Haha! So glad you watched this one, too! Thanks, Billy
What a funny song oh man the good ol days when music was funny as hell
Your great Ray! Long time fan here!
I'm going to say, Ray, when I see your videos on youtube, they sound different from what I remember as a kid watching them on VHS.
I'd forgotten how much I loved Ray Stevens. If you liked this one you should watch The Streak or It's Me Again Margaret.
Absolutely
Sittin up with the dead is another good one.
Both!
Olivia Driver I Love sitting up with the dead. I used to hear my parents and grandparents talking about doing just that.
Yep. Those church members thought the Holy Ghost had hold of them. Thus the confessing, repenting, rededication and comin’ to the Lord. Lol I loved the name of the church. The First Self Righteous Church.
He was Weird Al before Weird Al. Love his family friendly tunes.
The Lord works in squirrelly ways.
He did a few parodies but most of his songs are original, Unlike Weird Al. There was an old duet called Homer and Jethro that were doing parodies way before Al came along.
@@shawnj1966 Ray Stevens has a long successful career of comedy and country music. Weird Al's albums are half originals and half parodies with a polka medley usually included. Many fans prefer his originals. He also is an actor, video producer (not just his own), author, and voice actor, in addition to being an accomplished musician, songwriter, singer, etc.
Definitely
I like that! "The Lord works in squirrelly ways!" (Especially around my family.)
The only difference is that Weird Al does parodies based on other people's songs. Ray does original songs that are funny as heck.
You need to listen to "It Me Again Margaret " Ray Steven's is amazing
SECONDED! My grandpa showed me that song and I started dying laughing!
It was called THE STREAK. It was a fad at the time.
“The Streak” and “It’s me again Margaret “ are two different songs.
My name is Margaret. Of course, I’ve heard of that song all of my life. I have a friend that I have known for 37 years. He’ll call me and say, “It’s me again, Margaret; hee, hee, hee. I have a rubber chicken and some cool whip”. (His wife is laughing in the background.)
That was a running gag between my grandma and me if I had to call her back soon after hanging up while getting her groceries to double check on something with her..I'd say "It's me again Margaret" and she'd say "Hello Ethal" since I used to watch a pair of VHS tapes we had of Ray Steven's frequently so it was a little running joke we had for well over 20 years before she passed away.
You should listen to Ray Stevens “The Streak” it’s hilarious 😆
Edit: I forgot another one of his songs! Sittin up with the dead, that one will also have u rolling!
It's me again margaret
that one is funny especially the one about there is no door there
Ray Stevens is known for his hilarious songs, but he really was an amazing singer. Please react to Ray Stevens Everything is Beautiful because it really shows how well he can really sing.
He still singing some really amazing songs. He just loves singing and making people happy a friend of mine‘s brother he’s a cop and he met Ray Stevens when he checked on One of Ray Stevens properties because an alarm went off.
I love Ray Steven been listening to him since a was a kid and I actually live in that sleepy little town of Pascagoula
Greetings from D'iberville!
I always wondered if it was a real town!!!😂😂😂 I'm 47 and have been listening to Ray my whole life!!!
Same here, been listening to him since I was a kid myself..had two of his VHS tapes back in the day..can't find them now since I moved out of the old house and I don't know if the tape inside them has held up in whatever place they are..
Sup from Collins!!
I grew up in Biloxi and Ocean Springs, but occasionally attended a sister church in Pascagoula and looked for a squirrel each time! 😂
Jesus would use a squirrel if that's what's needed!!
Billy, please do Sitting Up With the Dead by Ray Stevens. I want this song played at my funeral. ( I have a weird sense of humor, lol 😂)
You see the video of the Irishman who had an audio recording played at his funeral of him trying to get out of his coffin? ua-cam.com/video/v-ow5kOz5Qo/v-deo.html
I love sitting up with the dead
I agree with Michelle... I love that song
That's about my favorite Steven's song, with the possible exception of Shriner's Convention.
I laughed when your expression shifted to righteous disapproval!! Another of his worth a listen is Guitarzan.
I’m 38 and grew up on Ray Stevens, love his stuff
34, same here.
I keep waiting for somebody to catch on the name of the church is the "First SELF-RIGHTEOUS Church"
And Sister Birtha-Betterthanyou
@@nikwalters1029 Who sits in the Amen pew
@@nikwalters1029 Played by the same lady who plays "Margaret"...
Not to mention that amongst those saved that day, were several deacons and the preacher.
Sister Bertha Betterthanyou, every church has one :)
I’m a Christian, and you’re cracking me up! 😂
Yep, that squirrel got him some nuts. :-D
No
"please tell me this squirrel ain't latched onto this guy's..."
Yes. indeed.
I almost forgot Ray Stevens too! My parents were huge fans, we saw him in Branson, MO every summer when I was a kid. Great live shows! Ah, the sweet memories
Love this song! Check out another Ray Stevens called Shriner's Convention
Ray Stevens newer one is called Taylor Swift Is Stalking Me.
Lol I grew up listening to Ray Stevens and this was always my favorite. It still cracks me up when I hear it.
My mom played Ray Stevens often during my childhood. The Streak became my favorite.
“Made In America”- Toby Keith “I wish Grandpas never died” -Riley Green “Ain’t worth the Whiskey” -Cole Swindell and “ Don’t want to write this song” -Brett young
Thank you for reminding me how much I loved this when I was younger!!! My Mamaw and I used to watch him all the time!!!! Please continue to react to his songs!!! This gave me so much joy!!! 😍😍😍😍
I love this song! 😂 Though I feel like you may have missed the puns of "Fist Self-Righteous Church" and "Sister Bertha Better-Than-You". Either way, great reaction, and glad you got a laugh out of it!
Great move going to Ray Stevens. Some other songs to check out are "It's Me Again, Margaret", "Misty", "The Streak", "Sittin' Up With The Dead", and "Everything Is Beautiful". He also came out with a song called "Osama Yo Mama" after the 9/11 attacks, which definitely gets overlooked by the other songs in his 60-year career (like "Ahab The Arab" and "Turn Your Radio On").
EDIT: Town name in this song is Pascagoula. It's right on the Gulf Coast and has around 23,000 people.
Don't forget Ahab the Arab
@@WizardPandora It's listed up there. :)
@@JeffOfTheMountains I musta missed it lol
@@WizardPandora No problem :)
Glad to see Ray Stevens is gaining some Millenial fans!

