@@GSVRemix that prince of Persia didn’t have wall climbing. It did have platforming and clambering though. I guess if we consider clambering a wall then yeah, wall climbing to me is grabbing a wall and climbing up down left or right
@@itllBuffGaming Oh, I see. I thought you meant just grabbing on the edge of the wall to climb it (instead of having to jump over it like in Super Mario Bros.) That's all just speculation, though.
@Narkomancers i think you are wrong there, sekiro is a souls like, I mean the community on steam seems to think so too. It absolutely has all the characteristics of a souls-like. DMC is a hack and slash in a sense same with Monster Hunter world. Souls-like doesn't mean it need to be a dodge roll fest. From Software defined the genre and by all means the designed sekiro to be in it too
@Narkomancers I mean everything really, a hub safe zone, bonfires, a level up system that costs money that can only be obtained from killing someone (like souls), difficult base enemies and challenging bosses, a parry and dodge system, when you die you loose all your money unless you collect it, but if you die in between you loose it, similar buff items, side optional bosses, linear world progression with lots of exploration, deep lore told on a very souls way. If you have played the game you absolutely would see the souls influence. Is it exactly like dark souls no, but does it have elements that make it a souls like absolutely. I think the community would agree. From Software used thier knowledge from Dark souls and made imo their best game to date.
Recommendation for the next one: Grimstorm on Gamejolt. combat isn't perfect, but it's free, and the lighting is pretty good, so its got a nice atmosphere
Another Souls-like I found is "LET IT DIE" (yes all caps), a souls-like, Dungeon Crawler looter/gathering game. Essentially what your doing in the game is climb this city sized tower where the floors contents are randomized to a degree. You got the usual stuff with checkpoints along the way that function as shortcuts to this games version of the Nexus. When you think about the game it really is just a dungeon crawler game with a "quirky" (dark) look that just so happens to have a lot of Dark Souls mechanics like the fighting system and such but I have to say it’s not a copy, this game changed a lot of souls mechanics it has adopted. For example, if you die your character is basically gone and you have to make a new one, but its not like erasing a save, just this character. Then your dead character turns into an enemy where you died, called a hater, and attacks you with all of the stuff you had when you died. Of course you can kill your character and retrieve your stuff but an interesting thing is that your Hater can appear in other peoples games and if they are killed by your hater (which is not that uncommon because the hater has your stats and is somewhat like an Invader with a player Character controlled by a bot) you get the killed players stuff. It’s really interesting figuring all the mechanics out and there are a lot of them. My biggest complaints about the game are really the horrible microtransactions/premium things because of how heavily impactful to the game they are and how heavily they are shoved into your face at every turn and how hard it is to get into the game. Because there is so much going on in this game right from the start it gets very confusing and overwhelming very easily and it just keeps coming at you when you think you got it. It should be very apparent but it took me a long time to understand that this game is above all a gathering game. Going back constantly and not rushing through is the way to play this game so the Souls Mindset outside of battle is really detrimental to your experience and its easy for me at least to fall into this mindset because of the souls type movement, fighting system and other mechanics.
I swear i have watched at least 6/7 of these videos and now every time I click one I think "okay I MUST"VE seen this one before", but no, somehow I still have not seen them all, they never end.

you mean half the MetroidVania name?
Castlevania is a metroidvania about castles. I don't know what you talking about.
Metroidvania is a castlevania game about metroids. I dont know what youre talking about
Hollow knight???
The metroid part literally stands for the non-linear stage design so I was a bit confused how you could have a metroidvania with linear stage design.

Yea, people forget that dark souls was inspired by other games too. Same with the Chinese game and the wall climbing... prince of Persia came out before uncharted.
@@irishpotato8786 didn’t tomb raider start wall climbing before prince of Persia did? There’s a prince of Persia before the first tomb raider but don’t think it had wall climbing. Can’t remember
@@itllBuffGaming The original Prince of Persia came out in 1989, and Tomb Raider in 1996. I think that Prince of Persia was the first game to have wall climbing, and realistic platforming in general, but there might have been others before it. Now if you mean Prince of Persia 3D (not to be confused with Sands of Time) it came out in 1999.
@@GSVRemix that prince of Persia didn’t have wall climbing. It did have platforming and clambering though. I guess if we consider clambering a wall then yeah, wall climbing to me is grabbing a wall and climbing up down left or right
@@itllBuffGaming Oh, I see. I thought you meant just grabbing on the edge of the wall to climb it (instead of having to jump over it like in Super Mario Bros.) Then in that case, I'm not sure which game invented the wall climbing mechanic, though the oldest one I've played with this mechanic is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which also pioneered many "parkour" mechanics later seen in Assassin's Creed.

Mocha changed his identity to... something else, and last I saw (SOME time ago, but still well after he vanished) he was alive and assumedly well. That's all just speculation, though.
"Imagine dark souls with a grapple hook" *sad sekiro noises*
Nobody cares about Sekiro
@@RyuuHatake those be some fighting words
@Narkomancers it's souls-like, not souls-identical
Sounds like King's Field with permadeath
