This touches our oldest and most basic desire for warmth, peace and protection from the cold and storm just outside these walls. Perfect in time and place.
I've seen/heard a lot of these "rain w/ _____ scene" videos, but what I particularly like about this one is that the wind, rain, and crackling fireplace don't all sound like one cacophony of noise in the exact same spot. The sound of the rain storm clearly outside and on the window as opposed to the fire which is louder and more clearly heard is brilliant. I love that I can hear the storm, but that it's "outside" where it belongs and that, for some reason puts me out like a light every time.
I agree. I've listened to a lot rain sound videos but something about this one makes me feel the same way as when I look up at a grey overcast day. The room depicted is beautiful and the movement and glow of the candles and fire are so calming. The audio balance of all the sounds is in harmony. The rumble and bass of the thunder gives me chills.

I really do like how the rain isn’t the same two or three minutes of audio and has a variety of different sounds. Like how it may be pelting on the window one minute then become a more gentle patter on the roof the next. Very soothing. 10/10 would recommend. ☺️💜💜

After days of traveling, you’ve finally made it to the next town. The weather grows dark and before long; rainfall. You rush yourself to the nearest inn. A three story stone building, finely made. “This must be one of the better inns in town”, you think to yourself. You enter the establishment, only a few patrons are around. Some drinking, a few having meals and a couple playing a silent game of cards. An innkeeper is standing behind the bar cleaning one of the tankards while a barmaid is busy sweeping the floor. You approach the innkeeper. “Well hello traveller! What brings you to our lovely inn this cold stormy night?” He smiles. You explain your journey thus far, and he nods in silent agreement. “I see. Adventurer eh? Yes we see your type pass by often enough. Usually looking for work.” He scratches his short grey beard. “Well, I don’t have any quest for you sorry to say! We do have food though and drinks! And beds if you need them!” He gives you a friendly smirk. “All at affordable prices, I assure you!” You tell him that sounds like exactly what you needed after days on the road, sleeping on dirt floors and eating nothing but rations. His smile widens, “Coming right up! The food and drink will total you 3 silver, the room is a silver per night.” You pass him the coin and he vanishes to the kitchen behind him. Returning shortly with a bowl of hot stew, some bread, cheese and ham. He places them before you and puts a large tankard of mead next to them. “Enjoy!” He says, “Oh and before I forget, here’s the key to your room upstairs. Second floor; last door at end of the hallway, I have one of the barmaids ready it for you.” As he proceeds away from you to wipe down the bar. After finishing your meal, you make your way upstairs. Going to the last door, you find a medium size room with a fireplace, a wardrobe, two chairs and a single bed. The room is lit by several candles and mildly decorated with paintings of the local landscape. You remove your armor and change to a set of pyjamas found in the wardrobe. They’re a little big but still comfortable enough. You lie down on the bed, the fireplace has already been lit. The sounds of rain still heavy as you see the droplets cascade down the glass window. The combination of sounds slowly burden your eyelids as they flutter and soon after; darkness.
I have Tourette’s and I have a really hard time sleeping, a lot of these rain videos I’ve tried listening to have certain noises that just make me tic, but this specific video lets me sleep like a baby. Much love ❤️
Thank you so much for this gem. Not only do I play this on my TV to help me sleep, I also play it while I read books in cozy little nook I've created in my apartment. A good book, fluffy blanket, hot chocolate and this video = heaven on a cold, stormy night.
Agreed, the relaxing part is hearing the thunder and rain while feeling warm, dry and safe. That's when i like hearing thunder, bnot when i'm outside, directly exposed to the elements.
This room is alive. The soft swishing of the candles. The crackling of the fires, and the hitting of rain upon the roof. Please give me a soft and warm blanket with a good book and a cup of hot coco and I will be perfect.
Ooh that sounds legendary. Imagine a village of authors and readers like that. A little close-knit village where you work satisfying, simple and calming jobs and you can just relax and read or write and socialise with amazing people.
I honestly prefer rainy/ foggy nights or days over hot summer days. An old beautiful wooden house, I hear the rain in the forests that surround my house and on the windows. There's an fireplace that peacefully burns and gives warmth, the cold wind blows the red and brown fall leaves away. I have an cup warm tea and an book, I know the thunder and rain can do nothing in my peaceful, beautiful house....I don't mind being quarantained here.
To sit in one of the red chairs, Jack in one hand, cigar in the other. Dog at my feet. This is absolute heaven to me. Thank you @The Guild of Ambience. Truly magnificent. If only...
This isn't animation, but it is a fairly frequent looping which is why we don't see the candles melting down... but if they are frozen first and then put in a cold room, where there is almost no breeze at all, so they burn straight upward, they melt very slowly... depending in their composition, of course. The introduction doesn't say it's real in so many words, but it does say it

