39 years ago Metallica released Fade to Black, which many, many people have credited with giving them inspiration to keep on living because it let them know that they weren't alone in feeling suicidal. I feel like this song is going to be received similarly. Not only is it a badass song musically, the subject is really going to resonate with a lot of people today.

ANTHRAX put out way better music these days and have been around just as long, For All Kings pisses all over anything Metallica have put out in the last 20 years!!!
Yeah that's the thing that really gets me upset about some "fans". Seems like they only want MOP redone dozens of times. Metallica evolves. Metallica changes. If you want the same thing over and over again, you can always listen to Megadeth.
They've been performing for us fans for 30+ yrs. And exactly Megadeth is just that they're a snoozefest and make me want a Megadeth haha pun intended. Metallica is and always will be my favorite band. I enjoy all there albums including St Anger. Metallica has been around for awhile I'm sure if James could put a scream together like he used too he would but throat can only take so much. They still sound great.
@@richardfisher21081 Look I love me the classic thrash. But Metallica has moved on. Number one they are older. If you are in your 60's you try rapid full downstrokes all the time. @@EvilMerlin St. Anger was abysmal and Death Magnetic wasn't really very good imo. Not listened to much since, heard Lux Aeterna by chance and now found this. Must say I'm liking the new sound. But personally, I love Load/Reload and these tracks have an element of funkiness to them that's reminiscent. Kinda like a mix between black album and L/R.
To be honest, Metallica's music saved my life 3 times and after the third time I said no more. I’ve been a Metallica Fan since their beginning in 1981 (Yes I’m old 59 lol). I don’t know how the hell I got this old but I can say Metallica is still kicking ass and I’m loving every minute of it. ❤
One of the great things about Metallica is they bring elements from previous albums into each new album. You can hear the evolution of their sound in each new album. It’s pretty cool and I’m looking forward to hearing this new album. The guitar tones so far are pretty tight.
Hell yeah man, they're bringing back their trashy roots. I hear hints of Kill em All in Lux Aeterna. Specifically motor breath when he says full speed or nothing!
Now that you mention it, there's a recent song of theirs that has a riff from To Live is to Die in it. For the life of me, I can't remember which newer song it's in. I think it's on Death Magnetic? IDK, I just remember hearing it in that song and going "That's To Live is to Die!" It's cool that they do those little easter eggs, because they have to know that only hardcore fans will pick up on what they did.
I'm 44 and grew up listening to all kinds of bands and I have to say Metal today is making a huge comeback and its definitely bringing the golden era roots with it..
I don't think we should be looking for a Metallica album that punched as hard as Master of Puppets. But see them for what they're doing now. This song by musical standards is phenomenal and puts a lot of the music we have coming out today to shame. I'd also like to clarify that there are plenty of modern bands out there that have blown my mind. Bad Omens, Nothing More, Sleep Token, Palaye Royal, Make them suffer, etc. But as far as a lot of mainstream music goes this is just a force of nature in comparison.
I think the way forward to to not compare with previous albums (which is hard to do) and just enjoy the music for what it is. I am finding the newer songs don't grab me as much on the first listen however, they do grow on me very quickly. I can imagine this one on high volume driving down the road would be a good listen.
I’m surprised so many people dislike the song. It’s like Atlas and Moth had a kid. Grooving, catchy and pounding. It’s a great song in my opinion but to each their own.
Tbh none of the two songs is extremely good. So they copy two mediocre songs which gives them another mediocre song. The difference is that at least the previous two where original.

Your “tractor on a dirt road” comment was funny lol. But yea, I absolutely agree with everything you said. I’m one of the most genuinely authentic Metallica fans you’ll ever know. When my wife woke me up in the middle of the night saying, “BABE! Watch this.”… It was the new video Lux Aeterna. We’ve been waiting for a new album for years!! Hardwired is one of my absolute favorites. That album got me through so much… I read that this new album, M72 was gonna sound a lot like Hardwired and Magnetic, which these two new songs absolutely do. I like how Lux has a Hit The Lights vibe and Suicide has a more Judas Kiss-Cyanide-Suicide & Redemption vibe. Metallica sounding like Metallica, just a little bit reinventing. We still have 10 more tracks coming!! Plus the World Tour. I need my #3 show this year! Hey, buddy. Good job with this video.
