This song gets me every time. One of my PF favourits. Thank you. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
Greatest Band EVER! In my honest opinion anyway. Pink Floyd.
I've been a huge fan of theirs ever since I was 13 in 1973.
Nice reaction Bro.
I’m almost 59 yrs old and was growing up within the times of Pink Floyd and never listened to them because I “thought” I wouldn’t like them. I now understand it simply wasn’t the right timing of my life to make my connection with them. But now, where my travels have taken me, this is the perfect time. They are my safe space.. my escape and peace. I can’t explain it..❤
I was privileged to see this concert and this song performed live in Chicago back in 1988.. 20 rows back dead center. Needless to say watching 3 hours+ of legendary Floyd performed right in front of you by the Legends themselves was an experience like no other. That is until I attended the Pulse concert at Soldier Field in '94 that just might have edged this one out. The light show, the sound coming at you from speakers placed 360° around the stadium that puts you in the middle no matter where you're sitting as if you're listening to headphones only turned up about 100,000 decibels. Extraordinary and mind-blowing. They spare no expense. Pink Floyd are a class and genre all their own.
No one else comes close imo. Glad to see you finally being properly introduced to them and appreciating their genius. It only gets better. I believe you're ready for "Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5". Studio version first. I'm pretty sure you'll be blown away. 👍
Pink Floyd is forever a world treasure. 1000 years from now will still be amazing. Love your reaction. I was there. Nobody can sing through the guitar like Gilmore. The music is so good...it is emotional. Awesomeness
Pink Floyd is always so good live. When I first saw this posted I was.....he is reacting to my suggestion again? Then I saw live and got excited because PF just hits different live. Such a treat to see another reaction to this amazing song and band.
The part before the last solo, when all the band and chorists sing together .. give me such goosebumps and nostalgia 👌 my favourite song from Pink Floyd 🖐️
Beautiful song, beautiful message.
I grow up listen to this I am 64 now and still love it ever those I see these live
We are so lucky that we can experience Pink Floyd.
Thank YOU to show us your soul.., all the best, and stay positive !!!
We were blessed. I love how back then, every member participating was shone, more focus on Dave, but not just focused on him. I really wish " old souls," in your generation, and theres alot, could go back and be there. Our music was therapy. It really was. Gen X is the most relaxed and care free generation. But im glad you have the technology to go back and you all feel the music just as we did. We are not stuck in time capsules, thus far we had the best time and its not getting better out there. Great reaction. Thank you.
appreciate you so much for sharing! I find that people really are looking for authenticity and heart more and more.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody
May they find it.
Great live version, I remember seeing this broadcast on tv.
Saw them play this in 1994 too live, amazing show.
Great Reaction! Always enjoy your passion for the band that I've followed for 50yrs!
You said you came to pink Floyd late no you did not you arrived when you was ready the appreciation for pink Floyd is a non stop experience the fans just embrace what they created sit back enjoy and know that there is next to no other group like this
appreciate you friend!
I get more out of Pink Floyd songs the older I get. There is just no-one else like David Gilmour
His tone is out of this world also
Can’t wait for his new album. September 6th he releases Luck and Strange.
@ApocalypseRider The only Guitarist that makes the guitar actually speak to you through emotion and touches your soul to bring feelings up inside you that no other Guitarist comes even close to...!! AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS THAT EVEN IN FUTURE GENERATIONS WILL STILL EFFECT PEOPLE IN THE SAME WAY..!! 🫶✌️😥🥰💙👌
@ApocalypseRider I 1st got into Floyd in a major way whilst in my 1st year of high school in Liverpool when The Wall was released 79/80, I was aged 12/13 and "Brick In The Wall" became our Anthem towards the teachers because back then in England teachers could physically beat you and punish you with 6 or more strokes of a wooden cane across your backside or the palm of your hand..!! Wasn't abolished until 1985 that teachers weren't allowed to physically beat school children anymore..!! So from then on Floyd became my all time favourite band and was lucky enough to have been at Earls Court in London in October 1994 for The Pulse Tour Concerts..!! As I've gotten older now I'm 55 my favourite album is now Animals as I think it's the pinnacle of all 4 band members playing at their absolute best..!! Roger's lyrics, David Gilmour's lead and bass guitar playing, Rick Wright's melodic solo keyboards and Nick Mason's best drumming compared to his brilliant drumming on other albums..!! Animals is more relevant now than when Roger wrote it in 1977 specially the way the World is heading..!! It's very frightening the way the World is going in the last 4/5years
Or the whole darn band. Love them and always will.
I never knew how much my life needed a capella Pink Floyd until this one. 💗💗
Pink Floyd are one of the, if not the only band that make me wanna jump in a time machine and go back to see them live. They make me feel on top of the world when I listen to them. Gilmour is arguably the king of the strings, incredible solos everytime.
