Mini DIY Table Top Waterfall
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 чер 2024
- I make a lot of projects that take up a decent amount of space, but something like this table top waterfall would be perfect for just about any location. It also didn't cost very much. Collectively it was probably only around $50 USD.
Like I said in the video I wanted to keep this one simple and minimal. Long-term it will of course fill in and look fuller, but the vision is for it to remain clean.
As promised here's the material and plant list. I linked up what made sense, but the others are on you. Also everything other than the Bucephalandra I sourced from my backyard.
Material List:
Organizer Tray - amzn.to/308448H (Affiliate Link*)
Mini Pump - amzn.to/2Og8fbR (Affiliate Link*)
Slate Stone
Manzanita Driftwood
Superglue - amzn.to/31REORm (Affiliate Link*)
*I receive compensation for affiliate link clicks.
Plant List:
Marchantia polymorpha (Liverwort)
Plagiomnium insigne (Badge Moss)
Sphagnum Moss
Bucephalandra 'Wavy Green'

I think this was a really fun project and would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to do. I have a lot more projects coming up that include waterfalls, so if you like these type of projects then stay tuned! Anyway let me know what you though about this one and I'll see you all next week with the Gargoyle Gecko vivarium.
what little critters would be great for this?
@D_N ooooh
I think that would be an awesome betta tank.
@@DwarvenCustoms scaling it up a bit for a Betta fish is a good variation
This project is so cool! One of my favorites!
The camera quality is clearer than my actual vision.
Dose your eyes just stop focusing
Late but that is straight facts!!!😂
Shelby Johnson I think we’re all late
Ur a legend already then
But you have to use your vision to see it
I’m about to make this out of boredom
That's impressive - this guy needed rocks and plants and water and a box.
@@Asdayasman lol
or procrastination! :D
This is relevant now
Well ,how it turns out?
There is now a sudden urge for me to find a way to shrink myself into the size of a beetle and explore all of the terrariums you've ever created because it would be so magical.
Something tells me that tanner brings over a newly finished terrarium instead of a six pack of beer to friends house on a weekend night. No doubt, his friends and families houses r full of his work. Thx for making the vid
That was absolutely amazing. I am a conservation biology major in undergrad and I watch your videos to help set up mock ecosystems to represent different areas. You never cease to amaze!
So biotopes?
So
A biotope is the same as saying a habitat. A persons can never fully replicate a habitat because we don’t have the ability to survive long enough to get the perfect conditions to recreate a thriving nature humus layer of soil. I do not feel confident in saying I create natural habitats so I call them mock ecosystems.
@@raidonbarnwell3790 beautifully said
If you want to see some more beautiful habitats then watch Asu’s videos he goes all out! I mean seriously, he actually maintains the plants and doesn’t just put it there for decoration! Very peaceful and calming
it's always so interesting how getting things to look natural and unintentional, ironically, takes a lot of effort and planning. finding and creating patterns is so ingrained in us as a species that we can so easily spot when something- a design, a structure, how something is placed- looks deliberate. mad respect, man; you really know how to bring these creations together
Imagine how God feels
If you were talking about clothes, they'd call that sprezzatura.
Very well said
Petco be like: "Sure you can put an Oscar in that tank. They don't get THAT big"
No kidding. "Tinfoil barbs? Great for home aquariums."
Arapaima
Good for a 20 gallon
@@Gre993 Yes, and Arowanas, which grow to be 4 foot long predators? Perfect for your 30-gallon tank. This abuse of animals needs to be stopped.

