Just started to listen to their discography again and just found out about their breakup. It's sad. I'm 36 and their music has carried me through my youth and so many memories come up, when I hear it. I hope, both sides are doing well.
Is something not true with this information and interview about Burton left band and he want, was his free will. Maybe he has no choice. This have no sense. It`s sad because people should help each other but there was not help. Only money? Dino care only about his arse, gain money. I don`t like judge anybody but everything is not like should be. What da hell is this why something divide people not connect again. No matter what we do, something wrong or good It doesn`t matter. Eh.
46 and one my fav bands. Not sure why they can’t get along but I do know 1 thing. Same thing happened to Guns N’ Roses and ruined that band in their prime( they are done !!! No coming back).
But Burton came back to the band in 2003 with Christian and Raymond still in the band. They released Archetype which is one of the strongest FF albums. Now Raymond, Christian and Burton are all gone. This could be a sign
@@taraslaszyn6974 he did quit once before. He left and they broke up. Then they reformed without Dino and Strand on bass. Then they brought Dino back and hired Hoglan and essentially kicked out Wolbers and Herrera. Then they fucked over Strand and Hoglan. When Bell talked about their new album Dino went on social media and said it was bullshit. In the meantime unbeknownst to Bell his share of the name came up and Dino bought it essentially owning the band.
"He doesn't come across as a fighter" - Archetype will always be in my top 3 Fear Factory albums and it's mainly because of the pure honest rage you can feel in Burton's voice and lyrics. To say "this guy" has no fight is an insult when in actuality the band worked because of the pure awesome rage in Burton's voice. I can respect Dino as a musician but as a person I could care less.
@@dozerroman4325 I cannot tell you how many people I have argued with about how to correctly say that. "Could care less", implying you have at least a small amount of care. "Couldn't care less", meaning you don't care at all, so you couldn't possibly care less than that. I've gotten people *PISSED* at me telling them they're wrong for saying it the first way. lol
The songs are amazing no doubt. I wonder what it would sound with a remaster. The drums could have more BOOM. Listen to Ektomorf, super heavy sound and I feel like FF could work so well with that
It's not just the music but the lyrics and concept was waaaaay before it's time also. Who else was talking about technology and Man Vs Machine in the early to mid 90s like FF were!? Their songs will go down in history as prophecies.
I like Fear Factory, but they are no where close to anything Meshuggah has ever made. Meshuggah is one of the most influencial metal bands of all time. while Fear Factory is also an influencial band without any question
I really believe Burton is the only one with a pure heart in this scenario. He has been fucked over and exploited by his bandmates over and over again. I don't blame him for finally leaving...I wish Dino and FF all the best though: amazing musician! Can't wait for the next album
Let’s be honest here. Burton’s live cleans have been absolute shit for the last 20 years. I love what his voice can do but I accept that he just can’t do it often live.
Honestly after reading a bit on the court documents released and Dino's crowdfunding to get the last album funded and released, I'm gonna have to say I respectfully disagree. Love Burton's works, particularly in the old hey days, but he wasn't a saint, especially in regards to the lawsuits and bankruptcy case.
@@user-vn1di4oq4w basically Burton ‘remortgaged’ the band brand with the other band members in trying to keep Fear Factory going, whilst the drummer & bass player quit they refused to sign off on merch contracts, then sued Burton for not receiving money from said merchandise contracts that didn’t materialise, in stepped Dino to also Sue Burton, the lawsuits drove Burton to the precipice of bankruptcy and cost him his Royalties to get out, he will never receive anymore money from album sales of the old catalogue his voice is on, and people are all surprised pikachu face over Burton being angry; refusing to speak to the other guys let alone be in the same room. Dino’s ‘left the door open’ was a jobbing session musician contract of $900 a month whilst touring, No merch no album royalties no expenses. Can see why Burtons had to move on…
Your right on most of it except I never was in a lawsuit with him and I never sued him, that was Ray and COW. 2nd I offered Burt half of the earnings but he would still have to pay Ray and Cow 15% of his earning from live performances to pay off his million dollar debt to those guys
Arrogance, man. Don’t get me wrong, Dino is one of THE greatest guitarists in metal. Ever. But it’s no secret that he has had MANY problems with people in his bands throughout the last 30 years.