Great reaction, there’s no words for PF , they maybe the only band that sounds better live 😊, more PF please Echoes live at Gdansk it’s the last time David performed it live because of the death of Richard Wright 🙏
I'll bet this one goes straight into your favourites folder! I saw the earliest version of this on VHS back 35 years ago, but it was about 4 minutes shorter. Then they remastered both the video and audio for Blu-ray in 2019 and this literal masterpiece of Classic Rock was released to the world. I snapped it up as soon as I could find an affordable copy. I watch it all the time. I just love the lyrics, the message, and especially that guitar solo! It is much longer than the original and it lifts my spirits whenever I hear it, even if I'm not feeling down. That is the magic of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour! 🎸🎸🎸😎😉
It's so fun watching someone see this for the first time.
This was the concert tour I saw live in Australia.
I was about 10 m or so from the girls as they belted this out. What a fantastic night it was.
I love this song. Pink Floyd is iconic and their music is revolutionary.
Sometimes long silences say more than thousands of words.
I have been able to see 4 Pink Floyd shows during my life, and for the last 3 that I was able to see (1988 and twice in 1994),
the crowd left the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in an almost religious silence.
Everyone in the audience knew they had just witnessed a memorable moment.
I can imagine! I've loved diving into them.
I’ve been a Pink Floyd fan for over 50 years, they’re brilliant! There’s nothing better than a Gilmore solo
The best guitar solo of Gilmour is always the last one we listened.
There are so many best solo of David!
Double whammy on PF On the Turning Away, yes please! There is no real describing a Feeling, its PF.. they are a feeling. TY for your care, and elevation of them. ❤and✌️
Love ya Papa Jeff!
Pink Floyd is the sound track to my life.
I've watched this video many times, and every time I want it to keep going and going.
Pink Floyd are absolute Masters at building a soundscape that allows your feelings to come to the surface, and to share that with another person who is experiencing it simultaneously is amazing. I hope seeing the live version is as powerful in a good way as you could possibly hope for.
That's a great way of describing it!
Well said!
This song sure hits you in the feels😊
Pink Floyd are the ultimate, mysterious, thought provoking band
@lovejetfuel4071 Couldn't have said it better myself..!! Fantastic way to sum up Pink Floyd in words 'BRAVO'...dude 👏
Hi Tommy enjoy the weekend! Son, you know I am an ole dog grew up with this group have a playlist all their own been to 4 concerts and this year will be 5. Take it from me you have to witness their music in concert to have the full effect, the show adds to the effect so recordings of the concert help a lot! Each song has it's own show, I weep leaving so many emotions. If you are able go to their show this year, may be your last chance.
So glad youre enjoying it brother. The weirdest part of being a Floyd fan is theres something new each and every time you hear it. Fan since 1984 hardly a song ever written that wasnt great. Keep going, loving youre reactions. Liked and subscribed after 3 minutes. Oh and you dont talk too much which is awesome youre face says it all man.
I've loved connecting with you! This journey has been amazing!
Hi Tommy.... Your silence or lack of words says so much more than 5 minutes of words... Pink Floyd are like that... They are an "experience". Did you notice, in that huge arena, when you pull back for a long shot they are just small people playing of the stage with this frankly spectacular lightshow... And that's what the Floyd are about... the Music and the Light Show. Together they take you elsewhere. I was lucky wnough to have seen them on this tour... and believe me, you walked out at the end with the same reaction as you at the end of this..... My head was reeliing and deep inside I knew I wasn't going to see anything to top that.... unless it was anther Pink Floyd gig. And I never have.... although Peter Gabriel comes close I have to admit..... So SO glad you liked this as much as the audio version. Keep on Rocking young sir..!
Appreciate you friend so much! I actually have a Peter Gabriel reaction coming.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Absolutely my pleasure and you know I will be looking forward to that.. Always good times to be had here..
Musical masters (such as Pink Floyd, Dire Straights etc) have a way of taking you along with them with their mesmerising musical journey to the end where they gently land you at an end place where you then catch your breath and the only thing you can think to say is, WOW. What a trip. Thank you for your brilliance.
Beautiful song...Epic guitar solo 👏👏👏
So true!
They just make this world a better place. For decades now.
This song represents every Country on this planet. Notice the last verse and chorus is song by everybody on stage. Re=run that part to really cry.
You don't just listen to Pink Floyd, YOU EXPERIENCE PINK FLOYD. Been to 2 of their concerts and they are amazing. I was 13 when I heard Dark Side of The Moon..I WAS HOOKED! First album I bought as a teenager, still have it.
Well said.
