A true honor brother! We all have a massive respect for your work!!!
Mr. Duplantier himself! ❤
absolutely incredible, they are both geniuses .
two amazing drummer's🤍
You guys are ridiculous
Thank you both for making me quit drumming……
JK
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by!
if you want to support my work,
just comment whatever you what as much as you can!
It's the easiest way to boost the algorithm!
THANKS!
Is that a snare wire on your bass drum?
One way to boost the algo would be to play it one handed ^^!
You have a good analysis of what Mario doing
Fuck !! Lol
Salute to both of you! The love, the passion and the beats! You made things understandable better than a sheet can explain! Love you man!
It's crazy how Duplantier's stuff can be broken down to fundamentally simple paradiddles and polyrhythms. But then he mixes layers upon layers of it, plays it fast and steady like a freight train, and hits like a thousand sledgehammers.
Just goes to show that you don’t need to know the most complex pieces to be a good drummer!
Not crazy, but to be expected. You can dissect everything to single strokes if you want.
Everything can be broken down like that. Even Gartska.... if you dont know who he is look him up. Makes this drummer look like a noob.
@@notaliberalfromcali6245 yeah, even Virgil....if you dont know who he is look him up. Makes Garstka look like a noob.
@@hazardeur not even close putz
1:43 “This is definitely not a 4/4. Or maybe it is. I got no fugging idea”
Respect.
Takes some big balls to take on a monster like Mario Duplantier in this fashion. Respect Estepario!
They're both monsters :)
You've managed to transport me back to the times our math teacher was so passionate about teaching us integrals that we left the class feeling dumber seeing how someone could comprehend those crazy numbers, yet excited by his infectious joy.
I used to be his drumtech and he would just amaze me all the time, and like you said he never looks tired!! He also tunes his toms super low which he said would help him play faster (he liked the feel of them)
What an honor to be his teacher. The info you have is immense! This is the only place on the internet to find out that he tunes low to help play more like him. I just get natural high all the time from.Gojiras music and Mario's drumming. To play along the songs just as he does would feel even better
I do the same. You get more deflection from an almost dead head
yes exactly and this is why i sometimes struggle to transfer a rythm from acoustic to electric drumming.... electric drum sets have the one fallback that is you can't fell the pushback from the drum u are hitting
Duplantier is an absolute powerhouse on drums...on the other hand you are a a powerhouse as well. And I'm sitting here and drumming on my belly like a beast. Best I can do :D
i have sticks and a mouse mat haha, i do have a very drumable belly tho
Belly drumming is fun though :)
"the Belly of the Beast!"
This is why the drummer from this band is a freaking monster
As 54 years old guitarist learning the drums it's inspiring to see an accomplished drummer, that uses his ear rather than theory to learn. There is hope for me yet not much, but it's better than zero love your channel bro.
This is what makes a good musician: if you know you are in absolute top-league giving such big mass of respect for others. ❤
That part at 7:34 just killed me 🤣.
Amazing video as usual. 🤘
I started laughing too 🤣🤣🤣
Same here
Freakin HILARIOUS
That was absolutely hysterical!!! This man is so incredible at drumming & editing!!! Loading, loading omg 😂 and then the "wtf" at 9:30 too. Good stuff
😂😂😂😂
What makes your play style so charismatic and entertaining to watch is your ability to improvise around your basic kit while taking on Goliath arrangements with all the humorous ad-libs of a stand up comedian. 😂🤗
Thanks for being you Sir and keep up the Groove... farther. 😎💪👍
*Yes, I meant exactly how I said it.* 😉
Danny Carey, Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, Keith Moon, Niel Peart, Jay Weinberg, Clay Aeschliman. Any solo breakdown from some of my favourite drummers.
No bonham ? 😕
No joey?
I knew I was going to forget some guys. That's why I said some of my favorite drummers.
Jay only has a solo from 2014 and he has quadruple the ability NOW than what he was 8 years ago... idk why he doesn't do solos in the live shows like the old days
Brooks wackerman
What makes you great is the wonderful attitude. Oh yeah, the drumming is unmatched too. 🤘🏼😆🤘🏼
This is a great video. Feels like I am finally just hanging out with my favorite drummer...talking about another favorite drummer. Hope to see more like this. Cheers buddy
"Ok, we can do that. I think those are singles, right?"
