Chair Yoga Stretch & Strength // Seated Exercises for Seniors & Beginners

- This delightful seated workout incorporates both yoga to improve mobility and flexibility as well as the use of one hand weight to improve strength and build bone mass.
30 minute chair yoga will leave you feeling great, both relaxed and energized throughout your entire body.
I'm using one 3 pound dumbbell for this workout. You can always use a lighter weight or water bottle, or a can to offer some resistance. Please go at your own pace and if you are unsure of what weight to use please start lighter.

Another great workout from Lauren, mixing stretching with a bit of strengthening, it was the perfect mix and the exact amount of time to do after work or in the evening. The explanations, the moves, the tips, the nice smile, everything is sooo good and motivating. It's big quality work that helps me staying fit instead of lying around in front of the TV. Hello, Lauren. I wanted to share with you how life changing this is. I was working out daily with you, and then I was put on two medications that caused me to gain over 110 pounds. With that and moving across the country I think I just lost hope, so I stopped working out. I am back to exercising, and eating healthy in our new home and off the medications. I just started but I have to tell you I love how this is making me feel. I do the 15 min no excuses work out and this one as well daily. You are so encouraging and I love the modifications so I can still gain benefit and still have something to shoot for. Thank you for the hope you give through these videos.

I found this video after searching Google for a free yoga chair workout for older people and every single one wanted between 25.00 and 35.00 a month. Some wanted more. So I decided to search UA-cam and this was the first one I clicked on. I can’t thank you enough for providing this service free. The workout is easy enough for an older person, but not so easy that I couldn’t feel the burn. You are an amazing person for doing these videos, especially with the way the economy is now. I just wanted you to know you’re appreciated. Also, I subscribed and turned on all notifications. I gonna refer you to my peers. They’ll love it.

Oh my ! I believe I have finally found the moves I need to get flexible and strong again. at 75 years and a few lower body injuries, I had pretty much stopped most activities. I love that you have quiet music and a quiet voice, I love that you don't' fill the whole time with talk. the side views are very helpful. I look forward to continuing and improving my posture, strength, breathing, balancing and bending. I would love to be strong and aware of the muscle pathways and strength that are required to get me able to stand from a floor position again. I will let you know how its' going ! I want to be able and safe. Thank you so much for not neglecting those of us who are not so young and frisky any more. I appreciate that you are genuinely concerned for your viewers and participants.

Good to know! I'm going to introduce my grandma to yoga and Pilates because she wants to get active again, but can't do anything high impact. Seeing other people around her age and ability levels do these workouts and benefit from them helps me gauge which ones will be good to do with her now and which ones I should save for when she gains some strength and mobility.

I’ve recently been very poorly with a 9 day spell in hospital. I’m not strong enough to do the routines of yours that I usually do but then found the chair exercises. Another great workout - its so good to be able to mix it up and yesterday I did cardio kickboxing! The fact that I can do barre, pilates, yoga etc whichever takes my mood, all in one place, is wonderful - thank you Lauren xx (from over 60 year old, not fragile nor wimpy!)

Love everything. My PT has recommended treadmill on the incline. Sometimes that gets boring. So I do a Senior Shape workout. Not boring in the least. Lots to chose from. And I feel amazing afterward!!!

Hi Lauren. Thanks for another wonderful chair yoga workout! Before watching the video, I did 40 squats and a set of rotator cuff exercises with my 3# weights. Needless to say, my quads are singing now- in a good way(!) and my shoulder muscles feel great. Your workouts are so appreciated.

I've been doing your chair yoga for the past two weeks, and lovin' it, and I noticed that I haven't had as much acid reflux attacks that I'd been having EVERY DAY, since 2018! Could this be true? Is it because of the breathing in the nose and out of the mouth that is doing it? Whatever it is, I'm so grateful. A million times...THANK YOU!

I have been sick for the past three years, in and out of the hospital and physical therapy. My son suggested chair yoga videos for a way to gain my strength back and for the positive effects of yoga on autoimmune disorders. I have found your videos to be my favorites among all the other chair yoga routines because of your pleasant nature and your empathy for those of us who can’t do all the moves. Having back issues, I have been searching for gentle ways to build better strength without aggravating everything...I finally found it!! After about a week I'm already noticing less pain, improved strength and posture. I'm looking forward to trying more of your videos. Thank you!!

Thanks for being here, as the program is my wake-up call. I mirror the program with two 2-lb. weights, often standing in the beginning, as the variation adds variety. I've incorporated "Goblet" squats - what difference now in my ability to squat!

This was a great combo of stretching, strength and flexibility. I have neck & back issues, i.e. spinal stenosis & osteoarthritis and this is just right for me. Thank you Lauren for this calming, relaxing but strengthening workout. Great combo!!

As someone who has had multiple injuries from a dangerous profession, I keep coming back to this particular workout again and again. Do I work up a sweat and get my heart rate elevated? No, but I get my muscles warmed up and stretched in ways I’ve never even considered. I’m telling everyone who will listen about your workouts. Thanks again on behalf of the “silver” citizens. 😘

Combined this 30 minute walk program with the 10 minute standing stretch. Worked really well. Thank you! Made it through the adult skating number at our club skate show at the age of 70! Of course they are planning to have me back next year. So really need to stay in shape!

I started your seniors chair exercises four weeks post major foot surgery in October. I have now worked through as many of your chair sessions that I could find, exercising with you every morning. Have upped my weights to 2kg. In April I will be 82, celebrating life the fitness I have been able to re-build and my pleasure in feeling 'my old fit self' as it were.
