- Mat’s got his hands on a Human Horizons HiPhi X!
It’s a luxurious all-electric SUV that has the likes of the Tesla Model X in its sights! The question is, can this all-new SUV compete with the class leaders?
Starting with the design, it’s one super imposing vehicle, measuring over 5m in length! Around the back, it comes with a full-length light bar, and both the front and back come with huge LED lights that can be used to display patterns and graphics! The model we have here is in a nice matt paint and rolling on 22-inch alloys. There’s also a diffuser around the back which is 100% for show. aren’t door handles on the side of the car - instead you have a selection of buttons to open and close the doors!
Take a step inside and you’ll find a super premium design. There are soft-touch materials throughout the cabin, as well as three screens upfront - a large landscape driver display, a huge infotainment screen, and even a screen on the dash for the front passenger! Pretty much all functions are controlled through the car’s infotainment screen, and it’s a really crisp, sharp display. Hop into the back seats and you’ll find two lounge seats with a large central armrest. The seats come with loads of adjustments, and you’ll even find a set of tables and a fridge stored in the central armrest!
The HiPhi X comes with a 97kWh battery which is good for a range of up to 404 miles. It also comes with dual electric motors that can produce 598hp! It also has a claimed 0-60mph speed of 3.9 seconds, but you’ll have to join Mat to see if he can hit those numbers!
The HiPhi X rolls up with a price of around £95,000. So it’s certainly not cheap, but then again, it is absolutely loaded full of tech! But is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see what he thinks!

I disagree..prior knowledge of a new vehicles features helps show you, the viewer, on your next potential purchase..How would you feel if going to a car dealership and the salesperson has absolutely no idea on how a vehicle works??
Hey Matt, the right rear seat is actually called a “boss” seat. When you wanna go to recline mode the front seat suppose to go all the way forward to create that space for you. (Obviously means no passenger in the front seat then). So it’ll only be working on the right rear seat (in this left wheel car)

You would think after years of reviewing international cars he would know this too. I knew what was wrong immediately and I have never even been in a ultra luxury car.
Normally this kind of function is only available on the right-rear seat, and it's interesting they've added it to the left-rear as well.
Probably so the driver can have a rest at the back when the car is in park?

Was able to sample this car in China through Didi Luxe (sort of a Chinese equivalent of Uber Black). First of all, the top part of the back door doesn't have to be open, you have the option to only open the normal part of the door. Also, the front passenger seat is supposed to be all the way forward to give the back seat ample room to recline. I'm 178cm and it's plenty of space. But the car doesn't feel quite as luxurious when it's on the go despite good interior materials.
Build quality is probably better than a Tesla lol

The back doors are hilarious. I hate Teslas but I can't deny the doors on the Model X are clever, while they take up a lot of height they don't extend as far out from the car as a conventional door when opening.
It's like they've looked at that and thought, how can we do a similar thing but remove any of the benefits.
So they've ended up with a top part that takes up loads of additional height when open, and a bottom part that takes up all of the width of a conventional car door when open.

Also imagine getting in or out while it's raining. Tesla's doors still provide cover fo the cabin, but these ones just create a wide open gap for the rain to flood the passengers and the cabin.
I find the model x falcon doors to be utterly pointless but I won't get into that. I think these doors do have one benefit over traditional doors and one over falcon doors. More headroom than normal doors given that there is enough room above the car and if there isn't they can still open without the top part opening so better than falcon doors in that regard as well
Ok, I will get into why the model x falcon doors are utterly pointless because I can't keep my mouth shut. Tesla advertises that they can open in very tight spaces but there is no point in parking in a very tight space if your front doors can't open because they are still "normal" doors and thus need the space anyway. And where will people normally sit in a car? In the front obviously. So the only reason to have this kind of doors on a car is that they "look cool" and then you still have to ignore all the downsides. Sorry

Should have kept a few physical buttons , physical buttons of essential functions are much more intuitive and easier to use while driving !!!

I am very proud that Mat has finally reviewed one of my country’s products, although Chinese cars are still not perfect, it is still happy to see them on UA-cam car channels! Thank you Mat and thank you Carwow!

You can open the door and roof independently of each other. So you can leave the roof in place.

Glad to see that chinese cars are been reviewed. We should change are attitude towards chinese vehicles since they value for money and stop the usual brand names from having this constant monopoly. More of these chinese brands will hopefully in the long term force other manufacturers to reduce there prices.

