I love the editor notes expressing exactly how we feel. How did he not see the pull back of the giant dome, or the fact that the moon was a command center?
The weird thing about his wife randomly doing sponsorships//promos in the middle of convos (like for Mococoa) is that Truman wouldn't know this was abnormal. He grew up with everyone around him talking about products like that. He should think those interjected "ads" are perfectly normal.
There's context. She just talked about the Mococoa to him like an ad after saying she'd make him some. So, who's she trying to sell it to? It's one thing when she tells him to buy a new tool or ask a group of friends if she should make that drink and do the ad. It's still weird if she's alone with him, tells him she's making it for him, then does the ad - it's like who are you talking to?
@@Serai3 Exactly. He lived his whole life like this without suspecting anything. He started oddities here and there but couldn't put it together, until the radio glitched. That's when he started to look past the curtain and things became more and more obvious to him.
23:00 "and the last thing I'd do is lie to you" Truman never accused him of lying to him, this is why he gives him this look, at that moment he knows he's lying because he's defending himself from something he's not been attacked by.
But before that he mentions that for everything to be a lie he'd have to be in on it too, meaning he'd have to be lying to Truman, that's why he says he'd never lie to him.
@@MrShaun42088I’ve only seen one other reaction from this guy… it was Django unchained, and he was very obnoxious throughout it. The only reason I watched it was because I like that movie and I’m the biggest Jim Carrey fan so I wanted to see this one but I don’t know that I’ll watch anymore of his reactions
a lot of movies from 90s or the very early 2000s were really good, after that I think it started switching into serialized shows, which aren't ever given proper endings because they try to drag them out as long as possible, or they just straight up don't have enough plot to make a serialized show work but if it was cut down to a movie it'd be an extremely good one.
One scene that got cut is where Meryl says, "I thought we were going to try for a baby." Truman replies with something like "Why do you want to have a baby with me? You can't stand me." This often gets cut from reaction videos, and yet, I think it's so important because it shows that in his heart, Truman senses that things aren't right.
It's so frustrating when Alex doesn't get the point of some things early on (like when she crosses her fingers during the wedding wows, or the travel agent posters intended to keep him from traveling)
@@nice9735 When someone cross fingers during an action or a statement it means is a lie. In this case Truman’s wife cross her fingers meaning their marriage is fake, a lie.
Seemed to miss it..when he’s talking to his friend stocking the candy machine, his friend takes candy back out of the machine so he has more to stock. Also, when looking at the wedding photos, he sees that his wife had her fingers crossed.
There's so much about this film you didn't get or didn't pick up on straight away, but then conversely you noticed something I''ve never noticed after all the years watching this film: that their Ford sedan doesn't have headrests. Thank you for pointing that out to me.
I see stuff like that in biomedical research too lol. Someone can be brilliant but basically spend all of their mental energy at work and then they can barely do basic addition at home
As a semi-frequent viewer, I think the part of the audience who are frustrated by this reaction take issue with the fact that you spend so much time trying to think of ways to interject with yelling that you don’t actually REACT to what is happening because you miss it entirely. When you actually engage with the content of what you’re watching, you’re very entertaining. When you’re trying SO HARD to be funny, you miss a lot of what is going on and it really detracts from the experience. I think for a lot of people, reaction content is like sharing your favourite movie with a friend. In this case, rather than getting to see how that friend’s face lights up at the twists and turns etc., you sit there dejected as he yells over the plot with completely unrelated dick jokes. This movie is just drawing out more negative commentary because what is happening is literally told to you and is so obscenely obvious that it reads like you’re more interested in doing a skit than reacting to what you’re watching (which, to be clear, you’re obviously entitled to do. It is your channel!)
That's true. He should be talking, since it would be boring if he would just sit there and do nothing, but the way he does it, he misses a big part of the movie
Yeah, for some reason, I was a little bothered with how he reacted to this film. Probably because the plot was so obvious and laid out for the audience to see, that when he entirely missed it, it was like 🤔😤😩. But, I still love him, and think his commentary is often funny...sometimes a tad to raunchy, however. 🤤
27:03 They made him afraid of the water because he wanted to go places - Now imagine what they would do to the kid to keep him from jerking it, smoke or other things - They might show commercials and curtains but you don't know what they might do to minimize off screen moments. Everyone around him are actors or staff, I doubt they had an independent child psychologist monitoring it all - one that isn't on the payroll.
Was hoping someone mentioned this, a lot of films do this. I would say I am surprised Alex hasn’t caught onto that, but then again he rarely gets the plots lol
21:07 - 21:18 😂I wish you hadn't cut the line, "What the Hell does this have to do with *anything?* Tell me what's HAPPENING!!" That's one of my faves.
