@@tarinpaskalis3832 I always get chills and tears in my eyes when I'm at that scene. The other scene that gets me like that is Harry's first quidditch lesson where he catches the Remembrall outside Professor McGonnagall's window.

The director, Brad Bird, went through a bunch of people trying to get Edna's voice right. He kept coaching them on the accent, her inflection and pacing, to the point where one of them just said "why don't you just do it yourself then!". So he did.

And the "Sans Suit"/ Sansweet joke is just hilarious too. The jumper's last name means "without continuation" in latin. Meaning the jumper dude's last name means, quite literally, "I want to be dead".
You might have missed this detail but syndrome's original target was Frozone. But the minute he finds out that they've located Mr. Incredible they witch up immediately. That's also why the setting for the first mission was in a volcano so Frozone's powers would be weak. I'm commenting this 11 mins in so idk maybe u did notice it.
Omg that makes so much sense cause I always wondered why she mention “the fat guy being with him” cause that’s Mr Incredible. Also makes sense of why they scanned his face to conform him! I love this info
I'm pretty sure that Mr. Incredible was always the main target. They followed Frozone because they knew that he and Mr. Incredible were best buddies. Otherwise, they'd just lure Frozone into a trap like they had done with all the other heroes.
@@Yngvarfo From the scene before they head to the burning building: Mirage (to her radio): "He’s not alone. The fat guy’s still with him. They’re just talking." @@MattTOB618 - Well, precisely. "This is the one he's been looking for." They waited until they were sure. Clearly, they had figured out Frozone's secret identity, but not Mr. Incredible's until then.
Fun fact: Helen didn't originally fly the jet. Her friend did and dies when the missile hits, which is why the scene is there when she watches the wreckage sink under water, because he was ment to be inside it. Was edited out so Helen flys instead.
This movie is the perfect superhero movie, I dare say. The tone, the realistic and resourceful use of superpowers, the dialogue, everything coming back around, the relatability we don’t usually see in many modern movies when it comes to families, it’s just incredible “But wait, Into the Spider-Verse exists”. Yeah, but you can’t really compare the two, they’re perfect in their own ways
I don't know if I'd say Into the Spider-Verse is perfect. It's better than most animated films from the past decade, when it comes to the things you listed, but not only is that a pretty low bar, but that's most of what it has going for it.
This movie is extra special because almost every character you run into is enjoyable. From the little kid neighbor, to Edna, Mr Freeze, his boss, even the main villain is great. Its crazy that no scene feels wasted.
Buddy offed all Mr. Incredible's friends one by one to create the ultimate bot and prove him wrong about "working alone" (Nomanisan Island = "No man is an island"). Frozone was supposed to be next, that's why the robot took the battle to the volcano. Gazerbeam was the only one to defeat the robot once and see the password before the upgraded version got him.
@@leonechaos Bob was always the main target, but I suspect Syndrome had a hard time finding him because the family was constantly moving. This combined with the fact that Syndrome wanted the battle bot to be strong enough to beat Bob
@@Michael_the_Drunkard True. I guess I meant, Gazerbeam was the only one to survive long enough to figure out Syndrome's plan and write out the password before his passing
17:58 Fun fact: her superhero name isn't technically Mrs. Incredible. It's Elastigirl. However, in 2004, another company had the marketing rights to that name, so Disney had to market the character as "Mrs. Incredible" even though in the movie, she's always Elastigirl. By the time the sequel rolled around, Disney regained those rights, and the _Incredibles 2_ marketing only referred to her as Elastigirl. In other words, she's not really Mrs. Incredible
The bald teacher at 7:37 is the voice of Linguini in Ratatouille. It's pretty funny how so many of the same voices end up in other PIxar movies. Brad Bird the director voiced Edna. I didn't realize it was a guy for so long for some silly reason. Brad Bird also directed The Iron Giant and it's my favorite animated movie of all time and it's older.
I honestly feel like this is the greatest super-hero movie of all time. Just everything about it is done so well, and it's got something for the whole family. :)
exactly, Incredibles is the perfect family movie, even the suggestive references and scenes, kids will just gloss over or just go "ew, gross!" and move past it, and overall, everyone, kids and adults, can appreciate the life lessons, drama, masterful score composition, and the action scenes
Its funny, because it accomplishes being one of the greatest superhero movies ever made by following all the genre tropes of a classic spy thriller combined with a family drama. All they did was throw in latex suits and bam you got The Incredibles.
Alex! Be sure and hunt down "JackJack Attack." It's a Pixar short about what the kiddo what up to while the fam was busy. You'll love it. Super cute. Have a great weekend all.
I think one of the things I loved the most about _The Incredibles_ is just how relatable and.. _human_ the characters are. The Parrs are a pretty normal family, just with superpowers added. Pretty typical family drama, individual issues...it's one of the things that makes the family and the films so loveable. And it took me WAY too long to get the name jokes; Dashel I got straight off the bat, but (shy little) Violet who disappears, Jack-jack (of all trades) and even the family surname is them hiding in plain sight: _Parr_ for the course.
Another little thing is that Buddy (Syndrome) has a last name of "Pine". The act pf pining is synonymous with craving or desiring something greatly. He craves to be a auprrhero, and even his name shows this.
