In this video, we're investigating why Metallica's new song looks EXACTLY like Stranger Things. From the vibe to the song's overall production, we're starting to think that the band may have had a little help from the Netflix series in developing their new song.
So what do you think? Does Metallica's new song look like Stranger Things? Or is there another explanation for the similarities? Let us know in the comments below!
A friendly reminder that James, that dude with a great voice, is turning 60 next year.
Sad but true
James sings in key, with great tone, power and breath control. He doesn’t have the greatest singing voice as most would define it but he knows his limitations and maximizes his talent there. He’s a great vocalist, though, in his own right. They started cleaning up his voice in post-production more and more as he ages but that’s totally understandable.
Kirk Hammett, going HAM on the guitar, just turned 60!
STAHP
The year after
Sound-wise it's more like their last album, but the overall style is more of a kill em all vibe
You mean production is like their last album but the actual rhythms and feeling is kill Em all
I thought I was crazy. My first listen I was like, this wouldn't sound out of place on kill em all.
To me it has the same kinda sound as Garage Inc....go back and listen to the Motorhead covers they did and the Mercyful Fate medley.
Its kind of like a Garabage Inc but with original songs. It's inspired
@@mightybmx2900 no it doesn't feel like killing them all, I spend 1h comparing this song with hit the light and is not even the same tempo, it sounds like Stone Cold Crazy in the solo part, the same tempo, same guitar sound, same double bass.
To answer the question: Stranger Things made Eddie look like a Rock God... James is. So it looks similar.
Well spoken!
Or its because Metallica is milking it with Stranger things still
@@watchlistenlearn Except they're not tho? That legit makes zero sense LMAO.
@@watchlistenlearn weird . it looks just like the opening of Quebec Magnetic which Metallica filmed a decade ago. So again...just art imitating well... art.
@@watchlistenlearn now that's funny. So you think Metallica needs a little show like Stranger Things to get them noticed? News flash, these guys could be 100 years old, put out a song and their fans will come out of the woodwork. What you stated made no sense at all.
The fact that they still can put out a jam like this is truly bad ass and Lars still killing the double bass 🤘🏼
That doublebass is so basic honestly terrible after all these yrs Lars is so overrated want to hear a good drummer listen to Justin Fowley from kse
Barely, I think it might be a drum machine.
@@Bob-Pye Shittiest take from someone who clearly hates Metallica... It couldn't have been better...
@@travisfoster1071just saw 3 live videos of him doing it so, no drum machine! 👍
people do anything to hate on lars💀
That break in the middle is very reminiscent of their old track 'Hit the lights'... just saying :)
Metallica likes light related music
Motorbreath... "Don't stop for nothing its full speed or nothing"... jus sayin
sorry, now i ended the video and it already was there 🤣
I heard it's a sequel to Hit the Lights.
Love this new metallica song!
It sounds like Kill 'Em All but with pristine production, and they added pop/punk to metal instead of just punk. Every time he sings Lux Aeterna I instantly follow it in my mind with It's Electric
Yes, It's Electric, that's the one! Couldn't remember the name of the song, but is has that vibe
THANK YOU that’s what I was thinking of when I first heard it. I couldn’t remember the name but knew it was reminiscent of Garage Inc
Exactly, it's more Lightning to the Nations than Kill 'Em All imo
Boogie woogie woogie
They drop it out of no where which makes it even better 🤘🏻
New Album next year and a Stunningly expensive 10 arena tour in 2024. If you buy tickets early you have to buy both shows with different set lists. My guess is $1,000 per seat per night. Once enthusiam wanes for that they will sell single show tickets. I will live with the memories of seeing them at First Avenue, Iowa Jam, Met Center and Alpine Valley.
Imma be honest for a second, until I've heard it, a new Metallica song is ALWAYS gonna bring a smile to my face. Even the first time I heard St. Anger I had a smile on my face, granted that faded as soon as I knew what I was listening to. Bottom line: new Metallica is always good.
