Haha! So glad you enjoyed watching my classic music video! Thank you very much!
The pleasure is all mine. If I have your permission could I please react to more?
@@TheDonsChannel Absolutely! "The Streak" was my biggest hit, sold over 5 million copies back in 1974. It's got some memorable phrases people still shout out at me!
Brilliant. I can't wait to check it out. Thank you very much Ray. You're a Gentleman
Oh my goodness! Ray Stevens! I remember watching the VHS tape with this video and several others as a kid. You were a huge part of my childhood!
Ray you the legend...love ya 💗🕊️
Ray Stevens is a national treasure. You can't stay sad when you watch him. He has a gift. God bless him.
Anyone that grew up in the rural south east of the USA can relate to this song. A squirrel loose in our little country churches would, indeed, cause a revival. Never know what and who the Lord might use to shake us up a bit.
As a regular church attendee myself, I feel free to say that the best line of all in this song is the name of the church: "The First Self-Righteous Church of Pascogoula". Love it!
Ray Stevens is hilarious! I think people forget that he's really a very good singer!!!
"It's Me Again Margaret", "Sittin' Up With The Dead" & "The Streak" are great too.
He sings the song Every thing is beautiful. Serious song very good.
@@sharrontaylor5448 It is very good, his song "Misty" is good too.
Yes! All 3 songs.
It’s me again Margaret gets me every time.
@@janacox6436 Me too. One of the best obscene phone calls ever!! LOL!
“The shriner’s convention” by Ray Stevens is also very good.
How did you get that big motorcycle up there?
😃
"It's me again, Margaret".
Coy?! Where HAAAAVE you been?!!!
Shriner's Convention is my personal favorite. Grandpa and Dad were both Shriner's, makes me think of them and just grin.
The Streak was his first.
Dear Scottish Guy, I just want to say I had forgotten about Ray Stevens and his songs, but listening to this gave me the first good laugh I've had in several months. Due to my health problems and a sick dog, I've been on a worry streak for a while. This broke it and gave me a good hard laugh. Thanks.
Have you heard of Jerry Clower? He doesn’t do songs but he is a old fashioned clean comedian and is wonderful
so want to meet that man
Don't forget he sings( everyone is beautiful.
All the ones named in the comments are awesome, but I'm surprised nobody's giving any love to "Along Came Jones", which is a fantastic comedy rendition of the old American Wild West movie serials. Check it out!
I agree. But some love needs to go to the haircut song. ua-cam.com/video/1PnIuo4diqY/v-deo.html
I’ve heard this song a thousand times, but never heard “The First Self Righteous Church”. Always assumed he was saying “South Baptist” because that was what I expected
Same-O Same-o, No?
I grew up listening to Ray Stevens, and I even got to see him live in Branson, MO when I was 15 or so. 'It's Me Again Margaret' and 'The Streak' are two of my favorites.
Me too!
Me 3 . lol remember don't look Ethel?
He is so funny! I grew up listening to him on the radio. His "Quarantine Song" is pretty good, too.
... Ali Baba Temple Of The Shrine
Same here. I love all of his stuff.
As someone who was born, raised and still lives in Mississippi this reminds me of the church i grew up going to. Also i dont live very far from Pascagoula.
Ray Stevens goes way back to the early 1960's (Ahab the Arab" being his first and most popular; if you can, watch Red Hot Chili Cookoff video, it is hilarious.
Definitely seconding the vote for Ahab the Arab! Not terribly pc but screw it - have a laugh!
More please!! It's Me Again Margaret, is hysterical!!
The Streak!
That's one of my favorites because when my mama was alive, we talked every day. But, sometimes she'd call me back to tell me something she'd forgotten and she'd always say "It's Me Again Margaret"! I miss her!
Santa Claus is Watching you.
Ray Stevens is a legend. He has lot's of great music
Ray Stevens is hilarious!
My father was a Methodist minister. When this song came out, he laughed until he choked. He would laugh every time he heard it.
Thanks a million Don!
