keeganshigh I’m sorry but no. He’s right. This song is a fuckin sacred gem. No one knows about it to this day. People that know the original have never even heard this cover.
I'm glad this isn't just a cover of a song and actually has Gary Numan in the song and video. It really pays due respect to a great song and great singer.
No joke - since 2010, until recently I thought the guy with black hair was just another member of Fear Factory. So dumb it took me 10 years to realise it was actually Gary Numan haha
This video wouldn't be right without Newman participating. He earned it and deserves respect. One of the best remakes ever. Love the combination of yesterday and today at the end of the video
Damn straight, Hella unique and cool sound to them. (This song isn't the beat example) Not hella edgy And as a Christian man theor songs armt full of them praising sin. (Well here and there there is but most songs dont)
It's crazy what you run across when you start looking up covers to songs you know from the past. I had no idea Fear Factory covered this one...and with the help of Gary Numan's vocals alongside of Bell's! Thanks UA-cam!
Now this is a good remake of a cool 80's song and they even got the original artist to be on it. The guy seems just as strange now as he did in the 80's.
Found out about this song through test drive 6... what a nostalgic song, one of the best covers EVER I miss the times when we had rock songs on the racing games... another reason to play it
A perfect cover. Doesn't deviate far from the original, while sounding original in itself. And featuring the original aritist. Well done Fear Factory 🤘
One of the best videos ever.... I came of age in the 90's - remembered this song in the 80's..... - they were right to honor Gary Newman. Perfect - PERFECT mesh!
Holy Fuck! This is awesome. I'm an old fart and was a big Gary Numan fan back then. This is an amazing cover, and having Gary IN the video is so great.
Looks like he's playing a Roland Jupiter 8 synth. Always loved this cover of the song. So heavy, but so true to the original, and with Gary Numan himself to boot. This music video never gets old.
They are very good yes. However at time of their breakout with being on ozzfest I remember digimortal being released. Which was kind of soso in comparison to obsolete. They just disappeared. Demanufacture and obsolete were the 2 best imo.
"Cars" is a 1979 song by UK artist Gary Numan, and was released as a single from the album The Pleasure Principle. In the UK charts, it reached number 1 in 1979, and in 1980 hit number 1 in Canada two weeks running on the RPM national singles chart and rose to number 9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It debuted on the American Top 40 on 29 March 1980, and spent a total of 17 weeks in the AT40. And that's how old this song really is. Video game?! Ha! Young'uns...
Fear Factory is Freaking cool The most underappreciated cover of all time. FF is such an ace band....never got the mainstream recognition they deserve.
Ive seen 3 people so far that have typed the same exact shit about ace band blah blah blah Edit: ive actually seen more than 10 people copying others comments, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?
It is awesome that Gary Numan participated in the remake of his song
Indeed.
I agree!!!
thomaschavers he loves the band
Craig Nicklin That's pretty awesome!
Gaey numen helped produce obsolete...theres the connection
The most underappreciated cover of all time.
Hyperbolic much? I can think of dozens of covers that get way less play than this and are a lot better.
I think you spelt overrated wrong.
AzCannibalChris yesssir!!!
keeganshigh I’m sorry but no. He’s right. This song is a fuckin sacred gem. No one knows about it to this day. People that know the original have never even heard this cover.
this is something an imbecile would think.
Test Drive 6 no PS1, que nostalgia!
É essa música , e o som que faz quando você seleciona as opções no menu do jogo , que quando você seleciona faz o barulho daquela acelerada :)
Fear Factory, Cirrus, Qburns, Lunatic Calm. Muita trilha sonora monstruosa nesse jogo.
@@darthfelipe6620 Verdade mano, que saudade da infância slc
chega arrepia ouvir essa musica, ainda mais eu que destrui o cdzin de tanto jogar
Facts although i had the Dreamcast version
What makes this really cool is that it does not really deviate from the original song. The guitar makes the song sound a bit raw -but in a good way.
Coincidentally, Numan remade the song a few years later on his album "Hybrid" and it sounded COMPLETELY different to match his new industrial sound.
generatorx second that👍🏾
I usually dont like remix or remake of anything but for this i'd say this is better than the original
Concur. This cover hits the sweet spot in that it sounds enough like the original to be recognizable, but different enough to justify its existence.
I absolutely agree. I loved it. They truly kept the integrity of the song
I'm glad this isn't just a cover of a song and actually has Gary Numan in the song and video. It really pays due respect to a great song and great singer.
FF is such an ace band....never got the mainstream recognition they deserve.
probably for the better but I feel like they deserve more recognition than they got,
They did , but Mr. Bell nose dived it when he agreed with Roadrunner to make the next Album, Digimortal, totally commercial.
I got to party with them in Michigan. Cool guys.
They're my top faves 5 bands up with Metallica and Slayer
They are so underrated...
If you played Test 6 back in the day, then you remember this video was an unlockable.
Terrible game (not in a good way), but i loved the OST, and loved to unlock this video
@@MetallikoHermetiko everything besides the gameplay was great with that game
Wasnt a chunk of the video the opening movie?
It’s 2020 and I’m still listening to the original and this fantastic cover.
Same here
2021 and I'm still listening
I usually dont like remix or remake of anything but for this i'd say this is better than the original
ditto bro
March 2022. Listening in the UK..
This is scientifically one of the best covers of all time.
Gary Numan is the man!! He's such a big influence for so many awesome bands out there!!