People may well have valid concerns regarding Dino, but let’s get some hard facts (not opinions or gut feelings) clear on the actual timeline and Burton’s fluctuating relationship with Extreme Metal. In 2002, after Digimortal, he quit the band on account of two things: he claimed not to like this sort of music and also had problems with Dino. Even Raymond did an interview back then where he slammed Dino. Meanwhile, Dino basically shrugged it off and said Burton’s heart wasn’t into it and that he’s over 30 and this sort of music and energy doesn’t appeal to him. Burton’s new project, Ascension of the Watchers (a very different genre) had its first tracks released. Then around 2003, Burton, Christian, and Raymond began working on Fear Factory material again while keeping Dino out of the project. This resulted in the release of Archetype, which some people consider a solid return to form using the Demanufacture formula. Great album, really. Some subtle attacks on Dino in said album. Over and above that, it showed that Christian is an amazing guitarist who can faithfully compose guitar parts in the Fear Factory formula and in a unique and distinctly tight technical manner. Then in 2005, there was the awkwardly produced produced, and somewhat experimental Transgression. This ended up being divisive but not an outright bad album as many also liked the raw sound. Though both Christian and Burton don’t reflect back favourably on how that album turned out. And then suddenly, just after some live touring in 2006, Burton remodels himself and does an interview about how he wanted to “escape Fear Factory”. How he doesn’t like being engaged with that kind of aggression and hate, and that Ascension of the Watchers allowed him to free himself from Fear Factory. Things go quiet for a while while Christian and Raymond do their own thing. And then in 2009/2010, Burton is back with Dino, who he has mended the bridge with, while completely locking out Christian and Raymond from the band. There are weird public statements from Burton about how Fear Factory needed a course correction and to function as a proper business. Guess he wasn’t really trying to escape it? They go on to release Mechanized, which I think is Fear Factory’s most aggressive and best album to date. Great album, but off a very strange and shady backstory. Raymond does an interview around this time simply saying that he has no idea what’s going on but that he and Christian also have rights to the Fear Factory name, so, in theory, there are technically two Fear Factory bands. Since then, there have been plenty of lineup changes with Burton and Dino being the core members and then that dynamic falling apart due to claims of lawsuit tension with Christian and Raymond right before the release of the last album, Aggression Continuum. Again, this was followed by cryptic claims by Burton about finding Dino untrustworthy and opportunistic; how he doesn’t trust any of them and doesn’t want to be involved in such musical endeavours because he has, once again, changed. So what’s the emerging pattern throughout all this? 1. Burton appears to go through phases where he genuinely doesn’t like this sort of music and tends to retreat to his softer, experimental rock projects. He makes very convincing cases every time about how he has changed or had some sort of creative epiphany, only to return later and often make even heavier and aggressive sounding records with Fear Factory under any lineup. Needless to say, he comes across as being quite fickle on this front, but perhaps there are more complex reasons at play. 2. Dino was kept out of the band for at least 7-ish years, and never tried to impose himself or engage in lawsuits during that time. He moved on with his other metal projects, which-regardless of whether one likes his character or not-is no surprise as he is a very distinguished song writer and guitarist. 3. In the context of Fear Factory, there do appear to be some hints of various people (not just Burton, Christian and Raymond) not being able to function consistently with Dino. The cold dismissals of both Byron Stroud and Gene Hoglan being rather alarming examples of this issue. Though again, we don’t have have a lot of details here and perhaps the picture is considerably more complicated. Perhaps Burton has something to account for here as well. The rest is entirely speculation.
Sad when bands fall apart and just start suing. Some just stay together for ever. Original lineup and all or just call it quits and end it smoothly. Like Cathedral .
It’s reassuring to see someone focus on facts as opposed to who your favourite member is or who’s “really to blame.” Also, Mechanize is a classic. Maybe my favourite FF album.
You could have shortened that novel into, FF shit the bed because of money, ego, musician's "growing up", and also realizing who will, and won't, stab them in the back to pay their mortgage. Anyone in the music business knows that's how most bands end... it just happens much sooner... before they have a house to pay for.
I listen to Genexus at least once a week. I don’t know where that album stands with other FF fans, but for me…it hits perfect front to back. I would’ve loved to see these guys live. :/
Genexus is the best Fear Factory album in my opinion. Anodized, Genexus, Enhanced Reality and Expiration Date are amongst the best Fear Factory songs. It's really sad that everything went wrong because with Genexus and Aggression Continuum, the band was at the top of its game.
There is no FF atm and after last album i think there are not higher chances for something new. Burton sound like burnt out no power and no love for music and this is cruel wild business. Maybe controled and rule by venomous people. I just thinking about how i should help and i don`t know if done everything. Anyway that times was very good. People tried talk with others, different people, from different countries. We all come with different worlds. This was FF best achievement ever. That was really awesome thoughts and feelings something like universal deep feelings, real connection with people but after all I get hard kick in arse too many times and even not think about this can have end. Everything can have end how long we want something. When is good, so is good nobody thinking about stoo those good vibes. Is always one greedy person, which want to destroy everything, destroy what somebody build, created. Every greedy evil people should go to jail. I say.
