Ha! Thank you all so much for checking out my classic comedy music video. Glad you found it funny and enjoyed it. Thanks!
This brought back so many fantastic memories from my youth. I would go to bed and secretly listen to this on my Walkman well past bedtime. I remember that cassette tape had "Turn Your Radio On" and no one has ever performed it better. Thanks for the good times, Mr. S.
Aw, Ray you are one of my favorites! I'm so happy to see that you saw this!
We love you Ray!
All the best to you, Mr. Stevens! Lots of good memories come back when I hear this song, and it's great to see a younger generation discover it.
Ray Stevens' work is comedic musical gold.
"The Streak" and "It's Me Again, Margret" are along these lines. "Everything Is Beautiful" is his hug to the world.
And "Settin' Up with the Dead" ! No one ever reacts to that! Love Ray so much!
I like those and "Furthermore" as well
You guys forgot to mention "Wildwood Flower" 😉😉
The Streak was my first introduction to Ray Stevens so as much as I love many of his songs, that one is my favorite.
don't forget The Blue Cyclone
I love Ray Steven's.
I'm a pastor.
I'm afraid of a squirrel getting lose in our church. 😂
It does happen pastor.
ua-cam.com/video/3I15VenaKZA/v-deo.html
But do yall have a Sister Bertha Betterthanyou? 🤣🤔
I am a pastor too as well as a fan of Ray Steven’s. Perhaps we need a squirrel or two to get loose in some of our churches 😃
@rachelkristine4669 I think a lot of churches do, but it's for sure that they have an " Amen Pew" I know ours did because that's where my parents sat! 😂
I don't think that they do. But I was born and raised in the USA's "Bible Belt" and these churches do. Since the church portrayed in this video is obviously Protestant, I was referring to that church community. No offense was intended.
Ray Stevens wore a lot of different hats. One of them was telling funny stories through song. He's one of the gems of old school country music.
I have one of Ray's audio tapes (in a 2000 Ford F250 that still has an audio tape player to go with the CD player!) that has made quite a few road trips a bunch shorter than they would have been. One thing you need to keep in mind when you're listening to a Ray Stevens song... that boy ain't right!! He's a really good piano player and just about the time he gets into a beautiful song and it's just coming out so pretty it takes a left turn into something funny that just destroys that beautiful mood. He can't get all the way through a song without doin' something strange before the end! 😂🤣
Ray Stevens was fun…remember his catchy witty songs especially The Streak 😂
Yes! The Streak has to be next!
Fastest thing on 2 feet.
@@joeapicelli8367 don’t look Ethel 🤣
Lol great song! Forgot about that one! 😂
Yeah, ah did.
Ray Stevens is noted for his "novelty" songs. His first hit record was "Ahab The Arab", then "Gitarzan", "The StreaK', "I Saw Elvis In A UFO", "Shriner's Convention". He can sing a serious song like "Everything Is Beautiful" and "Misty!"
Oh yes, yes, yes!
That's the list!
Yea, he has been around longer than Weird Al. One he sang but didn't write that I love is Three-Legged Man. It was written by Shel Silverstein who also wrote A Boy Named Sue for Johnny Cash, and the children's poems that I grew up on that are now being banned in schools in the US.
"Shriner's convention" is my favorite of his songs.
He also did pretty good with a ccver of You Are So Beautiful, but it's definitely his comedy that's best known. I didn't even know Everything is Beautiful and the Streak were by the same guy for years.
@@ragabashmoon1551 Shel wrote most of Doctor Hook's early and best songs.
Roy Stevens is a national treasure. This was one of my favorite songs as a kid.
Ry Stevens is AWESOME. He has many funny ones but, he REALLY has a beautiful voice!
This is my FAVORITE Ray Stevens song. The Streak is also hilarious. But if you want to hear him really sing, listen to Everything is Beautiful.
I said "Don't LOOK, ETHEL!!" but it was too late.
my thoughts exactly
Mine too! This guy is hysterical.
Everything is Beautiful is so lovely. He is hilarious but also has a great voice.
Turn Your Radio On is another beautiful Ray Stevens song to listen to.
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Everything Is Beautiful", "The Streak" and "Misty"!! Nice backing choir on "Everything Is Beautiful" ( a serious song).