This has been one of my faves for a long ass time. It's a nice blend of drama and subtle creepiness isn't it. 😂 Love your response to the 'finger clicking' dude in the office. Haaa!
I love how when Alex realizes it’s a tv show from his birth he still thinks those guys are still just pushing him against a walll, but doesn’t notice when they do it it’s always in front of a billboard as an “ad” for the product hahahaha
For me… this movie is a commentary on Plato’s cave allegory. “We accept the reality of the world we are presented” perfectly captures this movie. Knowing that, we can make our own conclusions of the message behind the movie.
I watched a few of his Patreon exclusive vids and the few where he watches with his friends or editors are much more satisfying. The reason being they are there to clue Alex in on all the shit he is oblivious to and questioning. You know the stuff we usually yell at our screen at him when he’s missing something.
"who the hell wants a desk job?!" I do... I've been working years in a highly physical job and i can feel it tearing on my body. I'm also very interested in working digitally. I could easily say i'm one of the few who prefer a desk job over a physical job. Most of the physical jobs are far too demanding, at least the ones i've had.
Honestly yeah, if the guy wants to screw his health doing manual labour for minimum wage for a rich fuck that don't care about him he can go for it, but I won't listen to a guy whose job is to react to content on the internet to tell me what kind of jobs suck or not (they all do, but desk jobs at least preserve your physical health)
We watched this in grad school in medical ethics (psychology and schizophrenia). We had the hardest year in that class, we had to learn DSM IV and DSM V. The diagnosis of schizo does fit when he starts to find out, but the fact that he was kidnapped/purchased as a "living cell", confuses that he is suffering from "kidnapped" syndrome, you live and accept/protect your terrorist who has taken you hostage (living in the town). That throws it a total 180 deg thinking it that way.
The mental prison caused a disassociation with his true feelings and perceptions. Negative reinforcement stopped him from getting out of a situation despite his innate desire to venture out. He has entered into a schema of will-less complacency but can only keep the act up for so long. Truman isn't sick; he's being gaslit and is showing all the signs of prolonged mental abuse. . His fear of water is directly linked to his fear of abandonment. That's why the fear was doubled down on; to keep him in the Dome. That is abuse. Truman behaves like somebody with CPTSD and picked up some borderline-traits. A person who perceives they are being watched but is able to give plausible reasons, is not schizophrenic. Their behaviour is a 'schizoid affect', which has nothing to do with schizophrenia but everything to do with being manipulated under duress for an extended amount of time.
I love you and your channel, bro! One of my favorites! But just watch the movie sometimes. Even just watching you react to moments without hearing you speak on them would be amazing.
They wanted to show footage of the audience in real time at one point to make the mega point really drive home. Another movie you should watch that they’d never dare to make again is Tommy Boy, you should add that to your list
I remember living through the OJ trial. People became this engrossed in that trial and some people were lost when it ended. It seems crazy, but never underestimate how crazy the public an be.
I love your outlandish comments lol. And I loved watching this with you. I haven’t seen it in so long and I remember the feeling I got in the end, the jumping up and down and clapping was me too lol. I loved seeing someone else’s view for the first time
If you remember back to the Avenged Svenbold reaction to "Life is but a dream" album, in Mattel they sing "Good afternoon, good evening and good night", that's a reference to the artificial world that is presented to Truman.
When someone does or says something they want to do while fingers are crossed, that means they truly don't mean it. This is what he saw in the wedding photo where they were taking their vows. The twins were pushing him into the wall for the ad on the poster lol You missed the scene where they showed the giant dome that was built for this tv show I guess.. lol
Yea Alex talks and misses so much…love him, but totally get why the lawyer thing wasn’t a good fit. Big props for getting through torts class though!!! Fo reelz!!
As his channel grew bit by bit, his ego grew exponentially. Now he thinks we're here for his "comedy" (3rd grade innuendo?). So he's stopped paying attention to the things he watches. All he's doing is looking to make "jokes" about every scene. And his weird fake laughter at his own 'jokes' is just maximum cringe.
The editor's note at the end saying you talk too much.... it's very true. You missed SO much if you had just ya know.. not made s-xual comments every 2 seconds lol
hi alex, you seemed confused over the wedding pictures. he saw that her fingers were crossed. i don't know if it's still a thing, but it used to be that if you crossed your fingers during a promise or a vow, you don' t really mean it and can not be held to it.
Most people would kill for a 9-5 steady job, instead of shift work, or having to clamor for hours, or working multiple jobs to keep a roof over their heads. I don't get the weird attitude towards that. You get a guaranteed weekend. You get steady income. 9-5 jobs typically also have the highest average salaries with the lowest risk. Win-win; work to live, not live to work.
