Im still livin in the 70's and this is the kind of rock n roll carrys me through ✌
Burton Cummings, one of the best power voices of the sevenies, sounds great here
Wow, excellent performance by the Guess Who!
I bought my first Guess Who album in 1982 when I was 15. They soon became one of my favorite bands.
Way to go Johnny, for having the best band ever on your show.
So cool! Makes me proud to be Canadian
I love how Johnny cash doesn't even have to try to sing. Dudes natural voice was perfect for his music. N the guess who was amazing
Spear Pig
That is an excellent observation! Who would have ever thought that the Guess Who would appear on the Johnny Cash Show! This is mind-blowing! I nominate The Guess Who for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
@@ogredad55 i would of loved to of seen them back in their heyday. Burtons voice was amazing
@@spearpig1034 Most definitely, pal! Burton sang even better "LIVE" than on the albums! I wish I had a video of the Magic that unfolded that night. It was mind-altering!
@@ogredad55 you're a lucky guy my friend! Must of been a great time to be alive!
Saw them in 78!!! Great band!!!
Absolutely ridiculous The Guess Who is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And I am an American and I remember back in those days in the early 70s a lot of guess who are being played on the American Airwaves
Who cares? The rock hall is just an institution with a good name. It's no different than a Grammy, Peoples Choice Award, Kids Choice, VMA, or whatever. Any group or business could create a list of the best "rock" groups in history, and it would serve the same purpose. Ultimately meaningless.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not legit.
Well if they are not in this world's, they are in the next
They should be in the RRHF!!! Brilliant band!!!!

The Man in Black introducing one of my favourite bands. Love Burton Cummings' voice. Love the backing vocals. What a sound!❤
This has to be my favorite group. I grew up listening to them even when Burton had a solo thing going. Just never had the honor to see them or even Burton perform live he is phenomenal talent. Wish I could see him before I leave this earth.
Me too They were phenomenal talent
I grew up just a few hours from Winnipeg and they pretty much made that town their second home. I have seen them many times over the years, both as a group and as solo acts. I hope you get to see them live at some point as both Bachman and Cummings are incredible live acts.
The best!!! All-Time Live Performance of ANY BAND on UA-cam EVER
Made me become a fan of The Guess Who
Watch it over and over again
WOW!! Few singer's with Burton's vocal dexterity. His live performances were always note perfect and delivered with improvisation and clever word play. Not unlike a guitarist who never repeated the same solo. He was at the peak of his powers in 1970. Tremendous backing vocals and Kale in particular.
Dear russallert - My Favorite Band of All Time! It was Awesome being only 10 feet away from Burton as he sang, leaning over the stage and driving the girls into a frenzy! He was much better "LIVE" than he was on the records, wow! 1971 Rocked!
Saw them in at the Norfolk, VA Scope in 1972. After playing a myriad of no name songs, Cummings took the mic and said….”People pay good money to see and hear a group play their popular hits…. We’ll tough shit”…… Lots got up and left. I stayed and they played all their hits at the time.
I was 15 when I watched this on TV. They were SO GOOD.
What an awesome find! I watched this on the original airing in 1970. It was the first time I'd seen what any of these band members looked like.
Powerful performance! I remember as a kid, watching the Johnny Cash show, he was so cool and progressive and had rock groups like the Guess Who as guests! Burton Cummings and the Guess Who in live performance that's rock and roll at its best!
Johnny, Burton and the Manitoba crew. Mind blown !!!
The Guess Who! What can you say, they were an awesome group & had so many great hits...
Share the land, one of my favorites!!!!
How amazingly relevant for the world we are currently living!
Shout out to my home city Winnipeg! My Grandmother grew up with members of this band, hearing and seeing this makes me think of her. Wish they still made good music like this. Rock on!
Great singer. Great band. Great songwriting. I still listen to the Guess Who ALOT. Their music is timeless. Love it. Takes me back to 1970's
Check out BURTON tune

They were awsome . thanks johnny cash. Thank you to our southern big brother U.S.A.From your nothern little brothers and sisters good old Canada.we love you man.we have your back in peace and war.🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I have watched many video clips of classic rock bands, back in the day, and they tend to always be lip synching. In this video THE GUESS WHO is NOT lip synching. They appear to be 100% live and they nail that tune spot on.
An impressive video. They say Johnny led his show in a live format, incorporating all sorts of opportunities from that. This is one. I have CCR albums where they pre-recorded their "live" TV appearances since it was so hard to cut them precisely into smaller, time-managed pieces. Here the Guess Who make it look easy.
A criminally underated band.