Ray Stevens is a really good singer. He has good comedy songs but his non comedy music is amazing
Another song is It's Me Again, Margaret
the Streak is hillarious they do need to react to it
It’s Me Margaret is so funny! But not all of his are funny. Just most of them! More Ray Stevens please! ❤️
You can't forget "Shriner's Convention". If you've ever seen the Shriners and their antics in local parades, you'll love the song.
Ray Stevens is a legend and a National Treasure of comedy!
He won a Grammy for "Everything is Beautiful". Great song.
His serious Hit was "Everything is Beautiful", which was the Number 1 song on the charts for two weeks in 1970, and earned Ray two Grammy awards.
This is a song you should react to.
Not sure how, but I forgot all about Everything is Beautiful til I read this. But being a child in the 70's, I think Ray Stevens I think The Streak
Ray Stevens is a very talented singer, writer, producer. His songs include Ahab the Arab and Guitarzan.
My parents used to have an 8 track cassette of silly songs called “Dumb Ditties” which had a bunch of Ray Stevens songs on it. Guitarzan, Ahab The Arab, and Bridget The Midget I remember were on there for sure.
The tape also had other silly songs on it like Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polkadot Bikini, Purple People Eater, The Witchdoctor, Mister Bass Man, Here Comes The Judge, Sylvester and Tweety, The Monster Mash, Who Put The Bop, and My Dingaling, just to name a few.
I loved that 8track when I was a kid. Too bad it ended up getting ruined years later. That thing was a classic. I don’t think it has ever been transferred to CD format, which is a shame.
One of my strongest childhood memories is driving to summer school and listening to "Freddie Feel Good" on the radio. Thanks Ray, you touched me and many others with your humor..
Ray Stevens is a classic. So many funny songs and some really good serious ones. The man does it all! Still going strong!
His song "Everything is Beautiful" is meaningful and the message is timeless.
My favourite plus also loved all the silly songs, Misty was also great showed of his great voice.
good recommendation
“Turn your radio on” good too 👍
"Funny Man" is ironically, another great serious song of his that shows off his true talent
Ray Stevens is a comedic treasure with a large catalog of great songs.
Amen sista
More Ray Stevens PLEASE! He started out as a gospel singer before moving to comedy. Please look for "Help me make it through the night", "Sittin up with the dead", and "The Streak".
Ray stevens is amazing all of his songs are great.
'Sittin up with the dead' is one of his most hysterical songs ever. Also love 'The Streak', 'Guitarzan', and 'I saw elvis in a UFO'.
Sitting up with the Dead is one of my favorite novelty tracks of all time
Yesssss And I’m my own grandpa
Fred
Dudley DoRight of the Highway Patrol
I'm My Own Grandpa
Ray Steven's- brilliant songwriter and performer. Check out all his stuff.
When I was a teenager I bought The Streak, on vinyl, for my 60 year old grandfather who lived in Akansas and went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. He blushed a little and thoroughly enjoyed it.
My father who grew up in Dundalk Ireland and moved us all to the states in 1973 felt an incredible affection for Ray Stevens. When he first heard this song he laughed so hard he was crying which had us laughing and crying. Beautiful memory. Thanks Ray and R.I.P. Daddo.😂 We miss you.
Ray Stevens is a story teller from days gone by-- great to see a new generation enjoying him!!
I grew up with Ray Stevens. Absolutely love him. It was the soundtrack to many a family trip. Ray Stevens is known for "Everything Is Beautiful" which is a straight song. He does have a few of those, but he found his niche in the funny songs. "The Streak ", "It's Me Again Margaret ", "The Haircut", "Juanita", and "The Shriner's Convention" are all examples of songs like this one.
I love Ray Stevens. This is my favorite, It's me again Margaret is a close second. And let's not forget The Streak.
I have so many memories of riding around with my grandfather on car trips, and listening to Ray Stevens cassettes. He’s basically the “Weird Al” Yankovic of country music.
Yep. And he was and is a damn treasure
Yes, but Ray has been doing it a lot longer then Wierd Al....
@@js3599 I mean Ray was born in 1939 and Al in 1959. So that's kind of a given just based on ages.
The Weird Al of country is actually Cledus Judd because they both do parodies of existing songs. Ray Stevens does original comedy songs
Exactly.
Back in the 90s, our elementary school coach would play the Ray Stevens VHS tape on rainy days. Good memories
Randy Stevens has one of the most beautiful songs ever, "everything is beautiful." It's not a comedy and his voice is amazing.
