LYRICS
Consumed with memories
That preceded today
Given a chance to bereave
Life is slipping away
Suffered through tragedy
Of my slow decay
Deceptive tendencies
Dragged my soul away
All that I know
There was no God for me
Force that shatters all
Absence of mortality
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again
Again, again, again, again
Forsaken by destiny
Forsaken by my own mind
I must remove my skin
To see belief in your eyes
All that I know
There was no God for me
Force that shatters all
Absence of humanity
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again
Again, again, again
Reach for the sky
Touch the sky
Revive a hope
For mankind
There's not a massive number of metal tracks that express so much emotion that it genuinely moves you, but this is one of them. This might genuinely be the most beautiful metal track I ever listened to. I loved it when it came out and I love it to this day.
I was just thinking the same thing as I listened, before reading this 100% accurate comment.
Couldn't agree more. Love this track 👍
Same. Nothig can touch what this band's "ballads" have done. Even Genexus and the whole Blade Runner theme is just.. devastatingly emotional.
Meshuggah's Straws Pulled At Random and Godflesh's Love Is A Drug From Hell are other similar ones for me.
i agree totally
Thank you FF for making this amazing record. Rediscovering all of your music has relit the flame in me when I was giving up and about to say goodbye to everything . I've been in a void the last month. This song still makes me tear up the same as it did when it came out. This album was such a masterpiece and this song was the magnum opus. All the feels pain and frustration and the bleak light of hope at the end of the tunnel. You guys have done God's work without even knowing it. You guys got me back in the gym and got me fighting and raging against the dying of the light of today's society. The world is so bleak right now and the world needs this more than ever. We re sinking with no anthem for hope
I feel the same way. You are not alone. I hope that you are continuing to do better. In a world of darkness, as crazy as it sounds, I do have hope.
I hope that you are still us big dawg! I don't know you but I know what you mean.
Fear Factory is by far one of the most creative metal bands out there. Obsolete was such an amazing album . From front to back . One of my favorite songs was freedom or fire..
@Teph

@HardcoreMetal89
Industrial metal lost its way
There will be a new wave
once we figure out Nu metal is fake

Metal lives on
Its only as good as you want it to be!
Never forget
Metal lives on!
There are more genres now of metal than there are of any mainstream music!
Metal only dies when we die!
@Headbanger Just checked godflesh out a bit, its not bad at all but this guy can actually sing
@Headbanger that kind of happened after this album didn't it, this album was what blew them up on a world charts.
April 2019, they could release this tomorrow and it would still be ahead of its time. Genius 👍
Feb 1, 2023 still strong.
January 2023 and still listening
10/14/22 been spinning these guys since the mid 90s!
@Not Sure Explain? I'm confused, Mister.
So true! I forgot all about this if you can believe it. Rediscovering it is like awakening from a coma.
This song pulled me through a very dark time of my life.
Yes
It's that kind of song isn't it? Hope things are better for you now man.
@MrBlick76 They will always hold a place in my heart. Especially this song! \m/ \m/
Ff is doing that for me right now. God bless brother. Stay metal
I get goosebumps listening to this masterpiece.
I tear up like a little btch and I'm not ashamed
You are not kidding man, me too
Type O Negative and Fear Factory is Litteraly my adolescents.
Much simpler times back than I want the 90s back!!
I love type o hell yeah
One of my all-time favourite song collections. The first time I heard it, the energy it emitted was so raw and beautiful, like a star.
'Reach for the sky, touch the sky. Revive a hope for mankind' was probably the most optimistic and epic lyrics they ever wrote.
Burton C Bell is a legend.
Dino too
He is somehow a prophet who tried to show us the terrible truth behind the SYSTEM.
Burton Seabell
@This Place Is Death would be interested to hear more. Haven't met them but the recent interviews with Burton and Dino were interesting yet painful to read. Great band, saw them play Demanufacture in it's entirety a few years ago, amazing gig.
Met him many years ago after a gig, their tour bus had broken down at the back of the club and he came out to chat with us, very cool guy. Dino was a fucking bellend though.
Consumed with memories
that proceded to die.
Given the chance to breath
life was slipping away
Suffered through tragic nigh
Of my slow decay
Deceptive tendencies dragged my soul away
All that I know there was no God for me
A Force that shatters all,

Funny how nostalgic this is and how modern it sounds. Wonder if FF will have the Pink Floyd effect and have an explosion of interest after their time. They sure as fuck deserve it!