I've had it on repeat since yesterday. I can't wait for the album and tour+
I've got too catch this tour!! No doubt about it!! 🤟
@@djentyman4002 Same here dude.
Too all of us parents that raised our kids on Metallica.... Yesss they're BACK!! ⚡️👏 🤟⚡️
They never left
Starset: waiting for the sky to change . Check that out
YESSS PLEASE!!! Song is soooo good 😤
0:07 Alex: Metallica
*shows a picture of megadeth😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Metallica and Metallica gonna have a field day with that one 😳
He did that on purpose
I know right
Not the next master of puppets but a solid and fun track, and weirdly happy too, it makes me happy for them :,)
CANNOT FREAKING WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM!!!
I find it amusing that alot of metalheads when we 1st heard Lux Aeterna is the 1st thing we noticed are the drums are well played 🤘
I love your channel! Have not commented before, but I had to share this with you: Metallica has always affected me in a very profound way. Yesterday I buried my father and spent the day "honoring" him. That evening I return home to learn of the announcement of the release of "Lux Aeterna". Obviously I cue it up, and love it. I then research "Lux Aeterna", and learn it means to "honor the dead". Again, more Metallica works that are filed deep in my soul, and will deliver intense emotion to me forever. Metallica gives me life!
Hate to burst your bubble, but it’s Latin for eternal light.
@@sturost3769 That is true, but the reference in poetry is used to honor the dead.
Motorbreath is such a great tune. It’s like their autobiography, especially back in those days.
I fucking love it. Right from the get-go I yelled out “YEEEESSSS!!” I cannot wait for the rest.
Haha your comment made me laugh. Yes, same reaction 🤘
This sounds like it's straight out of their Garage Days era.... like if Metallica wrote this with Mötörhead.
St.anger is a good album lyrically
Yeah, I agree and there are a few songs that I like from it.
@michaeldeatherage4753
Not really, since everyone else co-wrote them and everyone but James sucks at writing lyrics.
@@MrParkerman6 uhhh
james writes all lyrics for all songs except for on st anger
All Within My Hands acoustic is top notch
Nice refreshing original vibe! Reminds me of old school Metallica!
It's absolutely sensational song
First couple of listens I was unsure. But got to say it's growing on me. Looking forward to the new album
I had this song on repeat all day yesterday
same here even today
I freaking love this song....can't wait until their Los Angeles show.
This song is so good!!! I’m so excited for the new album
Was waiting for this one ! Love it such Kill Em All and Motorhead vibes !!!!!
You must be psyched, Alex - this will be your first time getting a new album along with the rest of us, maybe even get to see them live (if you haven’t already).
I think you’re on the money with the references to the Kill ‘Em All era - there’s a line in the second verse along the lines of “Lightning the nations”, which I would say is a nod to the Diamond Head album “Lightning to the Nations”, which was a major influence to the band, especially Lars
He took a summer trip to England to see them play in London, managed to talk his way backstage and even ended up couch surfing with one of the band, and that was what inspired him to call James and start jamming
Yo Hefner, that intro is wild 🤣🤣
Good catch with the “full speed or nothing” line, didn’t even think of it coming from a Kill Em All song until you pointed it out
I agree totally, and I love this song and can't fucking wait till the new album drops.
I literally just a chance to listen to this song on my own before starting to check out my favorite reactors hearing a brand new Metallica song. You are of course my first one to check out. My number one always and you got me addicted to reaction channels dude! I’m so pumped for a new album from them. I can’t wait until spring!!!
Alex have you booked your tour tickets yet? You can’t miss out on this! Maybe you could vlog it? I’m all booked up and can’t f**ing wait!!! 🤪
@Alex They have a crazy tour coming up where they will play two nights in each town with a different set list each night and different opening bands. One of them is the Patera reunion/homage with Zakk Wylde and Charlie from Anthrax. Early ticket sales start tomorrow so if you have any influence with someone you should get tickets. You should really see this band live.
