Ladies, I need more!!! Please!! I love your videos for bigger bodies. This is awesome!
Thank you SO much for including my body type in your videos. I'm 100 lbs overweight and am diligently moving towards better health and a better body, and with your help, I will achieve my goals. :)
I so love the instructor. Great instructions and very respectful to the client
LOVE LOVE LOVE Your channel!! In a world where bigger bodies are seen as un cared for & unhealthy, I so appreciate the fact that you realize that bigger people care as much about their bodies as much as smaller bodied people care about theirs. Keep on posting the bigger bodies videos & I'll keep doing them! #fangirl4life
I love you guys and your videos! Please keep doing more bigger bodies videos!
I've been trying you yoga videos almost every night for the last 10 days and I really like the way you teach. I don't feel terrible if I can't do something and you are really great about giving alternatives and reminding us to not hurt ourselves. This one was a little harder for me, but I enjoyed the challenge. Thank you 😁
Hello Shannon, that's great to hear! I'm glad to know you're enjoying my videos. Keep doing what you're doing - challenge is great so long as it's not so challenging that it causes pain. :) And in case it's helpful to you, I'd like to let you know about my Monthly Practice Calendar that I create for my Yoga with Zelinda group. You can read about it here: www.rryogaroom.com/yoga-with-zelinda Please feel welcome to join if you'd like!
I enjoy your yoga practices, I try to do 20 to 30 minutes a day, but without straining my body too much. Your videos are great, please make more !
I am recovering from major health issues. Being a big guy who used to lift heavy weights to a big guy who is now weak your classes have helped me tremendously!! God bless!
It's so helpful to have the poses not only modified for a bigger body but to have a person with a bigger body demonstrate. I so appreciate your yoga for bigger bodies!!!!
I absolutely LOVE your Yoga for Bigger Bodies videos! I’ve been using them daily during quarantine and y’all have been a godsend. Please keep it up!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate you including bigger bodies in your videos. I'm 100 lbs overweight but am trying to still be active and fit. I'm so glad to find a non-aerobic work out. :-)
Love this video and it's nice to see ALL body types doing yoga! Thank you and please keep the videos coming!
These have been the best yoga videos for my body type. I look forward to getting up in the morning and waking my body up with "The Yoga Room." I do not have the aches and pains I was having before and feeling less fatigue throughout my day. Thank you for these videos, I recommend this channel to all of my friends.
been doing these series for bigger bodies and they are amazing. today i tried this one for the first time and it was hard but so worth it!
Thank you for doing a beginner video, I am so out of shape and 68 years old, I was excited to find something I could do 💓
I'm 65 and can totally relate to you
I love your videos! Thank you so much for helping bigger bodies like mine. I am motivated everyday to do yoga because of you.
I enjoy these videos and do them almost daily. I wish there was pretty zen music in the background, though. The quiet and echoing makes me anxious.
I love this series. Once we see the instructions, it would be great to have a shorter version. I'm trying to do this on my 30 minute lunch break and a shorter version with less commentary would be perfect.
I wish that too
I agree -I need the explanation a few times but would like a less detailed version available too-, otherwise I love the series which I only found yesterday
Thanks for these bigger body videos. First time I've ever been able to do yoga!
I am loving these workouts! Thank you so much for your videos for bigger bodies. I do have a couple of recommendations. One would be a longer (maybe 45-60 minutes) and another would be a workout working on balance. Thank you so much!
I just started working out in sept 2019 after I had a pulmonary embolism in august. I realized I've got to get healthier and at a healthier weight. Yoga was always hard bc I'm bigger so I can't thank you enough for making these videos for bigger bodies it makes me feel that I can actually do yoga now and eventually get better. please make more videos I greatly appreciate them. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for your videos they have been a godsend in lockdown and I have recommended them to many of my friends. I have been doing them almost daily and really feel so much better afterwards mentally and physically.