i had a dream once that i was looking out of the window of a cabin, rain and snow coming down hard. in the light of the moon, the shadows fell over me as i sat on the carpeted floor. i dont live somewhere where it snows, so i had been up that night to watch it fall. my roommate came over to give me a blanket and asked me what i was doing. i told him i was enjoying it before the charm and wonder wore off. right now, the future feels hopeless. i had wanted to do so much but it feels like im not even allowed to dream anymore. ive listened to this video for about a year now, mostly when im writing. ever since that dream, listening to this brings me closer to that cabin in my dreams, and the future doesnt seem so dark. to everyone who feels hopeless, feels alone, feels scared or empty or numb, this wont last forever. find the little things that help remind you that this tunnel has an end. keep dreaming.
I too have felt despair and hopelessness. It does get better although not always on our timeline. IMHO just keep putting one foot in front of the other and repeat. Some days it’s that way. Sometimes not. I’m always grateful for the “not slogging along days.” Good luck to you.
Hello person reading this, if this reaches anyone. we're from different parts of the world, we lead different lives, we are different people. but yet, this piece, this video, has brought us together. and I will never meet you, but just remember we're still connected by this piece- by simply listening to it, together. it's crazy how the internet can bring people together, huh? and I hope you're doing more than "okay," and if you aren't, remember: you will be okay, and that's a promise. please be easy on yourself- it's been a tough year, I know, but we're almost over it, and you will be happy. I don't know how much you'll remember of this, but I'm glad that our lives intertwined in this little way. have a nice day, or night, and lastly, nice life..
What a fantastic comment! Usually comment sections are filled with people arguing about their various opinions. It's nice to be here knowing that everyone is enjoying the same thing.
I've favourited a lot of these sleeping sounds, but I have to say I come back to this one often. It's hard to find a video where the rain sounds like rain, the thunder isn't constant and sounds like there's no roof on the room, and the fireplace isn't drowned out or insanely loud. You captured all three. Well done. :)

@@SelinaCat I can definitely try more new things when I feel safe rather than when I feel threatened. Example: visiting a new restaurant. I'd much rather visit a place I feel safe traveling to and dining in than one I think I'm going to get mugged on the way into or food poisoning once inside - I gain nothing of value through this experience. Tbh I've had enough feeling unsafe in my life - living in survival mode is not something to aspire to.
@@Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger that is not the same thing as taking risks. That you think trying a new restaurant is risk taking speaks to that. I'm not judging, I struggle with this too, and pointing out that taking risks only occurs when we are okay not being safe and comfortable all the time. That's difficult for those of us who have spent large parts of our childhood feeling unsafe. I'm mearly reinforcing that was just as unhealthy as living your life never putting yourself out there because you've equated all risk taking as dangerous/"you are unsafe". I know because I'm living it too and trying to fix it.