New 'digitalized' cars have so much potential failure points on top of battery packs with unknown long term qualities, I wonder what the average lifespan will turn out to be compared to cars now, and how that impacts sustainability at the end of the day.
I wonder if insurance companies are going to not want to insure your house if one of these are parked nearby. If one goes up in a small confined parking garage, the damage will be insane.
Unfortunately, this is the future for all cars. Maybe it’s not perfect, but most major manufacturers are using electric motors and large screens, the petrol engine cars are phasing out.😢

Hey Mat, don't be too hard on this one. I think they'll make it better with time for sure. in the other hand, american brands like Apple, british brands like Mission or Cambridge Audio, manufacture many of their products there and they are pretty good. I honestly think is just a matter of time.
The “double image” you are experiencing is just because you don’t have the mirror oriented well. Tip and turn the mirror until it goes away.
It’s the same thing you will see with a normal rear view mirror that has anti-glare positions, if not oriented properly.
The rear view camera/ mirror far surpasses the regular mirror in every category.

The rear door complication is OTT.
As a recent purchaser of 2023 Tesla Model X, this was very entertaining to watch. I loled when the surprise champagne glasses popped out of the middle row.
Can imagine being in a multi storey car park and opening the rear doors for them to smash into the car park roof.
Ordinary car doors smash into things in narrow parking all the time ,this just takes it to another level, pun intended ! 😁

there are sensors that prevent the door from colliding with other objects while opening, whether it's another car, roof, incoming cyclist or car. the sensors also prevents the upper door from opening while in the rain

Mat forgot to mention that this car has a starting price of €109.000. I had expected it to be €50.000 to €70.000. That price label puts the competitive value in a wholly different perspective.
Can you imagine it pouring rain out and and getting in to the back of that thing, and waiting about 10 seconds for the doors to finally get closed?

Car lighting has become ridiculous. It is no longer for everyone's safety but ornamental. It makes an urban commute in November rain far more hazardous.

So when you open the door on the rear in the rain all your back seats get drenched . And that take 3 times as long to close as a manual door ?
I stopped at the rear windows don't go all the way down. My OCD would be constantly on. Also not a big fan of the giant infotainment display. They take up a huge amount of space and are just in the way when not in use. Not if they could fold down or fold away then size wouldn't be an issue. BTW, I'm assuming no frunk and no mention of rapid charging or the brand of radio it has.
Regen braking "one pedal driving" is actually quite dangerous without implementation of braking indications from the vehicle. It relies on the awareness of other drivers in a time when so many are distracted with mobile phones and or have very little awareness of car separation at speed for safety.
The brake lights do actually come on with the one pedal regen braking.

Seems to be an interesting car but a bit high priced for it is not yet an established luxury brand. Also I wished we'd learn more about how the manufacturer would like to ensure the cars can be serviced and repaired when we have to assume that these Chinese makers do not yet have a fully present dealership network in Europe. In fact, I'd rather see mobile teams that would come and visit the customer at his place doing the maintenance and repair work. I'd wish to get that sort of information especially when it's a new brand and I think we're going to see many of these in the future.
The HiPhi X is as expensive as even DOME ZERO.
Chinese car market is a real joke, they stole a lot of innovations from brands they have let build cars in their country. But like always with China, they don't know what quality or durability is. Their quality assurance is zero and they just have a good marketing machine. Also for when things go wrong, they're the best at covering up failures.
Completely disagree that brand name should have ANYTHING to do with price. I'm not paying a premium for a meaningless badge, that's illogical. Nor should a manufacturer sell cheaper just because they haven't been around for 50 years, being new doesn't make their manufacturing costs any less than a big name, quite the opposite.
@@cenciende9401 You know that quality and innovation aren't really the best things China excels at. They steel technologies, reproduce it cheaper and their focus is on mass sales. Not building a brand image. You need to study more about the Chinese culture and business ethics that they apply. You would be surprised if you would do a good research about it. If you don't you will just get offended by my response and tell me that or ignore me.

Y'all gotta admit that the Chinese have come a LONG way since building cheap clones from European cars. Remember flukes like the Brilliance BS6 and the knockoff ShuangHuan Sceo? They still incorporate design elements from other brands, but in general they have a design of their own.
Imagine using that rear door mechanism to get your kid in the car when it’s chucking it down with rain 😂
I used headphones to listen to this review and I noticed much more low end umble coming from this car into your microphones than most cars.

A great example of when the love of gimmicks and complexity trumps functionality and reliability. Anyone getting this without a leasing agreement should see a shrink :)

In China’s bigger cities like Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, this car is in the same price range as the Chinese variant of Uber Deluxe, Audi a6 and Mercedes E. Nice car indeed!