I love your calm, non-judgemental, inclusive approach and look forward to more in the future.😊
Thanks, @Beth Parker! I'm glad you found us and our videos are working well for you! :) - Zelinda
I just found your videos and love them. I only just started yesterday. It has been a while since I have practiced any yoga. I so love how you move slowly and thoroughly explain the movements. Perfect for a beginner like myself. Day 2 and feeling good. My hip pain from some other exercises I had been doing is feeling some relief. I will continue and have subscribed.
Welcome, Bernie! 🙂
I didn’t think toga was something I could do! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Hi @Hannah M! You're welcome! We believe every body can do yoga; it's just a matter of finding the right practice. Glad you found this and it works for you! :) - Zelinda
Ladies, you have made my life so much better! Never in my life before I've looked forward to starting my day with some physical activity the way I do it now at home with your videos!
I would love to participate in one of your live series if you open them again! Thanks from Holland!
Hi Marisol, I'm so happy to hear that. I do teach a live Yoga for Bigger Bodies class on Wednesdays at 10:30 CST/GMT-5. You can find more information here: www.rryogaroom.com/yogaforbiggerbodiesonline
Thank you for these videos. Through the years I’ve always been at the beginner phase of yoga. In the most recent years, a lack of motivation to exercise, desk job and sedentary lifestyle I’ve become more tight and stiff. That coupled with being a bigger person has made it challenging to follow along with other videos. I’m happy to have come across your videos. I’d appreciate seeing a video that helps with tight hips and hamstrings. Also I did not see a link as mentioned, for equipment such as blocks to help with the practice.
thank you so much for your videos. I always thought yoga isn't for me, this proved me wrong.
Thank you for making a TRUE beginner yoga series. So many say they are for beginners, but it is still hard, as a bigger girl, to bend, balance, or do many poses. I know it is about doing the best you can and breath work, but it is discouraging and I usually quit and do something else. But your practicd is paced very well and your instructions are great. My only request is maybe a little soft yoga music in the back. Nothing loud or overpowering your instructions, but a little something. Many relate the music to the practice as well. Thank you.
Your comment about "Do no harm" is so relevent to me. I was previously trying to do yoga regularly, but having trouble managing consistency. So when I was watching an old Joe Rogan podcast a couple days ago, and he had a guest who said that consistency is more important than intensity, it struck a chord. He said you should push yourself around 70% every single day, avoiding muscle soreness and over training, because increasing your consistency means more "gains" in the long run. It really hit home because that's the opposite of what I had been doing. I'd work out so hard and be sore for days afterward. Now I sprained my ankle shortly after my mom passed away last year, and I've taken some time off of working out. Coming back into it, Yoga for Bigger Bodies is perfect for me. I'm pretty flexible still, but I needed something extra gentle just to get back into the flow of it. Thank you for these videos!
I love this bigger bodies series and do them all on rotation. Thank you so much. I look forward to more in the series if you are able to make them.
These videos are wonderful! I can't wait until you post again! Thank you so much!
We need more with Denise. She definitely gives me motivation that I can do this!!!! -Britt
Coming up soon! :)
Thank you so much for this! I realize this was a year ago, but I'm on a weightloss journey and the days I don't walk, I love to do yoga! You're teachings help me to not over do or strain my body. Again, thank you!
I am following your classes from Costa Rica and they have been my salvation during the pandemic. You are an excellent teacher who gives clear directions and includes modifications as well. Your voice is soothing and the pace is perfect. When our house here sells, we will move back to MI, but I told my husband that maybe we should move to TX so I can take classes with you in person!
Hi Kathryn, that is so sweet. :) We travel around quite a bit in our RV. I'll let you know if we come to MI! In the meantime, have you already found my October Practice Calendar? I really like this series. The gentleness for bigger bodies is much appreciated, but it was the chill, calm voice of the instructor that really struck me.
Yes yes yes! I found your other videos for all body types and bookmarked them. I'm happy that you did another! If you keep filming, I'll keep practicing with you!