Great to see Metallica back love that they when more straight thrash It's fucking kick ass can't wait for the the album to drop next year!!
I'm 49, and the music sounds like Kill Em All, with James' new singing style he's had since Bob Rock and the Black album. It's really a well-blended mesh of the two.
I was waiting for your vid to pop up 😂😂
I hear Kill Em All vibe, especially just before the and after the guitar solo is very similar to Hit the Lights. I'm sure a couple more songs will be released before the April 14, 2023 album release date.
Your picture was megadeth not Metallica
He does that on purpose now
I know. I put the wrong picture in for a bad omens song a couple weeks ago and now I do it every reaction. It’s fun.
I bought tickets today, for the show in "Dallas" (Arlington), for my girlfriend (never seen them), her son (never been to a concert), and me! Can't wait to see them for the 3rd and 4th times in August!
If you haven't already, gotta check out Devil's Dance, The Fixxxer, The House that Jack Built, Bleeding Me, and Outlaw Torn from their Load and Reload albums. HIGHLY underrated Albums and songs.
I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO MENTION THIS
Attempt #6 of asking Alex to do a full album reaction to 'Nightmare', released in 2010.
First. But i also want too recommend some more bad omens; never know is an amazing song. One of my favorites. It would be an awesome reaction. Also there is an acoustic with some amazing vocals
This is what happy/thrashy/new production sounds like with the Kill 'Em All vibe playing that riff in A-standard. Sex Æterna.
Love seeing "Alex Hefner" and "Metallica" in the same sentence again. Good to see you, chief! Hope you've been well 🤘🏽
"Put this thrash in your asshole"?? 🤣🤣
Dammit Alex, I didn’t need those images!😂
It’s soooo good and catchy!!!!! Very amazing job Metallica looking forward so the next album you guys rock!!! 🤘🏻🔥
I've heard this song in a radio a few minutes ago, thank god for this
Metallica is going out on tour and I got tickets! At 55 I’m going to see them for the first time. These are 2-night shows with a different set list each night and different opening acts. I don’t know if the opening acts change in different cities but in NJ it’s Pantera and Five Finger Death Punch.
I would love to see a reaction to the lyrics. A great ode to the live experience that you didn't even seem to notice. It's a lot to take in, the first time and you had to react.. Not your fault.
At 4.16 where it fades out and the drum riff comes back in is a DEFINITE nod to Overkill by Motörhead.. change my mind 😁😎🤘🤘
Keep rockin' fellas!
Finally found your reaction!!!
i had the exact same thought too !!!
There are parts of this song that make me think it is a homage to Motorhead, which makes the song even better!
Exactly! The double bass kicks are just as in Motörhead’s “Overkill”.
@@MrFullmoon77 I know, there are also parts where I can almost hear a Lemmy bass line.
Why did you show a pic of Megadeath right at the beginning???
Was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this new song. Was worried when I first seen they had new stuff hoping I would like it and I did. Very cool reaction to it I quite enjoyed it and yes it paralleled Stranger Things because they made Eddie rock out just like Metallica always has. Take care and be safe Alex!
The new amity affliction song that dropped is a banger would love to see a reaction!
Hi Alex, check out : Feeder- just a day. This song was used on Gran Tourism 3. It's a dangerous song when driving a real car, so easy to put your foot down and kiss the corners line GT3. Lol
Alex, did you even listen to St Anger?
Not saying it’s good, just wondering.
btw Alex Metallica's new album 72 seasons comes out 4-14-23 and it will have a total of 12 tracks on the album just a bit of a little friendly reminder to you cool/awesome dude!!!!
I also think it is an homage to to Blackened on ...and Justice. The verse has all the words ending in "tion" just like in Blackened.
My first thought when I heard that pre-chorus instantly was "that is Motorbreath!!!"
Was the image of Megadeth in the intro intentional?
This reminds me of some of the sounds they had on the Garage, Inc. album.
miss your videos. Just not into heavy metal. its cool though. keep doing your thing! hope to see more JBP videos soon.
