    Good Lord. This guy just oozes tone and taste. I’ve made a living in the past being a first call side man for multiple regional bands so, while I don’t consider myself an incredible player, I do know my way around the instrument and gear. I could practice forever and still not have this much soul in my tone. Joey is just on a level that even the greatest players on Earth struggle to reach. Killer stuff 🤯

      I luv slide but i never did not like being limited in open tuning to a chord , i tune standard and like the added ability to use other tones standard tuning offers and we all learned a lot of stuff so its more encompassing and improvising friendly !

    sweet & killer tone, except for two items of mention, firstly, Joey is sitting in front of almost $10,000 in amplification, and secondly, this Cat would sound this good if he was runnin' thru a peavey bandit. (it's jokes, guys) Not trying to wind anybody up,,,,, In any case, my modest collection of hand built, hand wired tube amps (6L6s, 6V6s, EL84s, 6971s)(RedPlate, Conrad, Wang, Carvin, Deluxe etc) isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Oh, and for daily practice & play, it's tube like Katana Artist.

    • @forester057
      @forester057 5 років тому +6

      Clifton Torrence He wouldn’t sound as good through a crappy amp. That’s for darn sure! Gear definitely helps give that extra 10%. I would argue that a player wouldn’t play as well without good sounds. Continuum wouldn’t have been as good without the two rock/dumble sound. Just perfect. Tone is not all in the fingers contrary to bad internet quotes. If it was, everyone would be playing through a peavy bandit and save the money. Gear matters. A lot.

      @jorqued7675 5 років тому +2

      Tone is definitely in the fingers, if you can play you sound good, that's why not everybody plays a peavey bandit, but a peavey bandit, if it's still like the solid state one I had in the 80's is the wrong example, should be at least a basic tube amp. The difference is more the feel of certain amps, some inspire you more or less but to the listener the tone will be irrelevant, this guy can play and if he plays this amp or a blues junior or a DrZ or any other basic tube amp does not matter. @@forester057

    when I first saw Brent Mason he had two peavy bandits and a 300$ modded tele painted with car primer.I hear he still sounds pretty good.The jazz great Ray Brown once heard some stupid critics praising his instrument and then set it downandsaid hows it sound now? Well untill the most expensive brands make something more affordableoptions ther is used gear for those of us who work so hard to play with great skill instead of big money there is used gear and reissues. some guy in texas does ok with a fender and a marshall. i asked some jazz guitarist what about his new amp he walked over to it lifted it up then said sounds good.

  • @bits-bytes
    @bits-bytes 4 роки тому +1

    Sorry, I hope my review doesn't sound too harsh. Please take it as constructive criticism. Very nice and skilful guitar playing, but from a product presentation / demo I would actually expect the focus to be on the possibilities of the amp and how the setting options affect the sound. Playing a slide guitar for minutes on end will probably not fully represent the range of applications of this amp. I would have preferred shorter phrases from the Clean/Crunch/Lead section that were more to the point.

      Canaan Lawrence - they are “off label” ThroBak KZ-90’s, wound on a Geo Stevens winder, which was in service throughout the early 50’s at Gibson. I worked with ThroBak for something unique and special for this build.
