I have a Gigabyte AB350 Gaming-3 in bios version F5, but I don't know if there is any order to update to the latest version.
Helpful vid thanks!! First time builder here, I have decided to opt for the i5-12400F cpu with the Gigabyte B660 DS3H mobo. Do I need to update the bios as the first thing I do before installing the CPU or anything else? Also, the current bios version on the gigabyte website is F21 (2022/11/18) - do I always update to whatever the latest version is?
Hello and thanks for the comment and question. Lots of people never uodate their BIOS and a perfectly ok. However, I always like to uodate it for any security or vulnerability reasons. Also there could be motherboard updates for Ram compatibility and other features like if you wanted to upgrade your cpu to tye 13th gen on that MB as an example. It might already be ok. If you feel comfortable doing it then I would. Always if possible hook it up to a power supply unit, that way if the power goes out there is a less likely chance of you bricking the motherboard

Should I seek proffesional help with this? Since I have a Z590 AORUS XTREME motherboard which is giving me problems with RAM speeds (support for my current RAM was added in later updates and there is also a Major vulnerabilities update).
It is pretty easy to do but can be little confusing at first. If you know someone to help you the first time great. If not, just take you time and make sure you have the correct bios to flash. I have a couple other bios video that may help you in confidence.
Well, that was an informative video. Really. I only wish that you hadn't left out key steps like how to back the current bios version. My x399 designare ex MB manual is very skimpy on details to this other than Do Not Flash bios without making a backup. This I believe is industrial standards for any FW updates. I built my Gigabyte x399 TR4 with much satisfaction for the most part, but I am frequently running into snags each time I add new hardware, software, or even when I decide to tear my system completely down because the workstations setup is all wrong, so I want learn about these issues and build something I know inside and out, i.e. (I have reset CMOS and used my licensed copy of Windows 10 Pro to reformat my m.2 nvme ssd during the MS win10 install process, and even tho it was a complete errasier but still there is junk left behind. Like what it looks in my BIOS as I was looking for Gigabytes secure data errase for RAID and SSD drives to ensure 100 percent total wipe of these old configuration that inevitably add to an undesirable PC build. Well, I never got to find out about how to perform a thorough ssd format. When I chose to back up my bios, it looks like there are three different sets of windows and drive configuration data saved in identically named but duplicated files, each different tho. Can all three be backed up at once, or do I need to take one at a time? I want a backup of all bios configurations, but I also would like the old ones wiped from bios if it's possible. Microsoft acc. dashboards under devices have owners PC listed and are used like a loophole if customers are unaware that a device should be removed in MS dash when attempting a fresh clean install on their PCs. If not, the minute this PC refreshes goes online, does MS.com use that old bios configuration info, especially for the PC owners looking to break from Microsoft all together.
But do those BIOS updates to ´fix vulneratibilities´, claiming the user won´t be able to roll back to previous BIOS versions, apply to BOTH the current as well as back-up BIOS? What if people have DUAL BIOS? Will this forcefully update BOTH? This sounds riskier than the vulnerabily issue itself. I have the original bios and this update could not only mess with my BIOS, rendendering the motherboard useless, but also deny me the safety of a dual-BIOS feature.
You have the option to leave the backup BIOS and only update the main if I'm correct. It is not risky at all. They would not release it if it was not a concern. Or you can always just keep you current one and the risk is on you.
@@PlanetKryos Thank you for the answer. Do I have to make any previous adjustment to BIOS configuration so I can keep the backup BIOS? Or is this this something configured ´by default´? Looks like you might need a 12th gen first. You can just buy a cheap 12100. You can try the bios flash then when windows installs update the drive first thing.
Make sure it is formatted in FAT32 and not a large drive. Anything 32GB or smaller should be ok. Preferably 16GB or smaller. Also make sure you have the bios file needed and not the wrong one or something random.

My bios version is f1, i have no problems with it but should i update bios one by one until the latest version or the latest version contains all fixes from previous versions ???
Never do you have to do them 1x1. Grab the latest one and it will contain all the fixes. On occasion I have seen were it makes you update to a certain bios first then to the latest. To check for that read all release notes to the right to see if it says anything like must update to F(?) First....something like that. Hope that helps.

