- "Get Ready" is a Motown song written by Smokey Robinson, which resulted in two hit records for the label: a U.S. No. 29 version by The Temptations in 1966, and a U.S. No. 4 version by Rare Earth in 1970. Their 45 RPM single version sold in excess of a million U.S. copies, earning Rare Earth a Gold certification from the RIAA. (Wikipedia)

Im 66 years old and still lishening this great band im from the philippines
I'm 61 myself and have never been able to escape the music of the 60's and 70's. Nothing since has touch or affected me like it did back then, thus why I continue to listen to it.
60 years, 9 month and 10 days here ;-) When I was a kid I heard shit like this on AFN Nuremberg, the biggest AFN station outside the US. And it programmed my head forever 🥰
You are so right ! Nothing compares and never will ! From an avid listener of the same Genre @ 73 Y O🤒
Same here, and a little older. There is STILL so much good music from the 50's through the 70's that I've never heard before. There is no reason for me to waste time with the synthetic garbage that's being put out there today and in recent years. Let them choke on Taylor Swift but I won't be me.
I too.
I am 46 and feel the same. :)
How can one get tired of music that only sounds better & better with time, like fine wine. This is NOT an opinion, it's a FACT..
@Mr-Woo. Yes, it's your OPINION. Stop telling everyone what music they should like. No-one has heard of this band.
@@paulchristie3306
If no one's ever heard of this band, why are there over 600K views, huh?? Doesn't look like nobody to me!! And what were YOU doing here, then?? I'm not telling ANYBODY what music to like. Everyone decides that for themselves, obviously. You must be yet another lame. There's sooo many of u guys..

Have the original LP! And it will never be sold....This is a classic...
I have half of the double album albeit the "wrong" half
I fondly remember those days when we sat cross-legged together and circled a water pipe in a group while Rare Earth music played loudly on the stereo. It was always a great time!
Sounds so epic.

They didn't stick around too long
@@cosmo1eleven855 Are you kidding? This band has been playing up until 2022 when the last original member passed. They released a new album back in 2006. They are in the Michigan r & R legends hall of fame as they were from Michigan.
@@curtzeek8818 ...what I meant was they didn't have many top selling albums early on.
Tocan muy bien pero sus ventas en discos ellos los compraron, ha si que no vendían sus grabaciones.
@@cosmo1eleven855 they made great music tho. If you were a fan back then you followed their career. I did the same with other bands. I followed Savoy Brown until Kim Simmonds passed. Until then tho, they were the longest running blues band in the world. I did the same with Canned Heat but that was a very tragic story. It's all good tho.
Un véritable chef d'oeuvre musicale, et que de souvenirs, regrets qu une telle période soit éphémère. Magistrale

63 now. Bought the live double album when it came out. Yeah the knapsack cover. Still got it with plastic cover. Best music came out in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. Glad to have grown up in that era., when the music was real and your spirit was free loving. From pmburg, south Africa. The best years of our lives ❤️😊
The Flames
I'm 73 and i have that Album too. I saw them in concert opening for Sly and the Family Stone. They played for an hour. Sly was late and when they did show he was so stoned that we booed him off the stage. Rare Earth came back at and played another hour. Madison square garden, NYC
And the country of South Africa was much better then than it is now..
"Cry the Beloved Country" was was required reading in high school here in the States back in the day (some parts at least) and I find the language fascinating to this day. Musta been kind of an underground rock scene there back then, or no?
Best Rock and Roll Motown band ever 😊
Are they really from Detroit I lived in the Ditty D in the 70s
For SURE!👌♥️🎶
Danced to this song with a pretty 14 yr old, i was 16 . Good times . The studio version.

I was pooping yellow when I first heard Rare Earth. Now at 66 I'm still pooping yellow... Rock N Roll
I hope it was Mellow Yelllow you pooped. Great song and great music never dies.🤘😎
😅 i lived back in those years. The music was great. I heard that song in vietnam.
Thanks for your service brother! Remember holding my GF by the ass and dancing to this tune!
Welcome Home!✌️♥️
People now can't even image how bad ass this was or what is t was or why it ever existed. The world is =0 for a lack of it now. Rocked up full blown R+B . Like wheres the flow man? Song is the flow and the flow is one with the song. Strange how far removed from curtentusical trends. It not anything like not just just your grand parents music.
My first big rock show. Blew me away. That is music!
Me too! Oakland Coliseum 1972. Was 16. Earth, Wind & Fire opened for them.
@@roncardenas2963I absolutely love EW&F band too, lucky you. Saw them open for Van Halen and they blew them off the stage!
I saw them play this song back in 1970, "Winter Pop" in Toronto, Canada. What a great rendition of a great tune.

I was 15 years old in 1970 and had just started playing drums the year before so yeah, this was a hugely popular song (the long version) for me and my bandmates. This LP, along with Chicago's "I'm a man" went scratchy rather quickly. Thanks (from Amsterdam, The Netherlands) for the upload.

Está canción allá por los 70 ya rompía. 20 minutos. La cabeza no sabía si era mia o la de la piba. Entre la mucica mesclada con otros condimentos. Era fast.
A very strong, complex and cruel version of the Smokey Robinson´s classic. GREAT !!

In those times a song could last for years. I remember dancing to that in 1973/74, along with "Going home" from Ten Years After or Papa Was a Rolling Stone by the Temptations. Going Home was sports training and this one set me in trance - somehow ;-)
Pretty damn good for white dudes doing a Motown song!

Porqué? Bueno hoy la música no existe
Because today they use computer and not Heart
It's no longer the same mindset as we had in the 60s & early 70s, not that we don't have some fine players out there these days , you just have to search for them & like the old days get turned on to bands & players from friends as you just won't hear this music in full on any radio station even the ones you have to pay for. As a long time guitar player i would like to share a track i did back in my school days but didn't get to record it till 87 & on a 4 track Reel to Reel . Please give a listen if you would & feel free to leave me a comment . I have that old mindset still. ROCK ON !!!! ua-cam.com/video/RHj04fFTrZI/v-deo.html
