Um okay. That was the most perfect gear review I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot. Covered all the important sounds for me, single coil, humbucker hollow body, Jerry Tones and John tones. Wow, well done sir! Now where can I scrounge up 2500 hundred bucks 🤔
@@Indiegaze It's true, he said it on an instagram live a couple years ago too, but I also heard this a long time ago. He used multiple amps on that album as he always does. all the playing is in his fingers, there's tons of videos of him playing different amps and he always has great tone regardless of using effects or going straight into amp. The amp was modded and definitely had the highest quality internals. For a reference John Mayer used 4 deluxe reverbs modded - all vintage PTP models for the 2018 Dead and Company Tour. The tone he goes for with the Dead is a very different tone but he is not the kind of player to use one Rig, he's always chasing tone
It's probably true, but for the live "Where the light is" recording of SDIBR, (which is,I think, most people's idea of the Mayer sound) he definitely used his two rock and I believe a dumble and fender bandmaster. There's a notable difference, I think the live tone is many leagues better
Not reissues with fizzy nasty tone though. There is a very big difference. I don't think many people are after the recorded tone as much as his live performance off where the light is
What is so special about John Mayers sound that so many people talk about it and want to chase it. Isnt it pretty standard just Strat through a cleanish Fender style amp and a few pedals?
whats that jazzy stuff you were playing at 11:12 ? is that a song? bc i love the chord choices! also on 14:43 love those chords! id love to learn them! LOVE the 335 also btw! one of my dream gibsons!
Hey Gabriel thanks for the review. I saw users are talking about lack of headroom of this SP35 version. It's the only version I can have in my area... do you think it's enough to gig it for blues or small band venues ? Thanks dude
Did you have the ODS put into a Head? I thought about getting another cabinet for the studio sig. something about 2*12s seem to just push more air and sound bigger & better.
Great playing and awesome tones! I have the studio pro 35 as a head and oversized 1x12 cab and I’m curious what settings you had the amp at? It’s a killer amp and immense with pedals
Hi, did you ever compared your studio Pro 35 (head + cab) with a combo version of the same amp? Or did you compare your SP 35 with a Fender Princeton or Deluxe Reverb? Thanks!
I found a TR studio pro 22 used. It might be the best clean amp I've ever played through, and I've been really impressed by the reverb. It reminds me of a more sophisticated/lower volume version of an original '60's twin reverb that my jazz professor kept in good condition. TR amps must be super-efficient because I can't turn my 22 up past 3-4 without blowing out my ears. How do you keep your volume manageable while recording? So far I've looked into a suhr reactive load ir and ironman ii mini.
i have been doing a lot of back and forth with the two rock video and the HRD video. I notice that the Hot rod seems quiet upfront , meanwhile, the tworock seems quiet in the background...softer..less pokey. Do you think setting in the UAD have a lot to do with it ? Coz i believe you used the deluxe cab for HRD and two rock cab for two rock in the oX box. Would be cool to see a video where the ox box setting is the same. How the two rock cab would affect the sound. :) thanks for making these videos as always man! really helpful to understand these gears and sounds.
a great challenge would be, having best tone in yuor two rock, and then see how much can you push your hot rod to get that same tone through this signal chain.
Thanks for the support as always Snake! Really? It For sure has that super fender type sound. Interesting, it has the TR dna. A nice comprison would be the Studio Pro vs a Trad Clean 40 watt combo!
I could not disagree more with with you say. I have owned a Studio Pro 35 for a number of years, and it is as far as it can possibly get from a Fender; it is far more thicker/deeper and 3D sounding. And a SP35 is a REAL Two rock amp - it is actually voiced like the John Mayer Sig. amp. I have A/B it with a TR Classic Reverb in the past and recently with Traditional Clean (always looking for an excuse to buy a new amp); well ... the Studio Pro 35 is still here with me ... if one does not gig, it's the perfect amp for that Two Rock John Mayer tone - and it actually achieves it better than the Traditional Clean which is, like all new TR amps, voiced on the brighter sound of the spectrum. And that is just like ... well ..., my opinion man ...
Compared to a HRD is much darker sounding, with thicker mids ... it sounds more deep and 3D. To ME, there is no comparison. At the same time, I have heard more than one time people complaining about how dark the SP35 sounds - even using the eq, that inherent darkness is always there. I personally love that, others might not ...

Two rocks are awesome! But for guys/gals chasing that SDIBR tone, let’s not forget JM used a strat and fender deluxe reverb to record that tone.
Indeed!

true, but i think most of us chase the tone, where john mayer is playing slow daning in the two rock and the video is recorded with a potato.
Not reissues with fizzy nasty tone though. There is a very big difference. I don't think many people are after the recorded tone as much as his live performance off where the light is
Incredible job of getting the clean tones to us viewers, The fidelity is Superb and helpful. Nice playing for this style of demo.
that lenny clean tone, was what i wanted to hear!! amaing Gabriel !!!!
Hahaha 🙌🏼🙌🏼
got to play this amp at austin guitar house the other day and literally almost cried with how clear these sound
Amazing! They’re great amps!
Killer playing and demo👍 I have had my Two-Rock Jet 22 for about 10 years. Really love it.
love that juicy slight OD sound! Nice playing btw :)
Thanks so much Ruichen!!

In retrospect yes, but it’s very specific HIFI clean tone

11:12 is the song called "Help On The Way - Grateful Dead" One of my favorite GFD song ever XD
I love the Fender tone. The Two Rock I've never played.
Sounds like a great compromise between a smaller fender amp and a 50-watt D-style!
By the way, you’re nailing those Continuum tunes and tones! 👏
Thanks for watching Henri!! Yes, the perfect in-between amp!
What song is that starting at 11:12? Great video as always!
Help on the way by Grateful Dead
I see it was going through a different cabinet, which is it ? No UAD ox here ?
Yess, ox two rock 2x12!
@@GabrielBergman95 would love to see a video with your settings on it!
I recently had a chance to pick the Studio Pro 35 (Head) for 2000 EUR but didn't. Really wish that I did now :(
Oh man!!!
Why?? Can you explain?? I am tempted to go for the same thing, although I have a very nice Princeton with an alnico 10 speaker

Hey Keith, thanks for watching! Yes, I did! Yeah 2x12 is the way to go, also 1x12 cab. Depends the environment!

are they “Classic 57” on that 335?

Hey Gabriel, do you prefer your current Deluxe Reverb or this Two Rock?
Both very different, but I’d say the deluxe reverb
which pedal were you using for the waiting on the world to change solo?
Ts10! Thanks for watching Jason!
Nice demo and great paying
Glad you liked it!
Sorry if I missed this, but what speaker is in this one? Thanks!
Great tone :-)
Amazing video Gabriel! Which settings are you running on the amp? I have the Deep switch pulled on mine but sometimes it feels unusably dark
The settings are in the thumbnail! No eq boosts!
You don’t need that much low end in my opinion
Must have..
Sounds good. But sounds more like a really good fender, and not a "real" Two-Rock. I'd save up and get a traditional clean new at 4 grand.