They performed this one when I saw the Division Bell tour (P.U.L.S.E)in 94, and it was absolutely monumental 🙌
I remember being so upset to miss this tour in 1988😅
There’s nothing anyone can say, it’s the message of the song that needs to be told around the world, it’s easy thanks to the musical mastery ✨
I didn’t get into Pink Floyd until I was in my early twenties. Didn’t get it early but one day I decided to actually listen and found my way.
After watching this video, I have to say this song is one of their best. Yet, they have countless amazing songs.
This song on this 1987-1989 tour my favorite recording of theirs.
Ive been a metal head for 30+ years, recorded 4 doom albuns during my life, and Pink Floyd will always be my first and foremost musical passion.
You are not alone.
Dude hell yea! Whats your band? Love to check it out.

First album title track.
Hope you enjoy 🙂
Metal heads just love good music, period. Me too, brother!!!
Same here, love punkrock, love metal, but without Pink Floyd I would not have been where I am in my life right now.
Dude, I love your outlook on things. Great reaction too.
@@M63Tod Hey man, much love!
I hear ya, bro. Right on. Thank you.
subbed for your opening comments!
Thank you so much friend!
When I first heard this song, many years ago, it made me sad...all these years later, and looking at the state of the world, it makes me cry now.
Pink floyd is on another level altogether!
Have you seen any of Floyds 1994 Pulse concert? Incredible concert!
I have a few reactions on here.
My favourite Pink Floyd songs would be the typical ones; "Wish You Were Here", "Brain Damage", "Hey You," and "Comfortably Numb". (My favourite Finnish singer who I never shut up about actually covered "Comfortably Numb" on a Finnish TV show last year, and it was beautiful.)
So damn good!
I appreciate you 🙏❤️🎶🌀🕉️🤗
This has been my favorite Pink Floyd song out of all of them.
Its usually at these times when i would say.....
🎶 Shine on you crazy diamond 🎶💎
And know that you are grandly loved...🧡🇬🇧
Vederli dal vivo è un dono di Dio,credimi!Ciao da Roma
Yes !! It's PINK FLOYD ! that's all
Lol
Thanks for the motivatonal words towards the end, and for the great video! You should watch Sorrow next! Make sure it's the live version from the Pulse concert!
When I see someone experiencing Floyd for the first time brings me back to when I first heard it
This is Delicate. Pulse is good too.❤😊
Thanks for reacting to this. It's difficult to describe what Pink Floyd mean to us fans, because it's so much more than just music.
I can't add anything to what has been already said about this song, about this performance. But I want to point out the three amazing background vocalists in this era. They are often neglected, but they have really elevated their performances to another level.
I'll see if I can find a video to showcase their incredible talent even more. Anyways, love you friend. You're the best!
Dude well said. All the vocals here are amazing.
PFloyd is a cerebral band, no doubt about it. Bring your concentration and open mind to begin to absorb their humanitarian messages. From "Dark Side of the Moon" to "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" and others, it's like those songs point a finger at each listener and ask, "What will you do about this problem?" or "Don't wait to help; do something now!" Love the women with their lovely, piercing, heart-rending vocal backup! Don't notice them clearly until they're shown in the film, then you can't miss them amidst the instruments; without them, tho, there's just a little bit less soul to this song!
Yeah... Speechless.
I grew up listening lots of rock & roll bands, Pink Floyd included. I had an awful relationship w/dad... But once I grew up a bit, I kind of rediscovered bands that I've learned to love and re-significate. Pink Floyd, or King Crimson, for example.
Stay metal, man. 🖤
I avoided so many bands, and im so glad I started this journey
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody that's great! Sometimes we overlook so many things, but there's always time to get to them.
Pure perfection and more relevant now than ever!
I’ll tell you how it felt because I was there… it’s like having an out of body experience… but to me the feeling is if God played the guitar 🎸… it would be David Gilmore… no other words need to be said.
amazing!
Gilmour
Pink Floyd. Always remember you were there. I'm happy for you.
😎👍🎶🎶 best band of all times . ✨
This performance is from 'The Momentary Lapse of Reason ' tour back in 1988 ,it was filmed in the Nassau Colloseum, it was released as 'The Delicate Sound of Thunder ' mine was on VHS (played the tape to death) it was the first album released after Roger Waters left, he said that the band was finished but this tour turned out to be one of the biggest in history, absolute banger of a song.
This concert "Delicate Sound of Thunder" has been a favorite since the VHS days! My favorite live performance of "Great Gig in the Sky" is from this concert, check it out!