He, David Bowie and Yellow Magic Orchestra (but mostly Ryuchi Sakamoto). People who made 80's how we know them now
No joke - since 2010, until recently I thought the guy with black hair was just another member of Fear Factory. So dumb it took me 10 years to realise it was actually Gary Numan haha
@@sandansaiyan5675Japan too
They took the most 80s song, and turned it into the most 00s thing I’ve ever heard. Music video and everything
Test Drive 6. Yes!
good times
Hell yeah!
Amen brother :')
We are getting old, guys! :D
:D
Gary Numan is awesome! much respect for how he loves the Metal scene!
Reminds me of Test drive 6 =]
My original copy of test drive 6 finally died about 3 months ago... I cried.
+Ryan G I still have mine but I can't make it work on win 8.1 :c
+Kingdarkshadow I still have mine on the dream cast and it still works
+amarait2 Dreamcast had the best version. IMO
+amarait2 that game was the shit back in the day. played it all the time
This video wouldn't be right without Newman participating. He earned it and deserves respect. One of the best remakes ever. Love the combination of yesterday and today at the end of the video
*Numan.
@@Hellwyck oops my bad
It’s awesome that Gary is ALWAYS open to participation in his songs.
This song reminds me Test Drive 6 and those cold, rainy days of 2000 - 2005 of my childhood. :')
Me too! 🥹🫶🏻🎮🎶
Fear Factory is criminally underrated band.
Damn straight,
Hella unique and cool sound to them. (This song isn't the beat example)
Not hella edgy
And as a Christian man theor songs armt full of them praising sin.
(Well here and there there is but most songs dont)
"Infinity wars is the most ambitious crossover"
Burton C. Bell: Hold my beer.
Spider Jerusalem nailed it! 100%!
Both versions are amazing.
And they are amazing for different reasons. One is more synth based, and one is full of heaviness and modern effects and it is a duet
I like them both
God, this is one of those songs you get in your head, and it NEVER GETS OUT!!!!
Obsolete remains the greatest metal album and one of the best, period. Classic!
It's crazy what you run across when you start looking up covers to songs you know from the past. I had no idea Fear Factory covered this one...and with the help of Gary Numan's vocals alongside of Bell's! Thanks UA-cam!
This brings back so much nostalgia, windows 98, poor dial up connection, Test Drive 6... Good times.
LOL.
TD6 music was the best as was TD5 with KMFDM.
Now this is a good remake of a cool 80's song and they even got the original artist to be on it. The guy seems just as strange now as he did in the 80's.
Fun fact the song was released in 1979 but the song basically sounds like the 80s.
Gary Numan always been a lil odd...but in a good way 😎🤘
@@alphatoddio That's because Gary Numan has Aspergers

It's amazing how happy this song makes me.
It is rather upbeat isn’t it?
Gary Numan & Fear Factory - Thank you 🎖
This song never gets old
This was the song that made my buy my first FEAR FACTORY album in 1999 and a fan for life!
One of the best videos ever.... I came of age in the 90's - remembered this song in the 80's..... - they were right to honor Gary Newman. Perfect - PERFECT mesh!
When a different genre can cover a song & make it good. That's how you know it's a great song. Whether Pop, Country,Rock or R&B
Totally agree followed Gary for years this was topped by fear factory's brilliant song
This version could bring about world peace if everybody would just listen to it on repeat!
Industrial was popular in the 90s. And it is good stuff. Fear Factory is one of my favorite industrial metal bands.
Test Drive 6 🤘🔥
MJK rocking the synth 😎😅
Thank you Test Drive 6 for this legend.
Holy shit..I was playing this game when I was in 4th grade in elementary school..memories remains..PS1
An amazing track, the king of Electronica and the kings of industrial, what a combination !
2022 and I still watch this video every time I boot up Test Drive 6.
I thought the original was a classic but this version featuring the man himself is on another level. Speechless...
No doubt one of the greatest covers known to man.
Gary Numan=BEYOND EPICNESS
Fear Factory+Gary Numan=ULTRA UBER BEYOND EPICNESS
POV: Its a rainy day in 2000s and ur going to play Test Drive 6 on your PlayStation

Test Drive 6 on PC got me introduced to Fear Factory all these years ago and I was hooked. GG!
Greatest song of all time... Didn't think it was possible for a cover to do it justice. Good job!
I'm just discover this track (or version if you want) and damn - it's still look and sound fresh and good in 2021.
Beer, Weed, Heavy Metal thats all I need
Spent many years with these guys. Absolute pleasure
i listen to Fear Factory for so long, and still can't handle the fact *HOW UNDERRATED THEY ARE*
All I can say is... Self bias resistor
The fact that this cover is on the same album as Edgecrusher is amazing. What a kick ass band.
This video was on heavy rotation on the box in early 2000
The heavy guitars make me like this even more than the original version. It was always a very good song, but Fear Factory made it even better, IMO.
This song aged like fine wine 🤘🎸🍷
It saddens me to know that I'll never be as cool as Gary Numan
The pantheon is only so large.
The thing is about Gary Numan, he's amazing! He's got a pilot's license
Now I know where Elon Musk got his idea for car in space...
even gary numan himself can never be as cool as gary numan
None of us will ever be.
There ain't two many of us left that can appreciate a re mix by some heavy hittin musicians
Takes me back to 99🤘🤘🤘 awesome song 🤘 and it reminds me of 7thr grade when gary put this out in 79!!
Love how the car flew into the sun at the end of the video -
Love this video. It's a perfect callback to the 80s!!