wait... I thought you needed a thumb drive for the "flashing" process... whatever the heck that is. I've watched about 5 videos and ALL of them talk about using a thumb drive for the flashing process... but it looks like the only reason you were wanting to use a thumb drive was so you could drag and drop some update files onto your computer. Is that literally, ALL it's needed for?! I'm so confused...
There are a few ways to update your bios depending on your motherboard of course. Using a thumbdrive is needed when directly going into you bios and then the bios reads the file you downloaded and installs it. You can also use the update via internet within the bios if it supports it. A bios flash back is when no cpu or ram or ssd/hdd is needed but still need a thumbdrive. Of course if your MB supports bios flash back. Some MBs offer bios update via software but I stay far away from thoses
Is it Normally recommended to click Also Update Backup Bios? As Noticed in the video you didn't check that part, i know i did when i did my Bios Update for this Critical one back in November on my B460M_DS3H Desktop machine
Yes but if for some reason the new BIOS messes up at least you have an old one to go back to. However under the discription it said i would not be able to revert back once i have the new one installed. Over all yes you should do it.
Obviously it is bad because you you are having issue you can't resolve. Overclocking is for extreme gamers and enthusiasts. PCs are unreliable with any overclocking and will have a much shorter life span. Overclocking is very over rated and not worth it
@@PlanetKryos yep extreme overclocking is bad for sure. my GPU is factory overlooked reaching 2070mhz when playing demanding games my gpu temperature is below 70C and memory temperature is 80C i think keep my GPU at factory settings is good and I've enabled DOCP like you said now games are running super smooth thank you for that

BUT NOW I CAN'T GET INTO THE BIOS Q-FLASH TO UPDATE IT I CAN MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO BIOS BUT THATS ALL NO MANUAL UPDATES OR BACKUPS OR FACE WIZARD
I have a question, since windows thinks I have a different motherboard than I really do (thats what im trying to fix), will that make something go wrong in the bios update and brick motherboard?
Might want to RMA it. If not live with it or try to update it
@@PlanetKryos I prob aint gonna do all dat, but I do have a question. Could you think of anything that could possibly make the motherboard identifying wrong hit input delay/wifi when reinstalling windows? ty
I followed this step by step but it keeps telling me that it’s an invalid BIOS image.. help? 😅
Sounds like you have the wrong file
I keep getting an invalid bios image error for some reason.
Any help much appreciated.
Look through some of the comments. Sounds like you have the wrong bios though
@@PlanetKryosThanks for replying.😺
It has never been updated before.I got it in 2017(Gigabyte AB 350 Gaming 3)
Updated Ram and it's not running @ full 3200MHz but runniung @ 2400.
The Bios will need updated no doubt to run faster Ram.
If you got new Ram, then it will go back to default DDR4 speed, which is 2400. You have to turn on xmp, dock or expo.
@@PlanetKryos There is no XMP profile with the new Ram strangely enough(Kingston Hyper X Fury)
I Had Crucial Ballistix Sport, which was 2400 full speed which has XMP.
Yeah if you bought ram with 2400 speed then that is what it will run at. Xmp is for anything above 2400
when update bios After Os Not found what we can do ? bro
What is it doing? Any picture or text?
I have a question, What if we update the BIOS from release, To the last'es Version?
I asume you mean from current to latest version. Like from F1 to F 9 and you want to know if you can jump right to F9. The sort answer is yes. In so cases you must uodate to a certain version First (F1 to F5)then to the latest F9 as an example. This will be noted in the release notes right next to each BIOS version. Hope that helps
@@PlanetKryos thanks, and sorry for my bad English, yaa i mean from the current version ( Release version because i haven't update the BIOS since i bought it )
@@PlanetKryos btw my Mobo is Aorus B450 elite v2, Can i have more question sir?
I will do my best to answer
@@PlanetKryos i build this PC by my self, The Processor is Ryzen 5 2600 , GPU RTX 3080 10G, Ram 16Gb 2×8, I fell i must upgrade my Cpu , Or you have any opinion sir?
Hi, I'm terrified about doing this because I'm on version F23d on my AB350M-Gaming 3 motherboard and there are so many versions to download apart from that, there are also some chipset downloads I seem to need to install as well since it appears that it's required for some versions. Can you show me the order in which I should download everything to get to the latest version? My goal is to be able to install the new AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, so if I manage to make this successfully I would go ahead and buy the new CPU.
Well not going to be able to show you. That would be a video. Your 23d version is not in there. So assuming it was a beta version. It does show version 23. There are too many steps to talk you through this. Sorry
Hey for me when I click the arrow I get a pop up saying "Invalid BIOS Image" does anybody know why this would be happening?
More than likely you have the wrong BIOS
@@PlanetKryos ended up fixing the issue I was trying to go from F2 to F51g thanks for your reply!
Need to update to F32 first then after update to latest.
IT IS OKAY TO USE I3 9100 ON MY B360M DS3H BEFORE UPDATING BIOS?
Yes. No reason why it wouldn't be. It is a 300 series MB with 9th gen cpu
The i3 9100 will work on my mobo even if it hasn't been updated right or i need to use 8th gen to update the bios before i use 9th gen?
Its giving me a "Bios ID" error when I have a Non wifi ELITE X570 and I have a non wifi elite X570 Bios update
More than likely you are trying to load the wrong BIOS
What BIOS version do you currently have and what version are you trying to update it with? Does you MB have a revision on it, like rev.1 or rev.2?
@@PlanetKryos I had F11 and I figured it out myself, the issue is that my system called my MB a NON WIFI X570 but in Bios it was.
And I remember buying it as its a NON WIFI version so idk why the wifi bios update worked even tho its not one
I keep getting checksum error for my b660 gaming x ! cant upgrade it F21 or F22! i think i need a 12th gen cpu on that board to update cause i have 13th installed atm!
Is this a new build? Your board says you need F20 for 13th gen. Also need to update the intel VMD driver to v19.5 or later otherwose windows crashes
@@PlanetKryos Yeah its a new build i only got the CPU installed and tried to update BIOS! I was going to install all the drivers after win 10 yes 10 not 11 lol install. Can i install VMD in the bios also?
Looks like you might need a 12th gen first. You can just buy a cheap 12100. You can try the bios flash then when windows installs update the drive first thing.
@@PlanetKryos Dont know they all over 100 Euros! Yeah an i feel for this guys crap! ua-cam.com/video/9bEaUXRktm4/v-deo.html
🤷♂️ hope it all works out for you. Thanks for watching
Mine won’t work because the flash drive doesn’t show up in files even tho it’s been plugged in the whole time
Pls help
Make sure it is formatted in FAT32 and not a large drive. Anything 32GB or smaller should be ok. Preferably 16GB or smaller. Also make sure you have the bios file needed and not the wrong one or something random.
@@PlanetKryos ok 2 problems the drive is 128 gb and fat 32 isn’t a option
@@PlanetKryos so any recommendations on what flash drive to get
SanDisk 16GB Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive - SDCZ48-016G-GAM46 a.co/d/aTffLgH
Although slow on write speeds, very good for BIOS files and such. There are other options
@@PlanetKryos Ty man :)