I wouldn't take nothing for your face at the "She started namin names" line haha
"The Shriner's Convention" by him is hilarious.
I’M OFFENDED!!!
Offended that I didn’t come up with that myself. I’m a Christian, and I thought that was hilarious.
Tough shit learn to laugh a little. I'm taking it you were being so sarcastic or joking hence my reply. If you weren't reference the first line of this comment.
@@kathynorris1332 Expand the full comment. There's more.
Now you gotta do The Streak and It’s Me Again Margaret 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Love Ray Stevens! His songs and videos are so fun, you have to watch them over and over. Thank you! ^_^

I’m so glad you did this one!!!!
Yes! Ray Stevens is awesome. Grew up listening to him. Nice reaction 💚🖤💚🖤
I used to listen to Ray Stevens with my grandma, so aside from laughing I had a little nostalgic tear.
If you liked the one, you should listen to "The Streak"' , "It's me again Margaret"', and "I ain't sitting up with the dead no more" all by Ray Stevens. He's been one of my favorites for years.

Love Ray Steven's! As a kid I would listen to his tape in my dad's truck. So funny. Charlene McKenzie was my favorite song.
Ray Stevens is a legend.
I loved your reaction to this video. I couldn't stop laughing.
Ahab the Arab. the first time I heard it, It hit me perfect. I laughed so damned hard I thought I'd broken a rib. I was power crying. Had to take off my glasses because they were soaked. i was on the way to a job, the guy driving was laughing at me so hard he had to pull over. it took me about 30 minutes to recover.
"In the First Self-Righteous Church" cracks me up
❤❤ Ray Stevens !! Also spent half my life in Mississippi, so that makes it more funny !! Lol !!
Hey, Billy, Ray Stevens "Taylor Swift is stalking me"
Your expressions are priceless!
The Lord will use whatever He needs to to get to His goal. Nobody can tell a story like Ray Stevens.😂
More of his music videos to react to: "Sittin' Up with the Dead" and "Help Me Make It Through The Night". "Along Came Jones" is another great song, but I dunno if it ever had a video made.
Bro check out Jerry clower he's a old school story teller comedian
And Justin Wilson the Cajun chef that used to come on PBS in the 1980’s
Yes hes funny
There is a Ray Stevens video called Southern Air that features Jerry Clower as the pilot and Minnie Pearl as the stewardess.
Jerry Clower! Loved him. Cpuld make you laugh and cry, then laugh again in one story tellin'
A little tidbit. Ray Stevens went to Mississippi for a concert in Pascagoula and loved the name of the town so much he had to make a song about it!
My grandparents had a VHS of all the Ray Stevens videos. Have thought about them in years 🤣😂
Ray Stevens.... The Streak, It's Me Again Margaret, and Help Me Make it Through the Night. Those are three of his best.
My late husband loved this song. Mainly cause he was from Pascagoula, Mississippi
This is just one of those old totally hilarious songs. I couldn't stop laughing. This and "My Ding-a-ling" are my favorite oldy laughs.
The lord works in mysterious ways
You can't go wrong with anything by Ray Stevens
😂🤣 I love your reaction and there really is a place called Pascagoula in Mississippi near the Alabama border. And there's way too many self-righteous churches. Ray Stevens nailed it
I love this song my two foster kids know every word to it! They had the same reaction as you did for the most part. Except the parts they just didn't understand.
Billy you're the best reactionary person on youtube your ok in my book 📙 lookout billy you're so crazy right on billy.
There is no official video for it, but "Three legged man" will crack you up. Also, I haven't watched it yet but he did a "Quarantine Song", but I going to remedy it and watch now.