Siberiano, El Estepario
2022
this is a dream come true--two of my favorite drummers. loving the format breaking down the solo. cheers to the best! thanks as always for primo content.
Your honesty is truly refreshing.
And to see all these AMAZING drummers like Mario or Portnoy actually comment on your videos is mind blowing 🤯
Thank you so much for your excellent content 🙏🏼
I've started showing it to my son as well
This is one of the best drum analysis videos I saw so far. Just by watching and listening you break it down. Your dedication, analysis and hard working is absolutely amazing. I hope to see you live with a band one day! 🤘🎶🖖
Bro I love you for this! I’m playing these solos for my junior recital for college and you REALLY helped me with these tricky sections! Love you man! Thanks a lot! ❤️🙏
I love seeing your thought process behind learning something so complicated. Like you, I never learned formally on a drum kit. I used my ears. It's very encouraging to see that everything is achievable with enough practice and time.
This was so much fun to watch, and your humble narration is one of the reasons we love you. Thanks for picking Mario for this one! Huge fan of you and Gojira!
I've done vocals for over 20 years death metal, heavy metal, hip hop, I know it's funny when I say I don't have rhythm being I'm a singer yet my Cadence is odd, that being said I never really cared much for drums, yet I do love and respect drummers, and some of the times I build my words off of the drums . Yet I've recently came across you, and just something about you , i.e. your personality and your amazing understanding of drums have really drawn me in to your world. I'm like fending out on your videos. Any vocalist to be lucky enough to do a song with you is truly lucky. I'd love to chat sometime with you and just vibe through our energy and love of music and life. Keep it up homie, you're the beez knees.
Mario Duplantier, best of the best, "Buenos Aires/Luna Park 28.8" IT WAS THE SHEEEEET , we love him.
What a great sense of true humbleness. Love and respect your work!
I'm cracking up here. I love this so much. Two of the greatest Drummers in my opinion. Alot of fun to watch side by side. And the analysis is hilarious. You rule Bro. And Mario.... Just UNBELIEVABLE. Been a fan since I first heard you.
I LOVE this content! Helping to break down a complex and amazing drum solo into more digestible bite size pieces, and looking into the thought process along the way. SO MUCH insight in just one video!! Muchas gracias mi amigo :)
it's really cool how you're able to naturally feel the intro (13/16 tom grooves with quarter note kicks under it, and then 13/16 left hand toms with 8th note overriding between floor tom and cowbell!) without knowing exactly what time it is in, I'm curious how you approach learning some of the prog covers you've done where the timing changes constantly if you prefer to not worry about specific time signatures as you learn complex music. Do you break things down into these linear tiny groups of notes (like you did here with the 1 2 1-2 1 2 3 punches) and just not worry about the overall time signature since counting the pulse allows for playing by feel? I've noticed in some covers you vocalize the music you're playing along to when you get really into it, does that also help you initially learn complex music quickly?
Knowing that he's overriding 8ths between cowbell and floor (that's what Gavin Harrison calls it, idk if there's a correct term) in 13/16, that means that insane snare/kick patterning going on at 16:15 is hard to figure out because it alternates from starting on a cowbell, then a 16th between cow and floor, then on a floor, then between a floor and cow, repeat if I'm understanding it correctly (also never heard this before). I love seeing your approach to stuff in these videos, really interesting stuff!
8:37 I will always watch all of your f&@king videos my friend 😂🤣. I love the way you break it all down. Keep doing what you do. You have the best content.
Great video, I love how you truly show how difficult the techniques and grooves are within this solo without just reviewing it so casually like so many other people would. Your facial expressions and reactions don't lie. Good stuff!
You are awesome dude thanks for spending so much time practicing
This is absolutely hilarious. Besides Estepario's genius he is also one hell of a funny guy!
Ohhh yeaaa!!!!
He's got fabulous humor
Love this guy bro. I seen him for the first time probly a week ago. Definitely a hit!!