I like James' vocals on this one. His voice has changed with age and doesn't do so well with the higher pitched screaming of their older stuff. It's better suited to lower, growling, snarling singing like this and Load/Reload. And it sounds badass.
What you said about feeling like "a farmer fertilizing crops..." That feel comes from that bluesey style they've got going on. They did the same thing with their album "ReLoad," namely the track "Fuel." I think you might give Fuel a listen if you like that roots rock feel.
Metallica literally never gets old. They are... timeless. By the way, you'll probably never see this, but in the off chance you do: if you want to be *SHOCKED* by Muse again, their recent song "Kill or Be Killed" gave me goosebumps just like "Won't Stand Down" did - it is a banger, truly eclectic, and honestly a hell of a musical journey. Love the vids man, glad you're still at it.
Hey man! Been watching your content for quite some time now and i love your reactions, both to music and movies. I started watching you cause you started rreacting to Sabaton (One of my favorit band) and been here since. A day or 2 ago i saw a new song wich i think would do for a great reaction video, the song is "Hi Ren - Ren". Much love from The ingdom of Sweden!
My taint has been tingling all day I love this song, much more than Lux Aeterna, I love the lyrics as well and I think it will reach people, very excited for April 🤘🏻
Love the Metallica content. With "May"tallica approaching I would love to see you feature their 1999 Concert/ Album S&M. They performed with the San Francisco Symphony and it's so heavy. Very cool arrangements of their songs and some new ones. Let us see it!
They definitely listened a lot of Motorhead lately. They did back in the day in Load/Reload days. I can hear some influence from those as well as those “running” drum patrerns that sound Motorheadish
To me it feels like they're getting back to their inspirations, like the new album is going to be an original Garage Inc. All in all I think your sand analogy is perfect, enjoy it for what it is without overthinking it!
I think we just have to appreciate that they’re still around after all of these making quality music. They’re not just releasing crap because of their name they made so many years ago.
I've said it on another video but this album cannot get here fast enough! Noticed something though, are they giving us callbacks? Suicide sounds like Attitude Lux had the double bass like One Darkness sounded like blackened
It's not their best, but it's got a similar vibe to less popular songs on old albums, so it's not "new, mainstream, mediocre". It sounds a bit like their intermissions to be honest! On a positive, this video has made me go back and see your old Metallica vids again
Amazingly important message❤ I’ve enjoyed listening to your reactions for about two years now and I’ve never commented on one before but I just listened to a song that you would Love and would love to hear what you think about it. It’s a longer song around nine minutes that relates to mental health.. This is a truly awesome song bordering on art/performance art…the mans name is Ren and the UA-cam video is called “Hi Ren” the video has something like 3.4 million views and it was just posted about a month ago.
...'Cause they aren't a moronic millennial like you probably are. With you apparent completely non-minding of the "millennial shit" sound they've included here. Not to mention completely mediocre and boring.
As a 49 year old metal head. Watching Metallica evolve from garage days/no life till leather. To now has bin a great ride! I agree with alot of the other comments about hearing alot of the other albums in the last 2 songs. The first single gave me kill em all vibes. This has the lyric punch that master of puppets has. The song. Dealing with subjects straight on. I wonder if every song will be similar to an album.
I like the rock feel of it. It's got a groove to it. This could've been on a third album Reloaded. It sounds like it fits there than anywhere near the last two albums. That's a good thing imho.
Hey Alex, I think a lot of people put their individual expectations on Metallica. At the end of the day, these dudes have been one of the most consistent bands in the heavy metal/ hard rock genre(Depending on your definitions). In fact, they've been at this so long that people/fans feel entitled to point an accusatory finger in their direction, "You guys went mainstream" or "you suck now that you're older" what about "you went soft". I think that we, as fans, try to point out what we see as failings; when, in fact, it's just that the thing we like is growing and maturing, finding what it's supposed to be now, as opposed to what it used to be. Or...I could've really over-analyzed this whole thing. Anyways, I'm still a big Metallica fan and glad whenever they drop new music. Thanks again, for all that you do. Please react to some more Iron Maiden and Deep Purple. Thanks.