Love your reacton to good music
This was amazing.
tommy this song has such a light as the uplifting feelings i have had the album as music english blues pink floyd has been such a cool sweet journey they were so creative with how they composed music and how it resonates with folks so much and this album in particular and yes the messages and elements and the lyrics just really get your attention as far as what is really important if some humanitarian and more philanthropic efforts could use music like this to inspire people to include folks like the homeless and maybe their would be less of a homelessness problem anywhere
One of the greatest bands ever
@@Bill-kj5xw THE GREATEST BAND EVER
That break beat knuckles every metalhead heart!!!
There is an absolutely amazing live action claymation film set around this track, its based around the homeless or ' the invisible ' as the filmmaker calls them, I can't recommend it highly enough, it is certainly an eye-opener.
Sometimes its good to be old, 50+ years of Pink Floyd music and concerts has been some of the best in all those years!
One slight correction this isn't The Pulse Concert from 1994 which I was lucky enough to go to travelling down from Liverpool to Earls Court in London October 1994 (Which they did play "On The Turning Away")on the night my mates and I were there, This Concert is from The Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour from 1988 and its filmed in New York in the Nassau Stadium..!! But same as how emotional this performance is it was the same when I saw them play it at Earls Court it was the opening song for Set 2 and in the balcony all around us their was literally hundreds of grown men and women with tears streaming down their faces (Including myself and my mates) during the song, the meaning of the lyrics and David Gilmour's solo lasted for around 6/7 minuets, its the 1st and only time in a live concert that ive seen so many people openly crying with emotions of joy, sadness, love and fear because of the way a song touched peoples souls..!! 🥰😥🙏🫶
Damn man this one takes me back far. Before I even knew what metal was. Used to hear this as a kid from my Dad. Truly special stuff. Still enjoy this so much but rarely listen to the Floyd now. /Ethan BT
Dude, my sister and her husband always blasted and I would roll my eyes when I was a kid lol. Not rolling them anymore haha.
David Gilmour is straight up remarkable. Thanks for this.
Welcome to the club
The part where they were all singing together (couldnt tell for the drummer?): Very powerful...
Floyd is about thinking and caring saw delicte sound of tbunder and wish you were here tours
Always, always a great show snd in quadraphonic sound.
Been to majority of their gigs including this one and it was an experience that is unmatched Bud, by any band. Same for Comfortably Numb at the Pulse concert in Earl's Court London. Mind blowing, literally
I bet!
My first contact with PF and their music was at a concert in Stockholm. I see both pros and cons with that, but it was something on a whole new level for me. It was fucking epic! They raised the bar to a ridiculous level that can only be reached, but not broken, by a Nightwish concert. I haven't seen a concert yet but I'll go when a concert comes around.
Hell yea
No phones,everybody taking it in.
You must watch the Pulse concert, you will never be the same
True !! 🎤🎼🎸🙏🏽
I was there. It was mind blowing. We left speechless. Truth be told, I like Delicate Sound of Thunder better than 'PULSE'
I love metal too, but I’ve never heard a guitar sing more than David’s solos! He is the only guitarist I’ve heard that can do this. I’m sure others may suggest other guitarist that have this talent. I’d love to hear some examples, but I doubt that none play with the emotions that Gilmour brings to each solo he does. Could be wrong. Go!
He is sooo good!
Please those Backing singers are Awesome too,David’s voice and there amazing backing vocals 🥹🏴
When real musicians are playing, live is always best!
I like the fact that there were no phones during this concert. Everyone is tuned in and not watching this through their cameras.
Master, David Gilmore..
He is going to do other concerts, this year, last chance to see him.
I went in 1994, in San Diego.
2016. Inglewood, CA
Echoes live on Gdansk. Will completely blow you away. PF is otherworldly.
Hey not to sound mean or so, but if it’s alright if you could maybe turn the volume up a little bit, i have hearing damage since birth and even with my volume full it’s still a bit too quiet, (ofc i don’t have it on max but you get the point heh)
It’s alright if you don’t, just thought i’d let you know ^^
Much love from a 19 year old swede hehe!
There is "music" and there is "PINK FLOYD"
lol well said!
When David Gilmour plays guitar its like guitar singing itself. He can hold his notes as long as he wants. One of the greatest guitarists.
Im learning that. Ive gotten tired by the over use of solos and leads, but David always moves me.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Lead guitar doesn't have to fly at the speed of sound. That is what the best rock guitar proves and this is the best example I can think of.
good job .. please react to Dogs of War from the same concert.
Yes!!!
This whole show , damn. This whole show. Like the rest , outstanding. When we are all gone , aliens will dig this up and think , maybe we weren't all that bad.
what else !!
It forgeges the soul, over and over again, every time you listen to THEM. I should be a very expensive katana in a human shape by now , but I am not. Maybe I am still broken....
The thing about Pink Floyd, you either like them or...
YOU LOVE THEM! as I do.
Indeed, the love is growing.
Sorrow from pulse concert is awesome!