Ray Stevens was a great story teller and could make anyone smile.
Have a great day and much love to all the members!!
He still is a great story teller.
Clifford Barnes, find me on fb
Oh yay. You've discovered the hilarity of Ray Stevens. His song The Streak leaves me rolling still after all these years.
You should watch The Streak by Ray Stevens!
Streaking was a thing when I was in high school in the 1970s. We had a guy streak across the baseball field, near where we congregated during breaks. We all knew who he was, but no one said a word, LOL.
@@ktspirit1 class of 79 here! I had a “streak “ t-shirt for a couple of years. Ray Stevens is awesome
@@suzannepatterson307 Class of '78 here, haha.
Class of 72 here! We had a friend streak the local radio station after we had called the DJ and requested The Streak. While it was playing our friend ran through wearing only cowboy boots! The DJ went nuts on air! We were sitting in the parking lot listening to it on the radio!😂😂😂
I remember that song. It was hysterically funny.
And southern air. Jerry Clowers is a great funny on to listen to as well
Wendy Bagwell is funny too
Knock 'em out John!!!!
Shoot up here amongst us...one of us needs some relief!
@@debbiethomasson2709 🤣 Yes!!! That's a great story.
Hot steel balls.
We love Ray Stephens. He is too funny. He used to have a radio show with our pastors wife before she married. He is from Albany, Georgia.
The streak was very popular also listen sitting up with the dead
Three Legged Man, Doctor Doctor, Ned Nostril and His South Seas Paridise Put Your Blues on Ice Cheap at Twice The Price Band..... I could go on and on. Ray Stevens is an entertainer: A perpetual 10 yr old in a grownup body.
I've always loved Ray Stevens! He's the funniest 🤣
Love Ray Stevens!! He's got some hilarious material! Did you notice the church name is First Self-Righteous Church?? They probably needed shaking up a little, lol
It’s the “south” after all. Turn right 7 church’s down the road a piece.
@@cherylkruisheer3365 I don't even go to church. Too many self-righteous people there.
@@cindy844 Bless your heart, neither do we. Humor lives all over the place except maybe not in your house.
@@cherylkruisheer3365 you trying to pick a fight??
@@cindy844 take a deep breath now. Breathe out slowly. You’ll be fine.
Ray is marvelous at humor. I'd like to request his song... everything is beautiful.... We so need the message in our 2021 world. Loved the reaction 😂
I live 30 minutes west of Pascagoula on the Gulf Coast! Some of our churches need that squirrel! Praise God
Amen! They sure do. They have forgotten their purpose!
You want something that'll put you into hysterical laughing? "It's Me Again Margaret." Ray Stephens is awesome!
Ray Stevens is amazing! I grew up listening to him. This is really nostalgic. 💜
When I first saw this video years ago I remember thinking "I sure hope he punched those holes BEFORE he put that squirrel in the box"!!!!!!!!!! There was another southern humorist, Louis Grizzard, who did a really sweet song called "Mama's Old Brown Hymnal".. worth giving a listen to.. I've actually met very few who've ever even heard of it... but it's on here somewhere.
Also Roy D. Mercer does phone pranks with his southern “how big a boy are you?” Hilarious! 😂😂
Love Roy D!!!
‘It’s Me Again, Margaret’ is just as bonkers! 🤣🤣🤣
I love Ray Stevens ever since he did the song The Streak. He is hysterical!
Hello to the Don family. I haven’t seen him in years thanks for the memories
I love Ray Stevens! Got to see him live a couple of times in Branson when I was young.
lucky you
lucky you
Ray Stevens is a national treasure!
All for Ray Steven's music is like this. Thanks for the laugh
Ray is a great comedian. Setting up with the dead is my favorite.
Man I remember this guy as a kid. He was so funny but talent in spades.
We have a tradition in the US called the Shriners. The Shriners are a charitable organization who do a lot of fundraising and have hospitals for children where they treat any child no charge. But they also have a clowns who ride motorcycles in parades and there have always been the stories about what the Shriners get up to when they have conventions. Ray Stevens did a song on the Shriners conventions on the Shriner convention it is hilarious you would love it every bit as much as you love this.