I got my machine gun picking by learning from Dino. He said in an interview with guitar world years ago that you should learn acoustic first because it’s much more difficult to fret and play so that once you go electric, your form is solid. Best advice for metalheads looking to fix their picking technique.
I can say firsthand from a substantial timeline of experience, Burt and Dino are both excellent, creative, empathic, ridiculously so fuckin cool, and very strong-souled artists. The number of years between them and the energy of so many collectively creative years surely manifests equally powerful emotions. Can't discount the personal pride as well, as caustic as it can be (deadly sin, they say). The most powerfully close human bonds, when broken, can become equally powerful in aversion. Which really sucks, but I get it. 1) Don't be silly and take "sides" in someone else's personal battles on the internet. It looks stupid. 2) If the obvious critical hits among the former bandmates can be felt by the fans, imagine the emotional blows the artists feel themselves. 3) Love these guys for the years of music, many many seriously fun times, insane nostalgia, and future iconic music to come.
Dino is a man of real wisdom. He's old enough to understand that life is never static, nothing lasts forever. You have to learn to be ok with things dying, both metaphorically and physically.
@@hakametal Burt has not been able to sing for years anyway - They would have to get rid of him to actually stay being a live band. Who really cares Burt vs Dino, at least Dino can perform musically unlike Burt who wrecked his voice and talent.
Dino is a fat controlling douche, he is always right; in his own mind anyway. Look at what he did to FF, Bruj, DH. He managed to ruin every band he was in. "i'M a LeAdEr"
I think is something happen with Burton voice or whatever. Maybe because he sign something by his blood. I don`t know he had conciouss that times or not. I never sign anything or one time i got small credit but is nothing similar to sign something by blood. BadBlood. For what, for the money only? That masonic, illuminati, satanic, occult szit all go to jail forever and they never get out from place where they go. Real HELL for them. They think they control everything besides one thing, their personal own minds.
One of my most awesome concert memories was singing Burtons lyrics at him while I was crowd surfing as Fear Factory was kicking ass on the second stage at Ozzfest in Burgettstown PA!
I was there in Columbus, Ohio...FF was amazing that day, Ozzfest back in the day was beyond words. I went to 1999, 2000, and 2001 and I can't even sum up in words how truly special it was. Makes me want to cry just thinking about it!
Burton or no Burton, THANK YOU FEAR FACTORY! A whole lifetime of music, shows and sounds that no one else will ever come close to sharing with us fans. You deserve it. Best wishes from an eternal fan-
Burton WAS fear factory. His amazing vocals are what made them so unique. Their drumming was very good and their mix of electronic instruments for background, etc made them much ahead of their time but its was the melodic portions of the songs where Burton truly shined, especially in the metal game. Fear Factory, Pantera and Sepultura were 3 bands that found a sound that no one else could imitate or duplicate that not only set them worlds apart from every other band out there but also from each other. TBH Dino sounds like he's quite egotistical and feels like his shit don't stink. Callign himself a boss and and an alpha and saying Burton aint a fighter just seems unprofessional for one but also, real tough guys and alphas dont claim to be them, they dont have to.
I mean, sure some of the later albums (including one without Dino) seemed to have its moments and worth listening to, but they peaked a long time ago. Demanufacture was the last great album IMO and nothing compares to Soul of a New Machine.
I missed out on the classic lineup, but I'm fortunate to have seen and worked for Fear Factory with at least Dino and Burton back in 2010. I was a stagehand at a venue in my hometown and they came on tour with Prong which also had Tony Campos of Static X on bass. What a show they put on.
If every fan had the experience of being in a band they'd understand how VERY fortunate we are that ANY bands are able to get together and stay together long enough to make music, and how blessed we are when those people happen to be talented AF. It's damned hard to get 3-5 dudes on the same page where they don't just want to play music, but play together, and tour/record. Many, many talented folks have been left by the wayside, working their "day job" for a lifetime just because either their desire wasn't strong enough, or the other dudes around them fell apart.
Yeah man. Being in a band is no easy feat. You're split into 3 - 5 people so naturally you're going to have conflictions and even creative differences. Keeping a band together takes work, time, and dedication.
You can tell that Dino still has room in his heart for his friend. Burton is such an amazing vocalist. Some things happen but I really hope that he comes back and blows us away because in all truth. Fear Factory of the 90's and 2000's is the greatest Rock band of that era and this era really. Here's to hope and a prayer of a reunion one day. The fans love you guys.