Jim Carrey is known for his comedic roles like Bruce Almighty, The Grinch & Ace Ventura - to name a few - but I think he really shines through in his serious roles.
Imma be honest, I am appreciating your way of reacting to these movies. It's so genuinely intoxicating and hilarious that I would watch your reactions rather than the movie... even the ones I haven't want yet.
15:56 Truman saw the actor playing his wife had crossed her fingers in their wedding photo, indicating she was not being honest when she took her vows.

He was yammering on and missed the fact that Christof can turn it from midnight to noon at the snap of a finger
@@CGingerbreadman security guard? That’s Scully from Brooklyn 99.
Yeah, he missed the whole 'cue the sun' moment.
He did think they were normal... until he began to have suspicions about his world. Then he started noticing how odd it was.
@@Serai3 Exactly. He lived his whole life like this without suspecting anything. He started oddities here and there but couldn't put it together, until the radio glitched. That's when he started to look past the curtain and things became more and more obvious to him.
Bro. Alex. My man. Did you pay attention to a single second of this film? Love you either way haha
I dont.
I abandoned this reaction video.
@@Anon-xd3cfsame this was unbearable. I dont know this channel, but this video immediately turned me away from any of his content
This was years ahead of its time with regards to how reality tv affects people, it wasn't about Truman, it was about YOU.
23:00 "and the last thing I'd do is lie to you"
Truman never accused him of lying to him, this is why he gives him this look, at that moment he knows he's lying because he's defending himself from something he's not been attacked by.
But before that he mentions that for everything to be a lie he'd have to be in on it too, meaning he'd have to be lying to Truman, that's why he says he'd never lie to him.
This was one of the most painful reaction videos I've ever tried to watch, I couldn't even finish it out of frustration with his lack of attention.
spot on. seriously lost respect for the dude. i thought he was clever, not so much any more
@@MrShaun42088I’ve only seen one other reaction from this guy… it was Django unchained, and he was very obnoxious throughout it. The only reason I watched it was because I like that movie and I’m the biggest Jim Carrey fan so I wanted to see this one but I don’t know that I’ll watch anymore of his reactions
yeah, obnoxious is the right word lol@@nsasupporter7557
@@MrShaun42088 Most of his reactions are like this. Dude misses everything or is super slow on the uptake
Same. Made it to 17:53 and threw in the towel. I was getting hoarse from shouting at my screen.
See, this is one of those movies that actually did stay good throughout the years
@@moon-moth1honestly, kids that grow up in vlogger families probably feel a lot like Truman
@@moon-moth1Big Brother premiered a year after The Truman Show.
as opposed to all the movies that became evil and started attacking people
a lot of movies from 90s or the very early 2000s were really good, after that I think it started switching into serialized shows, which aren't ever given proper endings because they try to drag them out as long as possible, or they just straight up don't have enough plot to make a serialized show work but if it was cut down to a movie it'd be an extremely good one.
@QueenOfTheZombieApocalypsehello my name is Chris
One scene that got cut is where Meryl says, "I thought we were going to try for a baby." Truman replies with something like "Why do you want to have a baby with me? You can't stand me."
This often gets cut from reaction videos, and yet, I think it's so important because it shows that in his heart, Truman senses that things aren't right.
It's so frustrating when Alex doesn't get the point of some things early on (like when she crosses her fingers during the wedding wows, or the travel agent posters intended to keep him from traveling)
Tbf lots of reactors miss the crossed fingers.
@@ScarriorIII True! Sometimes I think reactors do not fully enjoy movies because the keep talking and get distracted looking at the camera.
Seriously, I was getting pissed lol
@@ElvisC506I didn’t get it too
@@nice9735 When someone cross fingers during an action or a statement it means is a lie. In this case Truman’s wife cross her fingers meaning their marriage is fake, a lie.
The amount of answers you would get if you stopped asking questions and watched the damn movie. 🤣
Seemed to miss it..when he’s talking to his friend stocking the candy machine, his friend takes candy back out of the machine so he has more to stock. Also, when looking at the wedding photos, he sees that his wife had her fingers crossed.
Imagine making movie reactions and not paying the least possible attention to the movie you're watching...
20:38 i love the detail that all the trees of the forest are in a perfect line like an orchard, because its man made.
Even the editor calling out that he talks so much he misses the story of the movie LMAOOO
6:50 I knew I recognized him. It's Scully from Brooklyn 99 😂
He even keeps the haircut 😂
There's so much about this film you didn't get or didn't pick up on straight away, but then conversely you noticed something I''ve never noticed after all the years watching this film: that their Ford sedan doesn't have headrests. Thank you for pointing that out to me.