I Love your channel so much! I’m a newbie and found `Gentle yoga for bigger bodies’ which I’ve been doing for a little while... my goal is to practice daily because it does feel so good! - and eventually progress to the higher levels. Thank you so much!!! ♥️🧘🏻♀️
Hi Rosette! Since your goal is to practice daily, I wanted to let you know that we're currently doing a 21 Day Yoga Challenge here on our channel. Classes are offered live at 6 a.m. CST (GMT-5) and the recordings are available on our Bigger Bodies and Livestreams playlists. Please let me know if you have any questions! :)
This was a wonderful reintroduction to yoga after a decade away. They’ve provided a great practice for anyone with moderate physical limitations.
Thanks, @Mary Lovejoy! Glad you found us. :) - Zelinda
I found this video along with another one. I’ve been doing it daily for the past week or so and I love it. I really like yoga and this feels way more accessible!
Just find your page and it gives me hope that yoga is for all body types. Please continue to make more for bigger bodies!
Excited to find these videos on UA-cam. New to yoga and really liking your videos. It’s nice to see different body types are doing yoga. Keep the videos coming. A sincere thank you from someone who isn’t twiggy :)
Your yoga are the best
I really appreciate your hard work
Thanks for providing us easy exercise
I love everything about your videos... the body representation, the commentary, offering different ways to make ourselves more comfortable or conversely to challenge ourselves. I am new to yoga and these videos are by far the best I have found! Thank you :)
Hi Sarah, thank you! I don't know why I'm just seeing your comment now, two years later! I'm so glad you've enjoyed my videos. :)
Finally! I can Yoga! Thank You.
Another excellent video! And I enjoyed working on my strength flexibility and breathing alongside Denise. Thank you!
Hello me4word, I'm glad you liked it! Denisse and I are planning to record a new video next week. Stay tuned. :)
Thank you so much for this series! I have gained confidence and flexibility doing these practices!!!!
I love your video's!! This one is by far our favorite!
Love this new video!! Keep them coming:) Thank you
absolutely love these videos! Been doing yoga since the start of lockdown in the UK and I'm finding it helps a lot!
I was so excited to stumble on these videos and even more psyched when I saw Denise. I've tried yoga videos in the past that just didn't work for me because I am fat. It was heartening to see someone with my body type being flexible and awesome. In the future I would love to see a video focusing on yoga for backpain for people with bigger bodies.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! I am happy you are here!
I’m working on improving my exercising habits & yours is such a comfortable, gentle way to start.. would be awesome to see more added to this section
Would love to find a teacher like you. In Belgium, I have not found a teacher able to give a practice that would suit bigger bodies. So thanks for sharing your videos
Hello @Ode Gasheru, I'm glad you're here and you're welcome to practice with me as long as you'd like! If you're interested in going back to in-person classes at some point, I think you'll find that as you continue practicing with me, you'll become an expert at customizing the yoga practice to suit your unique body. Then you'll be able to take your knowledge and experience to any public yoga class and make your own adjustments. And your teacher, if they are open-minded, will begin to learn from you. :) In the meantime, please allow me to share my monthly practice calendar with you: www.rryogaroom.com/youtube-practice-calendar I welcome any questions you might have along the way.
Thanks so much for the new video , more please. Because of your video I will start a yoga class this week, Wish it was with you.
I've tried SO MANY yoga videos and this is the best one yet. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hello Ana Pau, you're most welcome! I've got a whole lot of videos on my channel. Since you like this strengthening one, I would suggest these:

Thank you SO much for these videos! I’m currently 24st and I really wanted exercises to help reduce excess skin as I lose weight as well as ones that aren’t going to break me 😅 This strength one is literally perfect! The downward dog push-ups got me a bit, but I’ll keep on it and maybe get one of those wedges 😁 I know you did a few core exercises in this one, but I’d absolutely adore a core routine for bigger bodies if you’re still going! Thank you again ❤️
Dear Madam, Namaste..! Thank u so much for these yoga poses which are really helping over weight people like me. Also plz convey appreciation to your student, who I am sure is inspiring many more people to practice.
youre inspirational and amazing denise. and zalinda youre very calm and peaceful. wonderful videos.the best ive found on youtube
I love these videos.....please keep them coming!
I love your series and I'm grateful that someone has decided to cater to larger bodies in this practice!!!