The fact that earlier I checked Alex’s channel to see if I had missed an upload, and then I wake up because I got a phone call from my boss and get to see a premiere for the first time and Alex even responds to me when I put something in live chat! Yeah, to date this remains the best "Fantastic Four" movie made so far. Sure it might stray from the source material but gotdamn it delivers a stellar depiction of the First Family of Supers. I only hope that the MCU has taken plenty of notes from this for what lies ahead. This stands as one of the core pillar Pixar projects alongside "Toy Story," "WALL-E," "Finding Nemo," and "Monsters Inc." The movies that brought Pixar up to such a high standard that, for the most part, the studio continues to maintain.
“Let’s make a family group of super heroes. We’ll make one stretchy, one super strong, and one can have invisibility and force fields. “. Back before 2004 I wonder how in the blazes this got past the drawing boards…..with out legal calling foul. Even the Underminer parallels the FF Mole Man villain.
One of the perfect films. It's got everything. Some real dark moments, danger, family, hilarious lines, great action, super powers, lessons, etc. Brad Bird is a genius writer and director. And the fact that they couldn't find anyone to do what he had in mind for Edna so he did it himself is just a cherry on top.
I’ve never thought about it since this video, but Jack-Jack never showed signs of distress(powers) because he had always been taken care of by a loving family
Each of the main characters has superpowers which complement their personalities: ~ Bob is the foundation of the family and set in his ways; hence, he's incredibly strong and virtually indestructible ~ Helen is very maternal and a versatile homemaker; hence, she's very elastic, highly resilient, and extremely flexible ~ Violet is timid, shy, and extremely vulnerable; hence, she is able to turn invisible and create protective force fields ~ Dash is the poster child for Ritalin; hence, he has boundless energy and incredibly fast ~ Lucius is easy-going and the epitome of coolness; hence, he has versatile ice powers Syndrome's lair is on Nomanisan Island, referencing John Donne's 1624 prose "No Man is an Island". This theme is central to Bob's character arc. The two old men at the end are caricatures of and voiced by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, the last of the "Nine Old Men" - the core group of animators who put Disney on the map with classic animated movies beginning with Snow White. Brad Bird toured Disney studios as a child (11) and fell in love with animation. Milt Kahl (another of the Nine Old Men) later personally mentored Bird (then 14) and helped him obtain a scholarship through Disney to attend Cal Arts. Brad Bird has since found a way to include and/or reference the Nine Old Men at every opportunity. As Brad Bird's first production with PIXAR, he was unaware of the significance of the Pizza Planet truck - making The Incredibles the *ONLY* PIXAR film (thus far) to not include it. As production was wrapping up, he learned of both this and John Ratzenberger being PIXAR's "lucky charm". While he was unable to work the Pizza Planet truck into the final movie, he added the closing scene with the Underminer at the last moment for the sole purpose of providing Ratzenberger with a speaking role in the movie.
Whenever you do the second one make sure FIRST you watch the short called Jack Jack Attack. It's about what happened when he was home with the babysitter and sets up some things for the second one.
There’s always been subtle things about this movie I loved the little things that don’t get talked about in the dialogue. For the the opening interviews help a lot to figure out the characters early on. You see not only them infront of the reporter looking their best and cracking jokes but them immidiatly see how they actually do their hero work. Bob’s first remarks in the interview are ‘I feel like the maid like ‘hey I just cleaned up this mess can you keep it clean for 10 minutes!.’ Is a wild joke for him to make, not only because HE causes 99% of property damage when fighting (and fights aggressively pulling out trees and violently shaking them smashing in the front of a car while passenger are hanging out a window, dive bombing an already free falling target so all the impact force of the crash hits the catches individual, and mr. Incredible stopping the train by holding it as a break but not trying to intentionally slow the vehicle just act as a full wall which buckles the road below.) His remarks of what a maid would say are totally out of this world for an actual maid to say. They are maids who always do the dirty work and that’s the gig they don’t complain to the bosses or the guests faces, they understand in life messes will be made. He’s told to be more flexible and more loose with everything he does. Have your schedule be flexible, have public relationships (especially with kids) be flexible and understanding, think about what’s happening in the moment and be flexible not the block/barrier/overwhelming force and Bob says he will but never actually does-- and it takes till the end of the movie where he breaks and screams ‘I can’t lose you’ for Hellen to understand as to why he can’t be flexible. He does care he really does deep down about keeping everyone safe (he rarely ever gets hurt or in pain thanks to his durability but it also means his fights are done so He doesn’t feel injury or as severe injury as anything else. He looks out for himself works alone and keeps himself safe 24/7 while also keeping everyone as safe as they can be compared to dead.) ‘I think you broke something- after counseling I think you’ll come to an understanding.’ (Instead of the man going to medical counseling where he would be told his wrong in his thought process/decision making was poor and affirm Mr.Incredible he went to a legal counsel to represent him and defend him/his arguments as being priority and he financially paid them to do so.) They’re safe vs they’re in danger mentality … if they’re in danger any any success rate is better then failure even if the success means injury/damages. He also sees himself as the hero (not a maid not a clerk not anything else a hero or nothing at all) he still thinks it’s safe/death situation ongoing 24/7 just that he’s not allowed in any way to stop it. It’s why he’s a vigilante but also why he has such a breakdown in the office with his boss. ‘He lost - the bad guy got away, how does it feel as Mr.Incredible to have a 0 losses streak broken by your 3ft tall rude as hell boss, who’s corporate, and who doesn’t care about your feelings, and who doesn’t care about the crime, who only cares about the policy of making money not stopping robberies. How does it feel to know you can stop a train but be held back by yellow tape or scotch tape and staples to the point you can’t interact in what’s practically a sidewalk shuffle for someone of your skills.’ Bobs other lines like dialogue with buddy are pretty harsh from you’re #1 biggest fan and like 11. ‘Sorry buddy I work alone to I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH YOU! while throwing them in a cop car. It’s still a kid you still have to drop a knee look em in the eyes and comfort them in dangerous circumstances It’s just like such a well done character of an everyday man coping with the fact he can do better but systems don’t allow progression at the rate he requires, and a hero who needs to save people because he cares about them and their normal lives just being normal and not being harmed. Knowing crime will never stop and that they will always respond to it and do so happily without complaint because they do find enjoyment they aren’t feeling like a maid/clerk forced to work and clean up messes and they aren’t enjoying seeing the messes and cleaning them up. At the end of the film the are actually enjoying normal life as a family which makes you wonder if bobs felt this the entire time he’s been married while raising the kids is this the first great family experience they’ve had in normal society? Are they finally enjoying it and participating in regular life as a happy family postcard but in an actual good way? When they see the next Villian it’s not a someone’s gonna get hurt senario they’re all supporting one another but also not in the mind state of the Villians won’t stop they will hurt you and anyone else, the Villian is a goon to them no matter the threat level it’s become silly and non threatening because they’re self assured and have support of their loved ones at their side. They smile at the end of the film not because there is a Villian and they’re gonna get into a superhero moment fight they’re smiling because they’re doing it together as a family activity and having even more freedom and fun (being flexible and themselves) and spending time together on it and doing good work together as a family dynamic. There’s no maid, there’s no mess, there’s no clean up and yelling. No one’s alone in a mess. There’s the family all doing every part together with eachother and doing so happily and peacefully. If there’s a mess they clean it together as it happens and move on to the next thing they have planned as a family with excitement. Bobs reaction to having to clean/do small delicate tasks is hysterical when he priorly called himself the maid. He breaks the plates, breaks the car, causes water damage and smoke with a baby in the house, and generally doesn’t wash the baby/vaccine the floors but lifts the furniture up and down for Helen who always has to swing back around to clean the house and I find it to be realistic but a funny nod to how Bob acts in a rush in secret independently and thinks his superhero wife can’t get a clue. She is tidy she did all the unboxing, washed the baby in the sink had dinner made cleaned and organized she got the nanny sorted out she takes the kids to school and activities she awesome she’s on top of any task given to her because it’s alot to do but she’s putting all her hero effort energy and skills into it. It is her priority and her focus now and it’s normal but it’s wonderful to know they’re growing up safe and relatively happy. (Even if it may be a slump for them she’s happy in being with them and for them and seeing what lies ahead in the future. So maybe class sucks (to dash) but hey after you graduate you get a party and you get to do something fun you’d like etc (normal mom conversation, leads to her and Bob arguing about celebrating the graduation at all when for Dash specifically it is probably a good idea to keep him engaged with progression and positive rewards as he’s so fast paced that attending class feels like an exceptionally long time even if it’s just 4th to 5th grade it could have felt like years for Dash who wants to be moving 600x the speed of everyone else in the room.) Helen’s outburst it’s not about you is so intense and motherly because she’s right Bob it’s not about how you feel about a kid moving up a grade, it’s about your actual sons feelings and recognizing his efforts and work to participate as a ‘normal person’ while wanting to be superhero active 24/7 AND learning everything in class and all of the small homework arguments and detentions and other things like lunch boxes of which Bob doesn’t focus on or participate in. Bob doesn’t see all the small steps and hard work put into just 1 day he doesn’t know his son gets detention or reprimanded till way later and his lack of understanding results in him finding the situation funny not serious. He’s not taking Dash’s education feeling or efforts into consideration and not taking the outbursts into consideration just thinking ‘wow how fast do you think you were using your powers?’ To which Helen has to be like ‘seriously? This isn’t about speed the focus is on class and not stabbing a teacher out of boredom Bob!’
Everyone of the incredibles powers is based on their position in the family. Dad the Strong protector and provider, Mom the flexible peacemaker, Older sibling anti social behaviour likes to be invisible. Younger sibling full of energy always Dashing around and baby full of potential.
No, The Incredibles _is_ for kids. It’s just not for the kids of uptight parents, like newer generations. I was born in 2004, grew up with this. It’s literally one of my favorite movies of all time
