I have video of him playing wrong on the song Shine on You Crazy Diamond from Royal Albert Hall 😂 you can almost not hear it but u see in the video he missed a chord under the sax solo , I'm not dissing him tho i love Gilmour one of the best 👌
I love everything about this song, but this guitar solo in particular is one of my favorite Gilmour solos ever! It just goes on and on and I don't want it to end.
I was walking down the street the other night, saw a man sitting on the ground, homeless, this song came straight into my mind. I turned back and gave him some money. I did not turn away this time
It's hard to choose but this is one of their best. David Gilmour's voice is nothing short of masterful. They just pull you in and make you a part of the experience...
I have always enjoyed this "version" of Pink Floyd, without Roger Waters. While he was a founding member and had much to add, he also sort of always seemed to be an angry/dark influence as well. This "version" is all about the pure beauty & essence of the band. I may be a small voice & opinion, but it's just me & how I feel. I have their live Pulse DVD. Now that is absolute perfection. Just an amazing bouquet for the senses. I hope you're well, Jamel...I've loved your views & content for a couple years now ✌
This live clip is from the movie Delicate Sound Of Thunder which was recorded at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island NY, where they played 5 nights straight in August 1988 and I was at 3 , including the last 2 nights when this movie was recorded.
To be able to play electric guitar like David Gilmour is a gift from God, as is this song. Yes, David can lift an entire stadiums hearts way, way up there with his solos and we wish they would go on forever. Pure musical joy! 🎸💖🎸
PINK FLOYD!! The deepest, most awesome rabbit hole you'll ever drop into!! Have been P.F. fan for many decades. They were just on a higher, different plain than almost every other band. Their songs can be, at the same time, easy and hard to comprehend. But also very timeless as you will discover as you take the journey with us. Always cool to see someone loving them for the first time. Thanks for the great react J aka J!!!!!!!!
Glad to be here! Thanks Jamal for playing one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs! Gilmour. again shows both his vocal abilities and his legendary Guitar skills. I have played this song dozens and dozens of times and it never gets old.
Even though you can’t see Pink Floyd live . The next best thing is to see the best tribute band to Pink Floyd . The tribute band , Wish You Were Here . The sights and sounds of Pink Floyd ! They have Been doing it for 27 years . I seen them last year . In July . They are great ! I seen Pink Floyd , In 1987 at the Municipal Stadium in Cleveland! The tribute band is great . If you ever get a chance to see them , you won’t regret it !
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
Thank you I have been listening to this song 35 years since it came out. It was this reaction that hit home. I had not tried to understand the song, just enjoy it. With just a few words from you about this, it means so much more. In the past five years or so, I have become more isolated, more left out, more alone and ignored. Having a rare neurological disorder that now has me in a wheelchair, I don't leave the house much, and when I go somewhere, I feel alone in a crowd. I have to find a way to be accepted and included when I show up somewhere by myself, other than people holding doors open for me. I'm going to dig into the lyrics and watch this again.
"Another Day in Paradise" is the Phil Collins song you were talking about. Genesis also has a song about the same subject matter called "It's Gonna Get Better."

Best concert I have ever seen in Toronto Canada 1994 the Division Bell Tour.Fantastic live, lighting was out of this world as well as the stage construction, sound incredible and the back singers they travel with are Amazing. Grew up with Floyd as a teenager and remember many parties just getting wasted to them. 70's,80's and 90's had such amazing bands, what an era. Enjoy the ride.😊
I love the Delicate Sound of Thunder Concert almost as much as Pulse. At about 9:15 David uses his pick hand to touch a fret. I really enjoy watching him play. He's like a surgeon over the guitar. Thanks Jamel!
Pink Floyd has always been a spiritual experience, from early on, (1979) I was 19, and it grew and expanded as did life. I was lucky to see Pink Floyd in 94 at Giants Stadium on a massive tour and again in 2012, at MSG, NY - words fail in comparison to being present in the moment, both you and the back in the same room - Long Live the Floyd -
Jamal, from one man to another, I send you my thanks and praises for what I believe is a service to the worldwide community. Been a fan for a long time now and feel like I know you, brother. Like we're friends. You're a good man.
I have been going to concerts, playing in bands and working shows for almost 50 years. I have seen more shows than I can count or remember. But seeing Pink Floyd in 1988 on the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour has to be the highlight. Pink Floyd defies genre - they are a genre all their own.
My favorite performance of my favorite Pink Floyd song. Great message. Great vocals all around. Other musicians nailed their parts. And the guitar solo can be argued to be as good as the second solo in Comfortably Numb in Pulse concert.
I never understood why they didn’t do this song at live8. The whole purpose of the concert was to raise money for underprivileged people. What a perfect match. It’s my favorite also.
@@ronniecramer1252 I think they don't wanna spoil their reunion in a long time, and offend Roger with a song that he had absolutely not been part of, from an album which was the result of his departure (which Waters was very critical, and arguably embittered about).

