Fabulous. I've found most of the vids that are for 'beginners' actually are for retired Olympic gymnasts who may never have done yoga. That's not me. I've lost all my flexibility and gained weight, but this was actually useful!! More please.

@Yoster Schnauss Exactly! Are they insane? I think they've forgotten what it's like to be a beginner. When I taught aerobics (because I wasn't always old, fat and inflexible) we used to show different versions, to cater to different stages of fitness and ability.

I found this video after sobbing on my yoga mat because I couldn't do the second pose in a 'easy beginners' yoga video. I'm so excited to see a video I'm confident I'll be able to do but will still get some movement and training in. Thank you!

THANK YOU! As an fat, inflexible, middle-aged woman with poor balance, I had always assumed yoga just wasn't for me, but knee pain forced me to look for an alternative to walking as my main form of exercise. I found some yoga instruction geared towards larger people, some geared toward inflexible people, and some geared towards beginners, what what about the fat, inflexible beginner?? What I found was so intimidating. Once I couldn't even do the very first pose in a video and was nearly in tears. Once I looked through the photos of several practices in a manual and immediately shut the book and put it into the trash, knowing I'd never be able to do it. But then I found this video, and finally, I have a doable practice! I love it, and I feel so unbelievably good both on and off the mat--happier, calmer, more focused, more energetic, less pain. I had no idea yoga was so awesome or I would've started doing it ages ago!

So important for us curvy yoga teachers to be visible, to be heard and to connect. Tired of seeing classes and studios with the token gesture of 'accessibility' - we need more teachers who are diverse, all cultures, shapes, sizes, ages - every corner of our communities! Peachy xxx

Hooray! Wife and I been doing stretches/yoga exercises a little bit recently. All the things that usually come up searching "yoga for beginners" or something like that are super-thin women going from pose to pose way to fast to understand all of what she's saying while her super flexy & thin body contorts into unnatural- looking positions. Bravo for the coach & especially also to Deniece!
I need more videos like this one!

Thank you so much. I've found so few teachers know how to modify poses or provide variations for bigger bodies. It's really sad because it never occurs to a lot of teachers how hard certain asanas are for bigger people and a lot of people have felt shut out of yoga because of it.

My fascia has been so tight for so long. Add this to being 100+ pounds overweight and traditional "easy" yoga was just not working. I am SO thankful for you two and that you took the time to put out a video that truly is calming and beneficial when it comes to stretching as a bigger bodied person! I felt it working, but didn't feel stress physically and more importantly emotionally while doing this video. Denisse!!!! You are amazing! :)

Oh good lord, I cannot thank y'all enough for this. While I'm not completely new to yoga, I'm definitely part of the big body brigade and it's nice to have a series that's cognizant of us folks with big thighs, stomachs, arms, you name it. Can't tell you how often I've had to give up on a video for "beginners" that assumes a certain level of flexibility and doesn't even offer modifications. Still feels weird having to search for plus sized yoga as a guy, but I feel much more at peace than weird after a practice that gets ME, instead of having to get the practice. Namaste 🙏🏾

This is an excellent introduction to yoga. Most of the yoga video and classes I have seen out there didn’t seem like it could be for me as they are often represented by extremely skinny and very flexible people. I have had a knee surgery recently and I am overweight, and I didn’t think yoga could be for me but your video changed my mind. I see that there is a series and I will be using them as I get better at this. Thank you so much for putting this out there in this way, you have no idea how much you’ve helped so many people.

My mom is obese and it's caused her to avoid mirrors, and pictures as well as having a focus on thinner bodies, something she feels she will never be able to achieve. I love her so much and to see one of the most beautiful people I know feel this way breaks my heart. So she asked me awhile back to help her do some excersises that are fairly easy for her and easy on her legs as she has trouble waking, which she still tries to do even though it hurts. I think if she attempts to do this and eventually complete it (because I know it'll take her some time) but there is no doubt in her mind that her mental state will improve along with her physical state. I truly can not express into words how much this means to me for there to be a video like this and that you think of all bodies and levels of skill

This is the first yoga video in such a long time (if ever) that I didn't have to pause because they were moving to fast between poses or skip any poses because I didn't know how to modify them to my needs. Thank you! I did yoga 50 years ago and 30 pounds lighter. I remember how good I felt. Decided to try a “simple, beginner’s” video and had to stop almost immediately. My fat got in the way, my muscles went into shock, and I just laid down watching the video and laughing. Well crying a little. I thought I can’t be the only out of shape overweight person who wants to do yoga. Searched “yoga for fat people” and found this. Wow! Thank you. It’s doable! THANK YOU for creating a video that is sensitive and encouraging to those of us who have not always found joy in other yoga practices. This was (literally) a breath of fresh air. Since being diagnosed with Lyme disease, I have not only put on weight that has limited my mobility, but muscle and joint pain and fatigue have also made many types of previously easy physical movement seem more daunting than ever. This was the perfect pace for me and left me feeling the type of calm energy my friends all describe about their yoga practices that I had sadly not been experiencing. Thank you so much for crafting this sequence and your loving, non-demeaning or patronizing guidance!

Hi Jennifer! I'm glad you found our video helpful. An important philosophy of my teaching is the concept of ahimsa; the yoga practice should not cause even subtle harm. You're right to find a yoga practice that does not cause you pain while you're healing. If it's helpful, you can even choose to do some of these asanas with limited or no arm movement. Then as your injury heals you can start adding in more are movement. See what feels right for you. All the best, Zelinda

Thank god for Zalinda! I went to a beginners yoga class and cried when it was over. It was horrible! Yoga shouldn’t be so intimating and competitive. I love Zalinda’s calm voice and pace. It felt so good to be able to do this at home without judgment. Thank you so much for sharing these videos for the true beginners!

I am SO happy to have stumbled across this!! I am new on my fitness journey and really want to get into yoga, but even "beginner" videos are super hard for me because my body is in its own way. I commented on another video just the other day about how I couldn't get into the first position because my belly was in the way and I wasn't sure how to modify. Thank you for this!! I can't wait to get going!

Hi Niki, I'm glad you found us! I'm currently doing a 21 Day Yoga Challenge (today was Day 6) that you might be interested in. Classes are offered live at 6:00 a.m. CST (GMT-5), and of course they're recorded (you can find them on our Livestreams playlist) so you can practice at another time if you prefer. In this Challenge I offer lots of options and variations so that people with all kinds of bodies can participate and benefit. :)

Finally someone who can help a older heavy person, I love how you instruct while they are doing, so you don’t have to sit there and listen then work thru it. This is by far the best instruction of anyone doing beginner yoga. Can’t wait to watch more of your videos

I've been trying a lot of beginner yoga videos, but many of them go right into balancing acts and just poses that I struggle with and fall from all the time. They say it's okay, just get back up and try again, but II began to feel like I was to chubby to do yoga. It was beginning to get really frustrating, but I'm really happy you made this video because it helped me get some confidence back by giving me a starting point and feeling accomplished when I could complete a pose and feel it successfully.

I am so grateful for this! Many years ago (like 25 yrs.) I was very into yoga, pilates, and kickboxing. I also walked a few miles almost daily...but particularly yoga spoke to me in a special way. I went through a very difficult time (many losses) and then developed osteoarthritis in both knees, sciatica, and degenerative disc. I m now 60 and trying to gain flexability and strength and lose about 100lbs!
I wanted to get back into yoga more than anything! For me it was a total body, spirit and mind connection and I missed it. Looking around for a practice, I could find nothing that looked like it was made for someone like me.
You have given me back something so important to me! I can not thank you enough! I can achieve my goals if I have yoga and meditation supporting me!
