if you’re looking everywhere for a solution even after this tutorial, try downloading the previous generation of bios, thats what finally got mine to work
I killed half of a day trying to understand why my m-flash on MSI b450 doesnt even "see" my usb drive.I tried everything, formatting to fat32,switching different modes in BIOS etc etc(16 gb usb btw). After reading that it is probably because of the "bad" usb drive i already thought of going and buying a new one(and that would be in vain). And only after i found your video and watched it-everything worked like a charm(particularly converting to mbr solved everything is what i think)! So thank you very much, sir! You are a lifesaver!
So happy I found this tutorial. Have an MSI Pro z690-A WiFi motherboard that needed a new BIOS to see a i7 13700k. I had no other CPU to use. I had tried several flash drives new and old. Ive been cleaning, partitioning and formatting flash drives for HOURS!!! What eventually got it to start flashing was doing everything in the tutorial AND only making a 200MB MBR partition using just FAT table formatting. I had been trying to get this to work for 3 hours and was ready to return the brand new motherboard and buy a Z790 board. Many thanks !!! 😊
I can’t fix that problem my exactly main board doesn’t recognize my usb drive, I try putting in that usb drive windows 11 but is 8 GB and Fat32 format just allows me to put 4 gb so how can I make my usb bootable if I can’t change this , I need help
Just gonna leave this here for anyone who was searching like me: IF you have a Gigabyte A320M-S2H board and you’re looking to update to F55, (Or any new version past F40) you NEED to update to version F32 beforehand as there was a major update to allow for better BIOS updates for all future versions. Hope this helps and this video is a big help with teaching you about partitioning :)
This video is a God send! I was having trouble flashing my bios, and by EXACTLY following the steps outlined in this video I solved all of my problems. One note that I would like to add for owners of the Asus Rog Strix B550-F Wifi: apparently there are two versions of this board. One is simply named "B550-F Wifi" and the other is named "B550-F Wifi II". I had the "II" version but kept downloading the new bios for the other version and wondering why it wouldn't work. Then my brain finally noticed the "II" on the end of the motherboard name, so I searched for the bios for that version and when I tried it, everything worked. So, if you own this motherboard, take note of what version you have. Apparently the bios is different between them.
I have the same problem. The difference is i only find bios for b550-f wifi, not the ii, which i also own. Where did you find the ii version, cause i m at asus's site and i cant find this bios version. Its as if both mboards have the same bios
A quick as possible answer would really helpful as i m struggling for the past 4 hours and even this video didnt help. I hope its the version of the mb that make me struggle, cause this method of the video seems to help a lot of people, even in other videos so it might what u said
I force-googled for wifi ii after still not being able to find it through asus site and finally found it. I cant thanks you enough for introducing the thought of searching more for this. Just booted. Man i hope u get lots of health and luck in life. I was so stressed and sad. U saved me
THIS WAS A HUGE HELP!!! I was looking through videos/forums and nothing helped in the slightest lol. Glad I stuck through it all and found this video. thanks so much TroubleChute! :)
Thank you, i had to make a 500mb portion of the usb pen to update my asus prime 450 plus motherboard, i was stuck for years trying to update this damn thing, and your video has been the only one that had helped me. I truly thank you for helping me
Very helpful video. I have flashed bios before, and I could swear I did everything correctly, but mobo refused to install bios. But following the steps in your video solved it 👍
I searched the wrong BIOS. After you said to put all parts in the search like WiFi in my case was “max WiFi “ I got the right bios and it’s flashing now. Thank you so much 🙏
Totally gonna link this video in my next video. Superb in all ways. Especially the part about paying attention to the V1 / WIFI / SLi variant in the product name.
You have no idea how much you helped me! You are the best, thank you so much! I will recommend this video to those who are in the same situation that I was in. Thanks again ❤
Great video, worked for me using a 32gb 2.0 usb on an Asus strix z790-f gaming wifi board. Follow his exact steps. I was following other videos and it didn’t work until this one. Thank you!
Ur a god send i don't understand how this is still a thing with the newest gen motherboards it finnaly worked after u second trick with the allocate only 500mb thanks a bunch!!
Thank you about making a note of downloading the *exact* driver needed. I had d/l one w/o wifi and it wasn't booting. exact right driver did the trick for me. no idea they were so closely named.
Great video unfortunately my bios still gives me that solid green light update so it seems I actually needed to add in the 2 after (rog strix b550-gaming wif) thanks for that tip no wonder it wasn't reading the flash thanks pal
For the people with Asrock z690 Phantom Gaming 4 or similar that have this issue. I have been going at it for 2 hours and it turns out the manual is wrong... It has circled the wrong port as a bios flashback port. Try the lower one if on your manual it also shows the port that is under the ethernet port.
Stefan - thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe this - the Flash Bios Button is right above the top left USB port on my rear I/O panel, but when I read your comment I checked around the Ethernet port and found a totally different port labelled "Flash BIOS." That seems so simple but it's not intuitive design at all. It is working now, partitioned at 500MB in FAT format. BTW anyone reading this, I don't even have the same mobo as Stefan, mine is MSI MPG Z690 Force WiFi. I have a ticket open with MSI where I am going to suggest they update the user manuals and desk guides that they have published on the website. TroubleChute - thank you as always for the simple, straightforward, quick walkthrough!!
I'd also try the low level format tool, that makes the USB drive as it came out of the factory. And then try the sub 2gb fat16 partition. Plus making sure the drive is MBR. Also, enable view extensions on View tab in Windows.
oh man. your tutorial seemed that was going to work. i think my problem has to do with the MBR or GPT thing. i followed your steps and installed a windows 10 bootable disk in the USB with MBR and FAT32. after checking the DMI pool data, it shows that i have an invalid partition table. on the boot i have the right HD as primary HD and for the boot sequence i have primarily the USB-FD, hard disk, DVD/CD rom. on other trials, when i changed to GPT it seemed that i was getting other message, at least was advancing, but still not booting from the drive
It didn't work on a Gigabyte B650E Arous Elite x ax ice. I let the USB thumb drive blink for and hour and a half on a brand new build. This was my first Gigabyte build and obviously my last.

select disk X
clean
convert mbr
and then create a fat32 partition on the usb stick using disk management.