Now you need to react to some of his other songs like "Guitarzan", "Ahab The Arab", "The Streak" are among his best.
RAY is known as the comedy king of Nashville!
My dad (RIP) absolutely *loved* Ray Stevens - I can't hear one of his songs without thinking of him. :) Thank you for reacting to this!
LOVE ME SOME RAY STEVENS ANYDAY!!!! He is sooooooooo good - you just GOT to dive into his catalogue!!!! His "Shriner's Convention" "The Streak" & Ahab the Arab" and just so many more!!! So many to choose from!! He did do some serious & even won a Grammy!!!
Ray Stevens is one of the underrated all-time greats. His biggest hit was "The Streak." "Streaking" was a brief fad in the 1970s.
A fantastic one-two combo would be a reaction to "The Streak," follower by an introduction to legendary southern comedian/storyteller Jerry Clower and "The New Fad," his bit on how streaking was nothing new - "New fad? That ain't no new fad." "Oh? What did they call it when you were growing up?" "Runnin' nekkid!" 😆
I was *very* lucky to see him in concert. He is definitely a lot of fun. Yes, he is mainly a comedic story telling singer. He has some great stuff, but he's probably most popular for The Streak. So happy you enjoyed this one, and it made you smile!
He's still got his own cabaret in Nashville. Still going
My mother and I went to see him when we still lived back in Nashville. Had a blast.
Gitarzan, Ahab the Arab, plus many more.
Ray Stevens is a great storyteller.
This song is fantastic! Ray Stevens is an extremely famous songwriter!
Love Ray Stevens, “The Streak”, “It’s me again Margaret” & “I’m my own Grandpa” are some of his novelty songs that I remember listening to as a kid!
Yes! Although, "I'm my own Grandpaw" isn't his, it was originally from the late 40's, I still like his version best.
Ray Stevens has a ton of funny songs.
Thank you for introducing Ray Stevens to a new generation. Most kids today have no idea of the incredibly rich history of country and rock that existed when I grew up. I won't say how old I am, but I remember black and white TV, and flew across the Pacific on a propeller driven DC-7.
Ray Stevens is a legend!
Comedic songs are Ray Steven's niche in the music world, but "Everything is Beautiful" is a testament to how good a singer he truly is.
Ray Stevens is a gifted songwriter and musician, as well as a great storyteller and comic. Definitely react to "The Streak" and "The Shriner's Convention". (and for Christmas, "Santa Claus is Watching You"). He's an American treasure, for certain. Love the reaction, as always.
Ray Stevens is a mix of comedy and serious. One of his most popular song is "Everything is Beautiful". One awards.
Ray Stevens is one of the funniest singers. Love him.
He also sang, "Sittin' Up With The Dead" He was so much fun!
Oh, yeah. I forgot about that one.
Ray was (and is) a rare talent, who could go from serious to not-at-all-serious in a heartbeat. If you want to check out his more mainstream hits, do "Everything is Beautiful". He also had numerous novelty songs, including "The Streak", "Gitarzan", "I Need Your Help Barry Manilow" and "Shriners Convention".
Oh yes! I forgot about Gitarzan 🤣
Shiner's Convention is a weird one, but a good one. The Streak is one you should listen to before you listen to Everything is Beautiful.
"Gitarzan"
😂😂😂😂🤣
Ray Stevens is legendary for his comedic songs with a country flair like “The Streak”, “Ballad Of The Blue Cyclone”, and “Shriner’s Convention”. His lone serious song, “Everything Is Beautiful “ won his lone Grammy I believe.
EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL !!!
He is mostly known for his comedic songs. He was highly educated, and wrote many serious pieces. He cobucted orchestras too.I have always loved his insightful songs! 😇😇😇
Conducted,sorry.
He IS highly educated. since you wrote this in the past tense I thought he had died and I had missed it! I had to google him, thankfully he is still here.
@@sassmacfru Sadly, his wife died not too long ago. But, yes, Ray is still with us
If I remember correctly, he is also a minister.
Ray Stephen's has a long line of songs just like this. My favorite is Sitting Up With Dead. It is hysterical. Worth a lesson😅
Ray Stevens is the country Weird Al Yankovick.❤😊
Except he doesn't do parody.
Hes a real classic. Thats all he does. Hes a story singer.