I do believe the 90s and early 2000s is the best Era for Fear Factory. I wouldn't stay they are the greatest rock band of the 90s and 2000s though. How are you measuring the greatness?
@@travismarshall1481 they were innovative, their style is their style. There followed so many copy cats after Demanufactured and never acknowledge Fear Factory...and still have not done so!

I was one of those unnamed, unrecognized tail gunner's during the space shuttle missions of the 80's-90's, and let the trauma get to me and then one day, I bumped into Dino and he recognized my contribution and bought me a beer and a taco. He's a great man. Ty for your service to metal and Country, Sir!
Fear Factory is my favorite band. Love dinos guitar playing n Raymond s unique drum style, but Burton has been the only member for 30 years strait so I grew up with his voice so this really really sucks. FF is my all time favorite, so I'm gonna wait n see. The new album has some instant fear factory classics
1:50 Not only is Dino shitting on Burton, having zero respect, but also shitting on the fans here. This says a lot about his character. Also it feels like Cazares is trying to push the narrative in his favour by appearing on shows like this, putting Burton in a bad light. So...
No matter what happens to Fear Factory: I will always be a fan of all of you guys. Your music followed me through my whole life and you'll always be one of my favourite Bands every!
Fear Factory is one of the main bands that got me into metal in 1995. I "got it" when I heard zero signal. hate to see what happened to the band and their relationship
@@fabiogirardi2050 yesss! That was probably the exact moment it clicked in my head also. The blast beats from Raymond and dinos riffs as johnny cage is doing all sorts of crazy shit hahaha. Sooo good.
@@Runny117 FF got me in my teenage years when Zero Signal was used as the backing track in the intro to the original Carmageddon game. I sought out Fear Factory and listened to Demanufacture, and that turned me into a lifetime metalhead!
Dino is my absolute favorite musician. A riff machine. He was the original AI of riffs. His chord progressions, the tone, the groove behind everything. Burtons vocal absolutely made them next level, but there were plenty of other vocalists he worked with and still sounded pretty amazing. I always wanted to write a song with him.
We, my band morgAtory, opened up for FF on their first tour after " ...Mindkiller..." came out, back in 1992. They weren't big, and we didn't like them too much; then Demanufacture came out and at 1st I thought that it was a different band, but that album made them much bigger. I doubt Dino is reading this but if you need a singer, I am definitely available 😊
so much respect for Dino. A working man's musician. I've grown up with Fear Factory since the Demanufacture album and even got your autograph when you came down to Mercedes, Texas. I will always love Fear Factory.
My personal(unpopular opinion) is my favorite Obsolete hands down I had gone through hell in back in my life when that album dropped. I was 16 I'm almost 43 & can play every song on this album on drums & guitar by memory
pretty arrogant/passive agressive presumption on dinos part i think, burt seems to be more of an emotionally based person and dino resents him not just getting over the bad blood and putting his nose to the grind stone.
Exactly. Dino is living up to his reputation in this video. Maybe his 'bossman vision' ain't all its cracked up to be when the 3 other members of the band can make a better album without him,
Dino....dude....you got me thru the toughest times of my life. Thanks. To all the band members love you guys. Deman got me thru really really really tough times. Thanks guys!!!
I actually met Burton around the time he left FF. He ended up staying a few days in a hotel an hour from where I live and ended up doing an instore signing at a record store I’ve gone to several times. I didn’t really get why he left/wasn’t in the band, I didn’t really question it either, I was just happy to see him, even though I knew Burton wasn’t in FF anymore. I met him and his wife, both great people, had 3 pictures with him and got my FF shirt and patch signed.
I remember seeing FF in Wellington NZ many years ago. Was awesome..small venue, so close to the band. Was great and at least I will have the memory of that night. Dino really turned me onto 7 string guitar.
I remember Burt once said, “having a kid makes you change”. That was back around 2005-2008. I think he just wanted to move on into becoming a family man with a normal life. Bobby Hewitt, drummer of Orgy, did the same thing.
The fact is, Burton IS Fear Factory, his iconic vocals is what set the band apart from all the other bands in the pile. Its like how Journey is still going these days, but without Steve Perry pretty much nobody cares. Burton Bell is to Metal what Steve Perry was to 80s Rock. There are just some vocalists who are THAT important, that if you try to imagine their band without them, you just cant.
I would absolutely step in and do vocals. Fear Factory head lined the very first concert I ever went to with Dry Kill Logic and Puya. I love love this band.
