Fear Factory is one of the most influential bands in the metal/rock genre. Absolutely underrated. Almost every single one of your favorite artists references this group.
A quite a umber of metal bands didn't have solo's in 90's It was a thing that came from Grunge music, which was an anti 80's metal movement. Not by design, people didn't like wankers playing useless arpeggios all the time. Solos have come back since though, because the new set of fans wanted to do more but still retain much of that sound that was formed in the 90's. I tend to like songs with not much of a solo in them. A songwriter seems to be more creative. Instead of having a basic chord progression that builds to a solo, the whole song is a pile of riffs that keep it interesting.
I'd rather have a strong rhythm something with strong lyrics that has meaning long drawn out solo's just don't move me but don't get me wrong I like the solo's also in bands like slayer and many more period I love music just like many of y'all opinions are free just be glad for the metal
Ikr? I mean I reaaaally love guitar solos (or any kind of solos for that matter), but something I like about bands like Disturbed, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and even some Slipknot, is that they do good metal songs without the need of solos, and from time to time, they surprise you with a solo that may not be the most flashy, but that fits the song perfectly...on the other side of it there are bands that really give solos the prominence that they had back in the 80s, but they merge it with their own style like Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, etc...and I really love them for doing that too.

We will never see the end
We will never be the ned
All of my life I felt discarded
Never feeling a part of it
No you can't
Without me you will fade, you will not remain
We are one and though the same future machine
A linchpin holds within a mean to an end
Can't you see that we are one?
Can't take me apart
No you can't
We see no end to the dream
We will never see the end
We will…