This song came out in the 1970's! Ray Stevens wrote and sang "The Streak"! The Streak was what encouraged some people to run through the towns naked! GREAT SONG WRITER AND SINGER!
Ray Stevens was definitely known for his comedy/novelty songs. You can get a feel for his actual musical abilities by listening to, “Everything Is Beautiful”.
Ray's version of "Misty" is really good. My husband called a radio station and asked them to play it for me on our anniversary one year. It's been our song since then. It's a more serious song that he actually sings (he has a good voice), so it's a departure from all his silly songs. "Everything is Beautiful" is another good one, but "Misty" is special to us.
You know, when I first heard Ray's version, I was pretty pissed off. I was a Johnny Mathis only version fan, but over the years it grew on me until I came to enjoy it.
@@johntiggleman4686
They should play Johnny Mathis's version of Misty.
Love that song.
Gotta do both versions back to back. 😅
Ray Stevens has made a living doing these kinds of songs. The Streak, It's Me Again Margaret, just look it up. LOL He's a genius.
New artist?!? I'm 60 and I remember listening to Ray Stephens when I was a kid.
Ray is a national treasure , he has wrote so many fun songs. Non funny is Misty and Everything is beautiful. Watch The Streak, Sitting up With the dead, It's me Again Margaret , Shriner Convention, and his cover of Lonzo and Oscar's I'm my Own Grand Paw - Family tree version. I have loved and enjoyed his music for decades
One of our favorite videos is I Ain't Sittin' Up With the Dead.
Ray Stevens is one of the funniest song writers ever. You must hear "The Streak", "Ahab, The Arab", and "Shriner's Convention". "The Battle of New Orleans" is a catchy tune about the War of 1812 and Andrew Jackson.
I like the hit version of "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton better, but Ray does a good job on it too, and the original by Jimmy Driftwood is also great.
Did Ray do a cover of Johnny Horton?
@@judithturner1593 Johnny Horton had a number one hit with The Battle of New Orleans in 1959. The original was written by Jimmie Driftwood and released in as a single in 1958. It had been released in 1957 on an album that was a collection of folksingers. The radio stations wouldn't play it because it had the words "hell" and "damn" in it!
So both Ray Stevens' and Johnny Horton's versions were covers of Jimmie Driftwoods song.
Ray also did his own follow-up version called "The New Battle of New Orleans" after hurricane Katrina.
You definitely have to catch Ray Stevens' "The Streak." Absolutely hilarious.
Back in the 1980's a man hosted a live radio show weekly on which he only played this type parodies etc. I looked forward to it as a teenager. THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SELECTIONS.
Oh WOW! I love Ray! Piano player, singer, song writer. A little trivia for you: Ray Stevens sings the opening theme song to the movie Cannonball Run. Which is a movie suggestion for you guys 😊. He has serious songs and always puts a smile on your face. And he has gospel songs as well. Thank you guys. And I am so glad you enjoyed this!
Cannonball run us hillarious and equally hard to find.
What!!...just happened in my life??....I love Ray Steven's from my childhood.....and I LOVE cannon ball run!...from my childhood.....are you telling me!...they are combined!!!!....holy....mother.........cheese and crackers what the???!!😅
@@matthewwoods5235 Yes! I know right?! I found that out a few years ago. I love that movie too.
@@michaeldavidfigures9842 You can find Cannonball Run 2 on UA-cam. LOL Haven't seen the original in forever
@Chance L that's crazy! Lol....never put that together!...so awesome.....I pulled it up right away hahahaha
His funniest song is “ THE STREAK”
Back when this came out people were actually streaking, taking off all their clothes and running through places naked!!
Ray Stevens is a one-of-a-kind storyteller! He began in the 1970s and has kept going ever since. "The Streak" is my favorite.
1950's We had the 45 of his Ahab the Arab and Saturday Night at the Movies in the early 60's.
I love, love, love this song. It always makes me giggle.😂
Growingup, I could't wait for the next Ray Stevens single to come out. He didn't disappoint.
Lol. So glad you did this. So stinking funny. The Streak is also hilarious!
He is known for his comedy songs but he has some very beautiful serious ones too. "Everything is Beautiful" is one of his most famous "serious" songs.
Everything is beautiful is a must listen. As you can guess the theme is “Everything is beautiful in its own way. “ It’s a message still relevant today.
