I own the predecessor of this amp (TR Crystal) and it has been my main amp for almost 10 years now... I don't know of any amp that sounds better for clean tones. The demo is wonderful, it makes me want to play, thank you ! I'm going just now...
Your playing really has changed in the 12 months dude , so much depth and maturity. You were always fantastic but you can hear it now like a seasoned player . Your style really has established itself . When’s the album coming out ? Great video dude as always
Great video. I have a TR Traditional Clean with both the 212 and 112 cabs. I have been using the 112 to help it break up a little earlier. As good as your videos are, you just have play it to really know what it feels like
I loved the chordal part of the intro jam, if it’s not too far beneath the talent of your audience, would you maybe consider walking us through your thinking in that at some point? (I appreciate I’m likely at the bottom end technically here)
I own the predecessor that's even closer to the Mayer sig and the only way it sounds like Mayer is if you try. At the end of the day the kind of soft but incredibly powerful clean tone just spoke to me. Still have that amp and while these days I favor the Classic Reverb they're both as good as it gets and I rarely hear an amp anymore that speaks to me unless it's like line six where I'm getting something other than just an amp
sorry to break it to you, but you need to figure out a way to own one of these amps! the tones were just gorgeous! there wasn't any of the grainy harshness getting in the way of the pushed clean tones. your playing is always incredible, and you make all the gear sound great, but this just sounded like a different level to me...
Hey John , this is one of the best clean i've ever heard !! your playing is gorgeous! What load box are you using ? And what's the reverb/ delay ? ( so many questions :-) )
@@johnnathancordy even the reverb is stellar! and then it's delay / reverb ! But what fascinates me is your playing, I only play with my fingers and I don't know how to do alternate picking so your legato scales are perfect for me, i think i'll go to your patreon . Thank you John
Great demo. Although, I believe these amps must be experienced live to justify their price. Nothing hits you in the chest like a Two Rock and the reliability is beyond any cheaper (PCB) amp.
I love the amazing tone with the Tubescreamer at 3:31. The tone reminds me of Adam Lee's playing, who also uses a Two Rock lol. I wanted to pick your brain specifically on that tone and EQ. It seems to have a lot of low end, but enough high end squishiness when you dig in. Do you know when frequencies you typically boost/cut? Or do you just adjust until it sounds good?
No he would be terrible if he studied music lol. Music school is where musicians disappear into making music just for music majors. Perhaps because they lose the heart required to entertain normies. Seems like they replace heart and feel with technique and somehow think they made a good trade off. You don’t need school to tell you how to play music. You don’t need school except for things you can’t teach yourself (or get a piece of stupid paper for - yeh I got one). Doctors for instance apparently get less intelligent the longer they go to school. Avoid it unless you really have to have it to meet your life goals. Have a goal. Get in. Get out.
This sounds glorious. Since you’ve played both... how does it compare with the VHT D-50H. Ceriatone? Are they in a totally different league? Is it worth the price of admission to Two Rock?
tbh i think playing an expensive amp has more of a mental effect than...what the amp could physically produce. it makes you more confident in what you're doing, much like wearing expensive clothes or watches...they are kind of like a symbol of status, when you see someone on stage playing a two rock, before they make a sound you already think they'll sound great.
What speaker cab was used here? I love 2x 12 cabs but I don't care for open back cabs much. I am about to order a Traditional Clean head but i'm on the fence about getting the matching cabinet. I love my Mesa 2 x 12 with simple vintage 30s!
Umm I believe the circuit is marginally different. I would never recommend spending the £400 or whatever folks are trying to get for them now but they're subtly I think a tiny bit smoother/more compressed. I doubt I could tell the difference blind
When your buddy asks if you want to borrow his amp that cost more than your car, you say yes
Man I desperately want one of these things.
My car cost me a dollar, but point appreciated. ;-)
@@rockstarjazzcat wait. How?
John, I've seen your car..... Surely a Peavey bandit would match that criteria
@@johnnathancordy Relative decided that my car wasn't safe and needed upgrading to a hand me down. :)

I'd love to check out the video, but keep rewinding to hear you play. Love the vocal-like lines. Superb.
I am in love with these cleans, I think they are my favourite of all time.
Nothing like a clean tone from a Strat, especially the 2nd position (neck + middle)
Currently saving up for one of these. The rounded cleans are what I want
Thank you and your friend for 20 minutes of pure Bliss! Would love a BT drop on Patreon when or if you find time. Cheers! ✌🏻

There's a couple on Spotify already. I like seven good days a year
@@tonystartup3817 thanks buddy ill have a look 👍
Good tubeamps still beats the digital stuff when it comes to cleans. What a great amp. And great playing as always!
Yeah, i'd like to see comparison
Wow sounds stunning
It's uh. Yeh. I'm not sure many clean channels sound like that?
That is the best tone ever
Thank you, good question.
Gorgeous tone and playing JC. And that run at 5:30 was just SWEEEEEET! Keep it up
When I get better at playing and have the money, this is definitely what I'm buying. The best clean tone of all time imo.
Amazing video about everything 😯💪💪💪 thank you
The waltz jam with the pedals sounds incredibly majestic!
Nice. I have the two-rock studio pro 35, and while I would prefer the traditional clean, I still love it.

Of course Alistair, could you timestamp the range that you're most interested in and I can try to break it down?

Obviously to spend 4g USD on a clean only amp you gotta be a certain kind of way. You sound great playing this one but the ask is what it is
AMAZING amp!
Hey John, you recently made some content about going digital rigs and do we need pedals etc, I just wanted to remind you to this tone ;) #savage

now please figure out how we can cop this tone on helix 😁

Hey John , this is one of the best clean i've ever heard !! your playing is gorgeous! What load box are you using ? And what's the reverb/ delay ? ( so many questions :-) )
Fractal load box, unfortunately the reverb is the one one built into the amp, which is incredible!

it does good with humbuckers, brings out the thick, juicy tones
Aka Thick muddy tones to single coil players.

IMHO, this is what EJ should be using, hes got one pretty close i blv, i LOVE this one w/SG! :) What year n model IS the SG? Thank you JC
informative post as always JC. The K-Line and Lollars sing through this amp. Did you mic a cab or use a load box?
Loadbox yeh! In the room it would have been....pretty loud lol
5:27 nice!

Two rock cabs are very bassy, huge bandwidth with the two rock speakers. I’ve got both my two rocks running through zilla 2x12s with g12-65s
I wish the helix guys would do a two-rock
What are you playing into? No cabinet/speakers. Straight into an oxbox or something?
What load box are you using with this? It sounds wonderful...
Show us how expensive amps sound better than relevant simulation in helix/ stomp/ fractal?
how does the ts10 compare to the ts9? online people say that they have an identical circuit

It should come with a Klon
You mean a Klon should come with a Two Rock.
Sounds great, for some reason. mine breaks up way more at those settings
Pickups in my strat are pretty low output?
You might have it on 50w setting?
What looper are you using?
what are you recording it with ?
What are the settings on the TS-10?
What’s cleaner the silver sterling or the traditional ?
the SSS has more headroom, but also can do dirtier tones
100 or 40 watt?