We don't do it as much as we would like but usually once or twice a month. We do some holiday meals. It's really amazing how just a little bit of help will go a long way. It was all because of this song.
Nice surprise notification here. The best captured performance on film of a prog rock song ever Rewatch, paying closer attention to the cinematography, arrangement, Richards dramatic opening, lead vocal and harmonic solo and, arguably, David's best solo

This song on the 2019 Delicate Sound of Thunder reissue is so amazing, adding 1.5 minute or so to the solo part compared to the original DSoT release. It just goes on and on.
This song was part of my childhood and I loved it. Makes you think, even as a kid. The the crowd go nuts at the start, then quiet for the first verse til guitar kicks in (apart from odd rogue whistler, lol), that's respect and love for the track right there. But that's up to them, I'd rather they bought food with my donation, but I ain't gonna judge. I definitely know what it's like. They will seek help when ready or die, but the choice is theirs. Can't force help when they aren't ready!
Saw them in 87 in Manchester with my sister at Maine Road. I was 18, my sister was 15. I think it blew our minds the sound. They were using Quadrophonic sound effects, which was cutting edge at the time. The Bed and the airplane crashing into the stage was surreal and then that pig that came out during One of these days..wacky as hell! We were stood on the pitch so this stuff was happening above us. Literally on a high when we left the stadium.
It was through this live show I was drawn and irrevocably fell into the rabbit hole that is PF. Still my favourite live recording from them. It has an aura that Pulse doesn't have, despite the amazing performances.
I hope you’ve given yourself the pleasure of listening to a full Pink Floyd album straight through-it’s really the way they were meant to be experienced. If you haven’t, try Dark Side of the Moon.
I love this song but my favorite off this album (A Momentary Lapse of Reason) is "Learning to Fly". The live version of that from the Pulse tour is amazing. The only issue with that is a lot of flashing lights at the end that might affect those who are sensitive to flashing lights.
I always love your reactions to great classic music like this.. Pink Floyd is 1 of my favorite of all time, but this song is special to me bc of the lyrics.. to be honest with you I have already talked to my family awhile ago that I want this song played at my funeral

I miss Richard Wright. The beautiful tapestries he wove with his key creations were stunningly moving.
He was the glue
Irreplaceable ❤️
He was the soul of PF.
Amazing work by Richard. Exquisite.
That vocal exclamation point that Margaret Taylor added during the solo is exquisite. And I agree that this is one of Gilmour's all-time best solos
They always had some powerful backing vocalists. In this case Margaret Taylor, Rachel Fury, and Durga McBroom. Wish I had been able to see them live.
Yes indeed...perfect singing of all of them. Remember Sam Brown joining the group....but this ad of Margaret Taylor...wow.
I've been lucky enough to see them live twice, with and without Roger Waters.
There is simply no musical equivalence to them. Period.
Yeah! That Lady got some SERIOUS PIPES . OMG .
OMG, right?? When she hit that, I had to just close my eyes. Incredible.
David Gilmour is one of my biggest influences on guitar. As far as I'm concerned, he's never played a wrong note, ever. Just glorious.

He's why I started playing guitar!!!
Always amazes me how Gilmour’s guitar can evoke so much emotion😎
It's brought me to tears more than once!
That's what he does. He is in a league of his own
That's the difference between a guitar player and a guitarist.
His guitar 🎸 solos are amazing
Absolutely. Not a burner, but a damn good musician. And that’s what music is about, yes? Creating emotion.

The Bed and the airplane crashing into the stage was surreal and then that pig that came out during One of these days..wacky as hell! We were stood on the pitch so this stuff was happening above us. Literally on a high when we left the stadium.
Many many thanks to you for sharing this magnificent "live' version with us fans !
ANYTHING PINK FLOYD ROCKS TY FOR THE TEARS I SAW THEM IN 94 AND THIS WAS A TEARJERKER THEN TOO
So much emotion here. So powerful.
Everyone raves about the solo in this song, and rightly so, but it's the lyrics and vocal melody that gets me.
The long haired guy playing guitar is Tim Capello the sax player from "The Lost Boys"
It was through this live show I was drawn and irrevocably fell into the rabbit hole that is PF. Still my favourite live recording from them. It has an aura that Pulse doesn't have, despite the amazing performances.
I was at that concert. It was an incredible experience I’ll never forget.
I love David Gilmour! He is the best in the world! ❤️🌹❤️
saw this tour in toronto floyd played three nights in a row at the CNE and i went all three nights it was amazing
Me too... Exhibition Stadium... all 87 nights and then again in 88, one night. Unforgettable nights
I saw this tour at the Maine Road football stadium in August 1988, stunning, oh to be so young again.
As always so much feeling in the guitar only Gilmour can produce then any other guitarist so impeccable 👌
Still my favorite concert to date. Thanks for sharing.
Been a while. Always top drawer reaction videos. Pink Floyd never delivered anything less than the best.
I agree, absolutely beautiful song.
This is one of my favorite Floyd songs...thank you for doing the video.
I always love your reactions to great classic music like this.. Pink Floyd is 1 of my favorite of all time, but this song is special to me bc of the lyrics.. to be honest with you I have already talked to my family awhile ago that I want this song played at my funeral
You are one of the most real reactors on UA-cam. Thanks.