What I love about this movie (all the fun superhero stuff aside, and even aside from the "family" dynamic) is the fact that the central conflict between Bob and Helen is very nuanced; both of them are correct, and both of them are wrong, about various parts of what they think about their lives and their place in the world. Bob is missing what's happening now, and Helen is ignoring their history with each other, when they should both be doing both. Which makes the whole "learn from each other" plot of the climax so convincing and beautiful.
31:40 the moment Bob starts seeing the bigger picture. Helen has vision of Violet and is still completely wrapped up in what Bob’s saying, to the point she doesn’t care about their freedom. It’s literally his entire arc in this film- He’s finally realized he’s been living for the past when he has so much to be thankful for all around him. Great moment made even funnier with Helen’s “don’t interrupt!” 🤣❤️
I wrote a short essay for a film class on why this is probably one of the best films ever made, and also considering the process and reason it was made, it’s truly something special
There actually is an extra scene on the dvds and somewhere on UA-cam called "jack jack attack" which is a short showing what jack jack gets up to during the whole adventure and how his poor babysitter deals with it 😅
The question was why did Mr. Incredible rev the van engine just before touchdown. The reason is that having the wheels turning will do nothing while in the air, but at the moment of touchdown, the speed of the wheels will more closely match the speed of the pavement.
There is the "jack jack" short that takes place between this movie and the next that you might want to do as it will give some context to Incredibles 2. Also you should watch the "Marvel Shorts" from phase 1 too.
An underrated part of certain character deaths is the “oh no…” moment beforehand, especially with a character as egotistical as Syndrome. That “oh no” contrasting the sense of immortality is almost like their very instincts KNOW THEY WILL DIE. Also yeah, being sucked into a jet turbine followed by being caught in a massive explosion does a pretty good chunk of the work.
My longtime friend and I went to see it on opening weekend with our moms. It wasn’t planned, but both of us and our families all grew up with Pixar. Then we watched it in Latin Spanish, and I feel like that version has twice as many memes as the original version.
I feel you missed the funniest joke in the movie. When The Underminer appears at the end and says "Behold... The Underminer! I am always beneath you, but there is nothing beneath me!" Brad Bird is a genius with dialog.
I still remember the strong "James Bond" vibe I got when I first watched this, and Mr Incredible is infiltrating the base. Superhero movie meets spy thriller meets family comedy/drama, without feeling overstuffed or confusing. Fantastic film.
Well Brad bird did say he took inspiration from Sean Connery's James bond. And Disney nearly hired the guy who scored most of James bond movies John Barry to score in incredibles. And they even went to put on her majesty's secret service theme song in their trailer. John Barry would unfortunately back out for some reason
The airplane call sign "India Golf Niner Niner" is actually a nod to director Brad Bird's previous animated movie, The Iron Giant, which came out in 1999. That one is also very much worth a watch.
To answer your questions for why Bob pushes the throttle before landing the van at 33:08 When you push the throttle in mid air the centripetal force of the wheels makes the car rotate nose up very slowly. Nose down with reverse. You can see it used in dirt biking or trophy truck racing, anywhere the vehicle ends up in the air. I think it’s actually easiest to see in those little Rc cars though. Just look up Rc car flipping. You also want to speed the wheels up before impact so you get a smoother landing. The ground underneath you is moving very fast. It would be like jumping out of a moving car.
I remember seeing this movie in theaters when it came out. The music score for the movie is crazy on movie theater stereos. That trumpet parts especially. Great movie. Great music. Definitely timeless. If you get a chance, jam out to the soundtrack. You won’t regret it. It was written by Michael Giacchino who has done the score for several major Hollywood blockbusters. Really enjoyed his score for Rogue One as well. He pulled that one off in four months.
It's important to watch the little short that goes with this movie. It's called JACK JACK ATTACKS! It's like an in between scene that explains Kari's weird phone calls to the mom.
I’m not sure if anyone caught the detail but Buddy remembers the the night with Bon voyage different. Bob was actually restricting bon voyage from moving when he tells buddy to “Fly Home” for his safety. However Buddy remembers it as Mr Incredible shewing him away like he was nothing. Which is probably why the wound feels so deep to his ego
I always thought the perfect solution to Dash wanting to compete was to let him, just not in events that could leverage his speed. If he found himself resenting this, it would be an oppourtnuity to learn and grow, realising that doing something that he could win easilly is not true competition.
Edna is my grandmother in cartoon form. Crazy how similar they look. Not to mention they have the same personality. My grandmother would totally say she knows she’s the best when we tell her.
Fun Fact: Bob's office boss (Gilbert Huph) was dubbed by Herbert Feuerstein in the german version of the movie. The funny part is, that Feuerstein looks like a RL version of Gilbert Huph.
Did you know that they offered Brad Bird the chance to direct Star Wars Episode VII, the force awakens... and he turned it down? (I think they were right in offering it to him - they wanted the best of the best of the best. He wanted to do Incredibles 2, ...and it's hard to blame him. Episode 7 turned out nicely (it was the most solid of the Disney trilogy); but if someone else had directed 'Incredibles 2,' that would have felt way wrong.)
That was so cute "Dont let that girl pay for popcorn, buy her icee, popcorn, candy and the ticket!"...Now arn't you the nicest man ever?!(for now-a-days, I mean). I dont usually like cartoon stuff, but this is for sure one of the good ones. Thank you Alex for lifting my day!