Please do more Wage War- Manic and Teeth it's amazing- well anything on the Manic album is incredible. Great videos. I started watching because I love Bad Omens and wanted to watch your reaction videos. I'm hooked on all your videos!!!!!

Metallia has saved my life cuz after losing all my family except for my sister I felt completely alone then yeah my sister tells me to listen to metallia and I did and I love it❤❤
Lemmy used to say "don't drink water.. fish f**k in it!" 🤣 Great video.. I love your analogy of gripping sand.. I guess life's like that in a way.. don't try and gave such a strong grip on life.. just let it flow! 😁😎🤘🤘
I love this part ( 4:02 ) "I mean, do they have the same "mmmpfff" as they did decades ago? I mean (thinking for a millisecond and tempted to say yes) ... mmnouu
a lot of people are not happy with metallica's new sound. i can see why but cmon bro, they're 60 years old. they can't play as they used to. they matured as a band too and it's okay if they play slower stuff. you can't expect the band to sound the same forever (except motorhead) so i think it's okay that they changed it up a bit. great song i'm hyped for the album
If you wanted a recommendation, and since you love Bad Omens so much I think you should check out Glass Houses. It’s the same album as The Worst in Me, and it’s such a fantastic song
LOL! Alex, I think the crops would look a little haphazard if I was listening to this song! Though, I am loving, loving it! I wish this is what was mainstream like it used to be.
I’m loving these two songs so far. This one definitely has some powerful lyrics. I’m disappointed in Kirk’s solos tho. That’s my only gripe I guess. But these lyrics are really going to hit a lot of people hard. And it’s needed. James is going through some shit and you see it so far in the lyrics. I can’t wait for this album. Damn sure could be their best one in a while. Hardwired was bad ass tho… so hard to top.
I just wanna hear one more album from them that rides with that dark sinister sound they had in the late 80s and early 90s. Just one more. Go back to that deep hardcore Metallica sound
Motorhead is a good mention... both of the songs have me feeling "It's not thrash, but it's a really heavy hard rock with blues and some rockabilly?". Either way, this is the first album I'm looking forward to by them in years.

Let's go! Bring on the new album! I grew up listening to Megadeth and Metallica and I am still stoked with each new album release!
I love your metallica reactions, never stop please jajajaj from 🇨🇱
My taint has been tingling all day
I love this song, much more than Lux Aeterna, I love the lyrics as well and I think it will reach people, very excited for April 🤘🏻
I've really liked both new songs can't wait for new album
They keep trucking and not relying on their classics. Love they keep their true passion
Bro, love love love your channel. You are in my top 3 of first subscriptions. But, those glasses make you look like David Koresh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
YES YES YES YES Papa Het's Voice is back, he sounds so good on this track, you are so right on the Lemmy feeling
Motorallica !! Great stuff
Have you done a reaction video for "The Unnamed Feeling"?
If not, please do so.
That song got me through some very rough times.
Rock on
I think we just have to appreciate that they’re still around after all of these making quality music. They’re not just releasing crap because of their name they made so many years ago.
The way you describe
gripping sand is one of the most profound things I’ve ever heard about trying to over analyze any kind of music‼️💯🔥
You make me excited about this again. .this is back to the "kill 'em all"!.
You said it duuudaah
I've said it on another video but this album cannot get here fast enough!
Noticed something though, are they giving us callbacks?
Suicide sounds like Attitude
Lux had the double bass like One
Darkness sounded like blackened
Lovin new Metallica, don't give 2 shits what anyone else thinks.
🤘❤️🇨🇦
100%
I don't know why a lot of people don't like this song the lyrics are amazing can't wait to hear more of the album
This is an attempt to be relative, I'm sorry not sorry this hmm song is relative to what is considered to be music now. Big thumbs down!
@@suzanneberbick8695 it’s ok to be wrong
...'Cause they aren't a moronic millennial like you probably are.