I tend to play videos like this one very, very often. Every night these help me sleep, whether rain or fireplace or ocean sounds. This one will always be a personal favorite, however. It’s gotten me through countless essays, finals/studying bgm, working on my writing, sleep, you name it. The ambience as well as the sound itself.. there’s just something so beautiful and magical and so.. comforting about it all. Since this video reminds me of certain great moments of my life, I'm going to rant on the comments because why not. So I'm French and in October - November I went to the United States in a host family. It was at the edge of a forest, they had 2 dogs, it was mostly cold outside. I had a fireplace in my comfy room : the room was light beige and I had on awesome bed that was so good to relax in. I could play with the doggos, hearing the rain outside and being near to a fireplace myself. I miss that, and I also miss my host family because they were great people that gave me some great time, they were so loving and caring it was heartwarming. There was also a time I went to Scotland, up the Highlands... I am going to miss those hills and lakes and clouds and trees and Scottish rought accent for the rest of my life. Those times spent looking at the misty hills were probably some of my best memories, hearing the rain coming down the lake and being just near nature... Not a single day passes without me thinking of it.
Percy Fidanza Garcin Awesome! SO important to cherish those memories, appreciate them and feel eternally grateful for having opportunities presented to you that facilitated all of your wonderful memories today 🎈 I really respect how you seemed to genuinely and literally take heed of your surroundings and took the time and effort to absorb them to the fullest. To me, these amazing experiences were most assuredly not lost on you or taken for granted by you. I appreciated that so much abt your comment. 🙏🏼 namaste
It’s funny. I live in a cabin in Alaska where no one else is and this is what I hear most nights but if it isn’t raining or snowing or I don’t need a fire I turn this on. Guess I’m so used to it I can’t sleep without it now. Anyways goodnight loves, I’ve got a date with sleep. ❤️
This nature sound really heals my soul. Whoever is reading this, I hope you find peace and harmony for your day. Whatever you're going through right now, I promise, it'll be okay. Peace be with you, my friend.
If you're writing your PhD thesis, these are the best sounds you can play to immerse yourself in this library and your ideas. If it sunny outside no problem, close all windows, instead of the heating switch on the air con, bring a lamp, play the sound in high volume but not from your computer, have it from a good sound speaker, and that's it, you're ready to complete those chapters.
I love thunderstorms. It rains a lot in Seattle but I miss the thunder from the Midwest. Thanks for this. I can just hear Harker and Dracula talking about London in this room.
@@andreapaul9832 you can go too videos on UA-cam too see it but too the best of my knowledge it's mostly gray clouds and lots of chilly rain, never heard much about lightening scaring anyone so it's definitely not like Oklahoma! I have extreme insomnia due to paranoia, but this video makes me feel so safe. I listen to it every night to soothe my anxieties. When I close my eyes, I imagine the raindrops gliding down the window, the warm light of the fire and candles casting a soft glow over the whole room. I watch the shadows dancing over the walls. So serene, yet so alive. Thank you for making this video.
Not gonna lie, I'm listening to a lot of ambience videos - but this one is my favourite. I wouldn't survive a single study session without it. Thanks so much for enriching my life on a daily basis, especially in these difficult times! x
All of this gives me a strange yet beautiful feeling, like you can see humanity's very core and it's a warm shining light that has been there for longer than we can imagine. It makes me think of our ancestors, sitting around a fire in a cave, the thunderstorm raging outside and yet the fire is crackling as always and you just know that it will be well, because deep down, humanity is good, connected by little things like rainstorms and a crackling fire. It's incredible to see how we take refugee in things like fire and storms, that used to scare us. But still we are connected, and when you close your eyes and relax, can you feel the warmth of everyone else that has listened to this? Can you feel the love I am sending your way through this message? Whoever you are out there.
The reason why this one has the most views is because it looks so realistic. Most of the other ambience videos look artificial because their wall panels or furnishings are too clean and shiny. And the rain sounds like it’s dripping on a tin roof.
For me is because the sound is the most realistic. I don’t know if it’s because of my phone but other videos sound metallic or they have this background sound that is almost like a static noise. This video calms my mind instead of putting me thinking about what’s wrong with what I’m hearing
For me, it's the sound. I usually hear this kind of video when I go to sleep, with turned off monitor. And the sound in this one is just... organic, if that makes sense, and does not feel like an artificial mix.
I had to live in an abandoned gold-miners cottage 2000ft up a mountain during lockdown, there was a wood burner and a huge bookcase full of the strangest of literature, no TV, internet or phone reception. Wish I was back there, this reminds me of that time.
This touches our oldest and most basic desire for warmth, peace and protection from the cold and storm just outside these walls. Perfect in time and place.
Never thought about it that way.Makes whole lot of sense