@@phillipbug958 Court documents and internet sources including Wiki state that in 2019 Raymond and Christian filed lawsuit against Dino and Burton for use of name. This made it hard to release new material till copyright ownership was legally established. I don't think Dino was trying to change his name to fear factory, lol. Pretty sure he's happy being a Dino.
Odd comment from Dino re. Burton “Giving Up.” When Dino left FF in the early 2000’s, he himself was… not? Rather, he was following some *Creative Vision* when he completely left FF (in a fight with Burton!) to form other bands? But Burton leaving in ‘22 was him just “not being alpha” enough?? Wtf, Dino…
I don’t know, man. I want to hear the other sides. Maybe I missed those interviews. To me, it always screams toxic when a musician says “I released…” rather than “we released…” Unless he actually did everything himself, then awesome.
I think Dino was always a little selfish. I knew this. I liked mr. selfish, awesome. Now is just more visible. What he done? Play his 5, 6 string guitar? Without many friends now and i think me too. 😝
@@ponrix the lawsuits came from Christian (bass player 1994-2001, guitar player 2002-2009) and Ray (original drummer and co-founder of the band) for the band reconvening with Dino & Burton with a new drummer and Byron Stroud (bass player when Christian switched to guitar). Ray & Christian still had 25% interest in the band when the re-boot happened in 2009. They felt cut out and wanted to either all convene as they were or to stop Dino & Burton from using the Fear Factory name......more or less anyway, that's what the crux of the lawsuits were about. Christian, especially, wanted to reform the "classic" lineup of Fear Factory with him, Ray, Dino, and Burton. Funny thing is, he said this in interviews as the lawsuits were ongoing! What Dino is conveniently leaving out in this interview is that at some point last year, he bought the Fear Factory name and likeness 100%, essentially cutting out Burton from any share in the band, at least from a business perspective. It's now a similar situation that Black Sabbath found themselves in back in the mid-1980's when Tony Iommi owned 100% of the Black Sabbath name. In Iommi's defense, he was the only member of that band to never quit or leave the band for any reason. If there was one person deserving of 100% ownership of Sabbath, it was Iommi. Anyway, with Dino's strong-arming of the band name, I think that was the last straw for Burton coupled with all of the money he's spent defending the lawsuits against them. I think he was just fed up with everything. I can't say I blame him for leaving, but as a Fear Factory fan for over 20+ years, it's really sad to see. As of now, Dino has hired a new singer and we'll have to wait until the next Fear Factory album for the singer to be revealed. I'll tell you one thing, Burton is going to cast a huge shadow over anybody that Dino brings in to replace him. I don't see it ending well for the band. The chances of a classic lineup era reunion is pretty much well....obsolete (pun intended). I think there's a better chance of the Gallagher brothers making up and reforming Oasis after nearly 15 years of acrimony than I do of a Fear Factory reunion with Dino, Burton, Christian, and Ray.

Great interview but man this makes me real sad. Remember seeing them in ‘97 at Ozzfest for the first time at GreatWoods. Saw them many times after and they were always part of the top 3 bands that played at that fest, easy. Already had Soul of a New Machine so I was so god damn pumped to see em and they always delivered 11 fold!
Fear factory has been and will always be my favorite band . Im 42 and have been clean from heroin since 2004 because of fear factory and the album archetype
I saw these guys like 8 times in the late 90's early 2000's, what a fun time and i think i even still have the fear factory hockey jersey from 1 of the house shows. Just a fun band who put on a great show every single time I watched them. I miss these guys and soulfly.
I can totally relate to fans being stuck in a moment in time and never being happy with the new material. Those people have strong "peaked in high school" energy and I don't know if you can call them real fans. They're just putting the responsibility on YOU to relive the best moment of THEIR lives.
I mean.... sometimes the new music just isn't as good, or it doesn't sound like the same band, and instead sounds like a band you aren't into... what do you want people to support a band who's music you don't like just because you liked their first few albums?
I don't know much of the band drama that happened. All I know is Dino left the group and Fear Factory put out a phenomenal record in Archetype. That is by far their best and most influential record in my opinion. I'm glad they're playing Archetype live now.
In metal we have a very unreasonable expectation for bands to be "forever together". Most marriages don't last this long, people inevitably change through the years, gaining interests, losing interests. It's totally normal he's out, but this is also a new chance to change a little bit, to experiment. I wish Dino all the best.
They have been my favorite band since they were still touring for Soul... I could tell 30 years worth of stories of how committed to this band I have been for MOST of my life and it saddens me that after everything I view Dino as the bad guy.