45 yr old here. Taking my 7yr old ro swe them with Static X in Feb '23. He loves this stuff. I've got hope for a strong resurgence. I really hope they get it!
Deftones has become popular amongst the kids. So, not totally out of the question.
Good analogy to Floyd. FF was always on another level progressively speaking. The talent was light years ahead of its time. This album was their magnum opus. This song was definitely the deepest
Each phase of my life, i always hear Fear Factory differently, whether sad, happy, or lonely. They always hit different, these guys will always be loved and remembered by the few for a longtime, I will.
I couldnt agree more...but with how woke and stupid people have gotten it looks doubtful
To relaize there wont be ever be a time in metal music like this ever again is something else. Thank you Fear Factory
Such a beautiful song. So far ahead of its time it really is incredible. So glad i saw them in their prime 4-5 times in the late 90s early 2000s
I swear, Bell is like the Corey Taylor of this band. Can vocalize like an angel and growl like a monster.
This is the song I listen to during those days when things just seem a bit harder to cope with than most. Incredibly uplifting.
I'm with u bro
get goosebumps everytime I hear this masterpiece
This was THE song that got me into this band. That odd mix of melody, synths and the chugging thunder. Really brilliant song, this and Replica are my faves.
Greatest metal song ever made Fear Factory are pure Fucking Legendary
Love the way FF create their synthetic/mechanized universe. Dramatic, energising track
Burton C. Bell, we’ll miss you so very much.
Pretty sure I found FF via a Metal Hammer CD Roadrunner showcase involving this song. One of the best teenage discoveries I had. Honestly, I never delved too deep into this band but 'Resurrection', as well as 'Linchpin' always stayed with me. Those two in particular are genuine metal classics. In a genre often swamped with negativity - belying Black Sabbath's path - Fear Factory harnessed darker emotions with the prospect of something better after the catharsis of metal.
Fear factory will never die their music is fucking amazing
This album just blew me away when it came out !!! This band always had a vision and sound that was only theirs !!! Can't mistake them for anyone !!!
When I was overseas doing crazy crap, when I had a moment to myself, I would lay in my bunk, put on my headphones, max the volume, and listen to this album (this song in particular) focusing on each part of the music. It was like a form of meditation. I truly believe that I came out of that shit much better off mentally than a lot of other guys as a direct result of doing that. Long Live Fear Factory!
they were ahead of their time. and the music is timeless very talented musicians
Timeless!!
You can certainly hear their influence on a lot of newer bands.
Timeless indeed!
Levi McElravy-Indeed!! It's my favorite album by them(I have 4 of their albums)...
Michael Profita I so agree.
Fear Factory are the soundtrack to my teenage years....I get such warm reminiscent feelings when listening to songs like this.
It's true man. Linchpin video opened up a whole new door to modern metal for me. What a time it was
i feel you, mate
Me too
One of the most under rated bands ever !!! I like rap, hip hop, metal, classical. From Beethoven to ...... Fear Factory. These guys belong
Re-listening to this after more than 20years and man it’s still so epic! Old me had some bloody good taste!
I heard this when I was 14 in 2004 on a burned cd from my friend! But didn't have the names or titles.. Years later remembered the lyrics and boom found this. I probably replayed this song 500 times on my portable cd player. Burned thru countless batteries! Man I love this song it has every thing
Fear Factory is simply one of the greatest metal bands to ever exist.
His voice is sublime. Just perfect.
Apocalipsis ahora, Burton C Bell es único, nos advirtió todo con sus letras, una leyenda, Fearfactory por siempre...
Whenever Fear Factory is mentioned this is the song the comes to my mind, I freakin love it
For me It's Pisschrist or Freedom or Fire, but I love this one...
nah, gotta be replica
Love to sing this song in school 🤘🏻🎸
Yeah🤘🏻🤘🏻
This track never gets old for me. It's just so beautifully done and full of emotion. I also love how they portray the storytelling of the album tracks in this music video, not to mention the obvious protest against religion. Really, a masterpiece. I love Fear Factory and wish Burton C Bell and Dino would get along. Best luck to Milo!
the ending, 3:42, so powerful. get goosebumps every single time i listen to it... burton is an amazing signer. since i saw them in 95 for the demanufacture tour, i've been hooked. can't wait for their next album.
you should check out Tool's Bottom (especially at about 4:30), the ending of Forty Six & 2. hell, even Schism
Wow luckyyyyyy. Demanufacture was the game changer
Agreed.
his voice is live horrible, saw them 3 times
It is sooooo damn awesome!! I agree torque and hell ya Stickshift! And Kamyl i agree, one of my favorite singers of all time....Burton is unbelievable!
