Grown Man Watches SCHOOL OF ROCK for First Time!!
what really hits different for me about this movie is not only Jack Black, but also how crazy talented these kids were. as a kid watching this, it really made me feel like I could do anything, and the nostalgia hits me even more so now. especially Kevin Clark who played Freddy, it's so sad that he's passed away now, but his talent forever remains engrained in this movie - as will everyone else's.
They actually did a reunion thing and had everyone together performing again after so many years, looked like they all had a blast on the movie.
All the kids except Miranda Cosgrove were musicians, not actors. That's why they're so good - they're actually playing. I also read that Lawrence's "I'm not cool enough to be in the band" moment was something Lawrence's actor genuinely said to Jack Black during auditions, and it's why Black gave him the part.
Who said Jack Black is an asshole?? He's one of the purest guys on the planet. You should hear how he talks about the importance of this movie given his comedy rock duo .
The guy that played Zack got arrested 4x in 5 weeks for stealing guitars. True embodiment of “not hardcore unless you live hardcore” 😂
You deffinetly hit the nail on the head. Probly the biggest reason why this movie is as good as it is is because of how unconditionally supportive Jack Black is of each and every one of the kids.
Don't worry the bassist got her solo at the reunion
One thing I especially love about this film is how Dewey just wants everyone to feel good about who they are. Like, when Lawrence and Tamika open up to him about their insecurities, his response is literally just 'so what, who cares, you have talent, you're awesome', and when Billy wants to be the stylist instead of security, he just shrugs and goes 'okay' and lets the kid follow his passion. There's no overt preaching or moralising - he just leads by example, by accepting the kids as they are (even Summer) and not judging anybody. In that respect, he is a really good teacher, despite not being good at the actual theoretical parts of the job.
Jack black ain’t never been an asshole. He’s always been so kind to every co-star especially to his child stars
This movie is perfect. This choice was perfect. Jack Black's Magnum Opus is life changing

First, RIP Kevin Clark. He played Freddy and passed away in May of 2021 when he got hit by a car while riding his bike. But to bring the mood up…
Jack and the kids had a reunion a few years back and they performed the song again. It was so heartwarming to watch
3 things:
I can quote this entire movie from memory. It’s insane. I never tried to remember every line, or just embedded into my very fibre over rewatches.
Rest in peace to the kid that played drums❤
You absolutely nailed it at
This is my first time back in a few months. You dont know me, but your content got me through the worst mental health I've ever struggled with. Stay pure. Much love.❤
I bought this movie and showed it to my kids (12 and 9)... You hit the nail on the head about it hitting different for kids... Their interest in music just exploded. Definitely holds up 🤘