They literally kicked him out of the band at one point. He got back in and he made sure that wasn’t going to happen again. Especially as the Fear Factory sound. Suck off.
@@raakareiska9804 who's slandering? Dude just said he gets that gut feeling, didn't make any claims, much less accusations, that it's a factual thing. We're allowed to have impressions of people, no? Your reaction is unwarranted.
Really good podcast arguably the best. Its my dream to see my favorite musicians interviewed to speak instead of deliberately antagonizing them like media outlets tend to do.
I think he is in Ascension of the Warchers. A very different type of band. Personally, I want to see Dino continue Divine Heresy. Two albums just wasn't enough.
Divine Heresy no. There was two vocalists they left. Last guy was so angry and beat him to face or Dino`s woman. Horrible person, horrible sick movement, no matter what happened. When physical power are used. I not get this.
Butt's vocals weren't cutting it anymore. The last two albums were painfully autotuned. Best he step back gracefully with his reputation as an innovator intact.
Talking about guys who only ever knew playing in a band as their bread n butter, wanting to ".....go make pottery" I remember listening to an interview with Dan Spitz , one of the original members of Anthrax talk about leaving because of exactly that, he went on to make Watches! It was interesting to listen to the mindset of people getting older. As a teenager you dream about doing something, you achieve your dream, and then it becomes a job and something you struggle with enthusiasm to keep doing which for those watching as fan dreaming of the same seems insane, but not for the person who once lived the dream only to feel it slowly turn into a torturous nightmare of repetition. I don't know how any band that made it big in their early 20s could still be interested in writing, let alone performing the same songs well into their 50s and beyond. With some bands, you can hear the fire is gone and the quality tank, compared to past efforts was empty a long time ago, Metallica is a classic case and point IMO as much as ill still always find money to see them live again for the umpteenth time.
People love to put the blame on Dino, but anybody who's worked directly with FF in the past knows the kind of person Burton truly is and between the two of them Burt is surely the worse. He did a great job painting himself as the "good guy" in the media, but reality is far from that, he's just as slimy as they come.
I went to a recent fear factory show with the new lineup and after the show they had a signing booth for anyone who purchased merch to get it signed right there by all the band members. Anyways one guy approached Dino with a paper ticket of the concert that day, Dino replied to him to read the sign- that he had to buy merch to get it signed. This guy spends his hard earned money to listen to you, wants his ticket signed and you tell him to spend more money? I almost couldn't believe it but watching this video beforehand essentially proved to me that he was more than likely the problematic one in the band's dissolvement.
Dino will appreciate this. “Our species is the only creative species, and it has only one creative instrument, the individual mind and spirit of man. Nothing was ever created by two men. There are no good collaborations, whether in music, in art, in poetry, in mathematics, in philosophy. Once the miracle of creation has taken place, the group can build and extend it, but the group never invents anything. The preciousness lies in the lonely mind of a man.” ― John Steinbeck, East of Eden
It’s funny because I hear a lot of stories of Dino. More so ppl say he is a jerk or an ass or what not, but the guys I grew up with that know him personally. They always say he is a sweetheart, and just the most amazing friendly guy. I’ve never met him personally. But going on what he said in the interview, I get it. He has a focus on what he wants, and he is the main contributor, he has the vision, ppl will rebel against that. Dude… if I had a chance to jam n play with this guy, ima treat it like my job. Focus and do my boss proud. Ima learn under some amazing mothereffer! Much love to this guy! Maybe I’m wrong, but like I said I go on stories, ppl I know have nothing but great stuff to say about this dude.
I know Burton briefly and he seems like an amazing person from the times I’ve been around him. He’s hugely supportive or artists and I think he wanted to go in a different direction but I have no idea about the fear factory stuff. He has a broad taste a knowledge of music that could have been a part of it
Like Dino or not, facts are facts, Dino has always been the backbone of FF. Even when he wasn't in the band, Christian just copied what Dino was doing, yeah they did a decent album without him by copying his template and guitar playing, not a huge feat. Without FF, Dino makes great music, the two Asesino and Divine Heresy albums are awesome, what are the others doing? Nothing worth mentioning in an honest conversation. He's absolutely right here, some people are leaders and some are followers. Without FF, the others can't do anything worthwhile on their own without leeching to another already succesful band.
I didn’t know about the lawsuits. Genexus lost the plot for me when it was from the POV of the robot. They will always be one of my favorites. I’ll go listen to obsolete now.
People say Genexus was one of their best, to me it's one of their weakest, like Digimortal. The first 3 along with Archetype and Mechanize will always be the go-to albums for me!
