      Drumming is not a competition. To me there’s no such thing as a goat in music. What about Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta… also, what innovation are you talking about? Playing with one hand? Have you ever seen the level of independence of Thomas Lang, Mike Mangini, Virgil Donati or Travis Orbin? What Jorge does is pure showmanship and, in fact, he’s getting tired of it, and wanted to just play music as he said recently. I endorse his approach on that.
      I encourage everyone to see drumming as music, that’s the beauty of it.
      The technical/challenging side of it gets boring pretty fast.
      Don’t think in terms of “who’s the best”. There’s no best drummer/musicians out there. Theres only drummers who are great at what they do.

      el is not cheating w/duallist pedals it's extremely difficult to play 2 duallist w/4 beaters on 2 drums I know cuz I've been doing it since 2009. it's just a different technique just learning how to adjust them is hard enuf and then u've gotta learn how to play them my top speed is 312 bpm 32nd note roll for 20 seconds then 16ths and repeat I dont practice like I did years ago the drummer henker played at 480 bmp in 2009 much faster than el but not as good a drummer and Recardo Merlini from Italy is the fastest at 340 bpm single strokes w/his hands and a great drummer not just speed thx 4 ur reply

    I have an old duallist pedal but for someone like me it's just a novelty. I simply never play anything where it is serves a purpose and it really is pointless unless you are a streamer/youtuber or play some very specific types of music. The only thing I ever found interesting to do with it was that it opened up for hi-hat work or a clave on the left foot over fast bass patterns but again, I sadly never found a use for it and now it's just another piece of equipment to clean every 3 months while it sits on a shelf.

    This was actually a popular thing 15-20 years ago when Sonor's Giant Step Twin pedals got released. Those had a chain/beater for the toe and one for the heel. The cheaper older hardware used to have issues picking it up. If you had a cheap set of microphones/triggers, it would sound like you were hitting notes with a power tool. Some say double pedals are cheating. I disagree and I also like the Duallist, I think it’s smart. Whatever tool allows us to “play” notes on the drums is ok to me.
      Well, triggers I kinda see like cheating, cause most drummers try to go so fast that they aren’t really “playing” any note. I can’t call that “playing”, I’d rather call that… “triggering” 😅(as per).

      There are "triggers" and "triggers" I don't know if you understand what I mean...Is using two duallist pedals cheating? It depends on how you look at it, they are not conventional pedals for sure...so one could argue that El estepario is cheating, but...on the other hand He's doing it all by himself, he has a lot of skill in handling the duallist pedal, those are not pedals that anyone knows or can use, It takes a lot of practice to be able to use them and 95% of drummers are incapable of using those pedals at El estepario level. Also, the video does not have a huge production either. Every beat you hear is real and he is doing it all.

      @hazardeur 10 місяців тому

      triggers are cheating, at least in this case. if you would play it without triggers, you wouldn't even hear these strokes, especially in a band context in a rehearsal room. you wouldn't hear it at all. it's no surprise, since it's so fast it has to have less energy. if you use triggers for any other reason than to clean up the mix because you want your hits to have more definition, while still using no trigger sensitivity, you're cheating because you either make the hits louder than they are or clean them up with quantization. the problem is that people think cheating is bad. it's the only way to do this so why is everybody so salty that he's cheating to achieve it? it's like going to the high jump olympcis and telling them to drop that god damn stick because they cheat as without it, they wouldn't be able to jump that high @@pijusfurmaniukas6972

    Fast...mmm, okay, but what people who dont play instruments, such as guitar dont realise is that shredding and playing really fast is actually easier than playing really slow. The reason being...i probably shouldnt say...in fact yeah, im not telling you

      Excellent point most people do not consider this as they are not musicians. Slower tempos are much more difficult to stay precise while playing.

    dude I've been doing this for 10 yrs but never showed on line henker has been playing at 480 bpm not 400 bpm 9 yrs ago on utube el stepario is very good but not nearly as fast and clean as henker but elstepario is better at making videos that promote his drumming if you research great drummers you will learn who are the greatest drummers historically. not rock but jazz drummers are the best at playing at a higher level technically and musically Berkely school of music produces better drummers its not just chops playing fast over childish pop songs dude you need a musical education seriously.

      Hi, I was trained as a classical musician from age 10. I played classical guitar, won a national contest for ensemble guitarists, moved on to drums, studied privately with pro drum educators, attended masterclasses with Dom Famularo, Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati, I used to run a recording studio, produced mixed and mastered records (all released on all platforms), as a drummer in the past 15 years I have played hundreds if not a thousand of gigs (as high as 60 gigs per year) in Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, England, Poland).
      I’d recommend you count to 10 next time before you judge someone you don’t know.

    I get it. But ... at some point this isn't useful. It isn't music. When double bass killed the dynamics of all music, it was a shame. This is just a furtherance of that. This reminds me the old saying ... you can drive a car with your feet, doesn't mean its to be done.

      Not useful at all musically. He’s always been after playing challenging stuff.

      He will use it in cover songs. Bet. Nobody else can maybe. He’s literally taking requests for songs to use them on.