Keep going with more Ray Stevens reactions
I will never forget when my child asked for a Ray Stevens video for Christmas. I thought where did I go wrong but it all worked out she just has an awesome sick sense of humor
That man can play EVERY instrument in the world! He is a great musician and writer.
What a pleasant surprise! Ray Stevens is one of the best comedic singers out there. I have been a fan of his for years.
The Streak, Sitting Up With the Dead, It’s Me Again Margaret, the hits just keep going.
This guy turned an old 20-30''s song into an absolute 70's Blockbuster with his banjo & upbeat tempo.....check it out, 'Misty by Ray Stevens' 😍
Ray Stevens is an amazing talent with his comical songs and his serious songs
For many decades Stevens has been known as the Clown Prince of pop/country music. Yet, he has a serious side and has put a number of passionate, deeply meaningful songs on the charts.
Ray's specialty has always been "novelty" songs like Guitarzan and The Streak. I still listen to Please, Mister Custer when I need a giggle. But he really does have a fine singing voice...he had a huge hit with Everything Is Beautiful.
Thank you for making me smile today! Ray is a National Treasure and a magnificent person!
I got my daughter a CD of all Ray Stevens videos when she was 4. ( long time ago). She loved it, played it to death. Everybody likes Ray Stevens. He's just plain funny.
Basically, if you bought a VHS player in the 90s, you bought a VHS tape of Ray Stevens' Greatest Hits. Brought me right back to my childhood!
A true treasure. You won't go wrong listening to anything by him.
"Eric the aweful" and "Deer Slayer" are some great hidden gems from Ray Stevens.
I grew up on Ray Stevens. We listened to his songs over and over!😂
“Juanita and the kids” is a MUST LISTEN by Ray Stevens! ❤
And the video is hilarious!
He has his own UA-cam channel as well. He doesn't block reactions and has even been known to leave his own comments on occasion. Mostly comedy story songs, but occasionally a non comedy one. He actually has a beautiful voice when he sings one.
Does he leave comments when people ask about "staying up with the dead"? Still get creeper out by that song.
@@loganshaw4527 The one that I specifically remember was on a reaction to "The Streak"...
Yeah, I love his patriotic songs, as WELL as his comedy. My husband and I used to listen to his songs together even BEFORE we were married, and we've been married for 45 years.
@@george217 that had to be a fun one to do a music video for.
@@juliebaker6969 even the funny USSR was like a beach Boys of russia.
I grew up on ray stevens.... still remember the road trips listening to all ray Steven's.
He put out a set of VHS tapes on TV in the late 80s, early 90s. Brings back childhood memories.
Ray Stevens is a treat for the ears. His songs have always brought a smile to my heart. If you like this song, you should give Jim Stafford's "Wildwood Weed"
“Santa Clause is Watchin’ You” is a must on the Christmas playlist! Also “It’s Me again, Margaret” , “The Streak” and “Ahab the Arab”
Ray Stevens is so funny, but does have some serious songs like everything is beautiful.
Ray Steven's was a comedy singer. More, more more🎉😂❤❤
I remember when this song came out , my father heard it while driving and said he had to pull over as he was laughing so hard at the song .
You're going to love this. He's a comedic singer but does serious too
I haven’t heard this in forever! So funny. Ray Stevens is always good for a smile.
I saw Ray live twice. He was great. His biggest hit was called Guitarzan. Also Everything Is Beautiful.
I am SO HAPPY that you got to Ray Stevens!!! He is Tremendous!!!
My very first album was a Ray Stevens album. I was 13. "Along Came Jones" was my favorite on it. ☮❤🎶
"Slow walking Jones. Slow talking Jones. Along came long, lean, lanky Jones..."
"Along Came Jones" made people say "and then?" with a laugh long before "Dude, Where's My Car?" LOL
Mr Ray Stevens has always been one of the best Bar None storytellers that ever came out the South EJOY YA"LL
When I was kid in the 70's we had all of Ray Stevens stuff on records and we wore those records out
You really have to appreciate how hard it is to write a song like this that will make people laugh and also enjoy the melody at the same time. Comedy is always hard to do
Ray Stevens is a national treasure. His stuff is amazing.
Ray Stevens holds a specials place in my childhood, I think i still have a cassette or two of his greatest hits.
While driving from New Hampshire to Washington state I played comedy tapes for my children so they didn’t argue over rock or country music. Best decision I ever made. Ray Stevens was really popular on the late 60s and 70s. Thanks for the memories.