May I request and suggest that you do a series that is geared more toward Vinyasa Root Yoga where there is slow music in background, focusing on deep breathing and very gentle long posing? Also, it would be great to see a series geared toward women for balancing hormones, menopause, menstruating and increasing fertility. Thank you so much for all that you do! Namaste :-)
Thanks @Universal Empress! More videos coming soon! :) - Zelinda
I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the level of instruction that is given, along with the variations for different bodies. I would love to see more videos - beginners and moderate, strengthening, stretching, restorative, flows etc. I’m new to yoga and trying to find the style that is right for me and would appreciate having a variety of options to choose from. Thank you!

Beautiful, strong, women! Thank you for showing how every body can become stronger and more flexible. :)
Thank you so much for the tip about a wedge to support the wrists - I've been struggling on hands and knees because my wrists just don't want to bend that way (yet, I hope!) and the change in angle really helps.
Hello Itinerant Vae, you're most welcome! You might also like this video I did about how to modify downward facing dog if you have achy wrists: ua-cam.com/video/jBe-IsF1C-0/v-deo.html :)
What a great class
Your videos have helped me immensely. I have being other yoga classes but always find myself not being able to do the class properly as I have joint and back problems. I have done three days with you and already am feeling the rewards. Could you do a class to strengthen knees wrists and ankles. Mine are so terribly week and find it hard to weight bear. I have back problems so doing your classes are helping me strengthen my back. Thank you ❤️🙏

I love your videos, most the ones for bigger bodies but also for stress and pain in the back! Here in Sweden we do not need to stay home so much as in other countries but I have decided to do that because I am one of those who risks to get very sick if I get Covid-19. So I started with training and yoga at home and your videos really help me! I just wanted to say that, I will try to join your yoga classes in Zoom also! I wish you all the best! Thank you!
Hello Nea, I hope you're doing well! I wanted to let you know that we're currently doing a 21 Day Yoga Challenge here on our channel. Perhaps you know already. Classes are offered live at 6 a.m. CST (GMT-5) and the recordings are available on our Bigger Bodies and Livestreams playlists. :)
I enjoy your videos! I have lower back pain, hoping this helps with stronger back muscles and overall flexibility 😊.
Hi there. I'm loving your videos and I feel great. Will you be doing an advanced class for bigger bodies? I've been doing the moderate for a few weeks now and feel I could stretch myself more. Many thanks. Sophie (UK)
Thank you so much for this. I am a bigger body and this so so good. It has been a blessing in this Covid time.
You're most welcome! Happy to help. :)
I love the blanket under the knees. Regular yoga always hurt too much. I'm getting super sweaty hands doing the downward dog, but I think that might have to do with my cheapo mat. Going to look for a new one as well as a block.
Thank you.... this is help me a lot to exercise and stretch my body
Great Figure 4 option with the block! I often strain my neck holding my knee in that pose, and this corrects for that. Love your bigger body vids. How about a sequence to focus on increased flexibility?
Thankyou for this video sending you love from New Zealand
This is so perfect for me, I’m very new to yoga and want to increase flexibility and strengthen up, so I feel this is made for me! It’s wonderful to see a lady like me doing this, I feel motivated and inspired, thank you! Xx
Hello Cheryl, welcome to my channel! I'm glad you enjoyed this video. Consistent yoga practice can definitely help you improve your flexibility and strength.

I just found this...love it!
Love the bigger bodies yoga! It’s one of my favorite ways to workout! I would love to see some fertility yoga from y’all because I love your style!
Please post more strenuous yoga routines for bigger bodies!!

Thanks for these videos!!
This is awesome
I am loving your videos and I can do most of the poses. I have issues with downward facing dog due to an injury to the nerves and tendons in the right foot. I was injured in the military and there is no fix for this. I would like to improve my upper body and core but this exercise is beyond me. Are there any modifications I could make? Any excess stress on the foot often leads to stress fractures and braces are not a possibility as any pressure in the arch is not tolerable. Thank you for helping make this quarantine more bearable.
