DUrge FLAYING themselves (according to the last insert from Orin) over their alliance with "the other chosen", DUrge pleading on paper with the iconographic "forgive me father (for I have sinned)" over _admiring_ Gortash, Orin calling us a *liar* if we dare answer her "could you kill one you loved / could you turn your weapons against those closest to you" with "without hesitation", The way Gortash beams when he learns we live, his expression when it's DUrge he sees (opposed to Tav) at the coronation, calling us _nearest and dearest_ and after a successful insight check it's clear he's genuine about being our equal in power. An act that contradicts his conduct of tyranny/domination as a Baneite. Gortash's name being "Sickenly familiar" when we first hear it, all while DUrge cannot recall anything else, even _their own_ name. But Gortash, his name they remember. Whether it was acted upon or not there's no convincing me there weren't *romantic* feelings between the chosen of Bhaal and Bane.
Durge has good taste, falling for such an intelligent, strategic and commanding man who truly respects them. I believe love between them was never acted upon, but that they both crushed on each other, based on level of familiarity Gortash displays. It looks like they haven't moved past friendship. At this point I'd be so happy if only there was a way to save Gortash. He doesn't even have to be Durge's, he just needs to be alive, happy and healthy. Kisses and romance would be a lovely extra.
Minor detail, but I like how Gortash just talks about them being kings, not as king and queen consort, implying them being true equals instead of Durge being subservient to his whims.
@@AA-cf4es Yeah, that's the thing if Durge is a man/nb, but considering the status of queens throughout history being subservient to male monarchs I thought this was a nice touch. I'm not too familiar with DnD/Forgotten Realms lore.
I also realised how early you could recognise the name. Even when recruiting Karlach, you could ask about his boss and it rings a bell too. And whenever it can, Durge can ask about Gortash's role in the scheme. I just can't... My fav banite lol
I never really absorbed Orin's journal at the end - now re-reading it, and with some others bits of dialogue spoken by the Elderbrain and Gortash, it seems Durge literally WAS the plan - like they were doing all the work. This gives more reason as to why the Elderbrain respected Durge so much. Gortash and Ketheric were literally just sitting back as Durge made it all happen. It's partly why the Elderbrain thinks the rest of them are so pathetic. Durge was the glue of the alliance - that's why the Elderbrain AND Gortash seemed so pissed off at the fact that Durge vanished. It was literally all over from that moment, and for Gortash, it all fell on HIS shoulders, probably why the dude aged 10 years in just a month or so that the Durge was gone, having to deal with 'that old stump ketheric' and Durge's batshit insane sibling. Gortash was shouldering everything that DURGE had been shouldering. idk why but I find that so funny.
There's a short video on youtube where next to the pool, before going to face the brain, the player (Durge) attacks Gortash and he basically yells at them for being a fool and seeking fight when they're about to confront a being beyond their comprehension. The player responded with "my hands slipped" to which Gortash smiles lightly, kicks them, says "What a coincidence! So did my foot." Then, still lightly smiling, he goes on about how if you try it again and only when he actually says the threat part, the smile disappears. Really drives home that he has a soft spot for Durge and even finds these kinda interactions amusing/cute/funny.
for real. they are the one who co-created the whole goddamn plot, they were the Chosen of a god, they were betrayed and attacked and mutilated, the very first person to be tadpoled (iirc) while they devised the tadpole plan. and they're the one who in the end determines what fate awaits their whole world/universe (that can be done by any PC but not any PC has been interconnected with the whole plot from its very beginning). also, I want more Durge-Gortash interactions. he's my favorite kind of villain and seeing how he clearly has a history with Durge, it would've been awesome to see more opportunities of restoring that bond, and learning bits about Durge's past/what they used to be like, seeing how he's pretty much the only semi-reliable person who knew Durge before (I will trust whatever he says over Orin's word any time of day or night, lol). I've yet to face the brain with him, but before that, you only meet him during the coronation and after/if you've defeated Orin.
Somewhat unrelated, but I don’t think Jason Isaacs gets enough credit for this role. Everyone praises JK Simmons for his voice with Ketheric, and although it was pretty good, I really wasn’t the biggest fan. Isaacs, though, really captures the slimy, charismatic villain. I mean he’s done it plenty of times before, Lucius Malfoy for example. I might just be biased because I liked Isaacs’ voice before this but I could listen to Gortash talk for hours. It’s pretty easy to see why kids like Karlach for example were easily tricked by him. He’ll tell you whatever you want to hear, in exactly the way you want to hear it. A great villain.
Wow, there’s such a difference in mannerisms, facial expressions, and even tone of voice when Gortash speaks to Durge compared to Tav. He greets them like an old friend. (Or even a past lover?) 👀
I do love that Larian even let you play as the BBEG in a playthrough (aka durge because yes you literally were the bbeg before Orin double crossed you)
Imagine, if you will... A ruling court composed of Tav; Archduke Gortash; Dark Justiciar and head of the faith of Shar, Shadowheart; and Astarion, first and last vampire ascendant. Together we rule Baldur's Gate, then the Sword Coast and finally all Torin. And who's to say we'd stop there? Oh oh oh... and how could I forget our pet wizard, Gale of Waterdeep? Every court needs a mascot. Sadly, Larian proved unworthy of this glorious vision.
Holy moly, I got spooked out so much, your character is literally a carbon copy of mine (with white hair). I chalked it up to just having good taste, but then I saw your role and that you were a sorcerer too (the only class I ever play). You're not in my walls are you?
I got this by bringing both Karlach and Wyll to meet him and not letting Karlach attack him! I basically tested everything and put it in this video (there are timestamps in the description): ua-cam.com/video/6KFprcDHrI4/v-deo.html
Hi! I played as durge but Gortash have never referred to his past relationship with Tav. Could you please let me know what have I missed in my playthrough so I didn't unlock it? 😢 I hoped I will also have it.
I don't think it's possible for him *not* to mention it on a dark urge run. Maybe you already did something to break his trust in you, like turn of the Steel Watch?
Kind of wish it was possible for the Dark Urge to romance Gortash just for the drama of it all lmao