I wonder if every song will be similar to an album.
you really should do more Meshuggah reactions! I highly reccommend the albums Nothing (Re-release), Koloss and Immutable
Has that Through The Never vibe a little bit... plus, the small "Listen Well" part, fucking Volbeat sounding! 🤘🏻
I like the rock feel of it. It's got a groove to it. This could've been on a third album Reloaded. It sounds like it fits there than anywhere near the last two albums. That's a good thing imho.
This kicks ass, i can't wait for the album. I already pre ordered it 🤘
Hey Alex, I think a lot of people put their individual expectations on Metallica.
You are the best! You always make my day.. thank you for being you and sharing that with us
Got my hubby Metallica tix for Christmas, can't wait till August.
I would like to recommend the band Set The Sun to you. They released an EP last year (In Absentia) and a remix EP. The debut album is coming this year. I try to support them as much as I can 🤘🏻❤️
Everyone is playing great together. Better bass line than some
A song with a message. I listened to it four times. One of this songs that is getting better.
Metallia has saved my life cuz after losing all my family except for my sister I felt completely alone then yeah my sister tells me to listen to metallia and I did and I love it❤❤
Bro I just found out you haven’t reacted to dire straights you have got to listen to them man one of the greatest guitarists ever!
The basic riff indeed gives off 80s vibes - I somehow got reminded of Saxon initially - with way better production standards ^^
You should definitely check out some Hanabie. They have a lot of great songs but id suggest 'We Love Sweets' or 'Pardon me, I have to go now'
A very creative tune from Papa Het and co with a very personal message from James . And his voice is supurb here.
Lemmy used to say "don't drink water.. fish f**k in it!" 🤣
Great video.. I love your analogy of gripping sand.. I guess life's like that in a way.. don't try and gave such a strong grip on life.. just let it flow! 😁😎🤘🤘
Man, You NEED to react to Ren - Hi Ren. Absolutely mind blowing piece of art and an incredible one take performance.
I'm shaking my tail feather to this
You gotta do the new Ice Nine Kills, the uncensored version!!!
I'm all here for new Metallica, I've been a die hard fan of them for 20 years now and they've still got that unique sound!
Nice video, thanks for bringing new Metallica, high fives from me to you my friend!
In a way this reminds me, sound wise of like a hybrid of Garage days and Load/ Reload.
I love this part ( 4:02 ) "I mean, do they have the same "mmmpfff" as they did decades ago? I mean (thinking for a millisecond and tempted to say yes) ... mmnouu
I love this song, and I love Metallica, can't wait for the whole album
Same I’ve got it pre ordered already
a lot of people are not happy with metallica's new sound. i can see why but cmon bro, they're 60 years old. they can't play as they used to. they matured as a band too and it's okay if they play slower stuff. you can't expect the band to sound the same forever (except motorhead) so i think it's okay that they changed it up a bit. great song i'm hyped for the album
i definitely think this album is gonna be badass this song was way better than what i expected it definitely rocked me
Looking good man love Spidey 🤘
If you wanted a recommendation, and since you love Bad Omens so much I think you should check out Glass Houses. It’s the same album as The Worst in Me, and it’s such a fantastic song
Hey have u done like a stone yet it one of my faves and if u havent id love ro see your reaction any chance you could let me knw
Pushing themselves again to soaring heights and measures... keeping the metal edge sharp.
LOL! Alex, I think the crops would look a little haphazard if I was listening to this song! Though, I am loving, loving it! I wish this is what was mainstream like it used to be.
That beginning guitar is godlike
I love your videos my guy.
I've had my 72 Seasons CD (yes, you read it correctly..CD) pre-ordered since the day Lux Aeterna came out....
Motorhead and a bit of Tom Waits the music has a bit of Merciful Fate
Congratulations boys ! 🤘👊👏
This is exactly how Ride The Lightning sounds in 2023
Hell if it does, out to lunch
The beginning of the song sounds like something you would hear in a cartoon opening. Love it! 🤘😆
I agree Alex! Good video
More than 1 more, they will make music till there dead which is hopefully a long time
It’s funny to see multiple reactions of UA-camrs trying to bang out to this amazingly boring track. They are really trying hard.
Motorhead is a good mention... both of the songs have me feeling "It's not thrash, but it's a really heavy hard rock with blues and some rockabilly?". Either way, this is the first album I'm looking forward to by them in years.