It's amazing to watch you work, you're truly gifted
You are my favorite drummer of all time at this point. These videos and your personality are genius and amazing. I check in every day for a new one, and I’m captivated by your dedication, your increasing skill, and your passion for the craft. I am also a big fan of Carter Beauford of the Dave Matthews Band. Would be very curious to see you react to him. He’s not metal, but I think you could break down his style for those of us that are learning more from you than any lessons we’ve ever had. Bless you sir!!!! Gonna hit the merch, I’ve wanted the groovefather sweatshirt so bad! Keep it up!!!!!!
Siempre sorprendiendo!. Saludos
You are, by far, one of the most talented and captivating musicians!
I absolutely love your level of humility. You freely give respect to other players. Bravo. You’re awesome.
Hell yeah dude! I love this type of video- showing the process of learning a song and trying to figure it out without being some music school and using fancy terms that a lot of people don’t know. Thank you! Hope to see more like this.
I'm not even a Drummer but I could watch your videos All Day Lol. You are an Extreme talented dude & still remain Humble & good hearted even giving credit to others which is totally respectable. You are correct a person can be the most talented but if they are arrogant about it or have a crappy attitude that's what turns people off.. Great job 👏
The sad thing is, for many, this arrogance builds into a high wall that separates them from others, but the higher it gets, it also blocks their way to becoming even better!
It was a great video to watch as a bassist, this guy is such an inspiration
Truly a pleasure to watch and listen to you process and play. And with humor and humility. Thanks man!
What a joy to watch and the fact you give each other mutual respect is amazing for all us drummers out there, big love to all you woodchoppers x
I love that you're putting more of yourself being you in the videos!
This was such a great video man, thanks for being so honest and vulnerable with your audience, love your work 🤙
Watching these videos with the subtitles is definitely aiding in my Spanish learning. Love it. Quality content as always, my dude!
I love how you still remain humble. You are for sure on the top but you still keep yourself calm and recognizing others for their greatness. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Mario makes any Drummer Humble my dude
@@watchlistenlearn Yeah! So true!
You are so awesome yet so humble, an absolutely cool human being. Mario is a beast of a drummer and I find it amazing that you will still take time to show us how some of the work is done.
Watching your videos has helped me in my own technique and I've definitely been seeing a difference in my performance. Thanks for always giving such quality content, keep it up!
Awesome job brother! Literally watch them play this yesterday live at the Good things festival here in Brisbane Australia!
I think he is able to play such complex parts as Tooth and Claw, and other tough songs because he doesn't freak. He works the maze backward by starting at the least common denominator and working out. Now, that said, I would love to see how he attacks Jarzombek's stuffs. Mad Data race, the Bambi song, Mosquito Brain Surgery, etc. These are hard because there are no patterns, it is bar by bar, chaos.
Ok...this is my first comment on any of this guy's videos and I'm not mention anything about his playing... that shit speaks for itself..I wanna say how much fun I have watching his videos cuz this dude just has the best sense of humor ever. I come away smiling after watching his videos and it's like a really smart witty sense of humor as ..it's so refreshing to see he's got to be just the shit to hang out with. Thanks for being such a positive presence. Just a stand up guy..... that joke he did about Ghrols intro being as easy as your mom had me cracking up for days. He literally stops mid vid to make this joke....lol.. classic. I came back for like 3 days just see that again. ..😂
The way you break this solo down into parts that are easier to understand the basic idea of how it works is amazing! You and Mario both have inspired me to learn to play the drums, there will be a long road ahead for learning and I will look back to this video for renewed sense of purpose. Much love
👆👆Hey thanks for watching and leaving a message I really appreciate it I have something special for you🎁📦🎁....
Man! Your positivity and energy just made this complex piece of Mario’s quantum mechanics based drumming skills simple and understandable. Keep up keeping up!
A Real pleasure to watch this! Gojira rules!
I LOVED this video, Duplantier is a beast and you are very close, dude. I would love if you had a video about one of Trivium's Alex Bent drum playthroughs
I really like Alex Bent, he's a very creative drummer (much like Mario Duplantiér). It would be amazing if he were to make a video like this for Alex Bent!
I was hoping for some content including Mario Duplantier - awesome video, thank you!