Durge is the main character of Baldur's Gate 3 and nothing can change my mind. 😁

The first two games are directly about Bhaalspawn and the Bhaalspawn Crisis, of course the true MC for the third is a Bhaalspawn
If you are Tav Orin actually kills him 🧔♀️
I love the small detail that if your don't play as Durge you find a White Dragonborn's dead body in the Bhaal Temple that looks like base Durge.
It's confirmed to be Durge, Orin finally killed him before we arrived as Tav.
Honestly, I'm one of those people who saw Gortash and was instantly wishing I could romance him. Even more so now having seen him and Durge content.

I couldn't imagine how awkward it'd be if you were romancing Karlach and you walk in and Gortash is all like BESTIE!!!!
I do love that Larian even let you play as the BBEG in a playthrough (aka durge because yes you literally were the bbeg before Orin double crossed you)

And a stuffed bear. Every court needs a stuffed bear :D :D :D
Don’t forget the best drow!!
I am so upset the Larian robbed us from creating our own harem lolllll (or reverse harem)
So many conflicting interests in that line up they wouldn't manage to stay allied for a month.
absolutely channeling dagoth ur in this one. absolute slay from jason isaacs.
so i'm not the only one who was getting dagoth and nerevar vibes here!
I thought he sounded like Pagan Min tbh. Then again maybe it’s just because they look very vaguely similar (to me anyways)
its funny how eccentric orin's way of speaking is in order to maintain the character she's built up for herself.
i hope in patch 8 we could at least smooch and then punch gortash

Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo.❤🥰
my pleasure 🥰
thank you so much for the video!
thanks! Gortash is cool!
how did u get the scene at 14:30 ?? i’ve never seen that pov
I got this by bringing both Karlach and Wyll to meet him and not letting Karlach attack him!

This is a bug, the same thing happened when I played, then I went back to the old save and it was fixed
Patch 4? Did they add this in during that patch?
Is that Jason Isaacs?
Greets “them”? It’s a singular person. Either he or she.
You can fyck a brain eating tentacle alien in this game. I want you to understand this.
open a book
Get a hobby ffs.
r u dumb..
Can't change everything, but thankfully there are mods.
That glint of light in his eyes really adds to the "uwu my bestie is back" vibe LMAO, I'm so ill for this man.
