Sounds great. Do you think this amp could get into hard rock territory? I mostly play blues rock but occasionally play a little bit heavier stuff. What are your favourite drive pedals?
@@markhopkinsmusic Would you say the studio signature has as much headroom as the Bloomfield drive 40/20? Not sure if I should go for the Bloomfield, CRS or studio signature. I like the weight of the studio signature combo but want to make sure I have enough headroom for most gigging situations.
Hey Mark, do you think it would take a heavy distortion pedal nicely? Like a revv g3. I mainly play bluesy Mayer stuff but sometimes I like to get Metallica levels haha. It sounded like it would take just about anything.
100% man! It's such a great clean platform that I know any good pedal like the revv stuff will work amazingly through it. This amp is so good that I bet even a Metal Zone would sound righteous through it haha. I should get one just to do the experiment.
@@bret4033 I just may! I can feel the trolls coming out of the woods on that one. If I can get my hands on it for April Fool's day that would be epic. I ordered it through Humbucker Music! Love that company!
@@markhopkinsmusic you’re right man. I’ve always said, if you get a super high quality amp, you can play almost any pedal through it and it will sound amazing. @@markhopkinsmusic have you gotten a chance to compare your ss 35 to any of the newer handwired 64’ fender deluxe or Princeton reverb combos ? Or one of the original vintage ones?
Dude, that was some killer tone just straight into the amp. What were your settings? I have this amp and I don’t quite get the break-up like you’ve got without it being ear piercingly loud in my house.
Oh yeah! Tons of clean head room! I have the gain turned up and the master down to get that little toasty breakup. I'll do another video to show how clean it can be too.
have any tips for gain staging with this at low volume lol. In a apartment and bought this cause I had to sell my Silver Sterling last year at the start of the pandemic :/
If it's too loud for the apt, i'd grab a decent attenuator or go full monty and use the OX - that thing is crazy good! I think I am going to buy one in 2021. I had one briefly on loan and was floored. Usually in my home office i can get this amp at a bedroom level that my daughter can be sleeping above me and not notice it. I hope that helps man!
Great pedal and amp selection. I’ve been very close to pulling the trigger on a Two Rock Studio Sig or and SP 50 but part of me is thinking I should wait I and save a little more and get a Bloomfield or a Sterling...basically an amp head in the spirit of a Dumble but mainly because they gave built in gain and I think the Bloomfield even has more than one gain and a Master Vol. But every time time I hear this version of a Two Rock or on Mike Herman’s demo videos ( the SP 50 ) they sound amazing not just clean but once dirt pedal is added or a fuzz it seems to be sound perfect. I’ve always like to add some gain from the amp even if just a little before using pedals to thicken up the tone and there are times I’ll forgot the pedal board and just use one or two pedals ( Jan Ray, Centura, or a variety of fuzz pedals ) and I would always start with amp tone, add amp gain to taste and go from there. Sorry for the long winded comment but it’s a big difference in price from the baseline Two Rock, which, to my ears, is still better than most top of the line amps, and a Two Rock like the Bloomfield. The Structure switch seems to add some grit. I was unaware of that feature for thanks for showing it. Usually they show the front panel but not the back.
@@markhopkinsmusic Thanks Mark. I'll definitely have to sell some gear. I want it so bad! Did you try the combo too? Do you there's much difference between the two? I'm hoping to try one out on my birthday in 2 weeks time. Thanks for your advice and video. I love your playing!

Gustavo Ramos probably the Jan Ray. Although the Mjolnir does a great job of pushing the amp to breakup in a perfect way. It’s just a fun amp to play through in general.