Hi I Have Motherboard GA-P45T-ES3G Gygabyte (System Model P45T-ES3G
BIOS Version/Date: Award Software International, Inc. F1, 2/23/2011
SMBIOS Version 2.4) ,..... Can The update didn't have To convert my bios from Legacy To uefi on this motherboard? And if we can plz Show us how to do it , Thanx
That is a very old MB.
Shall i update to F11?
Are you asking permission?
Thanks man
Is it Normally recommended to click Also Update Backup Bios? As Noticed in the video you didn't check that part, i know i did when i did my Bios Update for this Critical one back in November on my B460M_DS3H Desktop machine
Yes but if for some reason the new BIOS messes up at least you have an old one to go back to. However under the discription it said i would not be able to revert back once i have the new one installed. Over all yes you should do it.
Thank you so much!!! I was on F6 🫠 and now I'm up to date!!!
That's was helpful thank you very much ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Great!
I'm going from f4 to f51d and it appears its 1 by 1
No, you do not need to go 1x1
I have tried different ways and same results just saying it’s not a bios image
Then you have the wrong file or you are trying to use a folder and not the file in the folder
Ive updated the new bios of my gigabyte rtx 3080 gaming oc but the new bios down locked my gpu and i can't overclock my gpu
Sorry you are having issues. Unfortunately I do not support nor give advice for overclocking anything other than the RAM when you can use XMP/DOCP
@@PlanetKryos overclocking is not bad as long as GPU temperature and memory temperature are with in their limit
Obviously it is bad because you you are having issue you can't resolve. Overclocking is for extreme gamers and enthusiasts. PCs are unreliable with any overclocking and will have a much shorter life span. Overclocking is very over rated and not worth it
@@PlanetKryos yep extreme overclocking is bad for sure. my GPU is factory overlooked reaching 2070mhz when playing demanding games my gpu temperature is below 70C and memory temperature is 80C i think keep my GPU at factory settings is good and I've enabled DOCP like you said now games are running super smooth thank you for that
It will not find my storage drive
Make sure formatted in Fat32 an/or try another port
Thank you
i just go into system information to find bios version
It says invalid bios image
Then you have the wrong bios or file
BRO I HAVE I3 9100 AND B360M DS3H IS THAT COMPATIBLE? OR I JUST NEED TO UPDATE BIOS?
doesn't see my USB drive
Follow the video and pinned comment.
q flash is great and all but alot of manufacturers have taken most of the work out of updating your bios by offering an update via internet option so nobody can brick there boards by mistake yes things can happen but id make sure my internet was stable before using internet option why gigabyte doesnt offer the option i dont understand
For me it says bios id check error
More than likely you are trying to flash the wrong BIOS
@@PlanetKryos so i have f50 rn and i was trying to get on f62 but it didnt work
I have no idea what MB you have. Have you even uodated the BIOS on the MB before? Is the Flash drive small than 32GB and formatted in Fat32?
@@PlanetKryos should be but im not gonna update cuz i already solved the prbolem i had in another way and dont want to risk too much
Did it feels nice
tysm bro
Nice thanks
Can u do a bios update on b450m ds3h? from f40 to f52?
Look like you can but i would be sure you read the note next each BIOS before you do to make sure there isn't anything else needed before updating.
