The first time I heard Pink Floyd I was 8 years old, the year of 1973, my uncle had bought "Dark side of The Moon" on vinyl of course and we listened to the hole album without saying a word. After that experiense Pink Floyd became my all time favorit band. I have also been on two stadium-concerts , one of them was PULSE, and I still can remember the feeling, I havent had the same experience, even I have been at several big stadium-concerts with Metallica, Bruce Springsteen(x2), Stones, Queen was up there, but not quite.
Pink Floyd is a genre of their own...not like ANY other sounds. Davids guitar sings...literally sings from his soul. I was a teenager thru the 70s, my first concert was Floyd in 1973 Dark Side of the Moon Tour I was 12. And David Gilmour was my first hard crush...he was perfect.
I am sorry I missed their PULSE show ( Iv'e watched it countless times on DVD) I think if I HAD seen it live, I would still be there pointing at the stage going aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
@@Andy-lm2zp I was there twice in summer of ‘94. Once at Yankee Stadium in June. And the other at NY Giants Stadium in July. The most epic shows I’ve ever been to. Seeing The Rolling Stones this Thursday lol.
I grew up with Pink Floyd. I was so used to them that I never gave the music a second thought. It just was always there. Now, I get very emotional hearing the genius and memories it brings back.
Same. Pink Floyd was "just another rock band" while I was growing up, and not necessarily one of my favorites. Time made me realize: Pink Floyd isn't just something to listen to, it's something you resonate with.
I get it. It sounded so good, rocking out back then ... but now it's like hearing a masterpiece forever etched in history. Doesn't get any better than this performance.
yup, you nailed it, DG's solos just move us in a way that fast, flashy, albeit talented guitarists simply don't, his solos always seem to have meaning and complement the song, and you never tire of them, he's a one off.
One does not exactly jam to Pink Floyd. Their's is the only concert that I have ever been to where I sat perfectly still the whole time. Just taking it all in. 😉✌🏼💙
I've seen them 3 times...3 best concerts of my life. I've seen so many, being a teenager in the 70's in the Bay Area with Bill Graham Presents Day On The Green...we saw so many bands! Legends. I am so grateful for being part of this generation. Pink Floyd, is my #1 .
I was stationed in Italy in the 90's during the whole Bosnia thing. I got to go see Pink Floyd outside of Milan, summer of 1994. Big , incredible show. A drunk Italian did piss on my leg, but it was still worth it
Nice! As you know if you’re classically trained, this music isn’t terribly complex but it always hits just right. Sometimes there is perfection in simplicity. And great music is supposed to make us feel something, no matter the genre or complexity. Pink Floyd always got it just right.
I’m 76 and Pink Floyd was entertaining since I was 19 or 20. I used to think my feelings were close to The Moody Blues until I heard Pink Floyd. Now I’m listening to Tool (better late than never.) I was so fortunate to be 21 in 69. Best music ever!
Pink Floyd is the only band that hypnotizes me. They are in a category of their own. I started watching your reactions to different bands and I relived my first time listen to some songs through your reactions. cause you know, once you hear a song you can't unhear it. and each time you listen to it, althought is as good as ever, or even better and better, still it's not your first time listening to it anymore. And now, going through all your PF reactions I start loving them even more as I kind of relive the moments I started loving them. Don't know if it makes sense. It does for me :))) And what you said about the band in this video and about David I swear you were taking the words out of my mind. That's exactly how I always feel about Gilmour. It just takes over you and you are happy to be moved like a puppet. I never heard this solo and I was so happy to hear something new and long from him :)) You know, I heard many of David's solos, but I think I could have him solo me for an hour and it would be not enough. It's awesome to see someone else having the exact same feelings about this. How magical is music?
Oh I think you are musically inclined, your analysis are spot on. This coming from a 70 year old little old lady and her oldan in Ontario 😆 . Keep posting we look forward to watching.

My Great Uncle b Buford Jones was the sound engineer from this live album "delicate sound of thunder" as well as worked with them in studio on the album before this "momentary lapse of reason". I asked him several years ago who he was with in May of 86 when I was born, he leaned back & had to think back. He said I was in studio with Pink Floyd we started working on "momentary lapse of reason" in March of 86. All I could say was that's badass lol.
Polo…my name is Chad Randle. I had to comment not this song, but songs you have listened to on your Channel. You showed up in your recommended section of UA-cam a while back and I have listened to almost of your videos. I love your setup, your voice, your reaction, the overall energy of you. Cool and smooth and such a great listener of so much music and I appreciate you and your videos. I’m a huge Pink Floyd fan. I am turning 49 this year. I discovered Pink Floyd from my sister when she would pout on the mood lighting and candles, inscense….and heard Dark Side of the moon from beginning to end..on vinyl when I was 10 years old. It still stands to this day as one of my all time favorite top music of all time. I have many artists and bands that are in that same light. I love all types of music genres, my ear gets attuned to some voices, guitar riffs, drums, etc. the mood. The groove. Friends, atmospheres, etc. I have a very wide selection of classic rock. Not too much in today’s time. My opinion is music today is a hard listen…I try to give artists chance, but the magic and feel of genuine instruments voices, not in an electric style, but real deal…..sorry..I’m rambling. I wanted to reach out and thank you for your videos, your channels. Most of what you say resonates and I agree with your critique of what you are listening to. You have put a smile on my face..especially when you listened to time. That’s my heart and soul…my theme song. Thank you! I haven’t seen any recents but I wanted to connect with you and awesome to watch you and I think you’re cool and smooth! I appreciate you! I feel a connection….lol thank you ….
Even though Gilmour isn't a Steve Vai or Satriani as far as range of technique and flavors, what chops he does have are wonderful. It's like he has this etherial sound and his simplistic playing is punctuated with a mature sensitivity in his bend work, to which he is a master. It's like you've died and are racing thru the clouds toward on your way home. It really feels like a sound from the other side.
Nice reaction. Some Pink Floyd/David songs are very slow and mellow, but they are never boring. There is always an intensity no matter the temp, because it makes you feel things that we all feel but don’t always have the music that connects us with that. David is performing this Fall, just in New York and LA (at least in the US). Tickets are still available on Stub Hub so if you can swing it to get to one of those shows, drop what you’re doing and get that ticket now. Likely the last chance we will have to see him perform.
My brother and I went to Houston and saw them on a Friday night and saw Pink floyd then again on Saturday in Dallas. I flew to NC for work on Sunday for work Monday and called my buddy and asked whats up and he said Pink Floyd was playing and he was going so I ended up going again call my brother and jacked with him so that was three nights in a row how about that?!!!! I get it. It sounded so good, rocking out back then ... but now it's like hearing a masterpiece forever etched in history. Doesn't get any better than this performance.
Gilmour’s voice is perfection, as always. For me, it’s soothing. If I’m struggling or just having a day, it’s Floyd time.
and for me also Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson
As far as smooth perfect voices, I would add James Taylor and Randy Travis.
