I made over a cheap fountain from Temu using really basic materials. I used special hobby materials to remake a Unique Miniatures fountain.
Learn a FREE substitute for resin, as well as an easy, cheap technique to create the look of running water. The running water effect could be used for your mini faucet, bath tub, birdbath, or whatever else you can think of.
I also show an easy, layered paint technique for creating the look of aged stone or concrete.
Miter Shears- this pair is highly rated and has replaceable blades
    amzn.to/3LchlUy
Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.
    amzn.to/3YBAIcH
Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine
    amzn.to/3ZZ5wWe
    Dimensional Magic from Mod Podge
    amzn.to/3Ynun4C
I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, dioramas, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

Both turned out fantastic! I love how you show us that amazing minis can be made from humble materials. Anyone can make minis, regardless of their budget. This is a wonderful realization. Last night I sat down with my jewelry supplies, some fake foliage, and other cheapie stuff and started creating and I was able to make lots of cute things that to my delight did NOT look like worthless junk at all! Yet the supplies cost very little. I had so much fun doing it. This is DEFINITELY the hobby for me, and I appreciate you for all you've taught me but also for the confidence boost. ❤ Thank you!

That is so awesome!!! I'm so glad you just went for it and started making things. It is so therapeutic to get lost in something and let time get away from you. You really can make miniatures with extremely humble supplies! You can make minis out of anything.

Fabulous as always. Every single time I watch one of your videos I have the same thought - I WISH you would write a book with step by step tutorials showing all these wonderful paint and effects ideas, colours etc - PLEASE??! I bet I'm not the only one who would buy it so that I could learn to paint.

Different and less expensive too! I used to feel making miniatures was for people in higher income brackets, but when you see someone take a cheap and a not cheap version of a thing and using different materials in different price ranges achieve magic in both, you suddenly realize that it doesn't have to cost a lot, and the chains fall away! I've been wanting to do a fountain. I will definitely try it now. I'm so excited after seeing this!

Thank you for showing this little experiment.🥰 I think that each of these models has its use. For instance, if you're making a diorama of a "new" garden then the more expensive fountain would work best. However, if the objective is to have an abandoned garden, then the cheaper one would work better... because it's details make it look old and worn. 😊

    • @queencityminis

I just saw a miniaturist from Japan make running water by dripping UV resin onto fishing line, then trimming it to size. I plan to play with that technique. Give it a shot, if you have the materials.

These both turned out great but I have to say that having the right materials does make all the difference. I spotted that fountain on Temu, but decided to pass on it so it was good to hear that the detail was a little lacking. I am a big fan of UV resin too, it's soo easy to use and take things to that next level.

I love your styles and techniques so much. It's a bit of a coincidence you posted a video on fountains. I recently found a small basalt rock that looks like one of those columnar pillar basalt fountains and thought, "Shyra could turn this into something cool foe a garden mini."
So, I giggled to myself when you posted this.

@@queencityminis I completely agree! Little Gretchens workshop is awesome and her laze' fare attitude about the whole mini process is freeing! So what if I mess it up, maybe that's just my disappointment that something didn't go the way I had planned it, but it actually turned out much better. And at the end of the day as long as I like what I did and it makes me happy, it doesn't matter if someone else thinks it's terrible. That's an opinion and there are sometimes less than nice intentions behind their opinion. There seems to be a very close-knit mini community with a handful of UA-cam mini creators at the center, and I truly believe that the genuine nature and intent of said group is the draw. People want to be a part and connected to others who encourage, guide, and have a desire to help others discover the joy that the miniature world brings. Whether that joy comes from creating or watching and cheering someone on, it doesn't matter because what is important is the happiness that comes from just being part of and interacting with minis and those who love them! Keep on creating! 😉❤️