Burton was the only consistent part of Fear Factory. When he was done, I was done. I hope it works out for them but he was my main draw to the band since like 95 or so.
Personally, I feel the same way. With all due respect to Dino, of course... but there's a reason why Burton's been named "the heart of the machine". His presence and his vocals have been such a key component of FF... that I just can't imagine FF without him. Not that there isn't just a tiny bit of curiosity regarding his replacement, though... but honestly, I feel Dino is just delaying the inevitable: the end of FF.
@@thrashika Much agreed, Burton was the voice and the soul of Fear Factory! As much as I dig Agression Continuum, the album is so bittersweet, in that the whole experience feels like the band's swan song! I put this band up there with with one of my favorite gaming series: Metal Gear. When the main driving force is removed, then I have no interest in seeing it continue, rather I feel this is the best way for it to conclude! As much as I would like to see the classic lineup bury the hatchet, there is too much vitriol there to even fathom a chance reunion! At least we have the back catalogue to truly appreciate Fear Factory for what it was: a true industrial metal juggernaut, that made its mark in the metal scene that paved the way for many other bands past, and present!
@@metaldiscipline3955 You got that right! :) Dino's the drive and Burton was the heart (let's consider Demanufacture's closing track, "A Therapy For Pain", for example... that one's an assault on the senses and it really hits you in the feels. On the mechanistic inferno that is Demanufacture, it is beautifully melancholic, an emotional gem. And it's definitely one of Burton's finest moments).
Dino seems very hard for anybody to work with, a lot of members have left Fear Factory throughout the years. Burton is a legendary front-man and legend of metal music though.

Meshuggah is one of the most influencial metal bands of all time.

Love Burton's works, particularly in the old hey days, but he wasn't a saint, especially in regards to the lawsuits and bankruptcy case.

how can he say Burton isnt a fighter? he put up with dino's shit for years.
exactly
Arrogance, man. Don’t get me wrong, Dino is one of THE greatest guitarists in metal. Ever.
But it’s no secret that he has had MANY problems with people in his bands throughout the last 30 years.
Burton has always been a little girl when it came to other people, dude has put aside so many of his friends because of his tears.
@@trendmassacre8423 maybe he just needed better friends
@@planetwinnebago4304 Agreed! I've been in the same situation as Burton, much better to be your own man and sail your own ship.
Thank you for all this background information. You worded it quite nicely and smoothly.
FACTS💯💯💯💯
Genexus, demanufacture and digimortal are my favs. I didn’t even know about genexus until about 6 months ago, it is top notch.
personally I loved Genexus (my favourite is still Demanufacture) but like, I don't honestly think there's a "bad" Fear Factory album.

I got my machine gun picking by learning from Dino. He said in an interview with guitar world years ago that you should learn acoustic first because it’s much more difficult to fret and play so that once you go electric, your form is solid. Best advice for metalheads looking to fix their picking technique.
Great tip

Wise man, experienced and humble.
I remember Burt once said, “having a kid makes you change”. That was back around 2005-2008. I think he just wanted to move on into becoming a family man with a normal life. Bobby Hewitt, drummer of Orgy, did the same thing.
Yeah, he was tired of playing the signature FF sound. That is what I heard. He wanted to do more with his other band, Ascension of The Watchers.

Ur right, something seems off, like he's the actual problem. Maybe that's why he's the only one still around and the others got away
did he start suing because they didnt want to do what he wants? so he sued to get full control. never says why the lawsuits happened.
@@furnitureconsortium " I think there's a better chance of the Gallagher brothers making up and reforming Oasis after nearly 15 years of acrimony than I do of a Fear Factory reunion with Dino, Burton, Christian, and Ray."
this aged well
As I recall Dino was out of the band 2002-2010. Comes back takes 100 percent ownership of the FEAR FACTORY name. "I'm a leader"! Yeah right.
Burton, Cazárez and herrera the best line up. Greatness
Christian?
yea missed wolbers too, he contributed wonderful rhythmic grooves
Great interview but man this makes me real sad. Remember seeing them in ‘97 at Ozzfest for the first time at GreatWoods. Saw them many times after and they were always part of the top 3 bands that played at that fest, easy. Already had Soul of a New Machine so I was so god damn pumped to see em and they always delivered 11 fold!
Dino's tone is brilliant and unique.