Ray Stevens' humor is among America's greatest exports!
I was laughing & had tears in my eyes. My Grand Parents were Baptist - My Parents were Catholic. Raised in rural Mississippi.
Hilarious! Gotta love Ray Stevens & his humor! Great Reaction!
So many great Comedic songs…but beautiful ones as well.
My favorite: Misty.
I mentioned Misty in another comment, Ray Stevens really does have a very good voice.
Listen to Everything is Beautiful to get the idea of his talent. He wrote this wonderful song as well as recording it. Not comedic.
@@mistermisanthrope4106 Love his version of Unchained Melody.
If I die before my hubby, I always told him to play this Ray Stevens' song in my honor as he spreads my ashes out in the country. I've loved the song from the very first day that Ray sang it.
Gotta listen to his The Streak!! Will laugh till you cry!!
Love Ray Stevens Jerry Clower is a legend to
Ray Stevens can bring you to tears when he sings true gospel! Most people think he only sings comedy, but he has an incredible voice.
So glad you included "Mississippi Squirrel Revival". I am a Mississippi-Texan currently residing in Collins, Mississippi, and so familiar with such a venue. I even recognized the old Baptist Broadman Hymnals, a staple in all Southern Baptist churches and homes with pianos.
My pleasure
Since you like this, check out his It's Me Again Margaret.
Yes! One of the best obscene phone calls ever. LOL!!
Ray Stevens has been doing this for years. He has so many funny song out there. Cheers, Steve
Ray Stevens is great! You should react to Sitting Up With The Dead, You Gotta Have A Hat, and The Pirates of Penzance.🤘🤘🤘
The Ray Stevens song "I ain't sittin up with the dead no more" is based on a Southern tradition of laying the recently passed. Out in their home. Which if you understand the tradition makes the video funnier .👻🧟♂️
I forgot Guitarzan.
@@elizabethkizzar5489 The Jewish people have this very same custom of sitting up with the dead.
Forgot to telll you that the south and Appalachia were settled by so many Scotch and Irish pioneers, and that's what gave the south their slow southern ways and so much of their humor and work ethic.
A very funny man. I love him and we need laughter now. He still has a show in Nashville
Ray Stevens is hysterical! We knew all of the lyrics to his songs growing up. I was going to recommend you watch ALL of his stuff but i will leave that to your patrons. You don't need me to say that, but he a as NOT a one hit wonder.
Thanks!
Thank you very much Rebecca I greatly appreciate your support. I'm sure I will do more of Ray
@@TheDonsChannel
FYI: I can't think of a single Ray Stevens song that would not be appropriate for the whole family to enjoy together. He is a great songwriter, singer, musician, and about as funny as you can get without someone getting injured by a piece of fruit. (and this Texan has been loving the Scots videos!)
🇺🇸 ❤️ 🏴
I remember my grandmother had a Ray Steven video on VHS and my sister and I loved watching. This song is one of our favorites. Another great one to watch is "The Streak" by Ray Stevens.
Oh I had that VHS as well, I watched it regularly.
My mom had it when I was a teen, as well.
Ray Stevens has got bunches of hilarious songs. "It's Me Again Margaret" is at the top of my best liked Stevens songs. It is so funny.
I love listening to Ray Stevens. He has the greatest songs.
He has a lot of songs that will have you rolling on the floor. Can't mess with Ray Stevens!
I saw him at the Carolina Street Scene festival right after he released this song. He is a fabulous entertainer.
I love Ray Stevens, he's always been one of my favorites. I love his other songs as well, I think 'It's Me Again Margaret' is my other favorite. It's been a really long week, thank you so much for the laugh it was really needed.
Ray Stevens is such a hoot! When I was a preteen my daddy bought me one of his comedy albums & this one was on it! I've been a fan ever since. Btw, I love your accent- sounds like one of my very favorite actor/musicians- Billy Boyd. Thanks for the video!