Hi @Karen Gavigan, thank you for your question! Since you are interested in improving strength in your upper body and core, but are unable to bear weight on your feet as in downward facing dog, I would suggest planks while keeping your knees down and your feet relaxed. From this modified plank position, you can work on many things:
1. holding the position, either on your hands or on your forearms
2. slightly lowering and raising your body by bending your elbows alongside (close to) your body
3. side planks (one hand down on the floor, the other either alongside your body or up toward the ceiling)
You can also work on core strengthening postures that do not require weight bearing on the hands:
1. Lying face down - cobra pose and locust pose and variations
2. Lying face up - leg lifts with knees bent or straight, one leg at a time or both legs at once, depending on how much intensity you'd like.
{please make sure you breathe smoothly in all of these postures}
Thank you again for this great question - many people ask me what to do if down dog doesn't work for them, so next time I do a UA-cam Live video I will do a demo to explain all of these options in better detail. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
Zelinda
Wonderful! Love these for bigger bodies and the calm instructive nature of your teaching. Can you tell me how to get the video of level two for plantar fasciitis?
Hi Joanne, Thank you so much! We actually haven't recorded the Part 2 yet! Life got in the way. I'll put it on my list of videos to record soon. - Zelinda
Hello Zelinda, Will you be doing a video for core and ab strengthening? I have a bigger body and my belly needs work.
I appreciate these videos ladies. Easy to follow along and y'all both seem sweet as sugar. These videos are Wonderful starters.
Hello JoLisa, I'm glad you're enjoying them! Please feel welcome to practice along with my monthly practice calendar. You can find it here: www.rryogaroom.com/youtube-practice-calendar Let me know if you have any questions along the way. :)

You are most welcome!
Hey hey first of all: Thaaaank you so much for these videos. I started with gentle yoga for bigger bodies, switched to moderate yoga after some days and now starting this one. I was wondering if you plan to make more of these yoga videos even though it has been a year since you uploaded this one.
Namaste from Germany :)
Hello JollyLadki, thank you for supporting my channel! It has been a long time since I've been able to do a Bigger Bodies video with my friend Denisse, but please know that all my videos are appropriate and beneficial for people with all kinds of bodies. You might like to practice with my monthly practice calendar, which you can find here: www.rryogaroom.com/youtube-practice-calendar. And I usually upload a new video every Friday. :) Zelinda
@@yogawithzelinda Thank you for your reply! Surely I'll try all your other videos as well :)
Just saw your chair yoga video which will be my rescue at work haha
Really enjoying the videos for bigger bodies. Enabled me to start yoga during lockdown which i have found hugely beneficial. Really tired yesterday and I thought I'd seen a restorative (?) practice but couldnt find it. Is there one?
Hi Carol, is this the one you had in mind? ua-cam.com/video/mr9BBk-lYiQ/v-deo.html
I really love this video and the care and consideration shown in it for bigger bodies. I especially love the maneuver at 11:00. Is there a name or more information about this particular posture/movement?
Hello Isyeldar, I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying this video. The posture at 11:00 is called parśva uttanasana in Sanskrit. This translates as side/asymmetrical forward fold. Sometimes it's called pyramid pose in English. This posture is great for strengthening the lower body and abs, but it is very intense and should be adjusted to the student's capacity. It's also great for stretching the legs, but I would say that the most important thing is to stay within the capacity of your strength. Let that be the priority. The flexibility will follow naturally. :)
So pleased I came across these videos! Since having my little boy a couple of years ago I have had problems with my piriformis and I find that by doing yoga it’s helping. I find it very painful lying on my back as the base of my back feels bruised so lifting my legs for certain yoga poses is tricky. Any suggestions? Keep up the good work!
Hi Rachel, welcome to my channel! I'm a big proponent of following the concept of ahimsa (kindness toward the body) in the yoga practice. If lying postures are very painful, I would suggest skipping those or adjusting them so they're more comfortable. You might consider lying on a folded blanket for extra padding, or you might skip these poses entirely for right now.