❤️ the story-line to these albums. Always move me, favorite artists of all time, & still holds true for me like almost 20years later. Amazing! 👱♀️🤘
greatest industrial metal band EVER!
@237 explain to me how Fear Factory isnt the best…
You've got some weird ass taste if Fear Factory is the best Industrial band you've ever heard.
Turmion Kätilöt?
Leichenschrei No. It was spelled right.
Fear Factory was the first metal band to have any substance to the lyrics.... not just mindless violence and brutality ( I do so adore brutality) yet, I appreciate intellect and deep thought. This (ObSoLeTe) album was perfect....One of my favorite CD's of ALL time (I am 32). Rage with intelligent thought to fuel said rage until despair and the acceptance of the inevitable.
Timeless Masterpiece, such a pity so many will not hear it. Open your mind... I will be buried to this song and I could not find anything more perfect.
My favourite band of all time! Started listening when about 13/14 years old. Now coming up 26. I might grow old, but this song never does!
Fear Factory such a diverse band! they change there sound all the time and dude i'm so addicted to it!! Bring the noise boys!
What a chorus this is omg. Burton Cell had some pipes back in the day. It's crazy how good it still sounds.
Reeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiveeeeee
Aaaaaaaaaaaall myyyyy drreeeeeaaaaams
Greatest song by the greatest band. Enough said.
2020 Still Love Fear Factory ❤
I was fortunate to see them in 1998 at the Alrosa villa . I met the whole band , great guys, good times. It was one of the most memorable shows I’ve been to . The line up was amazing too. I got my cd signed by everyone . Snagged a pick from Dino.
The older I get the more this band grows on me. Which is cool. Because its the exact opposite of what usually happens. Also their songs have great replay ability. They don't get old.
Over twenty years later and I’m stilling listening to the Obsolete album, and I never get tired of its “rock opera” story.
If there was any song I'd pick as the finale of the old Fear Factory, this is it.
Fear Factory were my Metallica growing up!
Got to both of them play in Sydney when they backed them up. Great night
Top song, have not heard it in 10 years and its still as good as it was back then.
His singing is just so distinctive and beautiful. You wouldn't mistake him for any other vocalist.
this is what metal should be, no BS, just a powerful message, and a kickass song
These last "again" scream of every Chorus and the whole post-chorous always gives me goosebumps. So epic!
I cry till this day to this song. The lyrics and the beautiful music..It's just overwhelming. How you can actually cry to a metal song. You can take these lyrics in a different direction and actually put your life in it..It's so sad.
That concept of having to pay for fresh air at a booth has been stuck in my head for years, since I first saw it in the nineties. These guys were Indeed way ahead. And if this album was released in today's Era, it would definetly still be groundbreaking. Such damn artistry.
reading the story in booklet gave this album another layer (and yeah, my 18yo self playing Carmageddon along)
i still consider this music a masterpiece in term of industrial metal... its so deep and well made XD
This song probably has one of the best endings of any song ever.
Who doesn't adore Burton's beautiful vocal work on this album?? His music has burned through all of our souls. Love ya Burt!
F-E-A-R F-A-C-T-O-R-Y : This is my fav band of all time, trully inspiring, gives me chills on my spine everytime i listen to Demanufacture or Obsolete....i love the other albuns too but as a diehard fan i cannot forget this 2 complete masterpieces like deman and obsol. This band and specially mr burton c. bell are visionaries on all boundaries, from the cyber sound to the lyrics...every visionary lyric is what's happening on our days..and maybe on a closer years. FF will be in me until i'm dead
This song should have a lot more view than it has, this song is epic.
This still sounds MASSIVE in 2020! What a tune :-)
How do you measure greatness? By the strength and originality of this incredible song. This is FEAR FACTORY when it was the real Fear Factory.
One of the BEST BANDS OF ALL TIME!!!!
BRILLIANT!!!
This whole album was amazing and told a story that I really wish had been a movie or Broadway musical.