lmaoo your joke about arby's ("Dad can we stop and get arby's?!" "No, son. any place whose* slogan is 'we got the meats', no.") came right after an arby's ad played. *chef's kiss* perfection lol
Okay I'm going to clear a small detail up. When you said what does pressing the gas when they are in the air do the reason is to bring the drive wheels up to speed so you don't go out of control when you land. If your drive wheels aren't at the speed of which you are flying when you land the vehicle will go into a skid and go out of control. Stunt drivers keep the throttle up when they are performing jumps for this very reason.
Happy Friday Alex!!! your videos are what I look forward to after a days work. I want to thank you for always putting a smile on my face wiTh your reactions.
Gassing the motorhome in the air was him getting the drive wheels up to speed just before touching down. Makes for a smoother landing. Cant do much about the front, but they dont cause as much drag, and the entire driveline is up to speed and ready to take over.
Alex gets me to like his videos within the first 30 seconds because he always seems to get me laughing right away. Thanks Alex; you’re a dork… but so are we.
This is such a quick moment that I am sure most people don't think of it as notable: This movie came out not long after my mother and I were in a very similar car wreck -- she overcorrected on the freeway, car rolled three times before coming to a stop. Needless to say, when they "land" the van in this, we were both a bit triggered and needed a moment. Her moreso than me because I was knocked out as soon as we hit the curb, but she was awake through the whole thing. All that to say we agree that the physics and the shot composition in that scene was very well done. Felt like we were there. Two thumbs up, would still take a movie depiction over experiencing it in real life again.