Who did they get to play the drums?
I completely agree on the "riding in to battle field" feeling. Check out Arcturus - Arcturian Sign. Omfg Bane! Anything from Arcturus! It's ICS Vortex (Bass player from Dimmu Borgir) Such an amazing band!
Thank you again for broadening my horizons, good sir.
Bro did you not listen to Blackened 2020 Alex? It’s a single they released in 2020 and I highly recommend you react to that next plz!
I am 57 years old and was one of the first metallica fans in my school in 1983 with killl'm all.....i stopped with master of puppets......but this is the return to the 1986 and older sound!
Magic
1:21 I nearly choked on my burger 😂😂😂😂
I honestly think it was an homage to Stranger Things, not just by the way James was shreddin’, but also because of the lyrics. Let this breakdown of the lyrics speak for itself:
“Lux Æterna lyrics mention the nation and the need to lightning. We understand now that we live in a world of darkness, and we need to be compact, and act as a unified mass, to bring light into our existence. If we all move together, aware that we all want the same thing, we can shed an eternal light in our future and defeat the void through our energy and commitment.”
Sounds a lot like Hawkins and the Upside Down don’t it?
I’m very late to this comment but every video I click I see a comment of yours😂 my god
Never change Alex 😂
Why did you show a picture of Megadeth at the beginning???
It looks like Stranger Things because Eddie was mimicing James, a Metal God.
The hammer on the cover of Kill Em All is also one of the objects on the cover of 72 Seasons.
Little clue.
I love this song Metallica still kicks ass can't wait till April 14th Atfer a 6 year wait I'm ready
Awesome
@@TelegrmmeOfficial_AlexHefnertv great
Broski, I'm still waiting for a reaction to the band Currents. They've dropped some 🔥 new singles!
Hey man, it is always a pleasure watching your dope ass reaction videos! When I am having a sh*t day, I always come here and watch your videos! And after awhile I feel so much better! I want to thank you for that. You keep on, keepin' on having the best dope ass day(s) ever!
Cheers!
Before I forget, I'd like to suggest you check out Diamond Head, a band that influenced Metallica back in the day. Listen to Diamond Head's 1982 debut album, Borrowed Time.
You will know why they were one of Metallica's greatest influences!
I definitely think that the stranger things nods in the look and even James doing "the move" was completely on purpose and intentional. I mean that would be the best thing to do.
Kill Em All with Hardwired To Self-Destruct production
IT WAS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!! 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
James has always done that pose
Finally they picked up the pace again, hope really the new album really is full speed or nothing..
And i think the drums are edited, because lars ulrich would never played it this perfect and on sync lol
I have an old song for you to review. April Wine Roller. Seriously skilled and underappreciated Canadian band from a few decades ago.
Ok so we get some inception / mendela/ butterfly effect here having Eddy shreading the song in ST but in date the song wasn
This has a Garbage Inc feel to it with original songs, i think this album will be better than the last one. This song actually grows on you
Garage inc
somethng tells me this riffs is from and justice for all i dont know but its kinda mix of kill em all , hardwired, and justice
Wow, I didn't even realise that this line was in Motorbreath 😵
Well spotted!
The older i got, the more i liked load and reload. Love this new shit. Kinda like the old days!!!
Why, why, why, Alex, are you showing a Megadeth photo for a Metallica vid? Wry commentary on Dave Mustaine's departure from the original lineup? I'm having a mental breakdown trying to make sense of it! Love the reaction - can't wait for more new Metallica! 🙂❤🤘
Still fing rocking!!!
Ive never Lol'd at a reaction video as much as this one hahah. From Penetrating to the horsey ride hHaha
I fucking love this song. Got my tickets for Dallas next year for both shows
That last yeah from the chorus sounds a lot like kill em all
Why did you put up a picture of Megadeth when you said Metallica dropped a new song? Just curious...BTW...Kirks solo...Short but 🔥🔥🔥
I knew this reaction was coming the min I heard the song 🫶🏻