Here is a tip! When scaping small tanks, the smaller the aquarium you choose - the finer the sand needs to be. It makes the tank look like miniature of nature instead of an artificial tank due to the proportions.
you could make it a little snail rehabilitation place. If a snail gets hurt or the shell is broken by accident, you can put it in there to heal.
they would climb out lol
I was thinking shrimp myself. If he used aquarium sealant instead of super glue to set the stones that is. I'm pretty sure the super glue would be toxic to all aquatic life
@@poldoll5683 super glue is actually really common in the fish hobby. I use it to hold moss on driftwood and glue rocks together. Completely safe for the fish as long as you use the right kind
This cute comment haha
@@poldoll5683 It's not toxic & used very often in the hobby. If you are worried about gorilla glue, Seachem literally takes Gorilla Glue & relabels it as "Aquarium safe Seachem Flourish Glue"
I’d like to let you know something, I built this 3 days after you posted this video serpa, and it still runs perfectly today and is still my favourite. Thank you
I really respect your artistry and the amount of skill/time projects like this take. I would love to get into this, but I just don’t have time in my life. Thanks for letting me live through you.
I adore this. Living home decor is an amazing concept. Very well done. Very Zen.
Thanks I'm glad you like it!
Have you ever thought of a design which looks like a lost/forgotten city? A terrarium where the plant will actually grow on the 'buildings' - a memory of humanity
Thank u, I forwarded this to my son to make Xmas presents out of your idea. One for his grandparents and 1 for his dad to take into the office. It is affordable, personal and very feng shui with the relaxing atmosphere, low maintenance as well, so the perfect gift for any occasion.
CRUSHED IT 👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks bro! See you soon 👊
With what? A mallet?🤣
@@FrehleyFan3988 bruh
I really like this project! But I would really appreciate seeing a follow-up video to see how the project weather's. How the plants and the Moss and such adjusts.
That was my question, with it being uncovered how do those plants hold up & do the underwater ones need fertilizer?
@@NxOxOxDxLxExS most likely he adds fertilizer in the water are as bucephalandra and anubias are epiphytic and absorb nutrients directly from the wafer column and moss will be fine
I’m sick and staying home from school and now I feel a sudden urge to make a waterfall
Did u make it

Please do a house tour! I bet it's so relaxing being surrounded by so much nature you have put so much love into. You should open a spa and fill it with your creations! I'd go!
I'm so glad that you put out this more accessible content as well as your in-depth, painstaking builds. This is very inspiring and a reminder that a project doesn't need to be enormous to be dope as hell.
Well said!
It did turn out great indeed. The shelf as a whole is great, I love the little universe of a space you have in there - the three are sitting so well together. Thanks!
I would add some freshwater cherry shrimp to that and with the color of the sand the shrimp would really stand out and look stunning, plus they will feed off of the aquatic plants, lay eggs and breed.
How can I NOT subscribe after seeing this?BEAUTIFUL!
This would be beautiful for some small colorful shrimp and snails :)
Shrimp should be in 10 gallon tank, not a tiny decorative container.
@@facelesstunes8608 bruh a 10 gallon?
@@facelesstunes8608 Chris from Fish for Thought says you can keep shrimp in a bowl
@@facelesstunes8608 shrimp can be put in anything that is 2.5 gallons
It doesn't look like it would be good for shrimp, even trough it might be big enough. I am not sure about snails either. But a bigger version of it with a filter would look great with some guppies or tetras!
I found that extremely inspiring! I’ll definitely be creating one as soon as I have an appropriate place for it. Just beautiful! Thank you.
I swear you make this look so easy. I want to make something like this
You are very WELL-ORGANISED and manage every inch in order. Very well-presented!!! Thanks for sharing!
Im really looking forward to updates on this piece, I myself have wanted to do something like this for a while and hope to start off right in order to have the work thrive long term. Thanks Tanner!
My cats would be like...ooohh, running water, this must be our new water bowl. They would totally be drinking out of that LOL Lovely scape, very tranquil and I love how you truly made it look as though a branch had fallen into the water and split apart.
This instructional is very well put together thanks for adding the amazon product list. I have a Leopard Gecko who loves water I'm going to build this inside his terrarium. Thanks for this!
I’m planning on getting a dumpy tree frog, as I’m away from it just by a few days I wanted to find a way to keep the humidity or at least give them a full chance of always having water, I stumbled across this and it gave me quite a few ideas, thank you and amazing job on that waterfall!!
This is absolutely something I want to try when I can afford to.