We had a cassette tape of Ray Stevens when I was a kid. Listened to it over and over. The Mississippi Squirrel Revival was our favorite!😂
Reading the subtitles getting the lyrics wrong makes this 10x funnier.
LOL, Too funny "First Self-Righteous Church" Thank the Lord I haven't seen many squirrels around here.
I've heard "The Streak" before but don't recall this one.
Try one of his newer ones,"Taylor Swift is stalking me"...
The Olympics in Georgia by Jeff Foxworthy is beyond funny
Sitting up with the Dead is a very hilarious song of Ray's!!!
Loved listening to Ray Stevens as a kid on road trips in the south. This video brought back lots of smiles and memories!
I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING THIS FUNNY IN SO LONG.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love Ray Stevens his music and his fun way of doing these he has done many on America and our servicemen and you need to see them as well

Pascagoula is a real town in the state of Mississippi . Nice people and they have a sense of humor.
Oh, that is an oldie, still a goodie!!!
Just about anything by Ray Stevens is gold.
Glad your being introduced to Ray, yes Jerry Glower is good so is Jerry Reed, Jim Stafford, and Justin Wilson
My oldest brother (god rest his soul) loved doing Ray's songs he had a bunch of 45's of his. My brother had a sense of humor just like Ray's he kept us laughing our asses off. Ray Steven's is just a card and fun to listen to. Check out his numerous songs and you just can't help but laugh.
Ray Stevens was great for his comical songs. He was wonderful to lighten your day. Sorely missed 😢 🇺🇲🦅🙏
Ray Stevens isn’t dead.
I grew up listening to Ray Stevens in the late 80’s early 90’s
I know lots of folks liked "The Streak", but "It's Me Again Margaret" had me rolling with laughter!
Love Ray Stevens's songs. Plenty more for you to enjoy.
My grandpa and I use to.laugh like crazy watching Ray Stevens. My dad and I use to smoke a little green and listen to My Own Grandpa.
One of his best comic pieces. He goes way back in pop radio. Some of his comic songs are a mixed bag but he certainly has his fans.
Part of the fun of this song is the expressions on the parishioners faces, including Ray Stevens himself. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🥰‼️
YAY! Love it!
One for thinking, and reflection: I'm a good ol Rebel! Makes you wonder how things have changed or remained the same in 160 years!
I absolutely love Ray Stevens! I’ve listened to him since I was 5!
He is hilarious. I grew up listening to his songs. He is underrated as far as being a singer goes, not to mention the lyrics and whole "feel" of the song.
Try Rays Sitting Up With the Dead.
This song reminds me of my grandpa. The first time I heard this song on the radio it was my grandpa who turned up the radio and started laughing. My grandpa was usually very serious so that's why this memory is so special. 🙂
My late great grandmother used to watch ray stevens with us kids. Man I forgot how funny he is. Brought back some great memories. Thank you
Mental. . .that's the true word for Ray Stevens!❤❤👍👍🥊🥊🥊🥊
Crazy but funny. 😁😜😋😝😂😖🤪
Ray Stevens is the Southern United States comedy Country Emblem of the 80s-90s lol
Love all Ray Stevens' crazy songs. A real talent for humor.
Mr. Stevens is a national treasure. Still 'Keeper of the Zoo' in Nashville according to the late, Great Chet Atkins.
"The Ballad of Jade McClusky, "The Bricklayer's Song," "Staying up with the Dead," and "The Streak" are also some of my favorites.
I had an actual vinyl album of Ray Stevens songs when I was growing up in the 70's. Me and my cousin listened to that thing so many times I'm sure we wore it out. I got so much enjoyment out of listening to those songs back in the day and I'm happy to know people are still enjoying Ray's music.
Now you are delving into my childhood! My favorite of his by far!
I love Ray Stevens!! I grew up laughing at his songs. He has so many funny ones. I’ve seen only one serious song- Everything is Beautiful. It’s a real pretty song.