I know there are the NSA files on each of them, and that the second movie has a deleted scene with an eulogy to Gazerbeam (dude whose skeleton was found in the cave, the one who carved the word in the rocks) and a book on Elastigirl’s past (in which some are featured) but I still need more. What were their undercover lives like? How were they as people? How was their approach to being super? How did they get defeated? For a writer, this is a whole ass banquet (and as a writer myself, I’m very tempted to explore this idea).

Oh my goodness, I've seen this movie more times than I can count, and never noticed that.
I'm pretty sure that Mr. Incredible was always the main target. They followed Frozone because they knew that he and Mr. Incredible were best buddies. Otherwise, they'd just lure Frozone into a trap like they had done with all the other heroes.

Fun fact: Helen didn't originally fly the jet. Her friend did and dies when the missile hits, which is why the scene is there when she watches the wreckage sink under water, because he was ment to be inside it. Was edited out so Helen flys instead.
Odd, they somehow got away with a large amount of death in this movie but guess they couldn't slip that by.
Works better this way since you get bobs reaction to her. Also gives more weight to the violet forcefield scene.
This movie is the perfect superhero movie, I dare say. The tone, the realistic and resourceful use of superpowers, the dialogue, everything coming back around, the relatability we don’t usually see in many modern movies when it comes to families, it’s just incredible

I don't know if I'd say Into the Spider-Verse is perfect. It's better than most animated films from the past decade, when it comes to the things you listed, but not only is that a pretty low bar, but that's most of what it has going for it.

I love this movie. As a parent, I really appreciate the kids movies that are more than "just" kids movies.
I can help but feel like The Incredibles is one of those movies that adults like more than kids do.
As a kid, i kinda found it boring. When I watched it again later on, it was only until then I realized how amazing the movie truly was and still is.
This movie is extra special because almost every character you run into is enjoyable. From the little kid neighbor, to Edna, Mr Freeze, his boss, even the main villain is great. Its crazy that no scene feels wasted.
Mr. Freeze? That’s a Batman villain. Do you mean Frozone?
Buddy offed all Mr. Incredible's friends one by one to create the ultimate bot and prove him wrong about "working alone" (Nomanisan Island = "No man is an island").
Frozone was supposed to be next, that's why the robot took the battle to the volcano.
Gazerbeam was the only one to defeat the robot once and see the password before the upgraded version got him.
If he was supposed to be next, then why did they get bob?
@@leonechaos Bob was always the main target, but I suspect Syndrome had a hard time finding him because the family was constantly moving.
This combined with the fact that Syndrome wanted the battle bot to be strong enough to beat Bob
Gazerbeam was not the only one who defeated an omnidroid. He was 1 of many. Gamma Jack defeated one too and was almost as strong as Mr. Incredible.

I always thought violet was named for ultraviolet light
I honestly think they should of got Brad Bird to direct the new F4 movie.