This video made my day. Every time i watch you playing i say holy shit. Your the most real genuine dude I’ve ever seen on any UA-cam video. You have be really good to even have the balls to make this content. I would love to see you two guys have a drum battle. Make it happened. I would pay money to see that shit.
Its about time we get reaction content with actual breakdowns where the viewers can learn and apply what we see.
Thank you, looking forward to the next one!
@@Flooddrum and even if they do, would be nice to see them apply it even if super slowed down so they can actually play it
Absolutely Amazing. Love your videos As a drummer you just unlocked some very nice work
Just phenomenal ! I like you work and this is awesome trying to play Mario’s drum solo. Well done dude.
Genial!!!!
Into the storm es uno de los drum cover que falta en tu repertorio mirmano!!!
You're insane. Love your dedication and craft.... skills!
Man I just stumbled upon your channel last week and had big fun. I had drums before but quit it. I like your vibe, nothing taking it tooo serious. Keep up the good work!
A big respect to El Estepario Siberiano as a professional drummer, he is also kind n very down to earth ❤❤❤
You both have so much talent its amazing to watch
Excellent job on the breakdown and explanation of the solo which by the way was top knoch. I enjoy your work and appreciate what u do keep it up homie!🤙🏼
Really appreciate his teaching style "Wow that's really fucked up and too hard to learn, maybe let's try together and see what happens." then proceeds to dissect the solo into bite size pieces. Bravo Sir
Mario is a drum god, right now it is him and Danny Carey! One thing that separates Mario from the pack is that he is very unpredictable and as a drummer you can only appreciate his thought process on each song. Very challenging to emulate. I am happy i got to live in a time where we have had some great drummers!!
Only seen this now, what an extremely wholesome video. You are so direct and honest in how you speak, love it.
Maaan I just love everyting about your videos.. The way you present, choice of words, edit, your persona. Its great!
Stay awesome.
Would love to see you dig into poly rhythms in the future.
My man El Estepario Siberiano, please cover the art of dying! Or if you have the energy cover in the forest
Anyways I’m pumped for this
One of the best videos I've ever seen like this - can't even tell you how how amazing you are. Cheers!
Your content is top tier. I've been playing since I was ten and you and one other are my go to's for when I'm getting a drum content fix. Rock on
You are truly one of the best drummers ever and I love your humbleness and that you are an encouragement to all!! 😎
You know Mario would humble him right
Very cool! I really enjoyed watching your take on Mario’s solo! Thank you
I will never stop loving the feel of that groove. I love polymeters, because you can choose to feel them in so many different ways. Closed. Open. On. Off.
I would love to see your reaction to Evgeny Novikov
Some parts reminded me on the epic drumsolo of my youth when we had to share things on lanpartys or with cd. It was played by Mike mangini and just mind-blowing to see the first one handed snarerolls of my life and those powerfull tom grooves. I like it a lot
A humble master. Means a real master. I have no idea about drums (played guitar) but I watched the whole clip. So refreshing. Thank you, Sir!
Well said, brother
"Im gonna break this down for you"
*a few moments later*
"Ok now we are fucked!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Congrats on everything man. You're just an incredible player offering us great content consistently. 👏
You guys both blow me away. Fabulous stuff
Great reaction video. I knew this solo was complex, but I did not get the depth of complexity until you broke it down section by section, and hadn't thought about the stamina required to perform from beginning to end. Respect to both of you!
This was so fun and helpful, Steve! Sick AF.
You are the best.. love everything you do and say .. love your personality and I just wish i could one day play like you.... Don't ever stop.. El Estepario .. Love U MAN!
So much dedication here. Great video!
Ufff... what a solo and how difficult is to try to split it to explain it... wow 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 To both of you
Mario Duplantier is the one drummer in the world I just can't get my head around.
I just love watching and hearing such masterful musicians! They bring a kind of joy and connection to the maths of the universe that most of us can only dream of if we're lucky. It doesn't mater what instrument or what kind of music. It is the flawlessly executed translation of something (?!?!?!?) in their mind and we are all the beneficiaries.
I think music is the most perfect language that humans have achieved.
Respect!!!! Thank you for your commentary on Mario who I am a new fan of bc of YOU!