If you're interested in a customized yoga practice, I'd be happy to work with you. You can find my yoga therapy page here: www.rryogaroom.com/online-yoga-therapy Please let me know if you have any questions. :)
Hi there, I have just found these video and have complete the gentle yoga for bigger bodies last night and tbis morning. I suffer anxiety and TMJ with a lot of tightness in my neck and shoulders so I feel the workouts will really benefit me
I WOULD like to also incorporate the strengthening sequence. Can you advice ow often to to each video??
Hello Debbie! You can do any of these practices daily if you'd like. :)
Hola Zelinda! Thank you very much for your videos. I’m re starting with yoga and I’m struggling with downward facing dog positions. Do you have any recommendations or should I just keep trying until I achieve it? Namaste ❤
Thanks so much, so nice to explore downward dog and plank in a way that was possible for me!
In other videos this has made me feel awful so this is so extremely helpful!
Would you say that the other videos on your UA-cam channel are accessible for people with bigger bodies? (Eg. Do you still suggest similar modifications?)
Hello Ruth! I'm glad you enjoyed this video! Yes, all the videos on my channel are very accessible to people with all kinds of bodies. Since you like this Strengthening video, you might like:

Hi, I’m an overweight 56 year old trying out yoga for the first time. I have trouble with flexibility, a lot! If I keep trying the poses will flexibility come? I am nowhere near where your model is in flexibility! Thank you!
Suzanne Archer yes, flexibility can definitely improve, even within a couple of weeks of consistent yoga practice. Some people are naturally flexible, like Denisse in our video. As you proceed in your practice, pay attention to the sensations in your body. Notice how each posture feels from one practice to the next. The postures will start too feel easier and your range of motion will begin to increase. Please do keep us posted! 🙂
Thank you for this video. Do you have any suggestions for strengthening wrists and elbows? I find some of the body weight exercises almost impossible do to weak wrists and being quite heavy. Also do you have any beginner videos that include back extension? I find so many beginner video are flexion heavy and light on extension. Today is my 8th day in a row doing yoga using your videos :)
Hello Miss B! You'll want to work on slowly increasing strength. You might try doing things like planks at the wall (hands on the wall) so that you're bearing only a little weight on your hands at first. I also spoke about what do about painful hands/wrists in a UA-cam Live on Saturday. This will take you right to that part: ua-cam.com/video/OoA1x8CxU9o/v-deo.html
We will be publishing an Online Beginners Series hopefully tomorrow. :)
Thank you for these series of vids. I've been off putting trying yoga for a while because, yes I'm over weight (even though I'm active as I do mountain biking) but I'm hypermobille and struggle with pain in my joints. So thank you so much for the alternative ways of doing the poses, are there any other moves which could help with conditions such as Hypermobility ect? Take care
Hi Dee, I'm glad you found us! For hypermobility, basic guidance is to make sure not to stretch to your maximum capacity. Focus instead on strengthening to create more stability in your joints. For example, If you're doing a Warrior pose, focus more on engaging the muscles in your legs, abs, back, and arms, to create a strong a stable pose, rather than doing a low, deep lunge with a big arch in your back. It's counterintuitive for many of us yogis who are hypermobile to do "less", but it is what is needed. I'll elaborate on this next time I do a UA-cam Live video. If you'd like to be present for that, please be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell so you can be notified of our announcements and videos. :)
@@yogawithzelinda fab thank you and I have subscribed 😊 yeah, I've not overly stretched in some poses as my knees are the worst for resting on. Last time I had sports massage, apparently my lymphnodes are blocked in my legs, my hips and lower back are seized so I need to try and release those but stabilise me knees. Basically, I'm good for the scrapheap! 🤣
Thank you all so much for these great videos. I am so appreciative. I have a question about downward dog and shifting back and forth into that pose and similar--my toes have arthritis and it's pretty painful to "tuck them under" because of the weight bearing bend. I find myself sort of stepping into place. Is there a better way to modify? Thanks in advance!!! Again, my sincere appreciation.
I always thought yoga can only be a challenge for my body type but after the above video, it never felt so easy. I just have one doubt when on my knees and hands I am unable to left my body weight on my palm, it would be great if you could suggest any arm strengthening exercises for the same