This makes me want to buy a cheap plot of land in the middle of no where and build my own off grid cabin. So sick of always paying bills. I want to garden and read books by firelight. The modern world can keep its conveniences.
The modern world says you are not allowed to live like this unless you were born wealthy or retired wealthy. Which is one of the ever growing reasons I despise it.

“All at affordable prices, I assure you!”
You tell him that sounds like exactly what you needed after days on the road, sleeping on dirt floors and eating nothing but rations.
His smile widens, “Coming right up! The food and drink will total you 3 silver, the room is a silver per night.”
You pass him the coin and he vanishes to the kitchen behind him.

I agree beautiful.

Hey
i had a dream once that i was looking out of the window of a cabin, rain and snow coming down hard. in the light of the moon, the shadows fell over me as i sat on the carpeted floor. i dont live somewhere where it snows, so i had been up that night to watch it fall. my roommate came over to give me a blanket and asked me what i was doing. i told him i was enjoying it before the charm and wonder wore off.
right now, the future feels hopeless. i had wanted to do so much but it feels like im not even allowed to dream anymore. ive listened to this video for about a year now, mostly when im writing. ever since that dream, listening to this brings me closer to that cabin in my dreams, and the future doesnt seem so dark.
to everyone who feels hopeless, feels alone, feels scared or empty or numb, this wont last forever. find the little things that help remind you that this tunnel has an end. keep dreaming.
Thank you for that. Life (with hope) always finds a way.
I wish you a good life
I too have felt despair and hopelessness. It does get better although not always on our timeline. IMHO just keep putting one foot in front of the other and repeat. Some days it’s that way. Sometimes not. I’m always grateful for the “not slogging along days.” Good luck to you.

No because then you'd never take any risks or try anything new
@@SelinaCat I can still try new things while feeling safe
@@wowitscoldout1119 but you'd never take any risks. If we never take a chance, so many great things about human beings never would've existed.

I wish my home can look like that one day. Something out of a Charles Dickens novel...

Quit reading the comments and go to sleep. Night darlings, sleep peacefully.
Alright, just a shower first and then hitting the bed.

You, along with pretty much every comment here, make me love life. You are all beautiful angels!
Thanks to remind me this, i was on on my way to get lost on the comments !
Shay Renae But these comments are so wholesome. Gotta enjoy it :D
I watch a lot of these stormy-night cosy-room videos, but this is the best by far. A perfect scene with wonderful sound.
I WANT THIS ROOM!!!! I want an entire cottage/home in this style!
You gave life to how I would always imagine my bedroom. Oh my god this is perfect
You're perfect
byalmo91 Thankyou
@@snasuage very welcome
Look great in the northwest.
Be aware that there's expectations and then there's reality.
Been coming back to this every night for the past month now, has seriously saved my ass. Thank you
Dido🙂
Saving you in what way? I would love to know if you don't mind sharing ?
@@rachidfachat8644 I think they meant saved them from worrying too much about anything that may be going on in their life...
I have a bad cold. These videos are very soothing when you are trying to recover. Especially when you have a cat purring next to you.
I hope that you recovered swiftly Bridget....UK.🙋♀
What a gem this channel is.
Love the animated backgrounds also.
This stuff is great for D&D.
I use this for D&D also
Never considered that. How clever! I think i'll start doing that as well.
i agree