That looks REALLY nice. I love your designs! You've inspired me into doing terrariums and I'm seriously thinking about getting into waterscapes. Keep up the awesome work! Thanks for the video
Watching your videos is super soothing. I feel like my general stress levels are greatly reduced during and after watching.
I appreciate your existence
This is amazing. Almost makes me feel like I could try to make one
Earth landscapes are quite beautiful.
Even when small and simple.
Thanks so much for this! Not only as another one of your beautiful and soothing scapes, but I've been pondering how best to do a waterfall for a particular themed tank I'm planning. I look forward to more ideas and inspiration, as my builds tend to develop over months not days ;)
of the things i have seen you build so far, this one is my favorite. the sand contrasting with the slate rock is just perfect.
So bright, clean and airy! I love it! Beautiful as always
this is by far one of the most crazy minimal setup i have seen.. for that my friend u got my sub
Looking good!!!
You are the most serious I saw in UA-cam, you don't play with life and put fishes everywhere because it's cool or things like that. You always make everything really bucolic and beautiful. This one could be a project for me, I haven't really a lot of place and you give me beautiful and creatives ideas so thanks a lot.
Turned out beautiful... I must say watching your videos few years back have brought out my creative side... having total 4 tanks. Family and i had to move in with the in-laws and had to give away do to no space for them. Broke my heart but we are currently bouncing back and on our way to a home. Once i do ill continue building one tank at a time. Much love from Santiago Family in Orlando Fl
I made my first terrarium today! Thanks for the inspiration my friend!
Hey Tanner, awesome build yet again! If you make this last build 10 times bigger, it would make a perfect home for creek-dwelling musk turtles! Thanks for the upload!
I may be 2 years late to this party but wow! Watching this mini waterfall took me to a different place before you even said it. Top notch work and a great video!
I am in love with this! For a desert gardener like me an indoor water garden is an oasis. Thanks for the idea!
Very cool with the moss 💚 so simple and does not take to much space
I wish I had the space for something like this...Looks amazing, man! Keep up the great work!
I've been binging your video's, and I love every single one. I can't wait to get started on something small with a waterfall feature, right after I finish my naturalistic dart frog tank. Thanks for showing us what is possible and making me excited for this hobby!
I can’t like it twice so I’d love an update. This summer I’ve managed to make several terrariums and several ripariums. I brought back lots of moss from Norway last year and now my moss box is full of other plants and even small bugs. Thank you. My next will be inspired by your great work again. I can’t wait.
Wow, mosstache man. That is stunning, as per usual. I'm not usually a fan of light colored substrate, but you pulled this off beautifully. You've given me yet another idea to spend my money on 😁😁
I must say, seeing something small like this seems so much more manageable and good for a small space or on a table, love this idea!
All of your work is absolutely incredible.
this looks so relaxing! I would love it on my kitchen island. I think it would sound so peaceful and would be great to destress!
I have a little filter I took out of an old 1g betta tank that I kept a snail in for awhile to grow a little. I’ve been looking for something to use it for, because well I don’t want to waste it. Thanks for the idea, I think I’m going to try to create something sort of similar, it looks so good!
I was thinking of working in a filter as well just for fun. Maybe adding some clay / flourite to the substrate for some nutrients for the plant.
You are a true artist mate! Thought about putting a nano aquarium in my glas bar but always worried about the weight. This is a great alternative, so cheers for that...
That looks beautiful and wonderfully relaxing! I would love to try something like that. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Wow, such a great idea accompanied by an equally amazing project. You always deliver the best of each every video. Keep up the wonderful work!
You know, you should take still pictures of your process as well and write a book! I would buy the heck outta that!
That is so beautiful and it’s actually one I can do
Your voice over & explanations are appreciated! I always loved watching others, but your explanation answers many of my question 🙏🏼
This channel feels like it deserves to be top ten like Nile red. He’s the science guy, you’re the nature guy.
Nice layout. I think it could do with a couple of seashells or shells from water snails.
It'll be interesting to see how the mosses grow in.
You always give me energy to work on my own projects and start new ones! Thank you
Your videos are calming and inspiring!