I’ve never thought about it since this video, but Jack-Jack never showed signs of distress(powers) because he had always been taken care of by a loving family
Each of the main characters has superpowers which complement their personalities:
~ Bob is the foundation of the family and set in his ways; hence, he's incredibly strong and virtually indestructible
~ Helen is very maternal and a versatile homemaker; hence, she's very elastic, highly resilient, and extremely flexible
~ Violet is timid, shy, and extremely vulnerable; hence, she is able to turn invisible and create protective force fields
~ Dash is the poster child for Ritalin; hence, he has boundless energy and incredibly fast
~ Lucius is easy-going and the epitome of coolness; hence, he has versatile ice powers
Syndrome's lair is on Nomanisan Island, referencing John Donne's 1624 prose "No Man is an Island".

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO DO ANIMATED MOVIES
There’s always been subtle things about this movie I loved the little things that don’t get talked about in the dialogue.
For the the opening interviews help a lot to figure out the characters early on. You see not only them infront of the reporter looking their best and cracking jokes but them immidiatly see how they actually do their hero work.
Bob’s first remarks in the interview are ‘I feel like the maid like ‘hey I just cleaned up this mess can you keep it clean for 10 minutes!.’
Is a wild joke for him to make, not only because HE causes 99% of property damage when fighting (and fights aggressively pulling out trees and violently shaking them smashing in the front of a car while passenger are hanging out a window, dive bombing an already free falling target so all the impact force of the crash hits the catches individual, and mr.
He looks out for himself works alone and keeps himself safe 24/7 while also keeping everyone as safe as they can be compared to dead.)
‘I think you broke something- after counseling I think you’ll come to an understanding.’ (Instead of the man going to medical counseling where he would be told his wrong in his thought process/decision making was poor and affirm Mr.Incredible he went to a legal counsel to represent him and defend him/his arguments as being priority and he financially paid them to do so.)
They’re safe vs they’re in danger mentality … if they’re in danger any any success rate is better then failure even if the success means injury/damages.
How does it feel to know you can stop a train but be held back by yellow tape or scotch tape and staples to the point you can’t interact in what’s practically a sidewalk shuffle for someone of your skills.’
Bobs other lines like dialogue with buddy are pretty harsh from you’re #1 biggest fan and like 11. ‘Sorry buddy I work alone to I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH YOU! while throwing them in a cop car. It’s still a kid you still have to drop a knee look em in the eyes and comfort them in dangerous circumstances
It’s just like such a well done character of an everyday man coping with the fact he can do better but systems don’t allow progression at the rate he requires, and a hero who needs to save people because he cares about them and their normal lives just being normal and not being harmed.
So maybe class sucks (to dash) but hey after you graduate you get a party and you get to do something fun you’d like etc (normal mom conversation, leads to her and Bob arguing about celebrating the graduation at all when for Dash specifically it is probably a good idea to keep him engaged with progression and positive rewards as he’s so fast paced that attending class feels like an exceptionally long time even if it’s just 4th to 5th grade it could have felt like years for Dash who wants to be moving 600x the speed of everyone else in the room.)
Helen’s outburst it’s not about you is so intense and motherly because she’s right Bob it’s not about how you feel about a kid moving up a grade, it’s about your actual sons feelings and recognizing his efforts and work to participate as a ‘normal person’ while wanting to be superhero active 24/7 AND learning everything in class and all of the small homework arguments and detentions and other things like lunch boxes of which Bob doesn’t focus on or participate in.
The shrinking Violet is invisible, Dash is fast, and Jack-Jack is a jack of all trades(powers).

No, The Incredibles _is_ for kids. It’s just not for the kids of uptight parents, like newer generations. I was born in 2004, grew up with this. It’s literally one of my favorite movies of all time
You have to do the Jack-Jack Attack short they put out. It was everything the baby sitter went through.
37:55 nooo the DVD contained a short film of the babysitter freaking out while jack jack is showing his powers for the first time 🥲😂
What I love about this movie (all the fun superhero stuff aside, and even aside from the "family" dynamic) is the fact that the central conflict between Bob and Helen is very nuanced; both of them are correct, and both of them are wrong, about various parts of what they think about their lives and their place in the world.