Burton's vocals are on another level. Metal is full of incredible vocalists, but the way Burton switches seamlessly from those mesmerizing cleans to that deep , powerful yell/ scream....he has no equal.
One of the best concerts I have ever been to....granted that was 20+ years ago but still....❤️❤️
fear factory for ever .....anything that changes someones life the way this band did
deserves recognition untill the end of time...times may have changed but my absolute admiration for this music will never dir.....metel for ever....
One of the greatest albums of all time
Fear factory är utan tvekan det bästa banden inom industri metal. Deras låtar är sköna att lyssna på, även när sången är lite mörkare. Det här var låten som fick mig att upptäcka denna grupp och det är jag än idag tacksam över.
Fear Factory is arguably the best bands in the industrial metal. Their songs are pleasant to listen to, even when the song is a bit darker. This was the song that made me discover this group and I am still grateful.
I saw them four times, and each time they delivered. Shook hands with Burton told him he was a genius, and was just so humble.
Probably my favorite band, got to see them twice live, I always come back to their albums the most, love their music....
My favorite Fear Factory album, such fond memories when this record came out.
Damnit!!! It’s been years since I heard this masterpiece!!! Still absolutely a badass song!!!
all the Obsolete album will never obsolete. this is damn classic
Goosebumps everytime. Powerful song
The whole song is amazing but the end always gives me chills.
Haven't heard this in decades at this point and it just happened to pop into my head at 6am.
Industrial metal was before and after obsolete album. Master piece. The best line up of fear factory with Cazares and Herrera. Greatness.
This song is so epic. That ending melts me. TOUCHHHH THEEEE SKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
One of my fave Fear Factory songs. Just awesome, everything about this is epic win.
This clip deserves way more views. All time favourite song...
My first fear factory album and I still love listening to it. Feels like Dino has essentially swept the rug from under Burtons feet now when it comes to who own fear factory, very sad.
one of the greatest songs of all time.
In case no one knows, Fear Factory is making another story album for 2012. This is real metal!!! \m/
With the drones and the mask from the booth, this was years ahead of its time. Just awesome.
I always had a love for for Fear Factory, which ever point or step in my life. They are always great to listen to, happy or sad...lonely or neutral.
obsolete and somber eyes to the sky are two of the most underrated metal albums
What an epic album Fear factory kick arse, they are brilliant live too
This whole album is a damn masterpiece.
I've never liked that kind of music, but now something elusive responded deeply into my mind when I listen to this song. FANTASTIC!
Song gives me shivers.
Haven't seen these guys live in 15 years. Would LOVE to see them live again
DE LO MEJOR DE FEAR FACTORY ME HIZO RECORDAR TANTOS MOMENTOS, HEEELLL YYEEAAAAHHHH
3 days ago I visited a show of FF for the 2nd time in my life, to my surprise they came with H-K (the song that got me into these guys, and to this day still is my favorite) and followed with this. The crowd singing the quiet parts along with Burton made it one of the best moments in my life. And after that, they even topped it with Martyr. Was stone deaf for 2 days before my hearing came back, but DAMN THAT WAS FUCKING WORTH IT. (Sorry for my language.)
the sound of these guys, the energy, it will be unmatched forever.
This band been my favourite ever since high school and I'm 35 years old great times I don't regret none of them at all RIP Nadia Becerra i miss you so much sister😭😭
Keep up the good work. NEVER let go of your faith it is of imesurable value. May the grace of God be with you forever.
Even 10 years later, this song sounds futuristic \m/
@Blacknumber1 23 now
Bruh 21
I cannot believe this is 25 years old now, I still get goosebumps even now 25 years after I first heard it, it's an incredible piece of music. The whole period when FF were riding that incredible creative wave with the triumverate of Demanufacture, Obsolete and Digimortal just gave metal a shot in the arm it desperately needed at the end of the 1990s.
My interpretation of this one is that a machine designed to kill, it's one and only purpose, has killed every living thing as it was told to and now it's AI faces the prospect that it has no purpose anymore and should simply shut down. Instead it finds religion and through that realises that it can attone for what it's done, it can have a purpose to keep "living", discard the hateful programming and the AI is actually doing what it was designed to do and adapt but maybe not in the way its now long dead inventors ever imagined.
This might be my favorite all-time song. I have been listening to music for 40+ years, yet this song continues to haunt me, to follow me, to torment me, but I will never leave it, nor will it leave me
I love this song! Thanks FF for being born to do what you do best!