As a matter of facts, since I started looking at your videos I also started to take care of a few plants!
Love your channel, very artistic and educational.I am from India.
same!
Tanner, museum- or zoo-quality, show-stopping piece, as always! Fantastic!! 😃⛲🌿👍
I watch your videos simply to feel better ♥️ I love your eye for natural beauty, watching the things you make come together is really enjoyable and the finished products I feel like I could sit in front of and look at for hours.
It looks almost like a tide pool
*My thoughts:* "It's gonna overflow, it's gonna overflow, it's gonna overflow, it's gonna overflow"
Aight imma make it , i love how simple yet satisfying it looked
Re-watched to refresh on some of the key aspects of building a waterfall. Always wanted to build one :)
*You should let us see how the setup & plants developed after about a week or two...* 🤗
lowkey your voice/editing style makes me feel like im watching how its made or something like that
Because you are watching how he made it . . .
Fantastic simple build. I'd sworn off spending more money on my plant/aquarium hobby this month, but I am so tempted to try this.
So glad I came across this video and channel. I love nature and having something like this in the house would be very cool
If this setup was slightly larger, I'm almost certain you could have a betta live in it peacefully, No?
May I steal this design from you?? 😂😂 I'm so in love with it!!!
I absolutely love this and this is the perfect cheap alternative to the waterfall paludarium I wanted to make!!!
Shallow tanks are not getting the love they deserve
Great build brother i love it ❤️❤️
A little over half filled would look best imo. Filling it up that high looses the cascading effect of the water. Looks good.
This gave me "How it's Made" vibes lol
This is a super inspiring build. Thank you for sharing it!!😍😊
Something about your vids are so soothing and calming

Ok so recently I've been obsessing over the literal moon and I was curious if you could make a small moon-themed tank build
That would be awesome. I'm trying to think if any creature could be put in to match the moon theme.
@@kirin1230 I think something with a shiny silver color scheme
@@KingGinger101 What about a white Betta? Like, a glowing white Betta. Ooo, even better, a white halfmoon! Get it? Because moon. Hahaha, I'm so clever. (Says with sarcasm)
If you look at Asu youtube channel, he made a moon theme one, with a waterfall and everything !
My grandpa has been wanting to make an indoor waterfall for a while but didn’t know how to do it, I can’t wait to show this to him!
Nice to see someone very nifty on this kind of project, and indeed very inspiring. All the way from the philippines thank you for this.
Am i the only one who curious how it looks if there are fishes in it ?
It's wayy too small for fish, other than like 3 fry
This setup is too small to put fish
What kind of water do you put in?
You could put 2-3 African dwarf frogs in it, maybe a couple of shrimp, and that's about it.
@@tsalvlaxitov9594 dude its like 7 cm wide no way a frog would fit...
I really like watching your video when I feel unmotivated. Thank you for uploading and will put any fish in it? Also please do an update if you do put fish in it.
It's too small for pretty much all fish. If anything I'd go with something like Thai Micro Crabs.
Absolutely brilliant another aquatic artist...stunning just like all your incredible builds
Wow. That's amazing idea. Looks perfect
You should add some shrimp or maybe 3 minnows / tetras to it
Zack Payne Shrimp would jump from the tank in seconds. Not enough filtration to support fish either. It would look amazing with a couple fish though for sure
Blue shrimp would be cool to
Thinking about making one for my mom's desk in her office, or for the background! it's pretty rad.
Wow this is so cool, I'm so glad I started to get into this fun hobby. What a beautiful design.
Good video can’t wait to see the next. Question: where do you get the small slate stone?
I buy it at a local fish store.
Most DIY stores, garden centres, some supermarkets (with a big enough landscaping section) sell slate chippings, in the UK.
Inspiring build! I’m definitely going to try this one. I have been having problems sourcing slate, but will try my local fish store as suggested. Thank you!
Most stores use it to submerge driftwood so you should have some luck.
I keep finding purple slate stones at the beach
I think those would look cool after you rinse out the salt
