Stone Fuzz too - that one excels at stacking with the Jan Ray. I'm new to fuzz within the past 2 years and only now do I "think" i'm starting to understand it haha
Is it ”quiet” enough to use at home as a clean pedal platform?
Yes, I’ve done it for years! The Master volume is amazing
is the camera clipping or is it just the way that the amp is responding? its very.....dumble-esque.
Jimmy W prob the camera. I am having issues with Pro Tools lately. Next video should have a mic’d cab. Thanks for watching. It’s a rad amp!
Is this the open or closed back cabinet!
It's an Open Back Cab 1x12. Sounds gigantic
Do you have any thoughts on the closed-back version of the cab with the ports in the front? that's originally the cab I was going to look to purchase with this head, but I just stumbled on a deal with the same configuration as yours for only $2800, from a guy who purchased it only a few months ago. He said the amp is way too loud for what he needs, so he's unloading it for something smaller. I feel it's a deal that I can't pass up.
Love 2Rock. I'd have to sell 4 amps.
So worth it - I sold two amps and didn't look back
Two years later... you still got it? Still like it? Pros/Cons? How is it with a band? Is it a big 35 watts of clean headroom or? Thanks :)
Still have and still love it! I’ve never cut through the mix with the band more articulately than since I have owned this amp. The one Con is it’s just a loud amp- nothing too crazy but if you really wanna crank it get an Ox and use cab sims or a hood attenuator and you’re in biz! I hope that helps.
@@markhopkinsmusic Eyyyy thanks for the quick reply! I have a Morgan RCA35 that I love but was looking for something a little different with similar wattage as a backup. It's also loud but I do have an OX for late night home recording so that takes care of that. Thanks for the input!
Can you tell us which speaker is in the cab ? 🙂
Sure thing: Two Rock 12-65B Speaker
What speakers are you using here??
It’s just the stock speaker that comes with the 1x12 cabinet, Two Rock 12-65B. Sounds huge!
Would a tube screamer give it more gain?
Yup! All the drive I get when using this amp comes from pedals. It’s an amazing pedal platform amp.
Can't decide on this or the traditional clean... used to have a studio pro ten years ago
Oh man - that's tough. I mean if you got the bread to go Traditional - i probably would too :-)
@@markhopkinsmusic I'd rather save the money lol
@@trey_dizzle4161 Amen - well this is the one for you. I freaking love this amp!
@@markhopkinsmusic it's hard to tell online but my studio pro had a round warm tone with big bass. Is this similar? Amps with ice picky highs or that shrill fatigue my ears
@@trey_dizzle4161 I never feel like it's ice picky at all. The thing i love about this amp is the big clean warm tone - but in a way that seems like HD guitar tone. It's like the amp knows what I am going to do before i do it.
Is the cab closed or open back?
Kyle Osborn it’s a 1x12 Open back can. Sounds huge!
Just bought one of these and one of the tubes is bad 😔
Ugh, that sucks Keith! Two Rock Customer Service is awesome - I am sure they will help you fix the issue.
Spent so much on the amp couldn’t afford a tuner?! Ha jk congrats man im jealous!
he's better in tune than 90% of other players that do demos haha. When playing blues sometimes we have hard days where 1 string goes out of tune during a video or something. It freakin sucks.... but the main thing is that this guy can actually play guitar!
„Your studio“... pfff
Not as good as a Bartel….