Fear factory has been and will always be my favorite band . Im 42 and have been clean from heroin since 2004 because of fear factory and the album archetype
Congrats👏
May the soul of your machine keep improving🎶🤘🎵
I saw these guys like 8 times in the late 90's early 2000's, what a fun time and i think i even still have the fear factory hockey jersey from 1 of the house shows. Just a fun band who put on a great show every single time I watched them. I miss these guys and soulfly.
As much as I like Dino as a musician, he still he sh!t talking in a passive way and while it’s rude, I find it hilarious lmao
Fan here, since 1994..Love FF, love Burton, Dino and all forms of the band.
I love Fear Factory I seen them live twice and both shows were hard as fuck. I hope Burton comes back I would 100% go see them again
In metal we have a very unreasonable expectation for bands to be "forever together". Most marriages don't last this long, people inevitably change through the years, gaining interests, losing interests. It's totally normal he's out, but this is also a new chance to change a little bit, to experiment. I wish Dino all the best.
Saw them live, current line up smacks! Can't wait to see them again.
They have been my favorite band since they were still touring for Soul... I could tell 30 years worth of stories of how committed to this band I have been for MOST of my life and it saddens me that after everything I view Dino as the bad guy.
I could never trust a guy like dino my gut tells me he is toxic
They literally kicked him out of the band at one point. He got back in and he made sure that wasn’t going to happen again. Especially as the Fear Factory sound. Suck off.
Think the same
So now we have crossed the #MeToo line so far that we can slander people being "toxic" because "I just feel like this"?
@@raakareiska9804 who's slandering? Dude just said he gets that gut feeling, didn't make any claims, much less accusations, that it's a factual thing. We're allowed to have impressions of people, no? Your reaction is unwarranted.
I'm an INFJ and totally did not get that sense. I think you're projecting something in you into this guy.
GREAT INTERVIEW. HONEST. LOVE FEAR FACTORY. I REMEMBER DISCOVERING THEM WITH THE MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE SOUNDTRACK. MAN, I MISS THE 90S
Haven't met Burton but ive hung with Dino and Milo a couple of times...1 they ripped live..2 they were both very cool and super nice guys...
Wish ppl would lay off on both BCB and Dino. Move along.
thank you Dino and the crew for keeping FF going
I saw ASESINO live in Alantic City years ago. Amazing Rock'n show🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Really good podcast arguably the best.
The first Divine Heresy record was amazing. I would not oppose to a comeback :)
Butt's vocals weren't cutting it anymore.
The last two albums were painfully autotuned.
Best he step back gracefully with his reputation as an innovator intact.
Fear Factory was a huge part of my life growing up. Dino played a giant part of me picking up a guitar.
Dino seems like a genuine and all around great guy! A very open and intelligent man.
Dude just straight up referred to himself as an 'alpha male' so cringe
People love to put the blame on Dino, but anybody who's worked directly with FF in the past knows the kind of person Burton truly is and between the two of them Burt is surely the worse. He did a great job painting himself as the "good guy" in the media, but reality is far from that, he's just as slimy as they come.
Christian himself said ‘Burton is the real snake in that band, you have no idea.’
Wow, I had no idea. Burton was super cool to the fans in Texas.
I did. Dino was a problem.
I just found out. Heart breaking cause I'm going to see them for the first time. That being said I'm cheering for the new singer!
The preciousness lies in the lonely mind of a man.”
― John Steinbeck, East of Eden
I think this is accurate. Dude has a vision and drive. And sometimes that rubs people the wrong way.
I want your shirt Dino. Would be great to hear a new album!
Dino needs to hit the treadmill.. he needs to stay longer to keep us with his music.
Would love to hear Burton version.
BTW, great audio quality, kudos.
I know Burton briefly and he seems like an amazing person from the times I’ve been around him. He’s hugely supportive or artists and I think he wanted to go in a different direction but I have no idea about the fear factory stuff. He has a broad taste a knowledge of music that could have been a part of it
What we need is a new Asesino album
Like Dino or not, facts are facts, Dino has always been the backbone of FF. Even when he wasn't in the band, Christian just copied what Dino was doing, yeah they did a decent album without him by copying his template and guitar playing, not a huge feat. Without FF, Dino makes great music, the two Asesino and Divine Heresy albums are awesome, what are the others doing? Nothing worth mentioning in an honest conversation. He's absolutely right here, some people are leaders and some are followers. Without FF, the others can't do anything worthwhile on their own without leeching to another already succesful band.
Always enjoyed Dino! \m/
The new dude Milo fuckin killed it at Hellfest🤘🏼
Dino's the drive and Burton was the heart (let's consider Demanufacture's closing track, "A Therapy For Pain", for example... that one's an assault on the senses and it really hits you in the feels.