Every time I watch Alex, one question always comes up; "How in the hell is this two second memory man, a lawyer?
he is a LAWYER????
He is a really good lawyer. 🤣
He graduated law school. Don't think he's a lawyer.
I see stuff like that in biomedical research too lol. Someone can be brilliant but basically spend all of their mental energy at work and then they can barely do basic addition at home
@@thiefmathe said that he had a job related to that, idk if he was actually a lawyer or not tho
I agree completely.
Never seen this dude as clueless as he was watching this movie lmao
He was reacting to sound smart and then sounded absolutely dumb
“What else is on” BEST METAPHOR OF OUR CURRENT SOCIETY, EVER MADE
Yup, everybody's just craving that next piece of "content."
Idiocracy lol
That’s not a metaphor. A metaphor is saying one thing is something else. “His eyes were a fire, torching whatever they came into contact with.”
Notice, when they're chatting at sunset, the lit up moon has the sun _behind_ it.
"We accept the reality that we are presented"
1:30 He Did Not, In Fact “get it”. 😂
A cool detail is that Truman’s car doesn’t have headrest so that the cameras can get a better shot
“You never had a camera in my head” idk why but this line hits a little harder than anything else
This has been one of my faves for a long ass time. It's a nice blend of drama and subtle creepiness isn't it. 😂 Love your response to the 'finger clicking' dude in the office. Haaa!
one of jim's best if not his best - along with eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
I loved Liar Liar as a kid too
I love how when Alex realizes it’s a tv show from his birth he still thinks those guys are still just pushing him against a walll, but doesn’t notice when they do it it’s always in front of a billboard as an “ad” for the product hahahaha
For me… this movie is a commentary on Plato’s cave allegory. “We accept the reality of the world we are presented” perfectly captures this movie. Knowing that, we can make our own conclusions of the message behind the movie.
Me thinking he's about to finally get the advertisements.
Him: Is that the mom from Ozark?

Never seen anyone struggle so much to understand the premise of a movie 😂😂😂
I watched a few of his Patreon exclusive vids and the few where he watches with his friends or editors are much more satisfying. The reason being they are there to clue Alex in on all the shit he is oblivious to and questioning. You know the stuff we usually yell at our screen at him when he’s missing something.
Not for nuthin' but man Alex here SCREAMED OVER THE FRIGGEN PLOT POINTS!!! So, yeah, that was fun.
45 minutes after the film ends
Alex on Take 370: "Waht if the wrold we live in is a simmalation?"
The Editor note at 35:09 was just priceless
0:43 must have been some poor kid's homework.
I love you and your channel, bro! One of my favorites! But just watch the movie sometimes. Even just watching you react to moments without hearing you speak on them would be amazing.
So basically shut up Alex lmao
@@SLUSH_PUPPYY I wouldn’t say that 😂 I do enjoy his jokes and commentary, but sometimes he’ll ask questions while they’re answering them 😂

im getting a little frustrated with how much Alex is missing throughout this lol
He is about 29 years 10 months 16 days
3 hours 22 minutes ,and 52⅔ seconds old at the start of the movie.
I loved seeing someone else’s view for the first time
It's SUCH a good movie! I remember being in year 9 (UK) and watching this for some reason in Geography 😆!
I watched it in RE (RS). I think it was in year 8 though
The twins were pushing him into the wall for the ad on the poster lol You missed the scene where they showed the giant dome that was built for this tv show I guess.. lol
23:05 His eyes right here. He knows his best friend is lying through his teeth. It’s heartbreaking.
The headrests are missing for a reason. In many films and shows they remove the headrests in the cars because it’s hard to film with them around.
Yea Alex talks and misses so much…love him, but totally get why the lawyer thing wasn’t a good fit. Big props for getting through torts class though!!! Fo reelz!!
Starts talking about random thing, *important plot point happens*, finishes talking and is oblivious to major plot points of movie..
I'm sorry Alex, but you missing every single detail in this movie, physically pained me 🤦♂️
As his channel grew bit by bit, his ego grew exponentially. Now he thinks we're here for his "comedy" (3rd grade innuendo?). So he's stopped paying attention to the things he watches. All he's doing is looking to make "jokes" about every scene. And his weird fake laughter at his own 'jokes' is just maximum cringe.

hi alex, you seemed confused over the wedding pictures. he saw that her fingers were crossed. i don't know if it's still a thing, but it used to be that if you crossed your fingers during a promise or a vow, you don' t really mean it and can not be held to it.

Truman's fear of the water was tied to the disappearance/death of his father. Once his father returned, he no longer had any fear.