The back jack short is the babysitters side of the movie. It’s the reason for her crazy phone calls
"Jack-Jack Attack" is a must watch!
36:27 Syndrome's death is probably the most grousome brutal villan death from a Pixar, they really made sure he was death for good
An underrated part of certain character deaths is the “oh no…” moment beforehand, especially with a character as egotistical as Syndrome.
That “oh no” contrasting the sense of immortality is almost like their very instincts KNOW THEY WILL DIE.
Also yeah, being sucked into a jet turbine followed by being caught in a massive explosion does a pretty good chunk of the work.

24:12 Fun fact there is a cut version where her friend is the one piloting the Jet instead of her and when Syndrome attacked he died
One of the things I live about this movie is the score. Classic and timeless
22:53 no wombats are not known for their stealth 🥷😂
Mr. Incredible, modern-day Hercules
Elastigirl, female Reed Richards
Violet, raven-haired Sue Storm

I always thought the perfect solution to Dash wanting to compete was to let him, just not in events that could leverage his speed. If he found himself resenting this, it would be an oppourtnuity to learn and grow, realising that doing something that he could win easilly is not true competition.

*HIGHLY* recommend looking up the short film called *"Jack Jack Attack".* It's about the events that happen with the babysitter and Jack Jack after the emergency signal on the plane goes off and the phone call gets cut off, to the point of them getting back. *It is absolutely hilarious.*
Of note, Syndrome's flashback does not reflect reality. He remembered it as Mr. Incredible just saying that, with no Bomb Voyage in sight.
lmaoo your joke about arby's ("Dad can we stop and get arby's?!" "No, son. any place whose* slogan is 'we got the meats', no.") came right after an arby's ad played. *chef's kiss* perfection lol
i haven't seen this movie in years but i can still quote every single scene. brad bird is insane for this one
1:20 You were NOT the only one! I was just thinking about this earlier. For the longest time I thought that letter was a G, not a D.
The music for this movie is on point incredible. It totally sets the mood.
This movie is my childhood im glad im still able to watch it with other people❤❤❤❤
You had me at “policyholders set back to pre-loss conditions“ 🤣
If their suits are indestructible why do they worry about the plane crash?
I think because their suits don’t cover their heads 🤷♂️
10:08 I’ve never noticed that sadistic laugh from Violet 🤣 that’s fucking funny
When I was in highschool I chopped my hair to chin length and gave myself bangs. Im also super short at 5'0". After the haircut some kids started calling me Edna mode 😭
I hope you were able to lean into that. Edna Mode is the BEST! Plus, she was patterned after legendary Hollywood costume designer Edith Head.
@@Divamarja_CA I was not confident at all in highschool 😭 I was a freshman and I'm p sure it was at the football game for homecoming. I told him to stfu and I think he was shocked I heard him
8:33 “just another way of saying no one is special” this if the exact thinking that syndrone leads his mission “because when everyone’s super… no one will be”
I mean you don't want Dash to compete for the same reasons you don't want men in women's sports or why some sports have weight divisions...
Am I the only one who wants to know more about all of the heroes killed during Operation Kronos? I know there are the NSA files on each of them, and that the second movie has a deleted scene with an eulogy to Gazerbeam (dude whose skeleton was found in the cave, the one who carved the word in the rocks) and a book on Elastigirl’s past (in which some are featured) but I still need more. What were their undercover lives like? How were they as people? How was their approach to being super? How did they get defeated? For a writer, this is a whole ass banquet (and as a writer myself, I’m very tempted to explore this idea).
Not only should you check out Incredibles two. You should totally check out the mini short, Jack Jack's attack
I AM TOTALLY with you on the Disney D being a G, "I thought I was the only one.."
You can find an extra scene. It was on the DVD - what happened with the baby sitter?
Asking the important questions.
@@celiashen5490 subject of the extra.
My personal experience with USAA and my car insurance. My friend was driving my truck and totaled it. According to KBB it was worth about 6500 ish. USAA paid for a nice rental and then paid out over 9000 dollars. However I'm sure this was a rare occurrence in the industry
LMFAO when alex fully laid back 2:30 😭😭
And again at 15:42 😭😭
@@CommanderVader05 he's hilarious, i've been binging his videos since i found him haha
